[Tool] Frija - Samsung firmware downloader/checker - Samsung Galaxy Note 10+ Guides, News, & Discussion

Hey Guys
Frija is a new tool (successor of now depreciated tool SamFirm) which allows users to download latest firmware for their device which can be flashed with Odin.
Frija can download Firmware for any Samsung Devices at High Speed.
Auto mode detects any Samsung Phone Model and CSC and finds all the required information directly from Samsung Server.
Frija downloads firmware directly from Samsung FUS (Firmware Update Server) without any third party websites being involved. It can pause/resume firmware downloads, even after network interruption, or app restart (if download was interrupted).
Frija comes with built in Support form, through which you can reach out to developer about any issues or bugs. Frija has built in App Updater, whenever new release of Frija is available users will be able to update to latest version of the app.
Frija does not have any Background or Startup services, which some users might be concerned about.
It also comes with Night theme, for those who prefer Night Mode on the app

Fun fact about Frija: Frija is named after wife of Odin who can see future (In Norse Mythology) can download latest firmwares which can be flashed using Odin which uses Heimdall (A protocol that connects to a mobile device over USB) and Loke (low-level software running on the device). It kinda added a missing piece to the naming convention Samsung has.
This tool was created by wssyncmldm with contribution from CrazyApe and eragon5779. Devs receive all the support message directly and they are actively working on the app to fix any bugs or issue.
Updates:
NOTE: Auto Update has bug in version 1.1.1 and will need to manually update by using the new zip file posted today
Changelog:
1.1.2
* Improved firmware search.
* Fixed issue where firmware was not available for valid Device and CSC.

This won't run under Windows 10 even when forced. In fact Windows deleted the executable saying it contained a virus or was unwanted software. Anyone else have better luck?

After unzipping the downloaded file and before running the executable, I scanned the exe file with the Windows Defender and a trojan virus was found in it. I deleted everything without thinking twice.

Good thinking...I should have done that... luckily Windows did that for me.

I have been downloading since one year from sam firmware tool. Some say its depricated , nope i get all the latest stock firmware releases from here.
No viruses, Fast download speed and i have downloaded full firmwares for Note8,9, S9+ and recently Note 10+
Try it out , you would be happy. Just unzip the archive and run the exe.

I can confirm I had the virus issues my end. Both windows and Kaspersky were reporting Trojans under 1.3.0 and 1.4.1 and everytime I unzipped it the file was instantly deleted
Not normal in my experience with Frija

My Norton's anti virus
also identified Frija, as containing
a virus, when i unzip it and grabbed the file.
With Samfirm i never had any hassles with my anti-virus..!
I also deleted Frija.
For me it's very strange /suspicious, that members
"punting" /distributing Frija, has not sought to explain... why.?

In order to be safe, one can use the Sandboxie program, which is free for now, to run Frija and download the firmwares. Sandboxie creates a safe environment in which it is possible to run any program without endangering the system. Programs run in a sand box can't make any changes to the operating system. After the download is finished, the user is given the possibility to keep the downloaded file and all other changes are deleted. But you will have to tell first your antivirus that Frija is safe, in order to avoid to be deleted. This won't harm your system as long as you won't run Frija outside Sandboxie.
Install Sandboxie and let it make the changes it requires. After that, right click on Frija and choose Run in Sandboxie (or sandboxed). After running Frija in a sandbox, its window will have a red or oranje contour in order to let you know that the program is run in a sandbox. I tried it and it works fine.

Sandboxie is built-in also in certain antivirus programs, like Avast.

I'm having a really weird issue trying to run this. I extract it, I try to run the exe, windows says it can't find frija.exe, and then I notice the exe has disappeared. I just tried to extract & run it again and watched the exe disappear as I was clicking it.

To those members that interested , re Frija .......
It seems clear that the Frija link that the OP has posted contains virus etc .???
If you read above post, this it quite clear ??
I have downloaded Frija from @henklbr thread re post #4
https://forum.xda-developers.com/galaxy-note-10+/how-to/ash5-official-stock-fw-update-odin-t3957812
I downloaded zip and extracted it .
also scanned it with Norton s no virus found ..!
If OP can perhaps explain where he got his Frija copy from ..? as it is clear it contains virus ?
I will report matter to a mod to remove zip
Good luck

Frya 1.4.1
@invmini
FIX ! ! !

