N10+ Fingerprint scanner visible in sunlight or it's only screen protector? - Samsung Galaxy Note 10+ Guides, News, & Discussion

Hi,
I saw today on a sunny day that the fingerprint scaner is visible in sun. It's only visible on a white background. Have you guys same effect? Maybe it's original film protector effect?
Cheers

Already been a thread on this. I can shine the light from my other phone and see it on a black /screen off state.

I cant find that thread? Kinda curious what the reactions are.

If it was visible all the time then there would be a problem, but having to meet certain conditions to see it, conditions I'm not likely to have happen, who cares?
No phone will be 100% perfect no matter what you pay. I'm happy with what I got. Could it be better, yes (I'm looking at the loss of the headphone jack), but I can live with it... If it was a major problem I'd go with something else, that's the beauty of choice...

It's known, nothing to panic. Look in the Samsung S10+ forum it's a whole thread on it. Nothing to worry about though ?

What kind of reactions are you looking for? It's no big deal, it's the technology under the screen.
I saw mine the other day. My screen is off and the bright direct sunlight just happen to hit it at the right angle and I could see the sensor. I thought it was kind of cool, actually. Haven't seen it since.

Lcd on means light passes though it. So the sensor is seen.
Its all normal.

The only problem is there is no LCD (Liquid Crystal Display), it's OLED (Organic Light Emitting Diode) and I can barely see it if I shine strong flashlight on blank screen, at specific angle and know what and where to look. It's seems to be under semi transparent screen, as it should. Never notice it until now.

Hmmm... mild reactions But with my phone it's more persistent.
I had my phone 20 mins in direct sunlight and could still see the sensor when i was inside for more than an hour... Not good.

Da heck is the point of this thread? What the OP has seen is normal for the design of the phone. Other people still commenting saying its “not good” are just trolling.

The fanboy is strong in this one.
If i see the sensor inside in normal conditions, its definitely not good. I was curious if more people have this. Apparently not that much and this persistent.
Wow, internet is a cool place huh.

The bigger problem is why the fingerprint scanner is on the screen instead of the back or use the power button. It makes no-look fingerprint unlocking very unreliable. Note 9 had a perfect scanner and placement.

it's normal, that's the in-screen fingerprint

just ruined my one x screen due to flex issue.

Ok here's a warning to all of you, the edges of the screen are very sensitive to pressure I noticed the other day light pressure on the edge of the bezel would make my screen discolored, I just took my phone out of my pocket now and I have a yellow vertical band down the right hand side of my screen, I'm guessing my phone squeezed in my pocket when I got in the car for work this morning, just a warning to everyone be ultra gentle with your screens. :-( not happy.
having tested and unboxed over 15 HOXes
i can confirm to you some of them ripple under light pressure, some under some effort and few impossible to ripple
the ripple is a sign of imperfect screen lamination, if your's was very sensitive to begin with than it was defected out of box and hence the damage you have now
out of the 15 i tried, only one of them that my cousin own is completely ripple free no matter how hard you push
the one im talking about feels completely different to the rest, its extremely rigid on both left and right sides with such a tight gap that no dust can get it, like i said it has been an impossible task for me to find another one like it, this one is also perfectly clean and even on whites when viewed at every angle, ie: its lamination is flawless, early HT23 white
something is seriously messed with HTC screen fitting and its only time before more and more cases like this will appear
This phone gets better by the day...
Might dump it on ebay and .....
This is rediculous.... somone with money and power DO SOMETHING!!!!
Mod edit: Edited for language
The glass is pretty fragile anyway TBH. Mine has been in a pocket on it's own and still managed to become scratched after a week, whereas my last iPhone 4 went about two years without getting a mark on either side!

You should get a Samsung device, I here each of their displays are identically perfect. Seriously, I've never seen a mobile device forum where there weren't a percentage of complaints about the display. You can't build millions and have every unit perfect. Google "iPad/iPhone display issues" and you'll see no one's immune.

Thats the good thing about being able to manufacture your own screens and not have to rely on 3rd parties I suppose. Imagine being able to buy a HTC phone with a Samsung screen in it! Minus all the Hardware issues too!
Oh wait, were you being sarcastic!?!? lol

I have no idea why the poly wore out so soon, but my brother had the same thing on his HOX too. Well he just strolled into the HTC service center, and got it replaced for free too! :victory: Since your HOX is just a week old, you can try the same! (not sure if the people in your region will replace it or not though)

[Q] About those viewing angles...

