Google Verification Bypass - G Pad 10.1 Q&A, Help & Troubleshooting

I need help.
I work for a disaster response company.
Here is the dilemma
We have 8 of these devices.
LG G Pad X 10.1 Verizon LG-V930
They are all locked with the google verification and we can not get them to bypass it.
I have not tried to flash a new ROM, but and i dont even know if that will work.
I have seen a few different posts about getting rid of it, but some of the settings are missing and i can not finish that process.
I need help resetting these so that our drivers can use them again

Why not login to the original Google account? If there legitimately owned you should have no problem getting into them.

They are legitimately owned.
However the ones we are having issues with are employees that were terminated, or they were temp employeess, and they used their personal accounts on these devices. The ones that used the company email we can retrieve.
We have reached out to them but some are not willing to give us the information to help.

Ouch! Now I understand.
That's gonna be a tough one. Generally your gonna need there login info to get back into them. There are dodgy Ebay sellers that claim they can get passed it for certain models of phones. but honestly that's the only other way around that if it's even possible for those models.
Now if you have receipts for them Google might be able to do something if you get ahold of the right person.

I don't know if you figured this out or if this would help but I think I can get you into the guest account on these devices.
First get a SD card with an apk on it. I downloaded one from apkpure. Then when the device asks you to connect to a wireless network, check the Show advanced options box. Then in the Proxy settings drop down box, select Manual. And click on the Proxy hostname box to bring up the keyboard, and press the settings button on the keyboard that looks like a gear. From the keyboard settings menu you can click the mulit-window button on the bottom taskbar and can open two windows. Open the file manager in one of the windows. In the file manager click on your SD card and try to install the apk you put on it. When it prompts you that you need to allow Unknown sources in the settings, click on the settings button to open the settings window. (Do not check the allow Unknown sources box if it allows it, if you check it, and the device resets or runs out of battery you'll have to go through this again, but when you click on the apk it won't prompt you to go to settings to allow unknown sources because they're already allowed.) Now just click on Users and switch to guest. There are some limitations to this mode, like not being able modify the wifi network (you'll have to switch back to the Owner account to change this).

I found a FRP bypass workaround if you are running 5.1.1 on a LG G Pad X 10.1 V930 AT&T model, not sure if all models are the same. It was FRP locked and all of the other bypass methods must have been patched. I was at the setup screen after a factory reset. I hope this helps.
1. Connect to wifi, then go back to start screen
2. Go to Accessibility > Vision > Enable Talkback
3. Go through the talkback training then draw an L to bring up the quick settings select Text to speech Settings (bottom right corner), afterwards you can disable Talkback by holding the power button and holding 2 fingers on the screen until it disables.
4. You will be in the settings app. Go to Users > Add user > User > Add user > Set up
5. You will be brought to a User setup screen select Next > It will pop up the wifi connection screen select next > You will be asked to sign into a Google account, sign into your Google account and proceed with the Google setup.
6. You will be brought to the homescreen. Go to settings > Users > And sign in as Owner.
7. Go to Settings > Factory data reset > Reset tablet. You can now factory reset and you will not be prompted to sign into a Google account.

Can't retrieve contacts - Screen doesnt turn on

Hey Guys/Gals,
So my screen won't turn on but fortunately, Samsung is fixing it for free! Thats pretty much the only good news that I have.
For reasons that I'd rather not share, there were contacts added to my phone's internal HD (this is an assumption), rather than adding their info to Google/Gmail. If you can recall, when adding a new phone, you are prompted with 2 choices: Phone or Google. On many occasions, I selected the "phone" option.
To my dismay (noob fail), I didn't root my phone after the Froyo update. Hence, I cant access : data/data/com.android.providers.contacts/databases/contacts.db <--- where i believe the contacts are stored.
I can't transfer my contacts from one phone to another (via the hub and 2 wires) b/c the appropriate settings can not be set from my phone, due to the powerless screen.
I have exhausted all options that I could think of and am now finally turning to XDA for help. Can anyone offer some help please? I will be greatly appreciated.

That's probably what they needed to set. I remember the girl at the Sprint booth didn't have to set anything to suck the contacts off my Palm Pre but I guess it is different for Epic contact sucking.

