I'm waiting for my RN8Pro. Is there signal strength issue by default?

You can change this in network settings menu the normal people way and also allowing only GSM will relegate you to 2g network that has indeed better signal but will kill your internet speeds.

A little bit I think. At my house, with Redmi note 7 I have 4G+ ,with Redmi note 8 pro I don't have 4G+ so often and on places that I have it with Redmi note 7

How to increase the sharpness of incoming call voice? Most of the time, voice is muffled.

The incoming voice leaks from the back of the front speaker too

how to increase the volume of the headphone and speaker?

I try this.. when I change LTE/UMTS auto to GSM only I loose 4G and have only H+ that is slower than 4G.. and the signal is the same.. I try it on one spot for half an hour

2G has almost everywhere coverage and it's too old technology to use.
When UE is registered to 2G network it can't handle voice+data transmission simultanously (most networks does not support DTM technology).
Also 2G is not designed to used AMR-WB voice codec, only simple AMR which sounds like **** to be honest.
So this tutorial is pointless, sacrifice better data speed for rubbish voice and ultra slow data speed

Redmi NOte 8 Pro has big problems with LTE 4G + tape management. The phone does not keep the 4G + it switches and stays in 4G all the time. It's a modem management problem that does not support the double-banding needed for 4G +.
Bests Regards

Xiaomi Redmi Note 8 Pro model M1906G7I (Global) doesn't connect to 4G LTE
Hi there! My problem is even worse than this you are sharing with us. I bought a Xiaomi Redmi Note 8 Pro model M1906G7I (Global). However, there is a lie about it, the specifications indicate that about networks it works for the following 4G LTE bands: B1/B2/B3/B4/B5/B7/B8/B20/B28, but it is not true as it only works for B1/B3/B5/B8/B40/B41 (I found it out by entering to engineer mode *#*#3646633#*#*). Therefore, in my case I can only connect to 3G because my service carrier uses B4 (1700 mhz, 2100 mhz) for 4G LTE. Besides that, everything is fine with the phone. What I am trying to find out is whether it is possible to activate or unlock the B4 band so that it can connect to 4G LTE. If anybody knows about a solution to this issue, I would appreciate the assistance to this matter.

Hi,
You don't have the global version M1906G7G
Global : B1/B2/B3/B4/B5/B7/B8/B20/B28/B38/B40
China : B1/B3/B5/B8/B34/B38/B39/B40/B41
India : B1/B3/B5/B8/B40/B41
You must get a refund if you bought the global version, and change to the M1906G7G to be able to use B4 .

I just tried this on my note 8t. Switched to GSM only and immediately even before restarting the phone, went from 1 bar to full bars. Speed tests show much more bandwidth available (now at 11.8mbps/3.1mbps). Sweet. First post I found after a search and first solution just flat out worked. Still think I should be getting higher speeds (I don't think I have ever really cared about the mobile speed because I am almost always on wifi, and do not recall ever doing a speed test, but at least it's better than it was now.

Desire low to no signal at home

Hi guys/gals,
HTC Desire A8183 nextG Telstra bought outright.
All works fine with as supplied 2.2
The biggest headache is phone signal strength ... at home usually ...
0 bar = 109-113dBm / 0-2asu
1 bar = 107dBM / 3asu
3 bar = 97dBM / 8asu
At work ...
4 bars = 51-61dBM / 23-31asu
This is with Telstra nextG sim in, at the moment I'm using Amaysim (Optus) and it's the same maybe a little worse.
Sometimes when you first activate the screen there's no bars then 4 then 3-2-1-0 again, with Amaysim you get broken conversation and occasional resend txt messages and telstra most times conversation was ok and no resend txt's.
I'v seen you can change radio ?! to help with signal strength ... or would it be better to root the phone and use ???? program, as mentioned it all work as I need except signal so not looking for better battery or features just get a better signal.
Side note are the program's used to root the phone only run on Windoze ?
I use Intel iMac
Thks Greg
To change the radio, you must be ROOTED.
Unrevoked works on Mac, as well. Download it from here.
BTW, are you getting a good signal at home with other phones with the same SIM Card?
You may also try set this:
Some users experience longer battery life, if they switch from WCDMA preferred to GSM auto (PRL) - mostly in areas of bad reception.
To do this enter the Secret menu on the phone (*#*#4636#*#*), hit Phone information and set it under "Set preffered network type".

