LG V30 ThinQ US998Z official Android 9.0 Pie firmware - LG V30 Guides, News, & Discussion

https://www.mylgphones.com/lg-v30-us998-android-pie-9-0-update-now-available.html
LG today pushed the Pie Update for the LG V30 US998Z -

It's strange it shows the same version as the previously released beta (30b). I'm downloading the kdz right now, and will see if the kdz is any different from the beta FOTA version.

But the 30b version had a serious wifi-calling problem. The wifi-calling option was completely borked in the 30b beta version.

Yes. US998z is an internal number meant to distribute to U.S. Cellular but the hardware and firmware is no different that we can tell from authorized 3rd party retailers U.S. Open Market. Only IMEI is different. The reason was for official bootloader unlock code, which LG never officially announced for the US998...
For US998 KDZ we just grab first available firmware, normally.

Well, that was partial image OTA update beta.
This is full image KDZ, not beta.
When the "USA" KDZ is released it's possible it may be "30c", but this would be exactly identical I'm pretty sure. (Same way Canada H933 has 30k but its the same level firmware.)

HOW TO (temporarily) DOWNGRADE BACK TO OREO FOR BOOTLOADER UNLOCK
1) DOWNLOAD FIRMWARE AND DEV PATCHED LGUP
* Download Oreo KDZ you wish to install -- for bootloader unlock would be this CIS 20d. You can update to more current firmware AFTER unlocking bootloader on early Oreo.
* DOWNLOAD THIS DUAL VERSION OF DEV PATCHED LGUP, made by @tecknight:
https://androidfilehost.com/?fid=11410963190603845019
(Or use attached file from bottom of this post. Thanks to @tecknight! Please go here and click the THANK BUTTON!)
_________________
2) INSTALL DEV PATCHED LGUP
0. Uninstall any prior LGUP you have. Uninstall anything like Uppercut, which no longer works and causes conflicts with this Dev Patched LGUP.
1. Extract LGUP_DualMode.zip to a folder on your PC.
2. Browse into the folder and launch LGUP_Store_Frame_Ver_1_14_3.msi.
Follow the prompts to complete the install.
3. In that folder, right click and select "Run as Administrator" on "SetDev.bat" to set LGUP to developer mode
4. Launch LGUP using the desktop shortcut, NOT the Install folder shortcut.
Choose Process : PARTITION DL (all partitions)[/B]
----------------------------
3) DOWNGRADING/UPGRADING ANY LG V30/V30+/V30S TO EARLY OREO KDZ FIRMWARE
1) Go into download mode (power off completely, then hold volume up button while plugging in USB cable)
2) open patched LGUP and flash OREO KDZ to DL PARTITION mode. In the pop up box "Select All". Use the attached patched LGUP in this post.
You can also use REFURBISH mode, if you wish.
3) Master Reset (post 101 of Frankenstein thread)
5) DONE.
It's fairly easy. Most people breeze right through this. But if you have any problems, go through this list:
Make sure you in download mode BEFORE opening the patched LGUP file.
This is at the top of the list as some people forget to do that. The remainder are in no particular order. If that doesn't work,
Try different USB port,
Try different USB cable,
Try different computer.
Reinstall LG mobile drivers on your PC.
Reinstall dev patched LGUP again, making sure the files are placed where they need to go (LG Electronics folder, etc).
REBOOT THE COMPUTER.
If you ask for help, that's the list of items we are going to give you anyway.

4) IF YOU NEED TO UNLOCK BOOTLOADER (with early Oreo), GO READ [URL="https://forum.xda-developers.com/showpos
IF you are using this for bootloader unlock purposes, then you probably want DL PARTITION mode and choose all partitions.
NOTE: @crubbish says he unlocked his bootloader on his H930DS using THIS Oreo. He says he did not flash the European open market H930. While the H930 Oreo KDZ will give H930DS users dual SIM functionality (at least a dozen users who unlocked their bootloaders and rooted say so) -- this definitely will also, as it's an H930DS Oreo KDZ.
I am only posting it due to @crubbish's statements. You can use this Oreo KDZ, and have fastboot flash commands which allow you to unlock your bootloader, install TWRP and root using the new_unlock.bin code from the WTF thread.
It's an alternative to the H930 Oreo KDZ in the instructions in that thread.