Still flagged by Norton. As soon as 1.3 is installed it updates to 1.4 and is shot down

Still does not look good at all....

[UPDATED-06-APR-2011] New XAP installer, in-place app update, no dev tool and more...

Please download XAPDeployX-V0.9.zip, it is the latest and greatest version
If you have any of the 0x89xxxx errors, please download the attached "vs_sdeprolightup-enu.zip" file and run it.
Hi,
attached you'll find a new XAP installer which has quite a few unique selling points.
- In-place update on the phone: In-place update on the phone, e.g. if you already have Version 1.0.0.0 of an app installed on the phone and install 1.0.2.0 an in-place update will performed. No more full "uninstall-new install" cycle required. Your settings, custom files etc. won't be removed (same as marketplace update)
- CoreCon2 based, e.g. Phone Dev Tools are no longer required for application deployment!
- Deploy from file or URL: You can either specify a file or an URL. If you enter an URL the installer will automatically download the xap.
- Own protocol "wphome": Zune's one-click download for homebrew apps. Automatically install homebrew XAPs with a click on a hyperlink. If you want, you can register the application for the wphome protocol. The application will then be allowed to handle urls like wphome:www.test.com/test.xap and will automatically start as soon as you click on such a link.

To be able to use "wphome" hyperlinks, you have to click on "Register protocol..." once.
wphome Testlink: wphome:http://www.nextbestgeek.com/wp-content/uploads/2011/03/helloworld.xap (for testing after you've installed the tool and registered it for the protocol)
After you've opened a XAP file, details will be shown in the top bar.
This is the first step in my plan to provide a homebrew marketplace.
Updated V0.6 - 1-APR-2011
+ Full Log
+ Multiple tweaks, bugfixes
Updated V0.7 - 2-APR-2011
+ CoreCon2 based, e.g. Phone Dev Tools are no longer required for application deployment! [*]
+ Drag'n'Drop support. Just drag and drop any xap from explorer to the tool.
[*] You need a working CoreCon2 installation. If CoreCon2 is not installed on your pc (normally only installed with the Phone Dev Tool) the tool will detect it and download a small installer.
Updated V0.8 - 2-APR-2011
+ Fixed "No addional data: Could not extract XAP file" Bug
+ XAP-Information is show much faster now
+ CoreCon2 Installer now online. You won't need the full Phone Dev Tools for this XAP Deployer
Updated V0.9 - 6-APR-2011
+ Selected Target will now be automatically saved
+ Deploy-Menu for XAP files. Registers a file handler for *.xap and provides a "Deploy" menu entry in file's context menu.
General Prerequisits
- Phone has to be unlocked (either dev, chevron or any other method)
- Zune has to be running and has to be connected to the phone
- Windows Vista or Windows 7, according to users: Windows XP
Regards,

nice
+1 for this step into homebrew marketplace creating ;D
edit: some xaps show info, others dont show info and just say "done" when trying to deploy.
awsome job.
+1 as well
@diboze: Can you provide a xap which doesn't show info? (XNA Apps might not show an image but name, description, version & author should always be shown)
"Done" means -> Deployment finished
The app does currently not check if the Max Apps limit is reached. Therefore done means either "deployment finished" or "could not deploy because max apps is reached".
UPDATE V06 - 1-APR-2011:
- There is no "Done" anymore. You have a full-fledged activity log now.
- Max App error is now reported in log

Thanks for your time.. hopefully this develops further. Your most recent was done on April 1, 2011 right? and not 2010..
Awesome stuff man!
I'm going to assume that in order to successfully deploy, you still need the Windows Phone Dev Tools installed, right?
Otherwise, it's a really great looking and convenient app. I look forward to more updates.
Fantastic... thanks, gonna try it
It shows "Done" but there's no App installed

ChevronWP7 unlocker doesn't work on NoDo. In order for this to be useful beyond a niche number of users, there needs to be a way to easily unlock the phonse so that XAPs can be deployed.
I see no mention of that in the OP.
Why list a good app on that for free (if it's not free it will get pirated with the XAP being there for everyone) when you can just list it on Zune Market place for 99 cents and make some money. For responsible adults the fee to join the developer program isn't that bad.
V0.7 will only require CoreCon installed

Glad you've asked. Version V0.7 will no longer use the SmartDevice.ConnectivityDll but will talk to CoreCon (ConMan2) direct. This way you'll only need a ~4MB download to deploy successfully and won't have to download the Dev Tools package.

