Removed Vodafone ROM help - Samsung Galaxy A3, A5, A7 (2017) Questions & Answe

I just recently the a5 2017 and unlocked it but it still has some annoying vodafone features on it that i cant get rid of and wondering if its possible to replace the current stock rom with one that dosnt have any vodafone bloatware on it? (still stock rom though)

Error in title! Ment to say "Removing" not removed

It should be possible to install TWRP, download the stock ROM without Vodafone brand from a site like sammobile.com and flash it in odin.
Then install TWRP again and flash RMM-state-bypass.zip and no-verity.zip from the thread in this forum.

Sry to sound stupid but where about is the RMM-state-bypass.zip and no-verity.zip files and if they are needed or can i just flash without them?

No-verity.zip can be downloaded here https://forum.xda-developers.com/sa...velopment/recovery-galaxy-a5-a7-2017-t3815931
and RMM-bypass.zip here https://forum.xda-developers.com/sa...ide-root-install-twrp-samsung-t3747535/page77
Im not to 100% sure if those two zips are really needed.
Easiest thing is to just flash the Stock ROM in Odin and see if it still works like before.
Maybe read through some articles/threads before you start

[Q] Remove Cyanogenmod Problem

Hi,
I had stock 4.3 firmware on my att i747 galaxy s3, then I decided to flash cyanogenmod. everything went well but i dont really like it.
Now I want to go back to stock. I tried flashing the stock rom with odin but it fails and it says this on the phone:
ODIN MODE
PRODUCT NAME: SGH-I747
CUSTOM BINARY DOWNLOAD: Yes (2 counts)
CURRENT BINARY: Custom
SYSTEM STATUS: Official
QUALCOMM SECUREBOOT: ENABLE
Warranty Bit: 1
BOOTLOADER RP SWREV: 2
SW REV CHECK FAIL : Fused 2 > Binary 0
The android version it shows is 4.3.1 and im able to use it normally with the cyanogenmod.
What can I do to flash a stock rom back?
EDIT: used triangle away and the custom binary download says "no" now and the current binary says "samsung official" but still get the same problem.
Thank You

You need to flash a stock ROM that has no boot loader attached to it. I just reverted my S3 back to stock from CM11 so that I could sell it. Flash a Rom.zip through recovery and it should work fine. I see you are ATT so I suggest this one: http://forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?t=2540998. You have the choice of Stock Rooted without bootloader which is what you will be looking for. This thread also has everything you may need. Do not attempt to use Odin to flash roms with older bootloaders or you will find major issues.
You will almost definitely need to wipe everything so back everything up and be sure to take a Nandroid.

In that thread you have 2 good options that I can see. Scroll down and you will find one ROM by upndwn4par/full and another debloated directly under it. Which you chose depends on if you want Samsung/ Google software on it. The upndwn4par file will have you closer to stock than the other. Please be sure to read a couple pages, even if you don't get any immediate knowledge from it you will become way more familiar with these processes. It's worth the time, and safer for your phone.

Thanks once again, i will download the debloated one. But I have a question, that won't be a stock rom right? If the bootloader is the problem is there a stock d2att 4.3 rom i can flash?
That is a stock ROM. It is just pre rooted with knox removed. It is a modified version of the Stock OTA with the problematic parts removed..

You need a custom recovery to flash this. CWM or TWRP. I'm not too sure how you got to CM without one but be sure you have one and then flash the Rom from above. You can install CWM with the app 'Rom Manager'.
See here http://forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?t=2538991

I installed CWM but now that i used cyanogen for a while im starting to like it. The only thing that I dont like is the music player. I downloaded google play but it is even worst, my playlists are not even in order. Is there any way of flashing the stock samsung music player on cyanogenmod or is it integrated with the touchwiz?
Thanks for all the help you gave me so far.
EDIT: I found this thread about ported s4 apps: http://forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?t=2267029, can i just flash it with CWM using cyanogenmod?
You can not flash that S4 port. It says it is specifically for the Galaxy advance. Also you are correct that the Samsung player requires Touchwiz. Try Power Amp, it has pretty good reviews and features. A 3rd party player is probably your best bet. You can cherry pick for features

I tried a lot of players and didn't like any. Flashed the ROM you indicated using CWM and it worked. Did it all for the player Everything is working fine now and I really like how it doesn't have all the bloatware from att.

