[Q] samsung galaxy note 2 shv-e250L variant concerns, help

hi! i am new here. i would like to ask a few questions regarding my samsung galaxy note 2 shv-e250L. pardon if some of the questions have been asked before, it is just i am new and i would prefer to make a new post so my questions would be specifically answered on this post. hopefully, you would all be kind enough to answer my queries. i would be very thankful.
anyway, here goes:
i have opened the hidden menu of the phone and it led me to this- please look at the following:
network setting/1. network mode
automatic
wcdma 1900
wcdma 2100
wcdma all
gsm 900
gsm 1800
gsm 1900
gsm all
lte b5
lte b1
lte all
since shv-e250L has the 850 and 2100 bands as mentioned in wikipedia , so i will only be able to use an lte capable smart sim which is being offered to prepaid subscribers. however, my questions regarding this screenshot are these:
a. what if i won't choose the automatic preference and change it to any of the choices, will it affect my lte signal?( that is if i am going to use the smart lte sim)
b. what do those lte b1, lte b5, lte all signify?
c. what does wdcma and gsm mean? what do they pertain to?
d. if i change any the choice from automatic to any of those, will it affect my text and call? or just the internet on my phone?
please look at this too. the following are:
lguhiddenmenu
1. ims volte settings
2. ims volte sip reg
3. ims volte error table
4. ims volte roaming setting
a. what does volte mean?
b. can i change any of the settings here?
c. will it affect the text,call, internet of the phone if i change any of the settings?
for example, look at the following:

lte/3g server dns is pcscf1.lteims.co.kr
wfi server dns is wifi.lteims.co.kr
server ip is 10.113.13.75
server ip2 is this allows you to enter a string
server ip3 is this allows you to enter a string
lte/3g-dns or ip(1=dns) is 1
wifi-dns or ip(1=dns) is 1
pco is 1
server domain is lte-lguplus.co.kr
lte/3g server port is 5060
a. can i change anything above?
b. these addresses pertain to korea, can i change these and will it affect the call,text, internet on the phone?
c. or should i just leave it?
i have been reading some posts about flashing shv-e250 models with different roms. i do not know anything about flashing or rooting because i have not tried it ever on my phone. so far on some posts, some users like the rom n7105 for the note 2. i would like to ask some questions about this.
1. if i flash my phone with the n7105 rom and install the kernel appropriate for the shv-e250L, will there be changes on the phone? can you give examples? will there be functionality of the phone missing like vibration, or etc? most of all, will the phone lag?
2. follow up to number 1, i want my phone to stay the same actually,that is with the same functionalities with the shv- e250L and i am contented with it but i just want to make the sms character count to 160 just like the regular phones(i tried handcent, sms pro, but sometimes they won' t even send more than 160, it is inconvenient); remove those korean apps because i won't be able to use them anyway; everything in english since i do not know korean; be able to see my phone number and the network provider in the settings. that is all. as for the rest, i want everything to stay the same. is the n7105 rom capable of these things and still have all the functionalities of the shv-e250 L?
3. what does kernel mean and what will it do to the phone ? in this case, changing the kernel to the kernel provided in this site for korean note 2s.
4. in wikipedia, samsung note 2 n7105 has bands 800,1800,2600. if i flash the phone with n7105 rom, will it have these bandwiths too? or the bandwidths of the shv-e250L will still remain even after flashing with n7105?
5. if ever there is a new update for the shv-e250L, how will i update since the rom is already n7105? or should i update using the n7105?
6. if i decide to change back to shv-e250L, how will i do that?
7. last question, i have kies on my computer, and downloaded some apps for the note 2. the shv-e250L is not recognized by the samsung appstore ph. is it because it is a korean phone ?? i tried switching to samsung appstore korea but the language i do not understand. if i flash it with n7105, will it be recognized by the samsung appstore ph as n7105? or what country- samsung appstore us or what particular country i mean? and will i be able to download apps now from the kies on the computer.
p.s. there are times when i do not use internet on the phone and since the computer at my house has internet, just dsl not wifi, so i use that in case someone will wonder why i just don't download using the internet on my phone.

