Note 10+ Unlock Question - Samsung Galaxy Note 10+ Questions & Answers

I acquired an AT&T GN10+ off swappa brand new in sealed box. Device works great, using it on AT&T prepaid but I also have a line on Verizon and would like to be able to use it there as well. I tried to apply for an unlock on AT&T site and they said there was no such IMEI is their database (pic attached). I also tried 3 separate unlock sites with similar results. I'm guessing new devices may take a little while before they appear in DB. Does anyone know if this is the case and maybe how long it take?
Also they offer unlocks on eBay where they remote into your device through team viewer in windows and do a permanent unlock. How do they actually accomplish this, I have heard they modify the modem s/w? Is it safe? Does anyone know? Way back when, I once had an GN4 unlocked remotely and if worked fine. Here's the eBay link I was maybey considering.

[Q] Unlocking the T989 Revisited

First:
I know there is a fully legit method to unlock this phone via t-mobile. For what it is worth, I recently tried to do this and was stymied by the bureaucracy before I was able to get it done. Specifically, they apparently had a different phone registered to my account despite the fact I had activated it with the T989 (switched to prepaid) so I had to wait 24 hours for that to get into the system. Then I was required to FAX my proof of purchase but by then I was out of the country.
(Funny story: I got my g/f a legit unlock code, who is running a Vibrant. It didn't work, and we found this out in South Africa. Luckily I brought an extra phone which I had unlocked myself.)
Second:
Has anyone taken a serious look at this? I know there are ways to do this with various (kind of expensive) hardware, unlocking websites of various pedigrees, or taking it in to certain stores for a fee. But first of all where is the fun in that, and second of all, for people in a pinch all of these methods may not work. Best to have a DIY method where all you need is adb and a hex editor.
Third:
Unlocking is a pain anyways, because from what I read you have to go back to stock to do it, and who wants to do that?
Finally:
Does anyone want to try this? I am not a seasoned developer, but I am probably going to go through the official process of unlocking my phone, which means that if there is something I can snapshot, I can do it before and after, which might provide some hints as to where this phone is unlocked. Privacy issues must be respected, meaning I probably will be reluctant to share details such as my IMEI, but maybe we can all work together to figure out offsets or otherwise find a pattern useful in unlocking this device.
Thoughts?
Same thing about the vibrant here. I requested the unlock code from Tmo, and they sent it in a about a day. When I tried to use the unlock code, it wouldn't work. I used all attempts except one and it's still locked.I called T-Mobile and they asked me to send it in.
Sent from my SGH-T989 using xda app-developers app
The rep you spoke to should have asked you for your new IMEI number so they can punch it in. They can run the unlock code thing whatever with your new imei too, I have no idea why they didn't do that.Thats what I did when I unlocked my phonessssss.

I got mine through T-Mobile. Only issue i had was the dummy who sent the email forgot to actually put in the code so i had to talk to a rep who gave it to me then. But i flashed to stock entered code, and was able to use the ATT sim card perfectly no issues.
BTW the reason for putting it back to stock, i think the apk required for entering the code isnt on custom ROMs.
And just outta curiosity, how do you use ADB and a hex editor to figure out the unlock code? i always wondered where the unlock code came from wondered how it was calculated and such.. it must just be off the IMEI since thats all any company or t mobile needs to get the code..
After hours last night and this morning, this worked for me: http://forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?t=2024514

SIM Unlock/Root Questions

Firstly, I'll say I'm new to XDA so thanks to all those who offer people like me somewhere to turn to. So, a little back-story, I recently got the root itch after my last ATT upgrade and it would seem it couldn't have come at a worse. For I had just recieved my ATT Galaxy s6 Edge Plus two days prior to being introduced to this site. Needless to say, I put too much effort in finding other devices essentially to "play" (root, flash, etc..) then I should. Which brings me to this...I came across this Sprint HTC 10 still with the plastic on it for a price I couldn't refuse. While trying to go about Unlocking the SIM I've encountered two issues: one being I paid to get an unlock code (actually double due to "high level of security") which ends up saying unlocked from network in a pop up but when I reboot with different carrier SIM, it still says SIMlock Enabled. So, Secondly, I figured try my chances calling Sprint even though I didn't have any of the sellers information. Only to find out, according to her, that phones aren't even elligible to be SIM Unlocked unless they have been active with the carrier for atleast 50 days. I would reallly appreciate if someone could shed light on this and let me know, since I bought it out the box and don't have Sprint, did I just buy an expensive paperweight? Also, if anyone could point in the direction of an effective SIM unlock method, it would be appreciated. And lastly, would rooting it make it easier or expand my options of SIM Unlocking? Thanks for any input.
I haven't tried sim-unlocking this phone but I usually get unlock codes from reputable sellers on eBay. If the code you received doesn't work, I would ask for my money back or ask the seller to help me troubleshoot the issue.
The source seemed to be a reputable and were extremely professional, (HTCunlockingservice.com), and said they got the code straight from Sprint server. I just don't understand why the code won't work. Any knowledge of how factual the service reps statement that if it hasnt been active for 50 days, it cant be unlocked?

