Exynos Variant? - Samsung Galaxy Fold Questions & Answers

Does anyone know if there is an exynos(bootloader unlockable) variant of the galaxy fold? Which would probably be the sm-f907f. I can't seem to find any details or confirmations on it.

So that means no twrp and the like. I think I'll pass this one.

I thought the same but I did buy one and found that the bootloader is 100% unlockable meaning no reason we can't root, have TWRP, etc.
I suspected it may be locked since the US variants are locked (generally anyway) but yeah - in this case it is NOT locked.

T-Mobile S4 - Bootloader Locked or Unlocked?

I'm on T-Mobile's website ready to order the S4 but I just want to know before I do if anyone knows for sure whether T-Mobile will lock the bootloader like AT&T.
Thanks!

Check post #3, he says his is unlocked using the motochopper.
Obtaining root is not related to the bootloader in any way.
According to this article - http://www.xda-developers.com/android/official-and-confirmed-att-galaxy-s-4-is-bootloader-locked/ - start of paragraph 3 - it's unlocked.
Still waiting for confirmation.
My bad. When I posted I read somewhere its locked lol

Most likely that may have been in one of my posts.. at the time AT&T _did_ have a verifiable bootloader (I wouldn't call it locked, per se; it just checks the boot and recovery images to make sure it's AT&T approved and is good on their network. and if AT&T images aren't used (or otherwise fooled), it'll result in a brick).
and that's awesome that the motochopper can be used to unlock bootloaders now.. motorola xoom (IIRC) all over again...

Motochopper is a root exploit. It does not unlock bootloaders.
Can anyone confirm this 100% one way or the other?

Yup, me too
Unlocked bootloader is not "always" necessary, the G2 have loki and not unlocked bootloader, whit great and a lot of development, i'm sure if we can get loki, don't need an unlocked bootloader.
Yes

Not loki but thecube said something about another kind of exploit, if it's not possible with the "standard" unlock.
Before buying the g3 , I already knew about th locked bootloader. But I just have to get it because of the sexy look . Would love to try cm , aosp on this phone but I can wait as the stock rom isn't that bad that I wanted to use cm straightaway .
You guys might be waiting some time ?, doubt it will happen, but hope the best for you.
Returned mine, but not only because of the locked bootloader

Always gotta be a negative person when it comes to boot loader being unlocked one way or another.. So please just go troll somewhere else
Got the phone, saled but if bootloader unlock i will buy again
Ive been waiting to buy it until the bootloader is unlocked. I refuse to spend my money on a device that im buying outright and not be able to do what I want with it.
LG your going to lose money if you don't allow an unlock. .sony does...htc does...samsung doesnt even lock the Canadian bootloaders.... ill buy from one of those companies instead until you do what is right for your customers.

verizon variant oreo

When will the Verizon variant get Oreo? Also is there any development going on as far as ROMs go for the Verizon unit? Any way to root and to safely go back to stock?

You can relock the bootloader, but the warranty void flag (via getvar) will still be tripped.

Would be awesome if we did; just came from Verizon Droid turbo (Moto Maxx) and the bootloader was not unlocked until sunshine devs made it possible. Not sure if they, or anyone else, is trying.

Verizon version - no OEM unlock ?

The flag does not exist at all in developer options.
Does this mean verizon version bootloader is not unlockable? (Locked down)

Thanks! I found something similar last night on a different site and it didn't seem to work. Later I will try factory reset + this procedure.
I know Verizon locks down the bootloader on the Pixels they sell... Hopefully not the same with their tablets!
Sorry to break it to you but the Verizon Galaxy Tab S4 has a locked bootloader that can't be unlocked. Pretty much any device you get on Verizon, you can expect to be locked down.

verizon vs unlocked google pixel difference?

I've got my eyes on a unlocked Verizon pixel 3 XL that's unlocked. How deep is Verizon's software in the pixel and would it even be possible to fully convert it to a regular Google pixel?

If the bootloader is unlocked I don't see any reason you can't use the non verizon firmware on it. The devices themselves are identical, just the firmware is different. Note that I have not done this so you're at your own risk.

As far as I know it's sim unlocked. If that's unlocked, bootloader should be unlockable as well right? Or how does the process go on the pixel?
On 6T it's you get a sim unlock, then you send a request application, once approved they send you a .bin to unlock the bootloader thru fastboot

No, sim and bootloader are two different things. You'd need the bootloader unlocked to flash the regular Google pixel firmware. Sim unlock just allows you to use the phone on different carriers.

I understand the difference so In another words the bootloader is not unlockable on the Verizon one and there is no process for once it's sim unlocked like it is on the Oneplus 6T (where sim unlock is required in order to unlock bootloader)

No you will not be able to unlock the bootloader on the Verizon variant weather it is sim unlocked or not. However you can uninstall all the pre loaded Verizon apps. I had the Verizon model and was able to uninstall all the bloat. The only difference is the bootloader and being able to root.

Correct, you might want to check this thread out. It is being looked in to but doesn't look all that promising.

I've read thru it, I mean someone will crack it sooner or later. Some fine folks brainstorming it. Wish it was as simple as on the one plus, you just wait 7 days and you're unlocked.
Is there a difference in model number or something on the box itself?

If you want an unlockable bootloader steer clear of verizon plain and simple. No way around it

I know, was trying to make sure the one I was getting on eBay was infact a Google one. Apparently there's a major difference in the label. Same model number etc. However there's a lot more writing on it. Mention of imported by Google Canada which isn't present on the Verizon one.