Hi to all
I'm pretty new to the tablet market and I just bought the note 10.1 2014. I'm in my first 14 days where I can exchange/return my tablet and I want to make sure everything is ok with my stuff.
I've read countless online reviews before making my choice and, as you all know, one of the strongest aspect of the note 10.1 2014 is the display. Most if not everybody is praising the resolution, the colors, minimal color shifting, brightness and the viewing angles. Now, I want to make sure my understanding of lcd displays/viewing angles is good.
My tablet's display is gorgeous... when I look at it straight at it. I have the minimal light bleed on the edge which only shows on black and has 0 impact on colors which I'm ok with (all demos in stores are the same so...) As soon as I tilt the tablet though (vertically or horizontally), colors become very dull. Actually, colors do not shift but everything becomes dimmer/duller. Now, I suspect this is normal behavior from a backlit LCD but still, I keep reading reviews stating the display is gorgeous and bright even from an angle which is not 100% right for mine. I've tried to look at videos/pictures online but most people doing reviews actually setup a camera right in front of the tablet and barely move it once it's turned on so it's not helping me. So when you guys are saying the tablet's display stays vivid and colorful from every angle, are you getting the same kind of behavior my tablet has and are not talking about this because this is normal behavior for an LCD display or is my tablet's display defective?
Thank you very much in advance for your cooperation. If needed, I could take pictures.

As is typical of the Samsung displays, the viewing angle stability is great. The colors remain stable regardless of the viewing angle and we did not note any great loss in brightness.

Thank you very much for your reply. Well, I guess my tablet's screen is pretty similar to the test unit provided in the review. My definition of stable brightness and colors is pretty different from the behavior of that display But to know my screen behaves normally compared to other tablets is good to know.
Just enjoy this tablet..Don't spend hours looking for problems that arent there. This tablet is wonderful , I have had mine since December with no issues at all. I'm rooted with tons of stuff on mine. Most of the problems I have been reading about are people with way too much time on their hands. Have a beer , and love your tablet!!

Don't get me wrong here, maybe I did put too much emphasis on the display and I'm sorry about this. I love my tablet too. I'm just discovering the power of the tablet and the S-Pen, the integration is pretty amazing.
Cheers

Finger Print Sensor Crooked

Just got a moto z play and can't help but notice that the fingerprint sensor is not quite straight. It is ever so slightly crooked to the right. Is this a common characteristic or something unique to my phone?

It does not move up/down left/right. However it does move into the display ever so slightly when pressed.

If I wiggle it back and forth it doesn't move at all. If I press on it, then it moves ever so slightly down into the display.

Same as yours, there is a bit tilt, very very slight tilt, but you will get used to it after spending a day or two with the phone.
My Z Play is ok, doesn't have this problem...
Mine is the same but the lower left corner of my sensor's frame seems a little bent down inside... Don't know if this is normal either. By accident I once had instinctively pressed it a bit too hard mistaking it as a physical button... (which, from what I've read is pretty common to happen) Applying similar pressure doesn't seem to alter anything so I might just be too OCD about it.

So does my sensor , both work just fine.

Question Questions about Fold 3

Hi there, I've been waiting for the S22 unveil to see if it has a notch or not, and unfortunately for me, it does. So I'm now looking into the Fold 3, but I haven't got one in my hands yet, all I know is from pictures on the internet. A couple of questions I have, how noticeable is the camera hidden behind the screen? And, how noticeable is the crevice in the middle of the fold screen after a few months of use?
It's a lower res part of the screen (when opened) over the camera but to me it's not noticable
do you really disregard specs and choose your phones based on the notch? if so, there are phones without any notch at all like Asus phones.
Back to your question, you barely notice the notch when you're using the inner display. Actually you don't notice it most of the time because of the immersive experience

100% they did a good job at hiding the camera on the inside screen. You have to look for it in order to notice it. All your screen activity plays over the camera hole. So while I'm writing this it is currently the exact same grey as the rest of my notification bar. If I'm watching a YouTube video. Don't ever see it.
It looks like dot pattern circle, but it's not a big deal, to be honest.

Unless you know where and what to look for, you won't notice the camera notch and it it much better then punch hole. As for the crease in the middle, as long as the screen is in front of you, you won't even see it. For me it is much more bother to the finger then to the eye. Any way if you're into foldable, you wouldn't care about these.
I've had the Z Fold 3 for a couple of weeks now. While the underscreen camera is noticeable, it is much better than having a holepunch in your display. The crease is noticeable from certain angles, but once you are using the Z Fold 3. You will start to notice it less. These are all my perspectives of the Z Fold 3 for now
