Notice
I like to share my work for my Samsung Galaxy Tab S5e (LTE). I have compiled this kernel so that my Galaxy Tab performs better and rooting with Magisk works better.
I'm testing this kernel on my Samsung Galaxy Tab S5e (gts4lvwifi) device and I think it should work on the Samsung Galaxy Tab S5e LTE (gts4lvlte) too.
The kernel I use on the latest Samsung Stock ROM with Magisk 20.3 and Magisk Manager App + Ex Kernel Manager.
The source code is a fork from the official LineageOS 17.1 sources.
The kernel runs for me with LineageOS and Stock Samsung ROM.
Sometimes I get a lot of help or feature requests from users of my LuisROMs and LuisKERNELs. My dog Luis and I try to fulfill most of the wishes, but that is not always possible. I do that as a little hobby and Luis does not always want to build ROMs . Please understand if I can not always answer directly.
Kernel: I have pached up the Kernel to Linux 4.9.217 with many mods other devs (thanks to @LuK1337 for the base an incredible work!)
Pached from 4.9.112 up to 4.9.217 from caf
Removed lots of excessive bloat (improves security and performance)
Improved stability (several bugs not listed here have been fixed)
Boeffla Wakelock blocker driver V1.1.0
More I/O-Schedulers (fiops, sio, zen, maple)
Added fsync on/off support.
Disabled crc check
Optimized for performance and battery life
Compatible with EX Kernel Manager
Compatible with systemless root (recommend Magisk 20.x or higher !!!)
Wireguard kernel support
Many other misc. improvements not listed here
First time installation:
Unlock the bootloader, 1. Connect to WiFi network, 2. Enable OEM Unlock in developer options, 3. Turn off the tablet, Boot to download mode manually by plugging in USB and holding all the buttons for few seconds, 4. Follow instructions on the screen
Connect to WiFi network and make sure OEM Unlock in developer options is still checked
Flash custom VBMeta image ( http://luis-builds.de/downloads/lineageos/cr/Samsung_Galaxy_Tab_S5e_(gts4lvwifi)(gts4lvlte)/vbmeta.tar ) in Odin ( use AP slot )
After flashing VBMeta, boot to stock. It'll likely ask you to wipe data, if so do that
Connect to WiFi network and make sure OEM Unlock in developer options is still checked
Now you can flash TWRP ( gts4lvwifi > https://dl.twrp.me/gts4lvwifi ) or ( gts4lvlte > http://luis-builds.de/downloads/lineageos/cr/Samsung_Galaxy_Tab_S5e_(gts4lvwifi)(gts4lvlte)/twrp-3.3.1-0-gts4lvlte.img.tar ) in Odin ( use AP slot once again ), for convenience you can hold volume up while flashing it so that you boot to recovery right after it's flashed
Boot into TWRP (press power and vol+)
Install latest LuisKERNEL (.img) LuisKERNEL-4.9.XXX-twrp-2020XXXX.img
Optional: Install latest Magisk https://forum.xda-developers.com/apps/magisk/official-magisk-v7-universal-systemless-t3473445
Reboot ( make sure to not install TWRP app when TWRP asks you to )
Update:
Boot into TWRP (press power and vol+)
Install latest LuisKERNEL (.img) LuisKERNEL-4.9.XXX-twrp-2020XXXX.img
Reboot ( make sure to not install TWRP app when TWRP asks you to )

Enjoy!
Frank

Just got the device today, Happy to see a kernel is available for the device.
Shall try it once I confirm device is working fine ( to void warranty). Feel the device is pretty sluggish with default kernel.
Does this kernel have kcal support?
Thanks a lot for the kernel.

update - Tried the kernel on sm-T720 , worked without issues. No kcal support.
- please consider adding kcal/color/saturation options if possible.
Thanks

I bought a used tab s5e from a local electronics store for less than half of the msrp. I then discovered that it wouldnt charge past 70%. Later I peeled off the sticker on the back and the tablet said 'not for sale'. It turns out that this was a display unit and these are configured to not charge past 70% to protect the battery. I didn't want to return it because it was a really good deal even if it doesn't fully charge. My question is will flashing this kernel allow my tablet to charge to 100%? Or this kernel will not be compatible with it? Thanks in advance.