You waited 10 hours to ask why no one had followed up? Patience is a virtue my friend.
You can pay with those settings if you want, but there is also a good chance you might break your phone. The menu's hidden for a reason, you aren't going to be able to activate lots of amazing features.
The answers to almost every question you've asked are to be found in these forums already. Spend a bit of time reading and searching.

EXACTLY.. plus am I correct in saying that the op will only get an LTE signal if its carrier supported. In which case if you leave it on auto in the settings he will get the best signal at present with the present carrier hes with... ps I wouldnt mess with any of those settings unless your completely 100% sure of what your doing..
Also as this is a question and query it should of been posted in Q and A section.

Setting up uk m8 for t-mobile trouble

I opened another thread regarding safest method to change from unlocked stock os to the T-Mobile release for Wi-Fi calling, possibly in wrong area as somewhat related to T-Mobile, however my main worry is ensuring I will have full 4g/LTE support, I am awaiting a sim card of a T-Mobile mvno, but I've seen several places I'd likely not be able to even use 3g without enabling the bands required, I've come across various guides .
Several said to use ##3424# or something alike(I'm out right now so can't confirm) to get into diagnostics, this does not work, I can however use the *#*#3424#*#*(again might be incorrect code) however this is self check options and to calibrate vibration etc, unable to connect with qpst with this.
Any help would be helpful, I purchased the phone second hand unlocked to use when I visit the US, I know it's unlocked and works in UK, just require it for use in US as I use an m9 as my main phone.
Would be nice to get the Wi-Fi calling function but not important.
Any help on how to go about this would be great.

Well I Have A T-Mobile RUU Thread I Made That You Could Use, It's Not Set For The US Or UK, Just For The T-Mobile Carrier

activate preferred LTE band(s) permanently

I have G710EAW (LG G7+) which has by default active LTE Bands 1,3,5,7,8,28. However I live in Europe and I with my carrier I would benefit from band 20 as well.
What I am doing currently, is via service menu I am activating manually all the bands I need (including band 20) in modem settings. This works perfectly fine, actually I am so used to it I can do it within seconds. Naturally after phone restart all is reverted.
It is a minor inconvenience, hence the question: any idea how to make the setting persistent or any tool that would do it after each reboot?
I would like to avoid installing firmware from other model (if that's even possible, I am layman in this...)

I don't know if Tasker needs root but you may be able to accomplish it with Tasker.
Although it may be a pain to setup i think tasker has a subreddit that you may be able to ask somebody who uses it more than I do

Hi, I'm also looking to buy the EAW version for the dual sim feature. So you confirm the phone has all the LTE bands but some of them are locked by the software installed?
I need a phone dual sim that works in Europe and USA....

Well I do believe Qualcomm Snapdragon is an excellent platform and the build-in modem is capable of all bands. I do have EAW version (I think originally from Hong Kong).
The band selection is not available from OS, but if you dial *#546368#*710# there is a hidden menu where in
Field Test -> Modem Settings -> LTE Band Selection I have these bands available:
1,2,3,4,5,7,8,12,13,17,20,25,28,29,30,38,40
To my limited experience any combination works just fine (I am in central EU). The drawback is that after reboot (or airplane mode) only the default (1,3,5,7,8,28) are on.

Just for the hell of it. I tried on my US phone, can't even access the menu Sucks.

It works for me on the T-Mobile variant you have to use the stock lg dialer and type the code in you cant just copy it in

How do you know this has worked? I toggled on the bands that I need bu there was no 'success' or save prompt and if I exit and re-do the process all the boxes are un-ticked when I navigate to the LTE bands page.

Sorry for late reply.. I'm using stock dialer, and enter in manually, still doesn't work.. Maybe it is a T-mobile code or something.. I'm not use to having a phone were I can't access the hidden menues..

Weird it takes me right to the menu once I hit the # sign on the end

I get the menu ok just no indication it has worked and the setting has stuck.

Problems Switching From Sprint to T-mobile

So, I was forced to switch from Sprint to T-Mobile. My phone is unlocked and has both CDMA and GSM. They put a new T-mobile SIM card in. They were able to get it to work on calls and text, but not data. The tech guy messed with it for quite a while. In the end, I temporarily switched to my old Moto X and it is working, so I have a T-mobile sim. The G7 has the same GSM bands as the Moto X so it should work.
I talked to an LG tech support specialist on the phone. He said that they cannot do anything due to proprietary software legalities, and that the phones are minorly different but there is no reason that it should not be working. He suggested that if it could be flashed to the T-Mobile software it would work, but of course they cannot do anything.
So what are the best options and method to get this phone to work on the T-Mobile network?
This is all in the US.