Issues with what?
This is stock LG Oreo KDZ from LG for CIS region H930DS.
The only reason you would use this would be to upgrade any H930DS from Nougat to Oreo (but you can also do that with European H930 Oreo KDZ) and/or to get fastboot commands to bootloader unlock, install TWRP and root any H930DS (which you can also do with European H930 Oreo KDZ).
Both will still give any H930DS the dual SIM functionality.
This is just an alternative KDZ for anyone who wants to use it. Some H930DS users don't trust single SIM KDZ, even though we've shown dual SIM functionality remains.
I dont know if im talking sensible or not but please tell me this rom for cis regions will work with indian lg v30+ variant and any issues in this rom beside jio volte not working.
Thanks
EDIT: If you want India Oreo KDZ with pre-July 2018 firmware so you can unlock bootloader, use this. Then after bootloader unlock you can safely update to latest India firmware. That will also give you Jio VoLTE.

Yes, it will work for India H930DS V30+, except for Jio VoLTE (which is Jio fault).
It will also give you the same bootloader unlock capabilities (fastboot flash commands) as the European H930 Oreo KDZ, from what @crubbish says.
Just checked in the G6 forum and i heard that H870DS version has started its oreo roll out in Asia Pacific region, finally..
means, H930DS' turn will be next, just wait..
But, my question is, if we have updated using the LGUP, (no root etc) and some day there is an OTA update from the LG server, can we still see the notification and download the update over the air just like normal? It should be able, right?

hi, just checked the download link. looks like the file is still H930DS20n_00_OPEN_HK_DS_OP_0416.kdz rather than the CIS version. is it the correct link or is it a different KDZ but under the same file name?
meanwhile, what's CIS? which region is it?

Thanks. Hold on let me correct the link. I also have the HK version in my Android Host files. That's really strange, but guess I copied and pasted the wrong URL.
EDIT: link corrected. Thanks again for letting me know.
From what I was told, CIS is a group of former Soviet/Russian republics.
The Commonwealth of Independent States (CIS) formed when the former Soviet Union (now called Russia) totally dissolved in 1991. At its conception it consisted of ten former Soviet Republics: Armenia, Belarus, Kazakhstan, Kyrgyzstan, Moldova, Russia, Tajikistan, Turkmenistan, Ukraine, and Uzbekistan.

No. It's just LG stock Oreo for H939DS.
It has no advantages over any other H930DS Oreo KDZ (like Hong Kong).
I mean, if someone wants to create a full stock flashable zipped ROM, feel free. But when people do stock-based ROM they usually take stuff out or still make changes.
Edited to include information on July 2018 and later security patches.
_________
H930DS20d_00_OPEN_CIS_DS_OP_0526.kdz. Flash with LGUP attached to post #1. This is one V30/V30+ firmwares that have the necessary fastboot flash commands to unlock your bootloader, install TWRP and root with the WTF method.
Safe to flash if you have not yet unlocked your bootloader, as it has May 2018 security update, not yet the July 2018 security update (which will reportedly block the bootloader unlock exploit). You can tell by the date in file name 5/26 (2018) -- not when it was actually released to the public (early June 2018).
Previous firmware was H930DS20c_00_OPEN_CIS_DS_OP_0419.kdz, which was finalized on 4/19 (2018), even though it was released in early May 2018.
Any firmware updates with July 2018 dates or later, do NOT use until you have unlocked your bootloader!
If you have unlocked your bootloader, you can flash any firmware update and your bootloader will remain unlocked.

FYI, for those who don't know what we are referring to in the "June 2018 security patch." But we are trying to warn people.
Android Security Bulletin: Everything you need to know!
https://www.androidcentral.com/android-security-bulletin
Highlights for June 2018
June 2018's update comes with two patch dates: 06/01/2018 and 06/05/2018.
LG, Qualcomm, MediaTek, and NVIDIA all provide important fixes for their assorted binaries across all devices, and critical issues with the bootloader were patched by Qualcomm and LG.

NOTE: "critical issues with the bootloader were patched by Qualcomm and LG." Qualcomm is even getting involved.
What does that sound like? Fixing the LG Oreo bootloader unlock exploit, where ANY unlock.bin command (even one for a Huawei phone) will unlock the bootloader, even if it says it FAILS?
Yes, @TxanMoe then created his own new_unlock.bin code which does not give a "FAIL" notice, and I also experimented with an "official" LG Developer website bootloader unlock code on one of my eBay LS998 V30+ which I converted to US998 V30+. It succeeded, but should not have since it was for a open market V30 with another IMEI and DeviceID. The current LG Oreo exploit something so wonderful you can only dream about it. But it's real. And it sounds like LG and Qualcomm are rushing to close it.
But anyone who ever wants root should unlock their bootloader now or risk forever that door being closed.
WTF V30/V30+/V30S Bootloader Unlock and Root (MOST VARIANTS)
Sorry to bother you ChazzMatt, im going to try download oreo on my v30, do you have detailed video how to flash oreo. It would be very helpful.

it's 128gb for the h930ds vs. 64gb for the h930, so gpt shouldn't be flashed i assume would be interesting, just because of freakin' volte sh¡t...

