T-Mobile says Android 10 for the N10+ is already in testing phase - Samsung Galaxy Note 10+ Guides, News, & Discussion

That's what I thought too. Testing phase is generally pretty close to release. But we usually get a beta program first, so who knows.

Wow! If it's released in 2019, I'll be amazed.

I don't think it's to good to be true last i recall google did a new program to work with other phone manufacturer to get the latest update out faster.

That was in effect on the Note9 too (Project Treble?). Which, admittedly, the Note9 got Pie faster than the Note8 got Oreo (about two months sooner) but it was still February of the following year (after release). This seems much quicker!

If Samsung pushes out the latest software just weeks or a couple months after Google releases it, I'll be in utter shock. I confirmed it says its in testing on Tmobile site. I'm cautiously excited!

I don't doubt that it's in the testing phase. But that doesn't mean much - products can be in testing for a very long time. We can infer from this that we will (probably) get Android 10. That isn't a surprise. But we can't infer when that will happen.

I would not be so enthusiast about android 10, I read an article here in XDA about how convoluted the file management is

They'll be testing until next year, dont hold you're breathe

While testing products can last a very long time, typically when carriers state the next OS update is in the testing phase, that means they are fairly close to release. It means they have the final version and are making sure it works on their network prior to release.

That is interesting. I'll have to see how it works IRL, but it sounds cumbersome.
I'm not so much excited about the update to Q itself, as I am the anticipation and leaks leading up to it. Honestly the leaked video of Q didn't really show anything groundbreaking, which is fine. Pie works great on this phone.

^This! I had Tmobile branded phones from the Galaxy S until my Note 10+. The longest I've waited once it went to testing was 6 weeks. Least was 2 weeks.
While I'm skeptical, I believe this isn't fake and maybe it's the next step for Samsung phones. Fingers crossed! (Go Project Treble?!?! )

Available a month after everyone is using the S11.

Once I receive my note10+, first thing I will do is block updates, just in case android 10 has some serious bugs or battery hogging issues, or anything I dont like, after evaluating o confirmation that android 10 indeed is a worthy update, i would update

Mango coming in a week or two!!

Here's the source, finally a word from Microsoft:

question....what abt those of us running RTM?
should we restore to nodo?
and do we get the firmware updates too if there is no need to restore back to nodo?

If you are running the Beta it will definitly be impossible to upgrade from the Beta to the final, carrier and OEM approved version of Mango.
Most likely this will be the case for the leaked RTM as well but you never know. If you have to roll back to NoDo you will lose every Text and save games etc. created after you left NoDo, so downgrading to NoDo now will at least allow you to keep those after downgrading to NoDo.
However, if it turns out that you can upgrade from the leaked RTM to the final thing, then you won't lose anything and you might wanna take the risk and wait for the rollout to begin.
Awesome news
Just saw the post on twitter, and I must say that I'm pretty exited!
I'm actually gonna wipe my phone before the update. Some may wonder why, and it's simple: My region thingy won't work in Norway before Mango, HAH!
The wait is almost over y'all!

Well look at this. THIS is exactly what they should be doing (albeit weeks ago, but still). Fantastic.

Also, verizon is lighting up quite a few around the same time... maybe the LTE iphone is possible after all .?

Yeah I read that as well but the instructions might just be "downgrade to NoDo using your backup" etc. Time will tell and fortunately it's not that far away.
The only reason they made the announcement is because we now know when Apple will reveal the next iPhone which basically means no living sould will give a damn about Mango. Way to go Microsoft, good luck with that!
I'll believe when I see it. Until then, it's all rumor and speculation.
There should have been a disclaimer that "unless you're on the AT&T network, then you'll need to wait until December or January since Mango is complex and needs to be tested before release."
Can anyone tell me why carriers have anything to do with updates at all? Carriers simply provide the infrastructure for a phone to work. What have they got to do with anything? It's something I have never understood. My ISP isn't testing my Windows 7 updates before I install them, why would they do so on my phone?

