Android 10 - Samsung Galaxy Tab S4 Guides, News, & Discussion

Hi
It seems (not a surprise), that Galaxy Tab S4 is on Samsung's list for the Android 10 update.
This information is not official, so we need to wait for a confirmation.

Now .... for the release date, I don't believe we will get it this year

Lifehacker: That Leaked List of Samsung Devices Getting Android 10 Is Bogus.
https://lifehacker.com/that-leaked-list-of-samsung-devices-getting-android-10-1838293051

Not going to happen, this is a Samsung tablet. Be happy if you get security updates for another year.

They should update this tablet since it been out for a year unless they've been pushing it out, then dump it.

Happened with the Note 10.1... Same type of update schedule too...
Tablets are the black sheep of the Android world, no-one wants to acknowledge the, they are given a room to themselves and essentially forgotten about...
Phones are the money spinners and get the royal treatment, though with Samsung that's not the highest priority either... It's always the "next big thing"...

Samsung Galaxy Tab S4 Android 10 update (One UI 2.0)
Samsung Galaxy Tab S4 is eligible for Android 10
Q2 2020 release is expected for the device
Android 10 update will be called One UI 2.0
By rolling out Android Pie update even for the budget range of devices that were 2 years old, Samsung has proven that it takes good care of its products. Tab S4 was launched in August 2018 and is only a single update and a year old.
Hence, we fully expect Samsung to release the Android 10 update for the Tab S4. As the Tab S4 won’t be among the first few devices to get Samsung’s Android 10 update, called One UI 2.0, you may expect the update to arrive in Q2 2020.
Though, there are slim chances of the*update being released earlier*than expected because Samsung seems to be doing very well in the update department at the moment by already handing out*T-Mobile*Android 10 build for testing on*Galaxy S10*and*Galaxy Note 10

Good care? It seem the bare minimum to me... Every manufacturer give 2 update...

I sure hope I am wrong, as I like my S4, but I'm not holding my breath for Samsung to update a tablet. I haven't even seen a security update in months, while my phone says February 5..

Found this buried in the UAE region of Samsung Community...
Android 10 (One UI 2) Update Schedule - Last updated 2020-03-17
It seems the Tab S4 is scheduled to get Android 10 with One UI 2.0 in July 2020, at least in the Middle East Gulf region.

Which is still fairly crappy as they have released UI 2.1...
You'd think we would at least get that since we will likely never see another update though they may release a security update around December if we're lucky... Though I'm not holding my breath...

Agree ... but better than UI2.0 is to have the upgrade from Android 9 to Android 10 that UI2.0 forces
Happy to get the update to android 10 this/next month.
Fingers crossed

New OTA?

I'm using stock, rooted UVMB4, no custom recovery. I just got a notification that TMo would very much like to push an update to my phone. Since the June 17th deadline is past, they should not be trying to push UVMD1 on me, but I cannot find any documentation of a new factory ROM dropping.
Has anyone else gotten a 4th of July present from TMo? If so, what is the build code? I rarely take OTA updates, but if I'm the first to see it, I guess I could take one for the team.

My wife runs full stock (lame) and she got an update notification as well, and she is on the MB4, I assumed it was just to the next SW (md1) but I didnt know that they stopped pushing it... I think I might run upstairs and do the update... ya... BRB
I tried to install the update, but it failed. The anticipated 4.2.2 update is supposed to be any day now, so perhaps this is it.

Dang. Oh well. If they're starting to push MD1 again, that must mean that 4.2 is going to be a while. I couldn't believe that I'd get an OTA before Sammobile heard about it.
Or if your the optimist like me, the 4.2 needs a file from md1 so they pushed md1 again to make sure everyone has it... btw, 100% not true

Second this. Note 3 will be the phone to have anything 4.2 related is part of their selling point for the note 3. We will not receive a 4.2 update period until after note 3 is launched. Period. Is their sales pitch for the new phone. Looks like the note 3 for the U.s. Will have a quad core snapdragon 800 as well. That disappoints me for sure. I wanted that octo core bad. I'd buy the in ter national just to get it.
Why push 4.2 to the note 2 while that will be one of samsungs top sales pitch to buy the phone. Doesn't make business sense. The second most important sales pitch will be the camera.
In my opinion we won't get 4.2 until way after note 3. But we are on xda. Who cares if you want it bad enough GET IT . Anyone with the basic know how can load 4.2 right now in less than 20 minutes and have root and all. Personally 4.2 doesn't really style my fancy anyways. It's kinda weird imo

About LOLIPOP UPDATE CLAM DOWN PLZ

I see a lot post here about lolipop update. Here are my word. We have enoth ram, enoth fast procesor, good display. So we have all specs to support lolipop but we got big problem that is our kernel and our soruces general, those are sooo outdated. Is about 1 y and half from last kk sources with is a lot(like from sun to earth). Reason whay Im talking about it is manifacture need to use specific code bruch to build Android. Look here for more LINK. We shoud get it till august. :highfive::highfive:
We have a Qualcomm MSM8228 Snapdragon Chipset. There's no a single record about it on this site. We will not get an official Lollipop, I'm sure for now.
EDIT - Maybe I exaggerated. Let's just wait some more.