Yes, looks like there are some XAPs around which have a different ZIP-Header value. Besides not showing the name, image & description this message shouldn't have influence to the deployment capabilities.
BUT: I've replaced the ZIP stack and now any XAP-file can be read. The reading is even a lot faster.
Therefore: FIXED
In addition:
CoreCon2 installer is also online -> if you don't have the Phone Dev Tools already installed you won't have to just for XAP deployment. XAPDeployX installs a minimal set of required files (< 1MB) on its own.

Based on the error message, you've tried to deploy a non-homebrew xap, e.g. a xap file downloaded from zune marketplace. These files are digitally signed and cannot be deployed as the tool does not remove any security measures.

[APP] Samsung Galaxy S II Toolkit Beta V2.4 *ICS ROOT READY!!!*

NOTICE - Just wanted to let everyone know that the toolkit might not be updated for a while. Not because I am not working on it. But I am switching programming languages and improving a lot of aspects of the toolkit. Mostly because of the feedback I have gotten. I am going to be doing the toolkit in a way that will save you all a lot of hassle with installing and downloading, and the next major release will also auto update. I will however be doing bug fixes until the next release. I want to thank all of my followers and donors for the continuous feedback and support. I do this all for you.
Thanks,
Ajster1989

You need to delete the T989 folder to use the ICS Root Update... Just for tonight till I get a real update out tomorrow.
Here is what it can do so far:
- At start it checks to see if USB Drivers is installed, if it's not installed will download and installs Kies for you. (This insures that your USB Drivers are correctly installed)
- At start it checks for USB debugging connection to ADB
- Phone selection menu to chose which SGS II phone you have, and set's tool kit up for that phone.
- Only downloads the files for the phone you select (Currently only T989)
- Guides you through installing CWM
- Guides you through Rooting your device
- Guides you through Flashing a Custom ROM
- Guides you through Flashing back to STOCK (Auto downloads when needed)
- Reboots Recovery and Download
- Side Load APK's
- Keeps track of your current phone, last flashed recovery, last flashed rom.
Want a feature that I haven't added, request it in the comments or PM me and it might be added to my next release.
Features to come in next release:
- I will be adding support for ROMs to be flashed through ODIN.
- I will be looking into adding a menu of different ROMs to download
- I will be adding Super.Wipe Script, will be pushed with all ROMs. (Waiting for Dev Permission)
- I will be adding also the counter reset script as an option.
Please let me know of any bugs.
Known Bug's so far:
-none (let's find some)
The more feedback I get the quicker I will have a better version, will be adding support for the rest of the family of SGS II's too.
Download from my website at the link below...
No install needed, I recommend putting the file inside a folder by itself.

First of all, The laptop I am using is a Vista machine. When launching the toolkit, I was receiving an error. I was able to resolve by replacing the included cmd.exe with the one in my system32 folder.
Now I attempted to launch again, and seem to be stuck on the "Please plug your phone in to continue" message. Kies has not previously been installed. I tried replugging the phone, but no go, seems to be hung on this screen.
That said, thanks for packaging all the files together, I can manage from this point (I know what to do), just figured id provide some feedback.

Yes this is a known bug(sorry for that) I have included the kies download link above, please install from there and re-run the program, Also note that if your running on a 32-bit maching there is another kies bug that doesn't allow it to advance.
Install kies, if that doesn't work let me know. Tonight I will be fixing both the kies bug and the 32-bit bug and I will message you when I have it uploaded.
Thanks
Also can you send me the vista file that you used, so I can include it in the next release... I don't have any vista computers lol 4
I don't have any Vista boxes either, just rooting the phone as a favor for my dad, and his laptop is running Vista... I was able to install Kies from Samsung's site without issue. Also, after double checking, this thing is 32 bit as well, so that is probably the same problem you had mentioned in your OP.
Thanks for the quick reply. Sent you a PM about the cmd.exe for Vista.
32-bit

Well yes the program is 32-bit but the issue is with the kies installation check...
I only programed it to check for it in the ProgramFiles(x86) folder.
I need to als have it check for it in the same location but without (x86) for 32-bit computers.
I tested it out on a 32-bit machine and it didn't progress to the next command.