I could really use some advice from a technical standpoint please

Hi everyone. I recently got a T989 from Telus, to which I used an Ebay unlocked. Now first things first....I have never had my email account or any account hacked. My computers in my home are virus free, so I have eliminated them. Within a week of using my T989 with Mobilicity, my gmail account (which my phone knows the password to) was hacked and logged in by someone in the U.S (Gmail shows IP logins) and they spammed my entire contact list. Now I am trying to think of ways this could have happened, but I honestly think the phone may have a keylogger or something on it.
Here are the steps they had me carry out (and it did unlock the phone immediately).
Download and install necessary files
http://www.UnlockClient.com/SAMSUNG_USB_Driver.exe
http://www.UnlockClient.com/dotNetFx40_Full_setup.exe
Very simple procedure:
1. Enter your paypal email or start in demo mode
2. Type *#7284# and select USB - Modem
3. Type *#9090# and select [1] USB
4. Exit service menu and reboot the phone
5. Once phone rebooted connect the phone and computer
6. Wait until all drivers are installed
7. Click "Unlock" button
8. Enter 00000000
Here is the auction for this unlock I got. http://www.ebay.ca/itm/280852210909?ssPageName=STRK:MEWNX:IT&_trksid=p3984.m1497.l2649
Is there anything there that I should worry about? Or is there any possibility they have someone routed everything I do on my phone through them? I am seriously worried about my online banking information and such. Thank you very much in advance.
not sure if serious?
- taz b.
Why wouldn't I be serious? Isn't this a legitimate conclusion? I don't have a lot of posts but I have been lurking for years. I am serious however.
Unlocking phone is really a matter of entering a simple code in one step. All your steps there including entering your PayPal account, connecting USB?? and installing drivers are unneccesary and sketchy at best.
I've seen some reputable phone unlocking sites but definitely never seen something like that from eBay.
If I were you I would try a darkside full wipe and go back to whatever was at a safe state before.
Sent from my SAMSUNG-SGH-T989 using XDA
Oh I have wiped many times. The problem is that I don't think any of that wipe stuff will go back to factory settings in those *# menus or for the modem settings etc.
I know an unlock code is all that is needed, but I bought from a website that couldn't find the code. This one offered and instant unlock by a program (like the ones shops use) to unlock.
I am also not dumb, the paypal account doesn't require a password or anything it is just a way to identify your keys.

And did you test your phone with a different sim card? Everything is functional?
As far as I know, the legitimate way and the only way to unlock a phone is through the codes generated by the datebase. All the reputable sites that unlock phones that I know of, all use codes to unlock. When I had bought my telus g2sx the store unlocked it using the code.
Something like a keylogger would be app level, not modem info or hardware level. Also, something transmitting every keystroke would use a LOT of data and battery.
First thing I would do, personally, is check my battery stats to see if any app was using a suspicious amount of battery.
In my opinion, it wouldn't make sense for a company who already got your money for an unlock service to install a key logger to spam your Gmail contacts.
Just my two cents. It would take a tremendous amount of technology to track everyone who used the service. Not to mention man hours in sifting through collected data.
Check the battery stats. Settings>About Phone>Battery Use.
Hope this helps in any way. Hacked accounts are always a bummer man.
Wierd, I used that site a week or two ago and nothing like that happened to me. Makes me worried now.
I didn't use ebay though, I did it directly from the site. You could always re-flash your phone to stock then update it, that would eliminate any possibility of odd software.
In step 1, did you run a program on your computer, on the phone or both?

If you want your phone as clean as possible then do this in recovery
go to mounts and storage format /data format /system format /cache format/emmc. Then flash the super wipe followed by the rom but remember doing it this way deletes everything from your phone.

probably had nothing to do with the unlock, but more likely you had soem one arp attack your wifi on an open hotspot and they just nabbed your password.
I fiddle with this in coffee shops all the time and i always leave with a list of facebook, youtube, gmail hotmail and other passwords.
I'm not a spammer, i just like to see how insecure things are and if any one is intelligent to use ssl... even though ssl can be stripped from a packet now lol

dont use open hotspots at coffee shops and stuff like that. look for the shady nerd in the corner, and i think there is an app that can detect if your wifi is being arp spoofed.
https://play.google.com/store/apps/details?id=com.gurkedev.wifiprotector&hl=en
i think there may be free ones too, i dont know. but that app will detect if your being attack by a man in the middle/arp spoofing
I don't use Wi-Fi hotspots since I have unlimited data on my phone. I really don't understand how this could've happened.

its not just your phone that is at risk for these attacks. anything you sign on with is if some one does the man in the middle attack, among other attacks.
Other reasons besides your phone unlocking are the root cause of your issue. It's unfortunate none the less but man in the middle password sniffing and fishing are the leading causes i see at work for your spamming hijacking. i work with this stuff daily.