There's an option in the battery settings that limits the tablet from charging beyond 85% to extend the battery life, you can take a look at that first. If that doesn't help, you can try a custom ROM and Kernel. Start with the kernel, as it is less intrusive. but to be honest, I have no idea if that would help. You can also try a factory reset.
If I was a betting man, I'd bet on Samsung limiting that device's charging capacity though the ROM.

Is there a way to go back to stock kernel if desired?

Thank you. Love it.
But if i will be asked to install the kernel, where to install the kernel?
Boot or....
Thank you.

Yes. Boot partition.

Thanks for your method
Magisk V20 and V21 (Canary) have problem with T720 and gives vbmeta error.
Your method makes V21 (Canary) successfully installed as well as ROM up to date.

Try to install official full ROM (use Frita to grab ROM) and flash with Odin (CSC to wipe everything) and see first.
If everything works as it's supposed to, do everything at first post (flash kernel as boot)
You may need to install Magisk Manager and you may need to run few setup for it.

Everything is working nicely. Thank you

Following your steps worked. Thanks for sharing

[kernel] [pie] [9]
After installing [KERNEL] [PIE] [9] LuisKERNEL GTS4LVLT, the tablet appeared in the device manager. But it is not visible in the conductor and nothing can be copied to the micros. Is everything visible in the conductor with the stock carnel. Is this a problem?

I have the same problem. I get the error "The connected device is unable to access data on this device." That seems to be the only problem. I can't move files between the tablet and the PC. I have the 128GB Wifi version. I'm on stock Pie firmware with this kernel and rooted with Magisk v20.0.

Same here. No connection to PC

Results of yesterday's experiments: 1.Installed stock Rom (tablet launched and it can be seen in the Explorer) 2.Installed TWRP (tablet launched and it can be seen in the Explorer).3.Installed Magisk (the tablet did not start.Constant restart).Installed LuisKERNEL (tablet launched and it is not visible in the Explorer).

2) Read our FAQ, which can be found on our website. Carbon FAQ
3) Ask a question in your device forum. Someone will no doubt try to help you. Warning: this help may come in the form of telling you it's a dumb question that has been asked before. * Enforcing SELinux + user build

Initial Release
BUGS:
* Connecting to data for C6902 devices is buggy (read FAQ).
* NFC may or may not be broken (I cannot test it as my device does not have the NFC plate).
FAQs (Please read before posting questions):
Q: Does the ROM support OMS and theming with Substratum?
A: Yes it does! Simply enable "Allow untrusted overlays" from Settings -> CarbonFibers -> Privacy and Security and follow the instructions that follow.
Q: Does the ROM work on C6902 as well?
A: Yes, but you will face a few issues while trying to connect to mobile data. Apparently the way to make it work is by going to *#*#4636#*#* -> Phone Info, change the network mode to WCDMA only, and turn on and turn off airplane mode.
Q: Is the ROM rooted by default?
A: No, please flash your favorite root solution after installing the ROM.
Q: Do I need to make a factory reset before installing this ROM?
A: If you're moving from cr-5.1 official builds to cr-6.1 builds, then a factory reset is recommended. Some have been able to dirty flash their way from cr-5.1 to cr-6.1, but before trying that, make sure you have a backup, in case you're caught in a bootloop. Clean install is ALWAYS recommended. If you face any issues after dirty flashing, clean flash first and see if it's persistent and only then report the bug.
Q: SafetyNet?
A: Sure, if you use Magisk and enable Magisk hide.

Try to install advanced kernel img via fastboot. Then reboot. In the kernel is twrp 3.1 included. Then you're able to boot into that recovery. Wipe all and try again to flash

Reflashing stock, flashing twrp again doesn't help, still same issue, something is wrong with carbon rom oreo zip

I have no issues of battery draining on my end. Nor did I face heating issues. My phone went to deep sleep and drained less than 1% an hour. Maybe you should just let it settle down for a few days and see if it helps.
If not, maybe it's me not using a SIM card or gapps giving me a better experience.