It would have helped if you told us exactly what model your G7 is.
What band is it defaulting to? Is it band 4?
Did you try a factory reset?
Try band 2, 4 and 12 in the service menu. I forgot the code I think its *#*#546368#*#*
Also, after changing bands in the service menu, you must go to "Network mode" and choose "Auto" (calls will instantly disconnect if you don't).

Sorry, yeah I can't remember the key combo if i'm not at the phone
So *#546368#*710# did NOT work?
I just tested it and it worked instantly on mine.
Does *#*#4636#*#* work?

I tried those codes, plus a few others i found online. None of them worked.
I did fine out that I am not the only one. It does not work for some other users with the G710PM. Does for others.
Question, can I just bypass all of this and flash my phone to one the the t-mobile versions?

After more research it appears that if I flash to G710TM (the base T-Mobile ) it will brick. Is there any other version that would work and may improve reception?

Question [5G/LTE Locking Bands] Reward?

Hello! So I got the Pixel 6 Pro and I am coming from Galaxy S20U (Owned Pixel 1/2/3/5)
So on my S20 I can change NR/LTE bands as much as I like without root by using an app or the hidden menu *#2236#
Where I work all day its all concrete walls, so me locking LTE Bands its a must.
I can not do that on my google Pixel 6 PRO and yes I tried *#4636# but those options do not work with me because you can not lock bands.
I am ok If I need to root my 6Pro in order to do this, Will Network Guru do this once rooted? I am willing to include reward $ for whoever helps me with this.

I'm sad to say that Network Guru simply won't work because Pixel 6, Pixel 6 Pro uses Shannon Modem for 5G, which is an Exynos modem (if i'm not wrong) and Network Signal Guru requires Qualcomm Modem to work.

Under settings__internet__gear wheel next to your carrier and scroll done to preferred network type. Unless you don't have that option.

I'm still trying to figure out diag modes for this phone. I can get the modem and serial devices to show up. Per my conversations with cstark:

Everything seems to be controlled by /vendor/bin/modem_logging_control and /vendor/bin/dmd.
Regular START/STOP calls to modem_logging_config from root shell can yield usable logs. We can also get the apps started in special SHANNON_DM or SHANNON_APP modes, but no idea what to do with them.
For example:

Thank you, I will try to be checking on this if decide not to return the phone. Is Airscreen a Magisk Module?

No, it's a desktop app. There is no band locking.

Can someone tell me the benefits of this mod? Genuinely interested.

Lower frequencies penetrate walls and concrete better than higher frequencies in the spectrum, at the cost of speed.
Locking a 5G/LTE band helps save battery life because it prevents constant hunting for a better signal between bands.

You can try your luck with 'Shortcut Master' app on Google Play. Once opened click on show all apps -> Phone services -> scroll until the bottom and click on band or radioinfo and click on Launch. Then you can change the band and frequency as per your liking.

No wifi at work?

A lot of workplaces have strict firewalls and network policies in place so it's understandable to use your own network connection for non-corporate usage

With this method let's say I choose class 9, it will remain locked?

I believe this is a WCDMA band selection and will have no effect on LTE/5G, am I wrong?

Not sure but I'm really frustrated that I don't get the option to at le last turn off 5G in any way :/

I think you can simply turn off 5G from the settings menu. (You can also set Prefferd Network type to LTEOnly from Radio info... *#*#4636*#*#)
The sad thing is that you can't fix the band in Network Signal Guru (or any other APP).
This may be difficult to do unless Google provides a development tool that supports Shannon modems.

The above looks like something different, aiming more at 'by region or country' to me. Not the traditional band selection found in other devices. It'd be nice to find out if we can systematically program these to hunt on certain LTE/5G bands. I am on a tmobile migrated sprint plan on my p6p. It works great except for that fact that where I live band 26 is garbage. The only solution realy is to find that sweet spot when it swaps to 25 or lock it into the device. So would be nice if the google momos release it, you know, in the spirit of open source, like they initially set out to do so many years ago when android started.