[HELP] unlock alcatel idol 4s T-Mobile

Hi.
Someone will know how to unlock Alcatel idol 4s Windows from T-mobile?
I not have T-Mobile Account. i do not live in US. I called T-Mobile but they ask for an account to be able to unlock this cellphone.
Can it be unlocked through a service or Software?
Thanks and Regards!
There are sim unlocking/network unlocking services. I am aware of a good one for Lumias, but have not had luck on the IDOL4s yet. Maybe someone can give a suggestion of a valid one they used more recently...

Yes, I have contacted several services but none to result, one that you recommend me?
I have only tried one that says they will do it, but it resulted in no service provided thus far. I have since put in a dispute/claim with paypal. The order still says in progress when I check the site. It has been that way since 5/28. So maybe their turnaround is much longer than what is advertised. No communication from them at all too. So at this point I have not one to recommend.

ok. what is this site? you live in US? why not use t-mobile unlock service? they only ask for an account
I do not use T-Mobile service, much like your self. I had a situation where Alcatel in an attempt to replace my last Idol 4s mailed me the T-Mobile locked model instead of what I sent in which was the unlocked model. The only site I found when looking for a whole day was simunlock.com, they say they support unlocking it and let you fill the form out on the site with the information required.

Yes, the site seems false, if there are more sites like unlockonline, anyway, in every site that asks me the provider id, but neither the device nor the box appear. Thanks
The provider ID is on the sticker that was on the back of the phone.

When I bought the phone I did not have the sticker. I found a page where you enter the imei and it shows the model, the brand and the provider id. I do not know exactly if the provider ID that shows is the correct one, in your case could you give me an example of the provider id of your alcatel? Since as I tell you, mine does not bring the sticker
@rjcs123
This was the provider ID on the sticker for the T-Mobile variant Alcatel mistakenly sent me. 6071w-2btbus7
@nate0 is the same provider id that throws me the page = 6071W-2BTBUS7-1, model = Alcatel 4S Pro TMO

Are you making progress?
Someone on Windows Central sent me a message on a work around way they used to unlock this model. Below I summarized it.
A workaround for the unlock code:
A for sure way is to have T-Mobile to unlock it. But you need service with them to get the unlock code while having nothing owed on the phone or account. Call them and ask for the cheapest prepaid plan for one month, so that you can get the unlock code? He ordered a $5.99 sim card with 30 minutes and 30 text messages he used that for a few days so the IMEI can show as active in their database. I will follow up with him to see if he did in fact unlock it already.
UPDATE: Turns out T-Mobile was not telling the truth and needed more from his account then they lead on. So he canceled that method. T-Mobile did however share a unlocking site for him to consider, which is strange. But I guess they were doing what they could to provide customer satisfaction.
I'm also interested in finding a way to unlock my Alcatel 4S Windows. I sent my unlocked phone in for earpiece repairs and they sent it back to me SIM locked with a new IMEI. I have no clue why such a repair requires a new IMEI and relocking back to TMO (the device is the same, perhaps system board change?). I even left a note that the phone is unlocked and I need it to remain unlocked after the repairs. Now I'm stuck. I'm not with TMO and have no way to unlock it.
My first Alcatel phone and I don't even get to use it.
Tried to get TMobile to provide the code for 2 months before I switched, they repeatedly said it was requested, never received it.
Could not find any vendors that could provide the code.
Contacted Alcatel and they said only Tmobile had the unlock codes.
Gave up and bought a 650, but will most likely switch to iOS when it breaks. Apps are disappearing daily and W10M is god awful slow. Sad really!!!!!

Alcatel has been a pain in the neack honestly...FFU is still broken for the open market model. Probably why they feel they have to send out T-Mobile units not realizing they are locked to the T-Mobile network...lol
UPDATE: after speaking to a few support reps, one finally figured out what happened, that some of us were screwed over getting a phone we can't use. Got a prepaid shipping label and returned it. Now I have a brand new in box open market version with VR headset and everything (I already have one but I'm not complaining). I'm satisfied for now. Just worried the next time the speaker blows and I have to send it in for service again...

Has there been any further progress? I would be interested to know which unlock site TMO recommended. I have tried 3 sites in total and received 2 refunds so far. I was able to get an unlock code using an Android app on another phone, but I just receive the message "incorrect code" when I input on the Idol 4s.