[How-To]Getting the $25 Google Wallet for Nexus 7 outside US[Ends 30 sept 2012]

Google is offering $25 wallet for apps purchase but its only for US – but you guessed that already huh? Fear not, we are not left out Its very simple if you follow these simple steps.
The key is to get your device connected to the US IP via Virtual Private Network (VPN), but its hard to find a really good free VPN provider that actually works. It took me a few hours to find one that was really reliable. Until I found one that will get our job done perfectly here. Its FREE, simple to use, and stable too! Its called the CactusVPN. All you have to do is just sign up for it and you will get a free account which is valid for 24 hours – more than the time we need to run this little hack.
So here are the steps:
I personally advice you to factory reset your device first so you can start from the very beginning and get definite chances for this to work. That said, factory reset your device. If you don’t know how, go to Android Settings -> Backup & Reset -> Factory data reset.
When the device loads, select English as your language. Setup your WIFI, but do NOT setup a Google account. Also do NOT enable the geolocation services. Skip everything and you will reach the homescreen.
Now, put the device aside. Go to CactusVPN (click here) and sign up for an account under “Free VPN”. Once you have signed up, login and go to the Client Area and select “MyVPN services”. Click on the free VPN in the table under “My VPN Services” and you will be presented with all the details that you need.
Now, on your Android device, go to settings and hit the “more” below “Data usage”. You will see an option for VPN, select that. Now click on “Add VPN Profile”. Insert “CactusVPN” as the name and PPTP as the type. You can get the server IP from the accounts page above. Enable PPP encryption and save the settings.
Now, select the profile. It will ask for your username and password which you can get from the same account page above. Thats it, you should be connected to the VPN gateway.
Now, run Google Play. It will ask you to add a credit card. Just use your local credit or debit card (it worked with my Maybank debit card too). Leave the country as US, insert the postcode as 10002 and phone number as (212)9255599. Once it validates, you will get $25 credited to your account.
When making purchase, in the payment details, select Google Balance and it will deduct from it. Oh, and feel free to remove the debit card or credit card that you added earlier.
Thats it! Pretty simple isnt it? Good Luck!
**credit to shahz & google.
dont forget to click thanks if this help you.

Thanks, worked perfectly although I must say:
You do NOT have to factory reset!
The only thing you need to do is open the Play Store, log out (or add new account) and then go to Settings - Apps - Play Store - Clear Data
Then just open the Play Store again and it should prompt you with the 25$ gift card. That being said, it seems like you can do that with as many Accounts as you want (assuming you have more than one credit card which most people do).
Just be careful that you don´t do too much!
Let me get this straight, add another account on the same device, enter a different card and you'll get another $25? Is that it? I've 3 account in my N7, so with different card I'll get $75. Sure?

yes, it is normal.
not only for US, Australia got the $25 credit also
It worked for me, at least getting the $25 added to my account. Only when I try to buy an app, it is grayed out for me when not connected through VPN. My connection is timing out all the time on VPN, so can't try that yet. But if that is the case, you'll have to buy everything today while the VPN account last, or find another free VPN
CactusVPN is not letting me create a Free account as they have banned my country's IP to create any free account. Is there any other good free VPN sites?

why dont you hard reset / factory reset using recovery? the only thing you lose is data, but phone will turns like newly bought..
It was factory reset. Howecer even after a reset it is still asking for the previous owners account details which i have no clue what they are. Im so stuck, and mad that i now have a brick
just googled:
tap "Settings" and select "Applications."
Touch "Manage applications" and select the "All" tab.
Touch "Google Apps" and click "Clear data."
Click "OK" on the confirmation screen. Repeat for "Clear cache."
But I think a new flash of a pre root image or a factory reset with clearing cache and data will solve the problem

Flash pre root images
I don't think there's anything you can do about it if you don't get the owner's information. You can't get into the settings to enable USB debugging, so you can't flash anything. I bought a phone like this. Managed to sell it for parts.
Sold it for $100 for parts...
Just went and bought a brand new one instead. What a nice phone, minus the **** ton of bloatware!

Question Multiple users on a freaking tablet in the 21st freaking century!!! (a little frustrated :) )