USING ASD5 KERNEL!! ONLY SECURITY PATCH/REST OF BASE IS ASE6, BUT ALL ASE6 FEATURES ARE INCLUDED!
THIS MEANS TWRP WORKS FINE!
How to flash:
Install TWRP patched with Magisk
Format data (if this is first time flashing custom)
Flash my ROM
Remember to not press reboot system on first boot, but rather go to TWRP home and select reboot to recovery :good:
For already custom users:
Just flash my ROM and select clean flash in the aroma, and then press finish and make sure to reboot recovery and not reboot system on first boot :good:
DEBLOATING CHROME WILL CAUSE 3RD PARTY APPS TO BREAK!!, ITS A SAMSUNG ISSUE NOT MY ISSUE
Kernel: Included kernel is stock kernel, and does not require source declarance!
-Diamond 2.0
Changelog:
-Improved speed
-Fixed ALL bugs!!, works perfectly now in all cases
-Fixed Device care
-Added 8 icons to dock in launcher mod
-Updated base to ASE6 (kernel and a few things still ASD5)
-Chrome removed from debloat options (Will cause 3rd party apps to break if deleted as they rely on it!!)
-Tested and works well on both S10 and S10+ G973F/DS/G975F/DS, not tested on N models but should work 100% fine
Links are in OP!
Remember to press thanks if this is exicting !
Thread will be updated and made look better at some point.
Will be fully rebased to ASE5 when it will fully support TWRP.
But all the things Samsung updated in this version are added in this build
Only kernel is the ASD6 one. That means ASD5/6 TWRP works fine with no camera issues
DOES NOT SUPPORT S10e yet!! this project will be updated so stay tuned!
Supported variants:
G975F
G973F
G975N
G973N
G975F/DS
G973F/DS
G973FD
G975FD
ALL CSC INSIDE
Will test in a while...
So far so good really smooth and stable. I even updated magick without any problem
kernel problem
it keeps saying installing kernel then it says failed?
Nice rom working everything thanks
For twrp are we able to flash gsi on S10?
Thanks for the rom! :victory:
At last a good reason for rooting my s10+ , I hope you will add more mods later like jpeg 100% in camera or long press back button to kill app

Hi please reboot your phone. it should solve it, i experienced this on stock and it appears to be a Magisk issue. the new magisk 19.3 update which may be included in my next rom will fix this.

Now that I've managed to unlock my M3 Lite I've decided to jump in with both feet
I've put this LineageOS 17.0 on with CyanogenMod OpenGAPPS 10 full. I'll let you know how I get on.
Do I need to update TWRP from 3.2.0.0 to 3.3.1.0?
thanks

Yes you can update now Twrp to 3.3.1.
Btw I didn't tested GAppps. So if it's not working just remove it.
This is happening a lot when I go into Setting: "android setup keeps stopping"

Ok, just remove GApps and see how it's working ... later you can install nano or pico, not full version of GApps !
EDIT :
Full version of GApps it's not recommended at all as there is just a Betta LOS 17.0 !
Awesome!, thanks for providing full source.
I'm getting the same error "com.qualcomm.qcrilmsgtunnel" keeps crashing until I manually close the app on clean install, I have a tablet with no sim. Other than that the tablet seems to be working fine.
After installing opengapps android setup crashes repeatedly, but after disabling android setup, play store works as normal.

Thanks, I didn't know if the 'android setup' was important or not. Have disabled it and all quiet now.
I tried a few version of GAPPS10, Pico, Nano etc. and still got the errors. Once 'android setup' disabled now issues.
Thanks
Installed without GApps. Seems fine so far. Will test more once it completes charging. Thanks for all your hard work man. you have really enhanced the overall experience with this tablet.

Thank you for feedback!
Hi I try to test this rom, very nice!! But it still has many bugs, but I'm sure it will improve over time! Report that it is present some bugs, when start cpuz app the device restarts suddenly, Chrome some times stop to work , the microphone does not work in any app (eg. google assistant "hey google") work with earphones. When you record a fingerprint and then reboot the device you lose the fingerprint setting.
Thank you so much for the chance to try an updated version of andorid on this tablet!!
I hope to be helpful, a great job has been done.
I will try this rom for a short time but will return to the stock version, it won't be easy to go in stock, because there is no custom rom based on the original firmware.
I will find a way to return to the stock.
Bye bye.