I couldn't get my locked T-Mobile to work so planning to sell.
I bought a Unlocked Verizon G8 and I got it working for the most part but couldn't make or receive phone calls on it. I think the phone app had too much specific Verizon stuff. Ended up returning it
The Sprint version is a mess. Trust me.
I got my locked to Sprint. It works fine so far in the UK when I put my sim in it.

Are you sure it's not unlocked? Mine is brand new out of the box and I just get no Service, and a little note saying invalid sim in the drop down menu.
Has anyone manage to have one of these unlocked outside of going by the book with sprint?
All the services i've asked either said they can't do it, or said they could at first, then just sent me a refund pretty much straight back.
I don't mind paying for the service but it seems nobody is there yet.
Anyone know anything I don't?

They said it was locked to Sprint but also said it would work in UK. I hope you get it sorted. I'm having the same problem with the V50. I'm guessing the o my solution is if someone request the unlocking code from the manufacturer. Which can take a week or so.

The problem for the unlock code with the sprint G8 (and I gather some of the other phones too) is that they don't request an unlock code with an alternate SIM. There's a bunch of other codes you can enter to get the unlock code thing to pop up..... doesn't work.
It looks like the solution for the same thing on the Sprint G7 is for them to remote in using teamviewer or anydesk and work their magic.
I guess I could see if I can get my hands on a properly smashed up, non screen functional, unlocked phone, and transplant the board. But not really something I want to do with a brand new phone.
Partially hobbled by the lack of popularity I guess, you can find someone to do pretty much anything done to a Samsung

Im really hoping these codes work for you (option 2 or 3). I didn't for me unfortunately.
Unlocking instruction for LG G8 ThinQ ?
How to enter an unlock code in a LG G8 ThinQ:
Second option (device doesn't ask for an unlock code with an unaccepted SIM)
1. Start the device with an accepted simcard (example LG G8 ThinQ was bought in Orange you need to insert an Orange card)
2. Go to the dial screen and press “2945#*model number#” (the same way you enter a phone number)
Example: the device is a P999 you need to enter “2945#*999#” or for KU990 you need to enter “2945#*990#” etc…
Third option (accepted simcard)
1. Go to dial screen and press 2945#*71001# or 2945#*20001# as if making a call
2. when a hidden window appears enter the unlock code
Thanks Agent.M
I appreciate you looking into it. I've tried all those codes on mine and they don't work.
From what I gather, Sprint has used some sort of different locking method that can't be undone by entering a code.
It looks like it was the same on the LG G7 and the solution involved cross flashing some software. The services offering to do it all remote in using team viewer or similar and do it for you.
There was a thread running on the G7 forum for it the sprint unlock, this G8 thread doesn't seem to have nearly as much activity on it. And doesn't look like LG is being helpful with unlocking the boot loader.
I'm a bit sad, I put a lot of thought into which phone to get. We've only got the G8s locally, and it's not quite the same phone.
I'm going to return it and I guess burn the $100 in postage, return postage, restock fees etc. I'm not really happy to sit on it for another 6 months until someone works out an unlock for it. With my luck, someone will probably crack it next week after I send it off.
Unlock codes don't work on this phone.
There's no way to enter it.
Also. Suspicious post is suspicious.
It kinda sucks that this phone still can't be unlocked from Sprint using a 3rd party option. Because of the lack of attention, I'm afraid that LG phones might be leaving the scene just like HTC.
I ended up returning my g8 and getting a v40 new unlocked locally.
It's freaking enormous but we only got the g8s here which isn't any smaller.
Hence chasing the g8. I wanted something a sensible size.
My sprint phone have a major issue, it was randomly rebooting several times per day. I got sick of it and did a full reset, it made things even worse, I somehow lost the sprint boot up logo and now it just endlessly reboots until I shut it down completely.
Is there anyway to do flash it back to the original stock firmware?
My Sprint G8 (sim unlocked) from america is working with my Irish sim on GSM/UMTS only.........so no mobile data. There doesn't seem to be an option to add an APN.
It cost me 400 dollars including shipping and duties.............kinda expensive for a pocket camera!!!
Love the phone and will go to any lenghts to get it sorted.....but it's not looking good.

