is android 10 comming for Redmi 7? - Xiaomi Redmi 7 Questions & Answers

Hi there,
I've been googling about this and I know that there would be a MIUI 11 update for redmi 7. But what about android 10? Would be there an android Q update for this phone too?

I hope so. Afaik, budget phones like Redmi 7 are guaranteed at least 1 major Android version upgrade.
Don't wait for it coz it might come way later than the MIUI 11 update.

Thanks. So redmi 7 most likely will receive an Android 10 update as it came with android 9
Are you using the global version of redmi 7? Is there any bug or lag or any annoying thing which affects user experience on this phone?

Yes, Global version. There's currently a bug with the brightness slider where it doesn't go to its full dimmed backlight.
There can be lags sometimes but clearing the cache usually fixes it for me.

Isn't there a night mode or blue light filter option?
And about clearing the cache, do you clear every single app's cache from apps manager or you clear it from phone's recovery mode?

There's reading mode which applies the sepia filter.
You can't clear cache in MIUI Recovery but you can clear it with either using the Cleaner app or going to the Settings and delete the cache one by one or for all apps.

Problem with quick circle

I can't change theme of clock
The setting icon has disabled and i can't enable it

My problem is this
Hey man, are you rooted? Did you make some modifications if you are really rooted? If not, backup your important data then do a factory reset.

I have exactly the same problem. All was well until I did a factory reset. Now I'm stuck with the analogue clock on QuickCircle - swiping just brings up the other added apps, but *not* Settings, which is disabled and can't be selected to be included.
I'm running the LG delivered Lollipop 5.0 - V20h-EUR-xx.
Originally I thought it was an issue with the Quick Apps app - but I've since uninstalled that and the issue is still there - you can't add Settings to QuickCircle and can't change the clock face.

Seems to me that quick cirlce is not yet compatible with LP. Take note that LP is young so expect a lot of bugs. Try downgrading to kitkat, try the quick cirlce, if it works, try upgrading to LP, if the issue is still there after upgrade, then the OS is the problem.

Think it's a not quite as clear as that - it worked fine with the prior versions of Lollipop that I previously had installed - all official LG releases.
In addition, it worked fine with *this* version of Lollipop (V20h-EUR-xx) until I recently performed a factory reset (probably the first time I've done a factory reset with this specific version of Lollipop).

As a follow-up: a further factory reset sorted the issue. Dunno what might have been going on there...

How to prevent Android from killing apps?

So, I have this issue, where most of my apps can't stay in recent apps overnight. They all get killed, all but 5 I have noticed. I did the battery optimization thing for all apps I use on a daily basis. I have edited build.prop file and added sys.keep_app_1=com.whatsapp and so on for the rest of my apps. I also did that in the local.prop file. None of it worked. How to prevent my phone from killing apps overnight?

If you are rooted you might try the app LSpeed and use one of the build in RAM profiles.
I am rooted. OK, I will try it. Thanks. It shuts my app very VERY aggressively. For instance, I was watching some youtube video yesterday, and in the other app I was searching for some products and was going back and forth between YouTube and Google Chrome, and every couple of times it restarted YouTube app, even though I was using it 2 minutes ago.

Both youtube and chrome are resource hungry apps, that's why it keeps reloading.
I guess your device is 3 gb version as mine.

I have the 4 gb version as well and I don't face such an issue, if nothing works try factory reset, absolute solution :good:
Tried it already, didn't work. Try leaving 10-15 apps opened in the evening, and see in the morning if they are still in recent apps. And tell me tomorrow.

Well, then you probably need a custom rom. Android One is known to be optimized for dumping non needed tasks. You could try to disable battery optimizing for the apps you would like to stay alive.
Tried that too, didn't work.
My previous phone was 2Gb running android 6. Now i have a mi a2 life 4Gb and it is OK except for 2 games.
Apparently there's some AI that learns what you use but after many weeks no change.
Most apps open pretty fast. It's only these 2 games that I run daily. Annoying to have to wait for them especially since the old phone was able to keep them cached.
I tried the low-memory config (magisk module) but it didn't help. I guess android has changed its algorithm. I'm resigned to it.
It's insane. What's the point of having 4, 6, 8 or 10GB of ram if you can't use it?!
Connect it to a monitor, install Taskbar app and SecondScreen app, enable Freeform windows and turn your phone into a mediocre PC. Assuming you can get all the resources back from OS's hidden service threads of course.
Facing the same issue
facing same issue specially after android 10 update. Change apps back and forth even in recent apps menu kills the app. My phone is 4/64.

Android 10 has a known problem. Rebooting helps. For how long seems to vary. I get a week or so, some people only get a day.
I had the same problem when I was unrooted during the Android 10 update crash. After rooting and installing Lspeed again, Android is not killing apps anymore as I set these settings

Emui 10=Lag and bad latency

My phone was a smooth AF machine, now after the update I automatically noticed the difference and it wasn't good. Web pages now lag when I scroll though them. Pages with special mobile mode like Apple or Samsung or anything mobile acts weird AF, lag and what's seems like jittering. Never, ever have had that on my huawei mate 20x until now!! May be fcked

Will clearing the cache help? Booting into recovery and trying that? Obviously check on the forums for procedure etc.
I've just had an android 9 update and now the 10 has popped but but not sure if I'll update yet.

Some users reported that the reason is the launcher (after the update)
so try cleaning it's data and reconfig it
if problem persist, disable it and use nova or any respectable launcher

I thought you can't disable it because it is responsible for showing the Recent apps screen, or switching between open apps?

My task manager also leaves Facebook app untouched....and there are often about 40 open Facebook tasks. Removing Facebook from Battery Saver doesn't stop this behaviour.

Yep. This has always been the behaviour though. C47, c48 and c61 all had the same issue.
And no solution yet ?? any update ? other version ?

If i could downgrade without lossing data
Is the Facebook app locked in task manager by any chance?
For me, no, it is not locked...and all battery optimization for Facebook is off. It shouldn't be left after you clear RAM.

Yep. Cleared cache, cleared data, removed, reinstalled. Turned off all battery optimization, turned of just for Facebook. It did this on 47,48 and now 61. Not tried 62 yet.