Thanks for feedback ! Btw, I already noticed fingerprint issues .... but as you already said the ROM will be improved with each update !
At this time even Lineage OS didn't released the stable source yet .
@surdu petru Do you have the possibility to make a custom rom based on the latest stock rom to flash via twrp? It would be a great thing.
Thank you for your work!

Sorry, no way ... I tried a few time to revert to stock but my device can't boot on stock recovery from some unknown reasons .
But there is a few users wich already reverted this device to stock after installed Lineage OS 16.0 ( Android Pie ), so you could search on Lineage16.0 thread for their posts, or you can get in touch with them through PM.
Good luck !
Ok no problem.. I'll find a way to get back to the stock .. But first I'll try the other roms with Android 9. Thank you

Gapps
The recommend package at the moment is this:OpenGapps_arm64-BETA
* Flash this after first boot(with patch zip flashed) and ignore Setup Wizard errors
* Open Play Store and Log in
If you get some errors about Play Services make sure it has full permissions.
Aosp has "ugly" ui
I am sorry for giving you AOSP, hi6250 sources aren't good for other rom actually. As soon as I am able to fix these issues with other custom roms I will provide them, otherwise I will customize it starting from next build by bringing pixel styles and new apps with recent ui look.
NOTE: while inatalling gapps you can may face error 70 insufficient space error, just resize system and if the problem persist flash pico gapps !
Thanks for developer
I'm testing it right now. Flashing runs flawless. Rom runs well so far. ... More later.
First of all, I'm glad that I can use a pure aosp on this phone now. It can be used as daily driver. A cool thing is that I only needed to set device fingerprint to p8lite in magiskhideprops to fully pass safetynet. now it only needs nfc working, but I guess we need to wait for phh and his updates for now.
Two things I recognized pretty fast are GPS needs little help to get a fix, first fix needed nearly 4 minutes but then it gets fast fix but always with support (used gpstest from f-droid store) and downloads via wifi are generally (quite) slow.
Also I can't copy stuff from intern to ext sdcard.
This is not a real "bug report" as it is possible that I did something wrong, you'll never know. Just talking and see if anyone has the same issues. Cheers
Added new gapps and steps for their installation in OP and 2nd post.

Thanks for reviewing, I forget to include GPS stuff, in next build it will be fixed !
Nfc is almost fixed, we got it enabling at the moment.
For sd card I will take a look.

Q looks promising for our chipsets.
I am working on to include everything in the system.img without using another zip. Do you want gapps included too?
For this time i preferred to use .img instead of a .zip format because most of TWRPs have some flashing issues. Do you want back the zip or no? I prefer no tbh, dunno about you. Let me know

It is a good decision to leave it as system.img, you mentioned it already, no flashing issues. Included gapps would shorten the flashing procedure a little, so I would also prefer this too.
PS: i just shared the fix to simply spread the ongoing progresses a little more. A working Q build that's now passing safetynet easily and already has working nfc (temporary with fix). That's huge progress. I'm really excited of what comes up the next weeks (not to hurry )

Does ''offline charge not working'' mean that we aren't able to charge the phone while it is turned off or when it is locked?

I have a question, the charge of 9watts are working?
Hey,
I own a Huawei P10 Lite (WAS-LX1A, non-rebranded), and I followed your steps, using Askuccio's TWRP v1.0. I got it up and running, and I installed Magisk and the Android Patch, however, when I was figuring what worked and what didn't work, I took a screenshot and it said it couldn't due to storage issues, or something like that, which raised a red flag, and made me go and check how the file manager reported space, and sure enough it was reporting the +-32GB the phone had, however it was encrypted, which justified the storage issues. I did forget the GApps, which I'll install shortly to see if that was the problem. I also suspect that it can be related to the fact that I set the PIN without having used it to log in, so I'll reboot and test that out.
EDIT: Rebooted the device, entered pin, data is still encrypted

I did get to that point, however I noticed on the 9.0 ROM the internal/external storage is featured as a working feature, so @DarkJoker360 it would be pretty helpful to new users to state that the internal storage isn't working, while the external does