[Q] Installl a custom ROM while Rooted STOCK

I have rooted my S4 Mini so I could move apps into the SD Card and remove bloatware.
Samsung and my Operator have just put so much bloatware that is impossible to remove them without flashing a Custom ROM.
Now I am still rooted, and I still have the stock recovery and ROM. My questions are:
1) Which ROM is more stable/aosp? Cyanogenmod (10.2 ?) or SlimKaT ROM?
2) Can I install a custom ROM withthe stock Recovery? Is it recommended?
3) Any guides available that will help me do it, (given that I am ALREADY rooted and with stock rom?)
Thanks

1. This a a very subjective matter that get asked over and over again. You got to have to try it for yourself. Slimrom is by far, the only ROM with the least pre-installed app.
2) You can't install a custom ROM with stock recovery.
3) Since you didn't mention which method you use to ROOT (as few rooting method will install CWM for you), the first thing you need to do if to check if you have custom recovery. Some root method such as SafeRoot don't allow this operation (again you need to clarify). The easiest way is to install CWM is via ROM Manager from the Play store: https://play.google.com/store/apps/details?id=com.koushikdutta.rommanager which the app will install CWM for you. Note that this will trigger Knox if you phone is protected by it.

first of all please specify ur model .. we have here 3 types .. lte model i9195 , dual sim model which i have i9192 and the single sim i9190
..thing is if you have an i9192 we dont have any aosp/cm/aokp for them as these roms require single sim and radio drivers doesnt get ported easily
... secondly u MUST CHECK if u have a knox bootloader or not ... if u dont know knox .. its just a flag in download mode "0x0" if u attempt to flash any bootloader in the phone throught odin even .. it turns "0x1" and IT CANNOT BE 0X0 AGAIN !! ..this voids the warrenty if u have of if its a job's phone u will face problems ...if u dont have "knox void warrenty" sentence in the download mode u are lucky and BE CAREFUL of flashing bootloaders .. in this case avoid flashing any new stock firmwares because they have knox .. remove knox from a guide here and then flash :highfive: ... thirdly as far as i know cm/aosp based roms here are stable but as usual they are not that good in camera and they are only avilable for i9190/i9195 ... u cant install a custom rom from stock recovery ..stock recovey flashes ONLY signed samsung zips "upgrade packages"
... 4th search by yourself xda is full of guides and here in s4 mini forum we have almost all needed guides :highfive: ... sorry for writing alot but when u asked about installing a custom rom with stock recovery is a "newbie" question so i thought to tell u everything
Thank for the helps guys.
First of all ROM Manager does not support my phone . I says that it can not find a suitable Recovery to install.
My model is i9195.
My Knox warannty is not valid anymore (It says warranty bit not found).
Also, I found this guide http://www.s4miniarchive.com/2013/08/how-to-root-samsung-galaxy-s4-mini-gt.html
but I do not want to install the custom kernel. Will it be ok to skip the first step and just flash the Recovery?

Hmm, odd. I thought I did my CWM by ROM Manager. Any case just do this: http://forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?t=2364980
Do step 2-6 and you will have CWM.
PS. I'm not sure why you worry about the custom kernel, if you going to use custom ROM, it will have a custom kernel.

The reason is that I want to avoid using a custom kernel is because I read that some of them are 'insecure'.
Anyway, I will give it a try (steps 2-6) and see if it works.

DO NOT FLASH FIRMWARE, THAT DO NOT BELONG TO YOUR PHONE....
you can brick your phone....
you install the latest firmware for your phone.... then you can install any rom of your choice....
if certain functions do not work, you can flash a kernel one of the developers make, to fix your phone... for your model...

easyest way to update

Hi im not a total noob but I have never updated my phone as was looking for the simplest way to do so. I also have a few questions for when ive done so. Im currently on 4.4.2 rooted soff and have been advised to update so I can get a working kexec so I can install multirom properly.
will I need to reroot and unlock bootloader after?
Is there a risk of bricking.
thanks.

If I'm you, I rather update my device to 4.4.4 first as you're running the older firmware so all you can enjoy is simply CM based rom whereas the lastest GPE and sense based rom may not work properly since you're still using the older firmware.
Is it better for me to return to stock update everything and reroot rather than updateing Rom and firmware seperately

The easiest way is to get s off, then go superCID
You download the firmware zip, rename it to 0P6BIMG.zip. Put that on your extCSD and boot into hboot.
That's it. Your phone does the rest.
You can read more about it here.

I understand you not wanting to mess your phone. It is always best not to proceed if you are unsure.
I'm not sure what carrier you are on, but for the normal international model, you will want to download this firmware to use in the method I explained.
Some American carriers have different firmware, so if you on an American carrier, let me know which one and I will provide you with the proper download to update to 4.4.4
The best thing about this method over an RUU is that you won't lose any data.

Then i noticed that always when the phone is looking to locked screen it just crash and i cant start it (only with Volume up + Bixby + Power Button and then there choose the reboot function)
Would be great if someone know the reason why this happens.

Try flashing stock 100% with CSC instead, do not restore any backup

You rooted your phone without knowing how to flash stock back?
Download the stock firmware, extract it, add all 4 sections to ODIN 3.13.1, do not use HOME_CSC, use CSC instead, put phone in download mode, flash

Have you found a Fix to this? What software did you use for rooting? Did you install a custom recovery?
For me this exact thing happens with TWRP and magisk. On the TWRP Thread jesec pointed out that rooting without flashing a custom kernel will most likely cause issues.
Was hoping you may have found a solution