It has to do with service compatibility. They make sure the phones perform properly with the various services the carriers provide. Plus, on top of that, they make sure the phone that bares their logo and name performs to their specific standards. Any malfunctioning phone can potentially give the carrier a bad rep.
I know from experience that a phone sold outright...unlocked and from the handset maker...can be buggy as hell. Whereas the exact same phone under the carriers moniker is a sweet and well functioning phone. This doesn't apply to Apple, though. Apple is in full control of any and all updates for the iPhone. But I bet the carriers who carry iPhones are allowed testing before updates are issued.
I'm glad this is more concrete than the fall. Lets see if ATT keeps to their words and updates my damn phone in a week or two.
Not even fall yet and an official announcement. Good job.

LolliPop for the Note 4 due soon...

Looks like Samsung may release LolliPop to our beloved Note 4 sooner rather than later.... but how long will the carriers take before turning it around for us?

I was shocked when Verizon released it, they are usually really slow. ..
And to answer Techsavvy2's question, in Verizon at least, the GS5 4.4.4 update fixed many Bluetooth issues that were present in 4.4.2. But I agree with Tech's point in that new for new's sake is a little pointless.

Thanks and I hear you, the news sites seem to be the biggest offenders.
At least it is good news
Hopefully as stated earlier in the thread it holds true for AT&T. Maybe they will realize with such a big OS release that people will want it sooner than later.
I have a feeling AT&T is going to delay it for at least a month while it figures out what features they want to disable to add in their own bloated, pay to use version of it !
Why is it called lollipop.....suckers.....

Oct 17 security update has new camera app too

There was a new security update for the Verizon version of the Moto E4 this week. It may have been released across the whole Moto E4 product line.
Besides securing the phone from the Blueborne Bluetooth weakness, the update also updated the camera app.
I was pleasantly surprised with both.
Does anyone know if the camera is performing any better in low light? The camera has been one of the few big weaknesses of this great cheap phone.
My Boost Mobile Moto E4 has received a whopping ZERO updates. It's still sitting on the May security patch... Hopefully we actually receive the update at some point.

Waiting and hoping... The story of Android.
The kicker, I have a LG Stylo 2, that was updated to the September security patch a couple of weeks ago, in fact LG has supported that phone consistently throughout the years. Sad to see Motorola, who builds basically a AOSP phone, unable to provide updates in any sort of consistent manner. I like Android, but that's way I switched over to iPhone... Timely Support.

Question Where is the March update?

First Monday of the month is typically when the updates hit, isn't it?
Also, it should be Feature Drop time. But no mention of it anywhere. Maybe just small update to come or there will be one next Monday?
Not until 1pm EST.
They confirmed it's delayed again
Delayed, plus the "feature drop" consists of some mediocre Snapchat stuff, an oversized battery widget and a couple stickers. The Pixel 6 turns into a disappointment. Non-existent feature drops, massive bugs, delayed updates... not a good track record.
Bipolar chat in the forums.. 13 Dev 2 comes out Thursday. I would think it will be out by the 15th or so latest.

When updating not on time.
There's no other phone worth considering. OnePlus is dead and Samsung has too much bloat and baggage.
I'm sticking with Pixels because at least I know my monthly updates will improve firmware, not just bump security patch level. And they will come every month. I don't worry too much about the delays, but it's a bad look.

HMMMM....
I count 15 updates and one major version upgrade since the initial release of the P6P since October 2021
I've found that Google's updates have drastically improved battery life for my P6P, but it still doesn't compare to the battery life I used to have with my LG several years ago. And I think we all can remember how bad LG was, with releasing updates. I just thought that perhaps I missed some insider news for the delay, and you are so wonderful with these phones.

Google are doing fine with slow updates with lots of bugs, just look at the pixel 6 and 7 update history, software/hardware bugs are all over the place.