Important
If you are using this ROM first time, wipe data. Wipe data completely. I mean the option where you need to enter "yes". Use this option and then flash the rom.
This ROM only works with the TWRP I added.
If you want to use GAPPS, flash it directly after flashing ROM. Don't let the ROM boot. Otherwise your device will not get certification, so you will not have Google Access.
Instructions (thx @matshias, just changed few lines to get ROM flashing working)
Put your ROM (and GApps) onto your sdcard (sdcard must be exfat or fat32, NTFS not supported)
Install fastboot and adb on your PC, e.g. from here
Enable developer options and in there select to unlock your bootloader by enabling OEM unlock and enable USB debugging
Unlock your bootloader using this tutorial: https://www.dc-unlocker.com/how-to-read-huawei-bootloader-unlock-code This will factory reset your device
Don't setup, cause you will need to format your phone later again. Shutdown tablet. Hold volume up and power button to start to bootloader
Then run
Code:
fastboot flash recovery twrp-3.3.1-0-<your-filename>.img
to flash TWRP
Select with volume buttons "Recovery Mode" and press power button
Select to write to system, otherwise you can't flash ROM
Backup at least system and boot partitions to your sdcard cause you will wipe data in next step. Choose "System Image" for the system partition backup.
Format data using this tutorial
Flash ROM
Optionally flash SuperSU or Magisk in TWRP which should install system less. Keep OEM unlock enabled if you flash or modify anything
Restart

my device is h60-12, should i flash marshmellow stock firmware first before flashing this rom?
Wow thanks for sharing this ROM.
Exzellent Work. Thank you!
I flashed it.
Amazing for the first build.
Let's hope that the rest can be fixed.
I also found another bug, the flashlight is broken.
Magisk 20.3 works fine with pass SafetyNet.
Thanks a lot for the ROM!
I love it!

Audio works fine now!
And my Touchscreen is now.
Smoother Scrolling + Ghosting Effect is gone.
Nice Job, wow!
@yener90 This ROM isn't for Honor 6 , please post to the right forum!
Good!
Everything is set! The firmware is quite stable, nothing is buggy, everything works well. I hope that this version of the firmware on the Honor 6C will not be abandoned and you will make a working camera. I wish you success in your development!
i flashed twrp and i got blackscreen when i try to reboot to recovery and system, i have a nova smart DIG-L21 (not HN but it shouldnt matter because its the same thing) 16GB/2GB, no idea whats happening
rebooting to recovery from system with adb reboot recovery results a blackscreen, then rebooting to bootloader and doing fastboot reboot results a reboot to "your phone is unlocked" screen and going to that black screen again, rebooting to erecovery and clicking reboot from there works and reboots to system after the your phone is unlocked screen
edit: so i just saw what was the device getting reconized as when i do "adb reboot recovery" and, well: Qualcomm HS-USB Diagnostics 900E, from there only blackscreen, i can hold power button and vol down to reboot to bootloader, from there:
1. if i do fastboot reboot i will reboot, see that your device is unlocked screen for a second and go in that blackscreen again
2. hold power and vol up to reboot in erecovery and click reboot, after that i pass the device is unlocked screen and go to emui
another edit: fastboot boot twrp_3.3.1.0_blabla.img is stuck on booting...

Thank you for the update
Edit:
update works perfectly.
I think i have fixed the reboot issues
I discharged my phone to 0% and skipped two days.
After that I charged it to 100% and since then the reboot function is working now.
Sorry, but I'm a bit confused.
Is this rom suitable for Honor 6 Plus PE-TL10 too?
tnx
No.
I was really thrilled to see that there is a new ROM for the 6C, great to see that.
One question though:

Camera
Notification LED

Does "Broken" mean that the three features don't work at all or do they somehow work with bugs?
I'd really like to update my phone but no working camera at all would be quite a problem.
Fix the camera please
Did someone manage to fix the camera? If so, how? I tried to fix it myself - bootloop
this rom dosen't work on my enjoy6s (DIG-AL00)
this rom work on my enjoy6s (DIG-TL10),but,can you fix the camera?

It's work on my DIG-AL00(Enjoy 6S). You shouldn't flash SuperSU after you flashed the system. Just LineageOS + OpenGapps is fine. Wait for a while and you can enjoy it.
I have noticed that the Notification LED will turn on (Yellow colored, never appears on EMUI) some times when I plugging in the charging, but not stable, only flashes for a few times. And my Reboot function is working normally too, but my fingerprint is broken. This is unlike @yener90 's description.
Interesting, right?