Thks nagypapi,
Yeah LG U990 same problem on 3, Telstra nextG and Amaysim sim's.
WCDMA only, GSM only, GSM/WCDMA auto ... there the only choices in "preferred network mode" this is available in menu on 2.2 with going into the secret vault.
GSM only shows better signal bars but is worse in a call, I leave it on GSM/WCDMA auto.
I see there is more option in the vault might try them.
Is there any program that you would suggest that's ezy without to many problems as mentioned all the function in 2.2 are fine for me just need to get better signal.
Thks Greg
What is your current Radio (Baseband version number)?
Baseband version # 32.48.00.32U_5.11.05.14
Greg
Okay, so there is newer version, which I am using. The good news is, that the new radio is more battery efficient. The bad news - reception remained the same.
Bottom line, installing it won't get rid of your problem.
You need an antenna to boost your signal at home - because you've said, that you have problems with all of your phones.
Found some sites, take a look around:
http://cellphoneboosterstore.com/
http://www.alternativewireless.com/cellular-antennas/improving-cell-phone-reception/antennaadvice.html
Thks again nagypapi for all you help and the links ...
I'v emailed telstra's customer service to ask if they would refund my money on the phone it's there own nextg branded phone on there network doesn't work,
there coverage map shows I should get full service, not holding my breath but feel like a bit of sh!t stirring is in order.
Greg
I hate to burst your bubble, but for starters, I doubt your phone is defective. Secondly, a coverage map means nothing. If you're in a valley for example and the towers are on the other side of the hills, you're gonna get bad reception.
I agree in some ways that a newer radio might help things. But ultimately your phone can only receive a decent signal strength if the coverage in that area is of that strength.
Perhaps go with one of those signal boosters.

Dual SIM Function - Honor 8 Pro

I hope someone can help to answer the following query as I can't seem to get any information / confirmation on it's dual SIM functionality. As some of you may now, some countries has discontinue in offering 2G connectivity.
On the Honor 8 Pro dual SIM, does it function as ;
A) if SIM1 is selected as default data line on 4g/3g - can SIM2 run simultaneously on 3g (non-data)? Or,
B) if SIM1 is selected as default data line on 4g/3g - will SIM2 run simultaneously on 2g only (non-data)?
Noted they are dual stand-by. My question it's on the band connectivity for the none default data line.
Hope to get some guidance

I strongly think it's B because that's how the network with Honor 8 works.
A) is true! But B) doesn't allow you to be based only on 2g, it switches between 3g 2g
Also if you select mobile data default sim as 2, then it will be switched to 4g network and if your sim 1 is 4g only, it will be withering around with no network

[Question] How to enable 4G+

Hello, I moved from zui to Pixel Experience on february. On that time I didn't have the option to enable 4g+ on zui yet. Is there a way to enable it being on a custom rom, without wiping or reflashing anything?
Thank you
Usually the phone switches between 4G+ and 4G depending on the area. Carriers make their networks interlaced so that the internet connection doesn't drop whenever 4G+ does not work. So it's nothing unusual to see 4G sometimes at the status bar.
You don't have to do anything to enable 4G+, if your location supports intra band CA your phone will automatically latch to 4G+
If you still want to forcibly enable 4G+ then
https://forum.xda-developers.com/lenovo-zuk-z2/how-to/enable-carrier-aggregation-lenovo-zuk-t3702194
How to enable 4G+
4G+ / LTE+ also known as CA isn't only a device related feature. Yes off course the device/rom has to have support for the same but its ultimately on your Career to support & offer this feature. So first thing to ensure the service is available under your Network Service Provider and its available in your locality also
ZUI 2.5 (Indian) having baseband 1.76 do support this feature. I have personally seen it working with stock ZUI or with non treble ROM running over this baseband. So if you are with that baseband of higher (like baseband 1.70 from Chinese ZUI 3.5), your phone probably ready for the feature.
Career plays the ultimate role here, so make sure to test with a SIM Card from a friend or relative to check for 4G+/LTE+ on different network. For me, Jio 4G regularly switch to 4G+/LTE+ in my location Kolkata. But mind you not all cell tower or location shows this icon. So some places offer regular 4G.
Last but not the least, here in my place, that's India, with or without 4G+/LTE+, network speeds are more or less comparable to a proper 3G at max. Often I see 4G+ icon and network speeds are like old 2G age !!

LTE Only mode / 4G Only mode.

Hi,
has anyone managed to get the S20 Ultra working on LTE only.
This isn't working for me. But I would prefer LTE Only without limiting it to a certain Band anyway.
I'm rather preferring to get no carrier but a crappy Network like Edge (2G). LTE Only worked perfectly on my Mate20 Pro since German Telekom has a pretty decent LTE coverage even in the sparsely populated countryside.
Thanks.
You can fix one technology or even bands by using the QuickShortcutMaker (in the play store) - there you enter in the call settings - and go to the last option. There you can set your prefernces, e.g. using only LTE 4G. The whole procedure is explained step by step in this youtube video https://youtu.be/K-DN0q64lRw
I found this solution, which is also for me very useful in this thread https://forum.xda-developers.com/galaxy-s20-ultra/help/samsung-band-lock-exynos-t4071125

Question Manual network selection 2G missing

Hi all,
I use my pixel 6 pro on an "unsupported" country and the 3G service is really crappy. VoLTE and WiFiCalling is disabled obviously, so my only calling option is via a spotty 3G coverage from my operator. I am getting so many dropped calls and setup failures that the phone is almost unusable.
I tried to force the phone to just use 2G so that I just use data only when on WiFI and voice through GSM but there's no option for selecting 2G only.
Is there a way to re-enable that option ?
Surely the phone supports GSM 900 / 1800 / 1900

Or you could give this a try.
Requires no root, only Shizuku, and you might get VoLTE/VoWiFi working. Needs re-enabling after each system update.