I'd love to hear details......did you buy the phone from US seller or did you bring it to the UK yourself, after using it on Sprint in the US?
Did your UK SIM register on your UK provider and have you got mobile data?
Could you post some screenshot from your "about phone" menu and also your APN setting from your Network menu?
I can't get my Sprint G8 working in Ireland on my data network (works on GSM, calls and texts only)

I'm having the exact same issue with my LG G8
- As We only have G8s in EU, I bought AT&T G8 from US eBay. Used it for a month without any issues and then suddenly MM#6 error.
- Went to AT&T "unlock phone" page and entered my IMEI. It said the phone is lost or stolen.
- Contacted the eBay seller, they told it should be unlocked and sent me an unlock code. I entered the unlock menu (2945#*820#) and all options gave the same result "Phone is not Personalized", which should mean that there is no lock on the unit and I did not have an option to even enter the unlock code. But there is still the MM#6 error.
So a bit clueless as to what to do now and based on this thread it seems like there is no solution to this. The phone seems to be locked by some other method.
I have never owned an LG phone before and just wanted to try it out. Guess it's an expensive lesson
edit: just after posting this, I got answer back from my carrier - the phone is blacklisted. So that's and anticlimactic end to the story
It's a pity......the handset is amazing.
There are a community of people trying to get this sorted.
The problem seems to be that your phone is trying to register on the ATT network and it can't........and there is no way to change the settings needed for it to register onto your network.
Can you post a screenshot of your APN screen in Network Settings.

How are Consumer Cellular Note 10 Carrier Locked? Help Needed

I have a Note 10 Plus N975U1 that was sold as a Consumer Cellular device through Target. The phone came with the N975U1 unlocked ROM installed on the phone and there is no carrier apps or Consumer Cellular identification anywhere. The only reason I know it's Consumer Cellular is because of a message that popped up for something, can't recall what now.
Anyway, the phone acts just like an unlocked model. Put in various sim cards and the phone reboots through the blue recovery screen to update carrier software for the sim you are using. APN settings are available and can be edited. Everything is just like an unlocked model.
Except, it connects to the network for a couple minutes or so and then stops working. It acts like the Verizon versions do before they are unlocked by Verizon. Except the Verizon versions give you a little pop up stating the phone can't be used on another network. This model has no message.
I am guessing that they are locked using the same mechanism that Verizon uses for locking their devices now except they just are not showing anything to let you know.
Is anybody aware of exactly how this is done and any third party who can unlock it? I have tried a couple different unlocked ROM s as well as an AT&T and Verizon just to see what happens. Same problem.
Thanks
Have a link from the target site to the phone you bought?
I have a feeling that the phone is not actually unlocked or it may not be as what it appears exactly. You can run the IMEI number using swappa and see if the phone is indeed an U1 variant or just the normal carrier N975U.
It maybe possible (not sure how exactly) that your using an international variant that was flashed and configured to look like a N975U1. For example the phone listed here is an international variant that is compatible with US LTE, but I have some serious doubts with how compatible it really is. From past experiences with a local store that sells unlocked Note 10+ units for Net10, I discovered they are not actually US models and are really international models. They were flashed and configured in a weird way (best I can describe it) that it would work for the most part, work with Net10, but it would not work with the other providers here locally. It would at first appear to work but then fail all together.. It wasn't until I started digging into the IMEI number and what it belonged too that I discovered the truth of what the model actually is, and I then promptly returned the phone to the store I bought it from.
If the phone is just network locked and a genuine N975U1 model it would just seem that you only have to use the phone with the service for a certain period of time before they will unlock it. Consumer Cellular would be the best place to go to get (and ask about getting) the phone unlocked.
https://www.consumercellular.com/Help/phones-and-services/5
I resell used phones and specifically phones from Consumer Cellular. All the previous Samsung models used to come unlocked, but about the time the S10 was released, all their Samsung phones came with this unusual lock. I've tried working with countless unlockers and no one has been able to remove it. Once it connects to the internet, it downloads some google update and the phone loses voice/data service. I've wondered how they do this too. A few other models I have that have the same lock are the A10e A20 J7 S10/+ S20/+ Note 10/+. Really really frustrating as I've been searching for a long time now. If anyone knows anything, please let me know. I have hundreds of these that need to be unlocked. Also to clarify, yes they are all the U1 factory unlocked models.
Edit: Apparently when a carrier locked device is flashed to U1 firmware BEFORE unlocking, there is no software prompt to unlock the device. It probably was a carrier locked N975U originally. Maybe on Consumer Cellular firmware, there would be a prompt to unlock it?
These are the guys but they only do commercial work. I am pretty sure they never fail unlock.

These are not the U versions. I've sold CC phones for years and they are and have always been U1 models. Not only does it say it in the software, but even on the back glass. They are locking these things with an update somehow.
I'll reach out to swiftunlocks, but I would put a big bet up that they can't unlock it either. I'm connected with some of the top unlockers in the world as this is my business and no one has any idea. If anyone is reading this and wants a phone to test, I'll even send you one if you think you can unlock it. It's worth a lot of money to me to find a solution. The worst part is that these phones are all paid off and eligible to unlock through the carrier, but since "I'm not the original owner" they won't help me.
