battery and sot - Xiaomi Mi A2 Lite Questions & Answers

How come i see sot of 10 hrs+ with some users? I never had more than 6 hrs of sot on different Roms. Aosip,Viper,AEX,evolution-x ,cr-droid,miui,superior os. On stock i get 4 to 5 hrs SOT . Each rom using wifi and 4G and no gaming. Are those users using google gapps or not? Because Google playservice is the second most consuming battery after screen.

Depends on the app resource usage. I can drain the phone battery in a matter of hours with facebook and instagram both opened, and I can get more than 12h+ SOT with simpler apps that aren't that much resource heavy on the system. Yes I am using GApps. And sometimes gaming is more battery efficient than other generic apps like Facebook, Instagram, Youtube... Snapchat is the worst for battery... etc.

Only 3 hours of Screen On Time?!

I only get 3 hours tops of screen on time. Seems too little, from what I've been reading. I have wifi, mobile data and GPS always on and mostly use 4g since I don't have wifi at work. Is this normal? What am I doing wrong to no get 5 or 6 hours of screen time like most people?

3hr SOT with how long Active Time and Total Runtime?
5-6hr SOT is the lowest case on a normal running setup, within 9-10hr active time.

SOT as a single data is totally manipulative.
I am mostly getting around 4hrs which is in a normal day-which begins around 08:30 and ends around 23:00, have 3 IMAP e-mails and 4-5 social media accounts most of them autosyncing, also htc mail app is not giving notifications but also syncing in 2hrs to show the last mails of a contact in people details etc.
No offense, but lots of guys here always post 5-6-7hrs of SOT everytime a new device is released and when you ask about their setup, everythingis shut down. I dont get the point of using these "magnificent" devices like calculators. I even see the at some comments, saying "turn of data when you're not using it"... sorry but, what are you doing with these devices without an internet connection?
anyways don't wanna offend anyone but 3hrs of SOT can be also acceptable, just depends on the usage and esp the total battery time is impotant too. if you squeezed that 3hrs of sot in 3 days, it is very nice.
It's all relative.
First is your total runtime.
Then your active time.
SOT is judged in respect of that.
But I and others in the battery thread have proven 6.5-8hr SOT repetitively with above average full usage. So usage isn't a barrier to attaining decent SOT with the M8.
The ones "not enabling/doing much" are showing 10-12hr SOT on this phone, which makes sense technically.

Oneplus 3 Nougat Battery Life

Hi all,
Now, I've never gotten great battery life (combination of screen on time and idle) with any phone. I don't use them all that much apart from bursts and my OnePlus 3 would get me 3 hours SoT tops within 24 hours before I need to charge again.
However since Nougat I'm struggling to get even 1 hour SoT.
I'm using Bluetooth, NFC, both SIMS and nothing else untoward. This is the same as pre-Nougat.
Anyone else seen their battery life die since the update
Try to use 1 sim. I have 3:30 sot for both sims. And 7 for 1 sim.

Hey Konvict
Can you answer these questions then please?
How long a period of time is that 5-6 hours of SoT over? 24 hours of standby?
What radios and apps do you have running that might eat battery?

I would say about 24 hours....i normally charge my phone at the end of the day when i have about 40-55 percent battery left but even then i usually have goften 2:30- 3 hrs screen on time depending on the day. I will attach a screenshot of my battery today and maybe u can take a look at it.
Actually today this nougat looks very good.
I'm getting awesome batter life.
First two pics from OOS 4.0
Last two pics from OOS 4.0.1
You both seem to be using both WiFi and multiple SIMs - strange then.
I can't use GSAM as I don't have root and Nougat stops the app by app recording of battery use for third parties, otherwise I could see what was happening.
I do have a number of email accounts, and messenger apps, but these sit dormant most of the day (i have no friends obviously lol)
Hmm, maybe a wipe IS needed.
You guys got a great battery life, I got 2:30 in my good days, never above it!
However, someone told me to switch Doze off from developer options, I just did that and I'm currently charging my device, will see if it do any good by the end of today "fingers crossed"
PS. I'm using Freedom OS 2.0 with clean install + using Bluetooth and 2 SIM (one for calls and the other for data)
I'm also noticing a big drop in battery life after switching from marshmallow to nougat on my OP3T. Cleared cache & did factory reset, as I always do. All apps and settings the same, and usage the same. Drain seems to be extreme, not sure what's going on. The battery life was AMAZING on marshmallow... kind of regretting switching now

Go back to the previous versions of Facebook and Messenger. These two have been draining battery like hell for sometime now.
EDIT: Try SuperSU 2.79 final.

