So I've been using my tablet in the car to watch Netflix and Amazon Prime videos during various appointments for my wife and kids. Has worked great with headphones, but figured it would be even better with my car's audio system. So I ordered a decent quality aux cable off Amazon, a 2-pack actually, but it doesn't work! I get really heavy static with the audio barely audible in the background. It also only plays out of the left channel. Tried the other cable with the same result. Plugged that cable into my Galaxy S9 and it worked perfectly.
I've searched around for the past half hour with no luck. Seems some fixed similar issues with other Samsung devices by turning on the UHQ upscaler, or by holding Vol+ while cycling the power, but neither worked for me.
Any thoughts?

Sounds like a faulty jack have you tried twisting the jack ? As sometimes that clears the static ? if not then you will need to get your Tab S4 replaced via Samsung!
I did rotate the plug, but it didn't resolve the issue. I don't think the jack is faulty, though, since headphones work perfectly. Thank you for your response, though.

interesting have you counted the rings on the headphone and your car aux jack ? Do they line up ??? Just a thought!
I haven't, but I actually have a 3-ring adapter. I'll give that a try, thanks for the idea!
I may be totally off but...
I have been using an MP3 player (Archos Jukebox Recorder) in my car for years. Recently I thought to go modern and downloaded some music on my Samsung A3 (2017) phone. Connected the cable... and all I got was a lot of static noise with hardly audible (and bearable) music.
Of course, the MP3 player using the same cable still plays ok. Anything plugged into the A3 also plays fine.
I haven't yet sorted out what could have been the problem but it sounds awfully like yours.

I have a Prius that has a built-in system. I connect using a vanilla cable with 3.5mm jack stereo connectors.

Cables make a huge difference getting a cheaper cable often out preforms the pricey one! (That's no joke) Disconnecting the FM/AM radio cable gets rid of the static (Here in the UK that has done trick in the past) Also can you try switching over the plugs on the back of your head unit right into left, and left into right. Vice versa see if that fix it ?

Switched the cable and the static seems gone... Strange that the Archos didn't have this problem. But I needed to increase the volume to a surprisingly high level[*] to get a decent sound.
[*] Radio plays on 15-20, CD 30-40, Archos 30-40, A3 way beyond 50.

Hi Everyone,
I recently purchased iconia a100 for the following purpose:
1. To be the GPS in my car
2. SHow me over ODB interface (ELM 327 BT) all that i want about my car.
3. To be my car entertainment (Audio / Video )
In terms of first 2 : everything is great and works great (gps signal was real sh*t until i flashed flex rom).
The 3rd point is also great with one exception:
When connected to car amp (via car radio) or (for the testing purposes) any other expernal speakers or headphones the sound is only good on one channel.
The other channel is VEEERRRYYYY low. almost no sound there.
I actually bought Acer dock station thinking that this might fix the issue but.. no....
Its the same thing even via the dock station same channel is very low.
Anyone has similar problem ? anyone heard of a similar problem ?
(from what i can tell when the sound comes out of the internal speaker both channels work just fine.... yeah just checked with stereo test and its all good when on internal speakers)

He means left and right channels. I was going to say a hardware issue with the jack but the dock also shows the issue, and it does it with anything else? Headphones different cables etc?

and yes again, tried it with docking station and without and with both tried with my logitech speakers headphones and othe rheadphones
i listened for a bit more and realized that the sound comes form both channels one (left) lower then the other and on top of that its mono.
I've taken the tablet apart : back cover the battery and the volume controls pcb with the headphone port the latter wat disconnected during the test to make sure that the port is not affectin the sound (factory diffect during soldering and there is an semi shortcircuit between the channels) and it did not make any difference.
One other thing that it could be a something wrong on the board (soldering mistake ? ) right after separation for internal speakers and headphones/doc.
if it cant be fixed easily i think ill just simply remove the speakers and use that output (i dont really need the speakers when its in my car )

Are you sure its not a setting in your music player ? Sure its plugged in fully ?
Is your jack dirty or clogged ?
Is Dolby on ?
How are you connecting it to your deck ?

i just burned my motherboard... stupid instuction was with an error and instead of connceting to the audio aux in... i've connected my tabled to the 12v output.. a nice smell of fresh burnt computer meat...
now im looking to buy a broken (cracked screen) a100 ar just a motherboard...

Has anyone else out there connected their M8 to their car using 3.5mm and noticed a strange whining and hissing noise prior to any actual audio being played?
The noise is very apparent, but as soon as you start some audio (Spotify/Deezer/Google/HTC player) its fine, and that includes any quiet bits in a song. Its when there is no audio being pushed out there seems to be this problem,
I havent noticed it on my headphones, but cant confirm as I left them in the office last week. Anyone else had a similar issue?
M8 is stock with latest updates for UK version.

Your cable must be loose or bad
Try a better shielded cable. Also, turn volume to max on the phone to get a better signal and adjust desired volume in the car.

I have tried several cables (one pro series) and it makes no difference.
I have only just upgraded to this phone a week ago from my Galaxy Note 3, which did not have any issues at all.