If you install via upgrade it'll wipe your TWRP. Best to DL PARTITION, but Uncheck the recovery partitions. That will keep TWRP custom recovery. Boot to TWRP, flash those three files. With TWRP backup and Titanium Backup you can restore all data and apps.

I already posted full India Oreo KDZ. You could have had it long before now.
All LG V30 OREO has ThinQ.
_____
India/Philippines/Indonesia is all the same KDZ, with the same md5. It auto-detects what hardware you have and installs the specific country stuff. India service app is installed for India H930DS.
I uploaded both the "Philippines" KDZ (but it's also the official India and Indonesia Oreo) as well as uploading "India" KDZ -- all prior to today. See down in development section.
Everyone could have had this since June 21, instead of July 11. Simple installation via LGUP.
And yes, I will probably keep saying this as long as people keep posting the India Oreo is "now" available. I made it available WEEKS ago and repeatedly tried to educate people about this. A few listened and have had India Oreo for WEEKS.

ZENFONE 5 ZE620KL [OFFICIAL] Android 9 - Pie

UPDATED: Official Android Pie (9) is now available for the WW variant.
Do you want the update? Read on!
You can download from here (~1,88 GB): https://dlcdnets.asus.com/pub/ASUS/ZenFone/ZE620KL/UL-ASUS_X00QD-ASUS-16.0610.1812.58-1.1.15-user.zip
You must be on WW 15.0619.1810.73 or Android Pie Beta in order to update! If you're on a different ROM, you may brick your phone!
Update method A:
Download the file - linked above
Put it on your phone to "Internal Storage" (root of Internal Storage, don't put it into folders like Download/DCIM/Android, whatver...)
Restart phone (Power button > Restart)
After restart, you'll get a notification, that a new software is available. Yes, install it. Wait until it's complete and you're done!
Update method B:
Download the file - linked above
Put it on your phone's SD card (this only works if you have an sd card in your phone - obviously)
Turn off phone
Hold down Volume Up and Power buttons for a couple of seconds (until the ASUS logo appears)
Choose "Apply update from SD card", choose the zip file and do the update
Reboot after done (or wipe data/cache if you want)
...or you can also use ADB to sideload the file, but I won't detail it now (unless requested).
About Pie notes
Camer is same as before.
Digital Wellbeing app isn't compatible with the device.
New gesture based navigation is working, new dark theme is available in ASUS theme app, new animations are also working.
Thank you for this information. The first method worked well with me.

BND-LGRP2-OVS 9.1.0.117

Thanks Mrmazak. I am not in a hurry to install any updates, as the phone is working just fine, for now.

Nice info, I actually tried to install that one with the manual dload method, didn't install tho.
There appears to be a new firmware available on Firmware Finder specifically for European models tho, other than that one, just appeared today
Eagerly waiting... would like to update to Pie... and also hope to use some real custom rom which is not in BETA

Nothing new for European and American models, seems like Emui 9.1 is out for Chinese version tho. If what Honor said months ago stands true, we need to wait until June for a beta

June's almost done, has there been any news of the beta coming out for BND-L24 yet?

You cn check using the FUT app, but I wouldn't be surprised if they actually skipped America this time seeing how things are playing out with Trump.
I was able to join the beta project in my country, there was no announcement of it however

Guess I'll have to wait for an OTA update (if they decide to release one).

yes, I saw some information but since I came from nowhere I don't know about almost everything, I've barely been with him for several days. I know that before doing a factory reset with msm tool I was on build c19, tmobile and oneplus have suspended the updates?

No need, you have already answered my question
What errors are you getting when trying to update...I assume you are on TMO stock rom.

Do you know if I should use another msm tool? I am really not satisfied if my oneplus does not update to the latest version and, I do not see the option of ram plus. my oneplus is full stock, i have not unlocked bootloader, crosflash or mod

Do you care to switch from t-mobile to global firmware ? Because you can download the 11.2.10.10 global firmware and local update it.

I don't want to modify the phone, I'm not interested in doing crossflash if I have to modify it, but if I can use it normally without making modifications, yes, I'm going to do it. Do I need to modify something or do I just install the rom as if it were the one from tmobile?
Hey now i'm not able to freeze some apps you can freeze like youtube, Chrome for example. Freeze button greyed out

What ? Just download the 11.2.10.10 and local upgrade.
After the local upgrade to 11.2.10.10 you'll be on a global firmware so it will automaticly ask you to upgrade to OxygenOS 12