Yes it's MSM8226

I've just bought the Samsung Galaxy S3 Neo (EU, 1,4 GHz) and it's really fast and stable which i didn't expect from a S3. This thing will rock lollipop with TouchWiz 5 without question.

i dont know will it be tw5, im thinking it will be like one on s4
also new fw is here 4.4.2 a lot changes. Im downloading it

changelog from 2486315 to 5034464 so i gess its somthing big
Hello, how about new firmware?;d Sth new? Newer TW would be perfect. I was watching this thread because I'm an owner of one s3 neo and I'm wondering if this update will arrive to Poland where I live? xD
New firmware is one big bag of nothing.
Just updates Google apps and everything else is just the same.
I guess this is samsungs way of saying: now you got your update, stop asking for more !!!
It's not even 4.4.4 it's the same Android version as before...
I guess this is it:
No lolipop on this device...
S4 Mini with dual core 1.7 GHz Snapdragon 400 and 1.5 GB RAM will not recive Lollipop. If our S3 Neo use Quad Core, I don't think they will recive lollipop.
If you want tu use Lollipop, try CyanogenMod 12.1
waste of time...
i dont think they will release lollipop for our phone...
just go for mandzo its amazing !
No lolipop from samsung, they are updating just couple of device's, s3 was cancelled months ago. Samsung is not big fan of lolipop because of bad integration of tw, and they canceled lot of updates....
Google is one to blame, bad lolipop experience is keeping manufacturers from lolipop...
As for S3 neo, there is 0 remaining official updates.
Sad as it is, we just have to accept it...

what fixes are you talking about ?
Nothing was broken in order to be fixed..
I didn't experienced any bugs on stock firmware, and i didn't noticed any performance improvements o this ****y update.
I even started experiencing bugs with stock email client with "sign in error" every 2 hours...
This shouldn't be even called update, but more like gaps and samsung bloatware update...

S20 FE Rumored to not get One UI Update in first wave

So apparently (according to somebody who has been reasonably accurate before), the S20 FE isn't getting the One UI update right away.

These tweets are from 6th October, maybe something changed in that matter in the meantime, who knows. Let's wait for S20 official update release and then complain
I saw, in the end of October, a stable test build with Android 11 on Samsung database for S20 FE 5G
seems that the samsung lied us their customers with this so called dan edition bullsh***.
the S20 FE will not fet OneUI 3.0 Android 11 until next year as it was confirmed on twitter.
pissed off as being taken by idiots by Samsung..
They are focussing on the touch issue which many devices have and i think its a hardware fault as they are unable to solve with the 3 updates and the 4th one is rolling out

Samsung have outdone themselves, S20-N20, S10-N10, and Tab S7 released all in one day.
PS, how long does it usually take for the other Tab S7 variants to get the same treatment?
Waiting for it to come out for the Wi-Fi version too.
@OP, it looks like you installed it? Any noticeable improvements? Bugs?
Nowhere to download for t970?
Sammobile got a hint that Tab S7 WiFi got it as well, but no hint as where. I cant find any info on T870BXXU2CULC build.
whats samsung got against the usa. why only Europe. seems usa always get firmware last
My tab S7 doesn't see the update although I'm in one of the countries 12 is supposed to release in.
Somebody tell me that I can't just flash the system and boot images for the T976B to my T970. Quick. Before I brick my T970 out of impatience haha
YEss!!
Got Android 12 for the Tab S7+ LTE, but not for the smaller Tab S7 Wifi. Looks like its only LTE getting 12 today =)
Can someone who got the update please post the changeling and / or screenshot of the update screen.
Also, please share your experience with what is new and what you like and dislike with the A12 update. It was quite buggy on the S21 Ultra at release and is still far from optimised. Wonder how it behaves on the Tab S7 series.
Still no Google Discover option to replace Samsung Free on the T875. I know it's not a big deal but it annoys me as it's an option on my partners cheaper FE model.

I'm not sure the T970B exists. I think it's either T970 or T975 or T976B
Maybe Sammobile meant T976B or T876B and that 0 was a typo, i think so.
This is the current latest test version in CheckFirm, it's simmilar to build you posted but without the B, which should be the correct way.
Not sure why samsung did not release the update for LTE and Wi-Fi models yet. Only the 5G models have it for now. Let's hope it comes out soon. I'm getting impatient

July I guess it's the same as last year it took them till the end of September to release the September update with a tone of fixes
It's funny how S22 (which was a good phone for me, but had awful battery life and heated a lot) is on October 2022 patch and we're still on July 2022. Guess we're going straight to that, skipping Aug/ Sept. Weird software support for the top-of-the line phone.
Unfortunately that's samsungs way older phones get the updates first then the newer September update has rolled in koria so will gradually roll to other countries

Yeah, this makes no sense. Most of the phones that I've owned were Samsung galaxy phones partly because of how quick and how long Samsumg supported their phones with operating system and security patch updates.

I hope this isn't indicative of what their security patch and operating system updates are going to be like going forward on this phone. This is on par with or worse than Motorola which is known for slow updates (I owned their expensive flagship Motorola razr 5g at one point and the pace of security patch updates on that phone was absurd -it was supposed to be every other month but was sometimes once a quarter and, when the security patch finally arrived, it wasn't even the most recent month).
I don't recall this long of a delay getting security patch updates on any other Samsung phone I've ever owned. Not a good first impression, Samsung.
I get what your saying but samsungs update tree always older phones get updates first and new ones are last to get ,, the update has begun rolling in Korea so will filter to other regions in days to come , but obviously the need for a fast update wasn't needed so that's a good thing as no major bug/issues currently and this update is just purely security and optimization , not to mention older handsets are getting 13 beta as well but doubt we will get a beta tbh
EUY released. EUX, hopefully, to follow. Still Sept. 2022 patch.

Will be as bad in Decemeber. Why do I feel this phone in terms of software support is the same as Xiaomi's Redmi whatever? )))

No, if like fold 2 and 3 we got 2 updates in October one had the September 2021 update then halfway through October we got an October update. Then it was every month we might have a delay though in December as one ui 5 should be in beta by then