Unfortunately not, I would expect some interference if I had connected it to the 12V charger, but its just playing as a phone with only the audio lead connected, nothing else!
Most annoying is that you have to pay £240 more to BMW for audio bluetooth.... grrrrrrr

I am an installer at a car audio shop. We like to hardwire bluetooth audio adapters to the factory aux. Your local reputable shop should be able to do it in your bmw no problem. Use this part, as cheaper ones tend to have noise. This has fm mod which you will not be using, but has true analog out that they can hardwire to the back of your aux jack where nothing is seen. At my shop, I charge $100 labor and $100 for the part.

Yes on some occasions i have experienced the same noise.
Its not a cable issue as i have checked grounding, used several cables, and tested with other devices.
It also clears up on its on once you use an app to play music.
I use siriusxm, play music, and pandora..

Just so those who just joined in this converstation don't get too dragged into it, I've resolved this issue simply by buying what is called a ground loop noise isolator adapter. It's main purpose is to remove the static and whining noise you hear from your speakers when you plug your phone to the car charger while connected to the speakers. But at the same time, it is keeping the signal from the aux cable of your car on "hot" so that when you plug in the phone, the phone immediately picks up the aux signal and stays connected. I basically killed two birds with one stone by getting the adapter. Here is the adapter I purchased:

I will make it clear here that this aux connectivity problem has nothing to do with how cheap or expensive your aux cable is. You can use the most expensive cable or the cheapest penny cable out there and if the problem exists between your phone and your car's aux, then it won't resolve it. Either change your car's head unit (which is a stupid thing to do) or simply get the adapter. Don't return the phone over this problem, its just a dumb move. The phone is amazing. LG will have a patch for it or someone will make a ROM that tackles the problem.

was wondering if anyone else with the G3 (not sure if it matters, but I have the 851 variant) is having a hard time getting their phone working with the audio jack coming from their car. I drive a 2007 Scion tC and never had any problem of weird issues connecting any of my previous phones (Moto Atrix 4G, LG Nitro HD, GSIII, Nexus 5 just to name a few) to the audio jack in my car. I'll just plug it in and it connects just fine.
But for some odd reason, the G3 is having tons of issues. When I plug in the audio jack to the phone, I see the audio jack icon pop up up top next to the clock, but then some times it will just disappear on its own. Other times, it will stay there, but when I play a media, may it be music, or video from any app, the sound will play out of the speaker on the phone and not the car speakers. Unplugging it while the media is playing and replugging it again will not change anything, but if I stop the media playback, unplug it and then plug it back in, and the icon reappears and then I tap play immediately, the audio will then come out from the car speakers. Some times I have to do this multiple times to finally get it to work.
The strangest thing is, this does not happen if I plug anything else to the G3, such as a headset or an external speaker or any other devices, only in my car. It even works fine in any other car as far as I know. I've tried different audio cables in my car but it still does the same thing, so it doesn't seem to be the cable.
Is there some kind of sensor in the phone that detects connectivity of the phone to another device? I realize that when I plug in the phone to my car, the car speakers makes a couple of whining noises before it goes quiet, sort of sending or receiving a signal from the phone.
Can anybody please help me? I want to say that the phone is defective, but I can't proof so since it works just fine with any other devices. Could it be the head unit in my car is incompatible with the phone? Any advice is appreciated. Thanks!

Thanks bfranklin, I didn't realize there was another thread about it. Wish all the G3 are under the same group.
I noticed i get some crackling feedback when i hit play on a track.. but then it works fine and even with moving the aux jack it doesn't keep cracking... just on initial play/loading of the music player
I have to plug the cable in very slow or it won't work.

That was my trick initially but eventually even that didn't work. Someone mentioned to try plugging in a charger first and then plug in the aux cable and that worked. But now I bought a ground loop noise isolator and that has resolved the problem completely. I also don't get so much popping noise and no whining noise when I charge the phone while the car is running. Here's what I bought:

If you use low quality Audio cables like Monster sells it will be higher resistance than a quality cable and should register without issue. The phone struggles with discovering the connection.

I'm gonna disagree here bc I'm using a cable from a Wal-Mart discount bin, which is I'm thinking the cheapest kind available, and it doesn't work right.

I was not saying that. If you use Griffen cable at 14 . or monster cable at 20. Or rocketfish at 18. They all work the same. Just not buying that it is a cable issue. Hardware more like it. I actually just order a eBay cable for .99 cents to prove this totally wrong.
This has nothing to do with cables. I literally tried over 6 different cables and nothing worked between my phone and my car's aux port. Yet I used the same cables in my friend's car (old Nissan sentra) that has an aux port and they all worked fine with the phone. Also used a cassette aux adapter kit in my gf's sister's old SUV and it works fine with it.
This is purely hardware compatibility issue. Some head unit's aux port stays hot at all times, others don't. Some probably reacts faster than others and connects immediately so the phone doesn't drop connectivity before engaging. Again, like I've mentioned, you can either circumvent the issue by using the "charge phone first then plug in aux cable" trick, or simply buy a ground loop isolator adapter which keeps the connection hot. LG will fix the problem eventually. It was an annoyance, but a minor one, and i can't be any happier with this phone despite of the connection issue.