Nice! Considering the fact that I hard bricked my device the first time I tried to install CWM, I'll probably give this a whirl. I'm on W7 x64 - will I have any compatibility issues?
I fixed all compatibility issues in the release I just uploaded, but it originally only worked in w7 x64 lol cause that what I have too...

Root.zip glitch
The CWM flash worked perfectly, but when I tried the root.zip, it gave an error. (Status=0) Is this due to the OS (2.3.6) or something else?
NVM: It was due to SD Card size, if the card is too small, the root.zip wont work properly.
what size is too small, so I can put a warning i'm my program.

[ZIP] [FLASHABLE] [ROOT] [04-28-2017] (Re)Enable Hotspot (Stock or Custom) [MM & N]

[ZIP] [FLASHABLE] [ROOT] [04-28-2017] (Re)Enable Hotspot (Stock or Custom) [MM & N]
Introduction
This flash fixes the telephony database (i.e., /data/data/com.android.providers.telephony/databases/telephony.db) and if necessary injects busybox and init.d support into ROMs. The purpose is to properly enable hotspot tether support. It fixes the hotspot support on each reboot so if you lose hotspot due to, for example, a factory data reset, this will repair the database at the next boot.
DISCLAIMER
Always read the DISCLAIMER file before committing to the use of this flashable mod.
What It Does NOT Do
The flash does not add the hotspot menu item to ROMs that do not otherwise have it. In other words, if you do not have a 'Hotspot' menu in your Settings or other toggle items, this flash will not add those. You need to talk to your ROM developer in order to get those.
What It Does
The flash does two basic things for ROMs WITH built in init.d support:
Installs a working sqlite3 executable at /system/xbin/sqlite3;
installs an init.d script at /system/etc/init.d/01-hotspot to correct telephone database settings;
installs an init.d script at /system/etc/init.d/02-hotspot to add a quick setting tile for hotspot;
sets global setting tether_dun_required to 0 (zero).
Most custom kernel flashes modify the init files to support calling on /system/xbin/run-parts to run the scripts in /system/etc/init.d -- check the boot image you are using.
The flash does quite a bit more for ROMs missing init.d support (e.g., stock):
Installs a working busybox (and all applets) at /system/xbin;
Installs a working sqlite3 executable at /system/xbin/sqlite3;
Injects init.d support into the boot image (boot.img);
installs an init.d script at /system/etc/init.d/01-hotspot to correct telephone database settings;
installs an init.d script at /system/etc/init.d/02-hotspot to add a quick setting tile for hotspot;
regularly checks and keeps global setting tether_dun_required at 0 (zero);
add build.prop setting to enable USB tethering.
The script at /system/etc/init.d/01-hotspot logs its operations to logcat so you can see what it did, if anything at all. Make sure you have logging enabled if you use a kernel that supports such changes (e.g., my SkyHigh port).
Hope this helps those who are having troubles with hotspots after wiping data before or after flashing ROMs.

Change log
This post will keep up to date the various changes that occur from version to version of each flash in this thread.
hotspot-v5 and hotspot-busybox-initd-v5:
Updated to support Nougat.
hotspot-v3 and hotspot-busybox-initd-v3:
Now sets all APNs that have MMS type set to include DUN type as well (tethering). The belief is this should also fix many non-sprint carrier variants, but testing all those is not something possible for the author.
All init.d scripts log to logcat for all versions.
hotspot-busybox-initd-v2:
Now honors (and reinjects) SELINUX enforcement tag on the boot image to prevent the 'red text' folks were seeing on boot after flashing;
Now logs to logcat (Android system log) when it takes actions (every five minutes or so it verifies that the telephony database and system properties still are set for tether support.
This worked perfectly on the SPRrom , thank you. ?

Do you have OEM Unlocking turned on in Developer's settings? What you show suggests the flash was not able to persistently rewrite the boot image.
Tell me that answer above and whether the file exists at /init.d.rc and if not, that tells me the flas is not in fact suceeding at persistently updating the boot image.

