Apps not creating shortcuts to Home screen - LG G8 Questions & Answers

I have an lg g8 LM-G820TM with the "home and app drawer" home selection. When I download an app it gets put into the app drawer and does not create a shortcut to the home screen unless I do it manually. I looked for the automatic home screen shortcut in the play store but it's not there?

Great App that allows you to create multiple sofkey shortcuts

I am always looking for Info for good apps, apps that make our phones function even better. Anyways I stumbled upon this app just by doing going through my Apps in the market and finding other apps related or "apps people also installed etc.
It is called home2 home shortcut. What is does it installs as another home launcher but is doesn't replace you current launcher. If you set it as default home it will ask you what launcher you want to use etc. One you do that you can set up the following to open and app and most shortcuts by doing soft key combos
Press home and home again - pick the app that you want to launch when you do the combo
Now click other settings below this above setting
Press home then search key - pick app you want to launch
Press home then back button -pick app etc
Press home and menu button - pick app that you want to launch when you do the combo
Here is a link.

How do I disable lock screen in sense ROM?

Been on AOSP for a while....
How do I totally disable the lock screen on a Sense ROM?
Any way to wake up phone with volume buttons?
Also... Any way to increase the number of"recent apps" that pop up when I long press home button?
Thanks!

use an external lock screen like magic locker or GO series
i believe theres a app in the market that does what ur asking for i havent used it in a while u might want to search no lock on the market search bar to see if it finds it still.
As mentioned, No Lock from the market will disable the lockscreen. Once the lockscreen is disabled, the phone will wake with the volume buttons - the lockscreen is what keeps it from waking on anything other than the power button.
As for recent apps, I couldn't tell you. I know there are third party replacements of the recent apps dialog, but I don't know if it's possible to launch them by long-pressing home. I just use an app to open up my app drawer (Alt Drawer) when I long-press the search button. That works well for me, but I don't know if that would meet your specific needs. With Alt Drawer you can sort by "Most Used", but that can make finding a particular recent app difficult. I just sort mine alphabetically, that way I can easily launch any app from anywhere. You could use an app (Quick Launch, Button Shortcut, or another) to open the replacement "recent apps" by long-pressing the search button.

this is not work for me /N915F Lollipop
Not working for me either
for me it is working, but:
1. when I am in app drawer home button is not getting me back to home screen.
2. on the edge panel tapping folder to expand it force closes cocktailbar service instead of opening folder.
Do Not use advhomebutton its not good, instead download and install home2shortcut from play store. I've been using this app for months without any problems.

icons are not added to Home screen

two issues here:
1) installing an app from the Play Store does not create an icon on the Home screen.
Previously there was a setting in the Play Store app to toggle this on/off not so anymore in Android Oreo.
2) Chrome's Add to Home screen does not create an icon on the Home screen for webpages.

can you confirm this?

Task switcher fails [Moto G6 Play CDMA XT1922-9]

Suddenly, without any update or other obvious change, I can no longer switch between apps using the square icon on the taskbar at the bottom of the screen.
-----------------
DETAILED BEHAVIOUR:
When I press the square icon, the list of recent apps appears normally.
When I press any app in the list, the list disappears, but instead of finding myself in the selected app, I am back on my home page.
This happens with any app selected from the task list.
Also, my home page sometimes (but not always) is soon replaced by the "Search Apps" overlay, so that I must press the homepage (circle) icon on the taskbar to get the homepage back. There is no problem encountered with doing this.
When I open an app I wanted to switch back to using its icon on any of my launcher screens, it opens exactly where I left off, as if I had successfully reached the app using the task switcher.
------------
I have not changed my launcher, which has remained Nova Launcher ever since I purchased the phone. I have used Nova for years on several phones.
Changing the default "Home App" from Nova Launcher to the default "Moto App Launcher" made no difference at all to the described behaviour.
Is there something short of a destructive reinstall that I can do to repair my phone?
