Phone Heating up Incredibly Hot When Using Android Auto - OnePlus 7T Questions & Answers

plugged in to USB for an hour drive and the phone gets super hot. Screen is off and it wasn't in direct sunlught or anything (nighttime and room temp cabin)
Guessing it might have something to do with trying to charge at the same time since the phone also dropped 10% in battery in an hour. Anyone have any ideas on how to resolve this?

I have not had that problem yet but, my AA locks up sporadically when connected.

Odd charging behaviour last night - can anyone explain?

Hey Guys,
Picked up my HTC One X last week and have had no problems charging the device.
Last night I plug it in as usual using the supplied charger and cable, set the alarm and go to sleep.
When I wake up I notice that it hasn't charged and (this may be unconnected) the alarm did not sound.
I unplug in and plug in back in and it begins to charge.
Interestingly, I checked out the power information in settings and the phone thinks it was charging all night, except, it wasn't.
Anyone else experienced anything like this?
Thanks
Coincidentally my HTC One X was acting really bizarre this morning/tonight too.
I connected it to the charger yesterday and this morning (about 5:30) it woke me up with the "Quietly Brilliant" splashscreen and sound. It seemed to have reset itself and asked me to send a log to HTC...
I guess today will forever be known as 'buggy tuesday'
exactly the same thing happened to me last night. plugged in at 12% woke up at 12% 30 minutes late for work as alarm didnt sound.
seems my phone is having trouble charging today as well as its only went up 3% in an hour and a half and its on airplane mode as im in work!
Wow, so its not an isolated case.
Wonder if its date specific, or has something to do with the Alarm.
Would be interesting to see if anyone else was effected.
My phone seems to be charging OK although I have restarted it since it refused to charge last night.
I do believe under heavy load that the phone will not charge, but as I understand it, a service, or background process cannot consume more than a small amount of the CPU. I did wonder if somehow the alarm has spun out of control and had the system under such a load that it refused to charge.
I just hope its anything but dodgy hardware.
i just restarted mine and its now charging normally so reckon it must be an app or service that was causing it.
the alarm thing could just be coincedence but seems strange...
i usually switch my phone off at night if i am leaving it to charge so i have not got a chance to try this out..
I had a message on my phone last night I have not seen b4. Maybe a similar thing happened to you. The message said "Please close background apps as your phone is using more current than the charger can supply" lol.
as another quick observation, my phone got to 69% charged then got stuck for about 35min.
i restarted the phone again and it started charging again.
i dont see anything strange in the task manager list, and i dont think i have installed anything untoward that i didnt already have on my HTC Desire other than a couple of paid for games...
is there anything i can look at when this happens again to see whats draining the battery? theres nothing strange in the battery usage list either.
currently i have
Screen 63%
Golfshot GPS 28% (i used this yesterday for about 4 hours)
Android OS 4%
Cell standby 2%
Phone idle 2%

Hmm, that's kinda odd. Wonder if the issue I experienced was somehow related.
Just to follow up I repeated my usual routine again and plugged the phone in again before going to bed. Wake up this morning to find exactly the same thing - it hadn't charged.
This really makes no sense and is getting pretty annoying.

hi which version of the OS are you using as it may well be to do with the version of android and software update may well fix this also if you have wifi turned on that can be a large drain on battery make sure if left on it is set to turn of when screen gose of maybe that charger cannot handle it been left on but most likley its a bug in the OS
i found part of my problem was using a lower rated charger. the one i had in my bedroom was 700ma and it needs a 1A.
charged fine last night when i switched chargers.
oh, and my alarm went off fine this morning as well.
still doesnt explain why it wasnt charging, or got stuck while charging with the official charger.
Hey Guys,
One last update!
I have just factory reset my phone after noticing that it would not charge from AC at all and the battery level went from 45% to 100%.
So, Im guessing that somehow, by charging the phone over night, the calibration went out and what it was reporting was not actually what was left.
I shall keep and eye on it!
hi guys. i think that htc rushed with this device to be ahead of all and did not finish the job well, this is why we experience so much problems with this device.no harm intended

Charging issue- it's stop/start

Hey everyone.
My note 2 is displaying some odd behaviour. On the grand scheme of things it isn't a big problem, but it's curious and I wanted to know if anyone else has had the experience.
The phone starts charging fine but from time to time it will stop charging (the screen turns on and the icon moves back to standard battery icon). The odd thing is after a few minutes the charging notification sounds and the phone charges again. This seems to happen between 5-6 times in a full cycle. I've never noticed as I charge overnight. Everything eventually charges fine and it's not slow or anything.
Anyone seen this before?
*edit*
Thought it may be something to do with the phone going to sleep. I have entered developers mode and ticked the box which disables screen off in mains. The batter has charged from 65% to full without incident. Will continue monitoring and see if I can find anything else interesting