Ok, hang on folks, looks like I found (I think) the issue some are seeing. Long story -- a selinux permissions issue. Working on it.
@tdhite My offer is still on the table
Updated -- 03/18/2016
Does a couple *more* things now:
keeps tether_dun_required at 0 (there is a background process that sets it to 1)
sets up build.prop for usb tethering
See the original post, use the flash for ROMs lacking init.d support.
Let me know if if that helps with folks not getting the tether option at all, and for those working, you should not see provisioning requirements. IF you do, wait a minute or so and try again. There is a service that checks randomly between every 15 to 45 seconds for changes to the tether_dun_required global setting.

OneUI 3.0 beta for G975U1 out now (update.zip link added)

Didn't see a thread, but I just checked the Members app and saw the OneUI 3.0 beta registration was finally on there for G975U1. Registered and am downloading now.

Rename .bin file to update.zip
Follow installation instructions from this thread:
Kapitein187 said:
ADB-method:
1. Download SDK platform tools from here https://developer.android.com/studio/releases/platform-tools
2. Extract them on your desktop.
3. Inside the extracted folder put the update.zip
4. Inside this folder, holding left shift, right click the mouse and select "open command prompt here". The command prompt will open.
5. Shutdown the phone.
6. Holding power+volume up buttons, enter into recovery mode.
7. Select "update via ADB". (you scroll down using the volume buttons and select using the power button).
8. Connect the phone to the PC using original samsung USB cable.
9. In the command prompt run the following command:
./adb devices
10. Wait to see that the daemon has started and that your device is found.
11. If you device is found, run the following command:
./adb sideload update.zip
The update process will start. You will see a percentage counting. First it will verify, then patch etc. Do not move the cable, disconnect the phone or power off the PC.
Once the process is completed (it takes some time) the phone will boot itself, update the apps and log into your home screen.
SD-card method:
1. Download the bin file and rename it to update.zip (by going to file options in win10 you can select to view the file extensions. This makes the renaming process much easier and safer, and avoids renaming the file to update.zip.zip)
2. Copy it to the root directory of your SDcard.
3. Shut down your phone.
4. Hold simultaneously Power+volume up buttons to get into stock recovery.
5. Using your volume keys navigate to "update via SdCard" and press power button to select it.
6. Again using volume keys navigate to the file "update.zip" and press power button to select it.
7. Update will start. Leave it till it completes. It will take some time.
8. Phone will reboot by itself and load android.

That's not how this works, unfortunately.
Some people END UP with Snapdragons outside US, i have a friend who i recently found out was on PIE.
It's logical that SIM Region and Actual Location match up.
The only way we can alleviate this is by finding out a way to spoof requests to Samsung's Servers (alla Frija) for OTA's with mocked locations, but i've never seen something like that.
That said, Snapdragon Beta testers seem to be as helpful as Samsung is to them, so far none of them have shared the package with us.

I tried a manual Frija fetch with OP's information, just for the sake of it, and got some interesting results.
This is the latest XAA Android 10 Build in Auto shows:
SM-G975U1_1_20201020093603_5lxag3hh7k_fac.zip.enc4
So build date is 20th October 2020. And this is ETJ3 (November).
Manually looking up for XAA with:
PDA: G975U1UEU4ZTKI
CSC:G975U1OYM4ZTKI
Phone: G975U1UEU4ZTKI
Gives me this:
SM-G975U1_7_20201112155200_rpfk7uveqc_fac.zip.enc4
So, build date is 12th November 2020. Build Date and release dates can differ up to two-three weeks. Weirdly though it reports Android 7.1.1 (which this device never had).
OP (@jeston ) Can you just check if the build date matches with yours in Software Information?

That's nice news, why is Frija able to download a November ROM when there isnt one built in that month (As i said, November release was built in October).
I could never do this before with Beta's or Test Firmwares on SamFirm or Frija, why is it suddenly reacting to the exact values of the Beta is a myth to me.

