Enable Camera2API in stock ROM - Lenovo ZUK Z2 (Plus) Questions & Answers

Guys, is there any way to enable the Camera2API in the stock ROM (in 3, 4, or whichever stock version) and keep the phone with locked bootloader and stock recovery? That is a complete stock ROM with only Camera2API enabled.

Theoretical answers
1. Install stock ROM by qfil , root it, flash oos hal.zip, again unroot completely and then flash stock qfil with skipping system partition.
2.modify system.img and replace camera libs from oos zip
And then flash stock. Problem with this is may be size of system.img would be changed and so the flashing with qfil will require changes in rawprogram XML files

Help please for a noob question.

Hello all developers, I have a noob question, please guide. I have ZenFone 2 running on stock android 5.0 and it is rooted. Now I have to flash custom roms and mods but also want to update stock Rom to android 6.0 whenever ASUS provide updates. So I have a simple idea as below -
1) Install flashify app.
2) Take backup of stock recovery.
3) Flash CWM.
4) Take nandroid backup.
5) Now I can flash custom roms.
6) When ASUS provide updates, flash nandroid backup.
7) Flash stock recovery through Flashify.
8) Full unroot from supersu.
Thus my phone will be fully stock and I can update stock Rom to android 6.0 .
Will this trick work; please tell. I am eagerly waiting for your replies.

you have to unlock bootloader if you want to flash custom rom !!!
if you unlock bootloader with official tools. you cant receive any update from asus with OTA. but you can flash full stock rom with twrp via sideload or edit stock rom zip then install with twrp.
somebody can unlock bootloader without official tools (i dont try) and they can update OTA
srr my english

Thank you very much for the information. Btw, can I make changes to stock Rom without unlocking bootloader and revert back to fully stock phone when OTA comes with the above method ?

Going back to Oreo - Downgrade

Hi there, I have my reasons, but I want to return back to a custom Oreo rom, I'm currently on a custom ROM with the latest firmware 9.0.7, so is it a case of downloading a earlier stock firmware, flashing in recovery? Also as I want to stay decrypted too, do I still use the v4 no Verity file on Oreo?
Thanks everyone
I am also thinking of going back to Oreo and have my reasons also. I think the best way would be to use the Aroma installer by brad which has oreo stock too.

would also be very interested if downgrade is possible. bought a used 5t with pie but need xposed and a few modules. anybody out there who tried downgrade?
Hi..I successfully downgraded my 5t to Oreo ob19 using flashable zip from below link
https://forum.xda-developers.com/oneplus-5t/how-to/oneplus-5t-mirrors-official-oxygen-os-t3708099
Copy the rom zip to internal storage. Reboot into stock/twrp
Wipe data/cache reset system settings
Flash zip and wipe cache then restart
We are back into the good old Oreo...

Thanks. I know how to magisk work again.
But flash custom kernel can get OTA?
Or i need flash back factory OTA?
The link you were given is relevant.
You flash an OTA update on a custom kernel the same way it's done with Magisk. They both affect the boot.img.
The custom kernel is the boot.img and Magisk patches the boot.img. In either case, you take am OTA you have to revert to a stock boot.img.

How to get update.zip for stock firmware update via TWRP

Hi,
I am running stock Android 9.0 firmware on my Samsung Galaxy S9 (SM-G950F) with TWRP recovery and Magisk.
I want to update my firmware to a newer stock Android 9.0 firmware by flashing it as update.zip in TWRP, without formatting data.
I have downloaded the ODIN flashable firmware from sammobile, but this is not a TWRP flashable zip.
Where do I get an update.zip or how can I genereate it?
Thanks,
Stefan

uhm... wut? You cant do what youre asking. Youll have to get a compiled ROM and flash it. I dont have a rootable version of the S9, so im not familiar with the ROMs that are available, but are there not any 9.0 ROMs you can flash?
Actually, I would also switch to an already compiled ROM, if it wold be possible to do without wiping the data partition. But all ROMs have this as a prerequisite, if you switch to them from a stock ROM.
I will probably try to flash the stock firmware via ODIN with Home_CSC, although this is riskier than flashing the firmware via TWRP.
A better way, as I understand would be to get a Samsung OTA firmware file. Since https://firmware.science is down, does someone know an alternative?

you dont flash firmware in TWRP, just ROMs. And if you flash a deodexed stock ROM that has the same base as yours, you shouldnt need to wipe
Flashing a deodexed stock ROM sounds good. By same base do you mean the baseband version (G950FXXU4CRKB in my case) or the build number (R16NW.G950FXXS4CRLB)?