I bought this Mi Pad 5 (EU version) in hopes to have multiple users to switch between.
There is an app, SwitchMe, which (I think) would solve my problems, but I just bought the damn thing and have no need to loose warranty just to unlock the bootloader and root it in order to use the beforementioned app.
The included solution from MIUI, second room, doesn't allow the second user, to connect to google. Nor easy way to switch between users (actually, easy way to switch to first user, but not back to second user, AND only while using the tablet and not from lock-screen).
The last thing I found on the internet was, to enable multiple users via developer options.
The way to enable multiple user is to turn off MIUI optimization. But that is not an option on my tablet. As in, there is no slider to swipe to off.
Have I missed anything? Are there any way to have multiple users on a freaking tablet in the 21st freaking century?
Save me! you wonderful super nerds!
Hello,
Try post #20 of this :
Cannot access Google
Hello, Just got the tablet, it was really quick. Ordered when it went for sale in Italy on Thursday and today Friday morning already received it. Maybe I'm one of the first to receive the tablet with Global ROM, but I'm going to ask anyway: I...
forum.xda-developers.com
I've had the same frustrations and can't for the life of me understand why Xiaomi would feel the compulsion to strip away Android's core multi-user stuff just to introduce a half-baked porrly thought out substitute. What if we're more than 2 in our household anyways ?
If the above suggestion kind of works for some google accounts, it won't for accounts supervised with family link. So if you wanted to share the tablet with a kid, registered as such, you're out of luck. I'm in the process of trying a custom ROM to get rid of MIUI, because I already can't stand the thing. And that makes me sad, because I thought such OEM nonsense had been left behind YEARS ago, and I can now see I was deeply mistaken :-(
So I have the pro version and I can connect to google just fine.
But when I go try it on the regular pad 5 yeah it can't connect both on second space and multiple users. Is it a rom issue maybe? that might get fixed?
Anyway.. to access multiple users try this:
1.Download Activity launcher from the play store.
2. Open the app and search for "multiple users".
Click on it and add users from there.
Extra step: press & hold on "multiple users" to create a shortcut to this menu to your home screen.
Make sure to enable Home screen shortcuts permission for the app first.
It's still inconvenient to use. Only way to access other profiles is from that settings menu.
And it won't connect to google, just wait and hit skip.

You can switch between the users using different passwords from the lockscreen. I'm using a different pattern for the second space.
You can switch to first and back to second user while using the tablet just you have to enable it from the settings. " add shortcut to home screen"
Also check the solutions on the mentioned thread above. I can see on post #24 someone got it connected to google on second space.
@Half Alive , you rock ! While I was waiting for Xiaomi to allow me to unlock the bootloader on my Pad 5, I tried your suggestion with Activity Launcher and, lo and behold, it worked ! I was able to add my son's Google account and family link is now doing its thing. Now, since the multiuser features are still there, why did Xiaomi jumped through hoops to hide them ? That still feels quite a bit dumb to me, but hey, as long as I can use them, I guess it'll do.
Thanks again !
I can confirm that the fix mentioned on the other thread is working to fix the login error on the second space Account. To solve the problem do the following:
* Go to Apps, show all
* Google Play Store -> uninstall updates
* Google Play Services -> uninstall updates (after this the app list disappear)
* You can go to the Play store and login
* Repeat for the other space if necessary
Thanks for the help

I posted my thread late December and unfortunately forgot all about it. Though I did have my dad and his wife staying over new year, so I was preoccupied.
Thank you for your replies and I will test the posted solution come dawn, and report back after that.
Thank you all for your contribution!
I am now a happy owner of a tablet with multiple users via second space. Not as polished as I would like it. But it works and I'm happy.
Thank you

Hi, can I have details on how you managed to get family link to work?
I tried to install my child's profile first but it wouldn't let me, kept hanging on family link manager. I also removed all accounts and added mine first and tried to set up multiple users but I couldn't set up the account. It would just loop on trying to contact Google. I also tried to uninstall updates and clear data on Google play and services without success.
Well, I ended up installing a phh GSI on it, because switching profiles was way too bothersome for everyday use in the end. So I can only try to remember, but I don't think I did anything other than what you said coupled with the trick mentionned by @Half Alive . I'm sorry I can't remember doing anything else :-/

Not a prob. Thanks anyway. I'll keep hacking away at it. Hopefully the MIUI 13 update sorts it. Otherwise I'll have to try an alternate rom too. Thanks.

Updated today to MIUI 13 Global version and.... not working. Again boot loop while configuring second space as a child's account
For anyone interested in setting up a managed child's account, I seemed to have figured it out. Take note, this is only for a single child's account on the Tab 5. Not for a tab being shared by two users.
When I first got the Tab, I set it up with a child's account and it was successful but I couldn't manage the account from family link and so tried to remove the accound and re add it but despite all the tricks above, it didn't work.
But this did work:
Totally factory reset the device and on the first boot set up the tab with the child's account. On this attempt everything went totally smooth (with no additional tricks). The account works fine and is totally managed by Family Link. Have been using it for almost a week smoothly.

With this particular option, one single child account, does it allow to install miui system updates? Tried with miui 12 with no luck

Yee, I updated to miui 13 a couple of weeks ago. No problem. But I did install family link on my phone to monitor the device. No problem on the update. All has been working smoothly.
