After the update last week, the camera in OnePlus 7t is a lot better than Gcam in my opinion. Gcam is in its initial stage. But there's the link since you asked.

?. Mind=blown. Op camera app can not even take a good picture in good light. I'm even thinking of sending the 7t back as I can for 30 days. With gcam the picture is sharp but colors are sometimes completely off and not fixable. I realise the gcam is not stable yet... Might wait a little bit longer before deciding.

Hello
any gcam of version 7.x would be super interesting to try out - since its also coming with the astro mode which I would love to test.
currently I only find versions up to 6.2
Here is the link for all series 7 oneplus phones:

for example this gcam 7.1 bulit starts on the op7T - but when saving images to the local storage, it crashes: https://www.celsoazevedo.com/files/android/google-camera/f/changelog767/

stock camera vs custom ROM camera

Hello friends,
I am very much concerned about camera quality.
I have my oneplus 3t in which I feel the ported GCAM is not better than stock oneplus camera in all lighting conditions.
But I want to know from you guys who use custom ROM in google pixel devices that
what camera is included in the custom ROM of Google Pixel 2 XL because for other OEMs, ported GCAM is available but here the device is itself made by google, and how is the camera quality as compared to the stock camera.
Please answer, so that I can take decision while buying a next pixel phone on the basis of xda community.
I did Not See the Visual core working on AOSP, so Stock will be better so far...

Visual core never worked for pixel 2 as even the default camera doesn't even use it till yet
Although third party apps like snapchat and Instagram can use that on custom roms as well
Sent from my Google Pixel 2 XL using XDA Labs

That's the main benefit of owning a pixel
You do not lose camera quality on pixel devices on custom rom something i learned from my Samsung days

It used by the camera app to create the HDR+ photos.
https://opensource.google.com/projects/pixelvisualcorecamera "Pixel Visual Core HDR+ processing with Camera API 1 and 2."
** correction ** it does appear to not use PVC although it's in the Camera API. Google do the HDR work in the app rather than the SoC, something about ZSL (zero shutter lag) impacting app performance. Waste of chip and money Google!

Well spoken. I'm coming from SONY and we got finally full API 2 Support for the Cameras with Pie. It was a pain in the A** to develop and it still is. Hope i get better Times here (Trying still to get a booting Stock ROM to play with).

Gcam for Redmi Note 8 Pro

No GCam camera for Redmi Note 8 Pro. The MediaTek processor does not support this software.
Mm...ur wrong. We have gcam. But its not better than stock
Can you upload stoc and gcam photos for comparison?
i use this one, it was for kirin 980 and work well https://mega.nz/#!bFdQUILT!aUG4Dr8u8GMTZ_hisIbRn-sAkG2pF9kCQtyIJjjfDQU
Quality of the photos is very bad
The latest version of the @fu24 gcam is functional.
Found here:
https://forum.xda-developers.com/showpost.php?p=80266565&postcount=378
Edit:
The gcam works, the photo makes it, even with the wide angle, but the hdr+ doesn't work. There is no difference between taking a photo with the hdr+ deactivated, hdr+ activated and hdr+ enhanced.
Let's see if any dev can run the hdr+ on this device..... @fu24

On Note 8 Pro "global" version...
Pro :
- it works
- this version is able to recognize wide angle and macro with proper settings
- panorama and photosphere seems to be available
Cons :
- photos are worst than stock application
- front camera is recognize as 5MP
- choosing video leads to crash
- night mode and portrait mode aren't available
I probably will try other versions to help in the future...

Reason for recognizing front cam as 5MP is that its a 20MP snapper with pixel binning so the output with GCam will always be 5MP (20/4) untill the developer tweaks this.

Although MediaTek chipsets are not bad as per my personal experience with them but they always lack a developers community.
Same is the case happening with Redmi Note 8 Pro. We all know that GCam brought wonders to Redmi Note 7 and 7 Pro with the GCam ports but with Redmi Note 8/8 Pro lineup we can only take benefit of GCam port with only regular variant i.e. Redmi Note 8. Everyone wishes to play with new 64MP sensor with GCam on it but not the developers community. Sad for everyone of us who has the Redmi Note 8 Pro or is planning to own one (like me).
plz correct me if I'm wrong
gcam goodness depends on Qualcomm DSP,
without it, its better to use stock camera app

With Redmi note 8 pro and Mediatek Chip, developers will pay attention to this chip.. Xiaomi will sold a lot of this phone so.. also between them will be developers.. Kernel source is realised..
When I buy Redmi note 7 in April, I wait couple months for first custom ROMs.. now we have it a lot..
Also ,after some time , RN8 pro will get it to also..

Just so you know (because you came here and the only 5 posts you did had no hello, no greetings nothing just begging for Gcam), there is NO Exynos version that is actually working properly.
There is 2 kind of versions available (NOT working good) :
- one with 3 apps including one for night shot
- one standalone, for portaits and day light that works without bug but not so great, its name ends with 'fix_3.5.apk'
You lazy dude will find these versions in the following thread :
https://forum.xda-developers.com/galaxy-note-10+/help/google-camera-note-10-t3960254
Again they arent great, stock cam does better most of the time and is definitely faster at pointing and shooting.

Doesn`t the normal SD chipset work for everyone not on the exynos chip?
Holding my fingers crossed for a Exynos port of the Gcam for the Ultra. Even with the camera update it seriously smears the texture on photos and have had some horrible portrait photos as a result.
Most annoying part is that if you use the pro mode you get excellent results without any smeared skin tones but using the main camera set on auto without bixby scene detection and 12mp binned photos it sure looks like **** most of the time.
I think Samsung REALLY needs to improve a lot on the camera or it will be the biggest camera failure in the last 10 years....
So unless you mainly post to instagram and actually want to print pictures I suggest you use the 108mp setting and give it a quick sharpening in snapseed (or lightroom for some much needed defringing and sharpening)
So I´m holding out hope for a Gcam port for us stuck with the Exynos chipset that seems to produce slightly worse then the Snapdragon powered Ultra.
Other then that, I love the S20 Ultra and a worthy upgrade from my old S8+

The need for HDR in bright daylight is almost non exsistent.
I cant understand. I have oneplus 6.... crapy photie... I gave up and bought S20 Ultra... even crappier photos..... what is going on?????
With gcam one plus 6 photos almost looks great...
Should I sell S20 and buy Xiaom 10?
Hardware in S20 should be much better than in mi 10... but looks like software is crap??
Thank you for suggestions

What do you suggest?
if you can get snapdragon go for s20 if not just go for oppo xfinder x2 or mi 10 pro if camera is important for you, if you want the best camera go for p40 check dxomark.com for camera rankings although p40 have no google services but can be installed in less than 10 minutes
So for EU (Exynos) version of S20 Ultra there is no hope?

I use ZGCAM vers.917 on my EXYNOS S20 Ultra (XEF) :
-Night mode front and back
-PhotoBooth
-Photo Sphère (bugs sometimes)
-Slow Motion
-Zoom
-Video
-Google Lens
-Portrait (back and Front)
-Panorama
pictures looks better with stock in most of the cases (Night shoots) but with the correct settings i think GCAM will be much better than stock.
with the virus it's hard for me to spend a lot time outside to find the best set up but i think it's a good begining.
I can't share my pictures or setting for the moment( need 10 usefull posts before..)
let me know if you need more details
It is working!!
First app that has worked for me until now
Thank you very much
Do you know the best settings to use this cam on auto? Never worked with Gcam before