Make sure you use WinRAR ONLY not 7zip gunzip anyzip because I dont know why but this is the only way to unzip and to execute the script
Make sure you got up to date samsung drivers and up to date adb blah blah installed
As far as I know this will work on ANDROID 11 ONLY!!!! I Began with ANDROID Q frp locked with out success, so I upgrade firmware from samfw.com
This should work with ANY varient of the QUALCOM snapdragon S20 FE

I was on Android 10 so I factory data reset from stock recovery and flashed Android 11 with Patched ODIN
Odin 3.14.1 Patched (Modded) for windows - Odin download for pcShare Odin3 Flash Tool: 0 Shares Facebook Twitter LinkedIn Copy Link More Now added Odin 3.14.1 Patched version for windows. It specially developed Samsung’s newer phone firmware flash with android 10. We assume this will be very useful, so we thought we would share it. Odin3 version 3.14.1 has...
Once flashed boot the phone and connect to WIFI the same WIFI the Windows PC is on
Unzip and Install the FRP tool with WinRAR ONLY
Disable the native Windows 10 antivirus (MAKE ALL GREEN CHECKS DISSAPPER)
Disable signatures verification from the FRP tool... it will ask you to reboot before running the tool.... DONT REBOOT YET
check anti virus again make sure its disabled
NEXT choose either of these methods to make sure signature verification is turned off...also has procedure to turn it back on when done
How to Disable Driver Signature Verification on 64-Bit Windows 8 or 10 (So That You Can Install Unsigned Drivers)64-bit versions of Windows 10 and 8 include a “driver signature enforcement” feature. They’ll only load drivers that have been signed by Microsoft. To install less-than-official drivers, old unsigned drivers, or drivers you’re developing yourself, you’ll need to disable driver signature enforcement.
www.howtogeek.com
NOW REBOOT
It should have test mode listed on your desktop in the bottom right corner
GO to the windows security badge in task view area and check your antivirus status....there will be one its the main one turn it off
make sure phone is CHARGED FULLY powered ON, and connected to the same WIFI as the PC.... when u disabled signature it reset the Samsung drivers....
Connect to the PC with the best USB TYPE C cord you can...let windows set the phone up for file sharing (it prompt you just click on file transfer)... when it makes the windows connect noise and tells you setup is finished click the install button on the FRP tool....make sure you keep the phone screen unlocked and lit up... You will get a prompt on the phone click it to open up the youtube... click the account picture scroll to the bottom and there should be a link for PRIVACY POLICY click the link it will take you to the Real google search......ENTER THIS EXACTLY IN SEARCH BAR addrom click the first link it should say FRP tool 2021 or something similar
open galaxy store from the menu.....update the app if needed when its finished updating back out with back nav bar button...re-enter and search for Smartswitch install back out then open the settings app from same menu as before ... navigate to accounts and make sure there is nothing active.. if there is delete it... use the settings search bar and access Smartswitch.....
TIME FOR SECOND PHONE
on the other Android have smart switch from the playstore already installed and make sure the phone has only 1 GOOGLE account. It must be your Account that will be installed on the S20 FE... Make sure you are synced make sure its a clean reset phone no EdXposed, Magisk, or TWRP installed because its critical for the Smartswitch process...
LOG BOTH PHONES INTO SMARTSWITCH
The 2nd phone is the host and the receiver is the S20 FE
Send ONLY your GOGGLE Account AND DEVICE SETTINGS!!!! nothing more, thats all... I had no luck with OTG cable it didn't work trust me when I tell you choose the wireless method 1000% success.... once its done go to developer options and toggle usb debugging set a device pin or pattern make sure you install your Samsung account and Google account.... restore a back up from either cloud...IMPORTANT....
after the backup restores let the phone sit for about 5 seconds...lol.... factory reset from the settings menu.....when it boots back up its gonna be FRP locked AGAIN with your passcode....cheers...
And this worked on your device? I am a little bit sceptical about disabling antivirus. Suspicious

wouldn't they just reset the device rather than wanting to get into it as is ?
this is probably more use to the psycho girlfriend who wants to know who Janis is.

FRP means Factory Reset Protection. You can probably guess what this guide is bypassing.
Ok, so you want people to download some random file, which VirusTotal shows like a billion different antivirus apps as infected?
Then you want people to disable their Windows antivirus AND driver signature verification?
And then you want people to use winrar(known to have security problems with scripts) to open a .7z file instead of 7zip, app which created that archive in the first place?
And then your instructions tell people to open youtube? right...
If anybody reading this thinks this works, please private message me because I have an amazing business proposition for a bridge for you!
Thread closed due to VirusTotal detection.