Well see i thought the same thing but this works perfectly and just google is Blustream isbt52
No problem here with g3 and my tuscan aux in. I do run soundabout pro and set headset output to wired...

I've got a very strange and annoying problem. I've got a Nexus 5X and a 2008 BMW Z4 3.0si Roadster with a removable 3.5mm audio cable.
I've tried my Nexus 5X with 3 different cable on a lot of other car, hifi stereo and earphone and it always works (the sound go to the other device the way it should work).
I've tried 5 different phones on my BMW and the sound go to the Z4 speaker the right way.
But when I try to connect my Nexus to the BMW 9 times out of 10 the phone doesn't recognize it and continue to play the sound on the phone speakers. The strangest thing is after that half the time when I remove the cable from the car but keep it on the phone it recognize the cable and stop playing music on phone speakers. At this time I can connect it again to my BMW and then the sound go to the car speaker.
I can't understand anything about this problem and it's driving me a little bit crazy. Sadly no Bluetooth on my lovely Z4.
Anyone as an idea ?

Did you try pressing really hard on the plug? It is a very tight fit to the point you feel like you might be breaking the port, but it loosens over time.

The reason I ask is it still works if not plugged in all the way, just the connection is not that reliable. Quite a few people though they had it plugged in all the way and they were getting sound, but sometimes sound would switch back to the phone. It turned out they really needed to push in the cable really hard.
Does it work if you start the music after plugging in the phone? That's how I have to do it in my POS Dodge work truck.

Nope and it makes no change if I plug it before or after the music start playing.
It looks like my BMW send to much power and the phone try to protect itself or some kind of witchcraft like that...
Hello I have a US TA-1045 version of the Nokia 6.1 that I am returning for a replacement. The reason is that my sound will cut out every single time I am using headphones through the 3.5mm plug. The only thing I can do to remedy the problem is removing the headphones and plugging them back in and resuming playback.
Has anybody had this problem? I am really hoping my replacement does not have this same issue.
I have this same issue with my Nokia 6.1 . Let me know how it goes.

If you are using inexpensive headphones the impedance could be less than expected and might cause a problem.
Some cases may not let the headphone plug seat completely in the jack.
This happens to me with the headphones that came with the phone, my other earbuds, and another aux cable.
Haven't had issues with these in other devices

It's Android not the phone from my experience, get a USB C adapter. Alternatively try turning off automatic USB audio routing in developer settings. (Didn't work for me on Oreo but apparently it used to work great in Nougat)This will probably be a slow bug fix as the 3.5 mm jack is dying out. I borrowed someone's pixel 2 xl adapter and it worked great so I ordered one along those lines in standards with reviews backing it up on Amazon.

It happens with Play Music too but admittedly much less frequently. I literally wear my ear buds all day listening to music maybe I should try Pandora or something. It happens with Play Music too but admittedly much less frequently. I literally wear my ear buds all day listening to music maybe I should try Pandora or something. Have you switched to any music apps that seem to work better? Which one or ones if so? My adapter won't be here till tomorrow but I'll give a full report if you would like me to.

No, I've only used Spotify so far. But the music cuts out so much I've cut down using it a lot. I would appreciate knowing how the adapter works though. I wouldn't want to buy one unless I knew for sure as I have limited income. Thanks

I used Pandora (paid version) regularly with my Nokia 6.1 (TA-1068), Oreo 8.1.
I have never had a problem using headphones. YMMV.
Does anyone have a link to the spotify / google play issue?
This issue is super annoying - especially because I usually do a lot of dirty work with my phone in my pocket and when the audio cuts out, my hands are too dirty to touch the phone

Link to what? Who knows if Nokia is even aware of the issue. It also happens with other music players unfortunately. I did see some mention of the problem on Nokia 6.1 official forums, but no mention of solutions. Still waiting to hear if a usb C adapter fixes the problem. But I doubt it as this seems to be a software issue.

Someone in this thread mentioned earlier that this issue is related to Spotify and not necessarily the Nokia 6.1 . I could have misinterpreted
Wasn't sure if spotify had acknowledged this bug on their support area or not

Sorry for not getting back to you. I only had it for a day and lost it but I do not recommend the adapter. It would randomly have loud static that I did not have with the pixel 2 xl adapter I borrowed. However I have been using the jack and it seems to cut out less frequently now. I am probably going to just use Bluetooth from now on.

Ok I think I accidentally fixed the issue. It's caused by the setting option that allows you to raise your phone to your face and the screen comes on allowing you to see notifications. It's called "Lift to check your phone" option in settings. Turn this feature off. Haven't had the issue since.

Thanks - I just disabled "lift to check phone" and will see if i run into this problem again. That being said, I haven't noticed this problem since the July update but that may just be a coincidence and I have used heaphones less