One plus 3 best rom for Screen on time

Can anyone tell me that which is the best rom for screen on time.i am using stock rom.just me a rom that can give a 5+ hour screen on time...i have posted my usage in screenshot
OOS 4.0.2 with OB7 firmware. Then flash render EAS kernal. EAS will make sure that you get the most battery out of your phone.
It doesnt fully depend on the ROM. If u really want good battery life then its all about tweaking. For example flash LOS14.1 with bluspark/ElementalX/Franco then apply a AKT profile, for further explanation of this head to the advanced kernel tweaking thread and then download the akt APK. Then choose which profile u think suits the best. U can choose from battery/balanced/performance. Then u can easily reach 5h SOT. Hope i helped you.
I have 8-9h SOT on sultan's CM13
Screenshots: https://forum.xda-developers.com/showpost.php?p=70828408&postcount=668
Beta 11 with Franco's kernel. 4+ guaranteed SOT for me with a moderate gaming ( CoC and CR .... Both battery hogger )
Plus both Sims and 4g data on one is on mostly.
If you want more battery then you should try AKT ZHANA but for me it made my phone slow. So avoiding it at this moment.
Hope it helps. Thanks!
SOT is personal and doesn't mean a lot you can leave your display on with sync off, 0 Brightness and get 20hrs...
Try different setups maybe ditch some apps and log in with optimized sd browser etc
I have got my best SOT with Slimroms
It really depends on usage more than anything else. For example, I'm consistently getting 5-6h SOT on stock ROM and kernel, no doze tweaks or anything. Never got below 4h, once hit over 9h.

my constant is with 4 hours sot with stock 3.2.8. could be better with 4.0.2 or whatever.. but i stopped thinking about the sot coz its just making me paranoid everytime i look at the battery stats. as long as the phone can hold up till end of the day then im good and as long as i can get off a charger everytime im on low battery then im damn fine

I agree with this as well. I think back to my note 4, and just wanted a better that would last until I got home.. I frequently had to plug it up or swap batteries halfway through the day.
Now with heavier use, [and more knowledge of android] regardless of what I do, my oneplus 3 always makes it through the entire work and school day.
H2OS Beta 7, stock kernel + root +greenify +juice defender(default settings). It's the best battery duration I have with OP3. 5-7h sot generally.

They are talking about unplugged screen time ... I see no other way you could get 12 hours sot from this phone. I'm not calling you a liar just saying I don't think it's possible.

Battery life - Nougat or Oreo?

LineageOs 14.1 official is best rom for battery life. Better than stock and almost 1 hour more SOT then custom oreo.
Oreo all the way definitely bootleggers 14 hours sot
I am on cardinal asop+magisk+magma kernel..deep sleep is working..but facing huge battery drain issue in idle condition...1% battery drain for about 1 hr approx. Is it normal ? Is there any solution guys ?
*Which
I'm on ViperOS Nougat, Magma kernel V6, Greenify,Amplify. I have a lot of apps, so a lot of battery drain in idle. 0,5-0.9% per Hour. Light Usage: 6Hours SOT- 2-3Days Usage;
Heavy Usage 10-14-Hours of SOT
It really depends of how you use your phone, bluetooth, wifi, mobile data, gps, etc. And on how many apps you have so.
I can fairly say that people with a lot of apps, even get 13 Hours of SOT. Depending on your apps that will vary, being higher or lower than that.
Stock Rom battery Life was better though for me, but the cons where delayed messages and a lot of bugs.
So using a Custom Rom really is better. And personally Nougat is my favorite.

Mediocre battery life

So I bought this phon about 3 weeks ago.
One of the primary reasons was the battery life since I'm not usually near a power supply.
But I've been struggling to get past 5 hours of screen on time on light to medium use.
Standby time is great though. No battery drain, but the moment I start using it, it starts tanking and like 1% every 3mins or so. I struggle to get a full day of use.
I'm running the May uodate, I updated while it was new so I don't know the performance before the update.
I've already reset once and wiped cache. Even in safe mode battery is still weak.
I need help fixing this.

It's decent 3G. Usually 3 bars when I'm at home, 4G at work but I use wi-fi there.
I wake up around 5am and by the time I leave at around 7 I'll be at around 80%. After just reading articles and scheming through social media
Right now I've been browsing Reddit and Tapatalk for the past 30mins and I'm already down 7% brightness is at minimum and I'm on 3G

I have now after 9 hours where I played the last 2,5 hours music and now 55%. Screen on time is 2 hours
yes battery life is not good for 4000 mah .for exemple redmi note 7 with same 4000 mah get way more battery life than a50 . for me i get 7 to 8 hours sot mixed wifi and 3g in one day ( 18 hours to be exact) .it drain 10 % in 9 hours when screen off .samsung need to improve battery life in future updates
Here's a quick tip
Samsung devices tend to drain a lot of battery because of app background usage
try to put apps to sleep ( apps that you need them only when you open them)
Also activate medium power saving if you need more battery
With normal use am getting around 9-10 and sometimes 11 SOT
With games and heavy use i get 6-7 SOT
all of this without any power saving option .
I debloted and now getting almost 9 hours of sot on normal usage on 4g always and dual sim on.. I mainly use for watching videos on youtube. Chatting telegram and whatsapp and calls 1 hour per day

How was the battery life before debloat. My phone didn't come with that much bloatware. It's not the Indian version and still on May update and there's virtually no stand by drain. Battery is significantly worse when using 3G