[Q] Z1c issue

Hello everyone. newbie here.
My sony Z1c seems to have developed a bug/issue. 2 days ago my phone was on charge, green led at the top was on and my battery showed at 100%. I unplugged the device jumped into bed, set my alarms as usual. I then woke up 2 hours later then i should of to find my z1c was dead. Nothing was running in the background etc so instantly knew something was up. Tried charging my phone at work via usb>pc and it kept saying my phone is losing charge quicker then its charging (never seen this message before) . I could turn the phone on but the battery level stayed at 2%, as soon as it was unplugged from the pc it would instantly die.
When i got home i done a few "reset" searches and come across the hold volume up and power at the same time until phone vibrates method. This now seems to allow my phone to charge normally again and the battery goes past 2%. However again today my phone went dead overnight. So the issue is still there, im just able to charge the device again.
I dont appear to have anything running in the background
havent done any firmware, software, app updates in the last couple of days (again that im aware off, unless they forced any)
also noticed the phone gets extremely hot at periods for unknown reasons?
Anyone here able to help or advice? is this a faulty battery, software, firmware issue etc? any fixes
d5503
running 4.4.4
14.4.a.0.108
Thanks in advance
Have you tried a different charger? Charge it using wall charger with supplied cable. I don't think firmware is draining your battery. Possible that u r caught up with a faulty battery if u don't have any issues with charger.
My advice "Head to Sony Service Centre asap".
Have you 'ever' installed any custom ROM on this phone then reflashed/restored something later after accquired? It could be the underlying system's battery state is different than the current running OS' one. Try calibrating the battery a couple of times to see if that make any difference.
Hello. Thank you for the replies.
The phone charges correctly via mains and usb(laptop,ps4 etc) since i done that power+volume up reset. Pretty sure my leads and plug are fine. i could try different usb leads though. the charge level is certainly showing me 100% charge
I have never used any ROM's or Roots. i dont know fully what they are. I used to have a jailbroken iphone so it sounds similar. Id be prepared to do down any of them routes if it fixes my phone
Everything updated has been official releases. I dont appear to of updated anything recently though so i cant put it down to a system update or new app update. - something might have glitched somewhere i dunno
Charged the phone during my first post and again it says its gone to 100% after a couple of hours. unplugged the charger. restarted the phone and checked nothing that hasnt been on for the last 3 months hasnt turnt on and all seems fine there. So just left it in standby
checked it 10minutes later to see charge levels. am down to 87%
using gsm battery app it says 68.9% app usage, when i click that
android system 53%
kernel (andoid os) 19.5%
then i have a list of other stuff running all be 2%
them 2 shouldnt be that high should they?
then when i go default settings>power> batt usage
android system 37%
googleplay service 21% (doesnt appear to be updating/syncing anything. should all be off. never used syncing)
screen 14%
android OS 5%
cell standby 5%
the rest of the list are 2's and 1's
phone was cool when charging, since rebooting the device and unplugging it, its now getting hot??? would of expected it to be the other way around!!!
Might want to give it a go of this:

Sorry, newbie can't post URL yet:crying:
Hi again, Jcw i done a full factory result and everything now appears to be fine now. Phone has been on for 3hours standby and on 98% battery, It would have been dead by now and extremely hot at the back. Now running alot cooler. Thanks for the advice.
Have no idea what happened. Something was seriously draining the battery though. Glad its fixed. Thanks again

Overheating during charging (SOLVED)

Hello, did someone notice an overheating during the charging of phone when it's SWITCHED ON (using normal charger not quickcharge)? I noticed that after plug the cable, suddenly the phone is hot on the top of the screen and after 5/10 minutes is really hot in the whole surface.
I think it's not normal... because if I try to charge the phone is SWITCHED OFF this problem in not present, it's not hot only a bit warm after a few minutes .
Hope someone would be able or so kind to check his phone during the charging phases.
Thanks

SOLVED: factory reset from recovery and flashed again last firmware via recovery from sd card (otherwise the system didn't see the firmware to flash in the root)

Reboot/shut off problem during charge.

Need some help XDA family.
Not sure if the Oreo update is responsible for my issue or not. But everytime I try and charge my phone in my car, and the ambient temperature and device temp are around 75 degrees, the device will shut down as soon as I plug it in, but it will charge the phone. The device is in no way hot. And if I try and turn it back on from this state, it will bootloop. Until I've hit it with some air conditioning. It never did this because I got the phone and updated it to Oreo in the winter time. And I always charged it in my car with an official Samsung fast car charger. It's like a security guard that gets triggered way too early.
Has anyone else had this problem?
Any ideas?
Kinda worried that it won't work when I need it. And I never had these problems with my Note5 or any other phone to be honest.
Thanks.
same issue with my verizon note 8
I'm having the same issue, not just with my car charger but also with multiple wall chargers. if I wait to charge it till it is less than 50%, it will charge for a few moments then shut down and keep charging. if I leave it alone till its at 70-80% it will normally boot up ok, if I try to reboot it right away I get into the same boot loop (clearing cache and safe mode do not consistently get it to boot correctly). This has been happening for a few months off and on but is getting much more consistent the last few weeks. I've even tried wireless charging rather than wired but that didn't seem to help. i'm thinking it is a battery issue. did you ever get a fix?
thanks,
James
