Chrome and Firefox ignore systemless hosts and resolve websites successfully... - OnePlus 7T Questions & Answers

A few hours after enabling adaway hosts file and rebooting the device, Chrome and Firefox (I tested only these browsers) are able to resolve blocked domains again...
Anyone else having this problem? Is there a solution?

proxy problem

Hi
I have a galaxy tab s T705 non-rooted device.
some times I use a proxy app like your-freedom or psiphon3 to connect to internet.
I'm using a home WiFi.
after disconnecting the apps I am unable to connect to internet anymore.
while I can connect with other devices and PCs.
I checked my proxy setting under modify network config.
there is no proxy there.
but my firefox and chrome browser showing not able to connect to proxy warning.
any solution?
PS: I had this problem before and factory reset fixing this, but I cant afford factory reset each time I use a proxy app.
I had to problem when connecting to proxys then when I dont use then my internet wont work. The thing that always worked for me is that since the proxy messes with the hosts file in your system, it changes the hosts file that makes you cant connect to the internet. So when you did a factory reset, it resetted that hosts file making your internet work again. If your rooted the fix is to go into etc, and delte the hosts file so when you connect to the internet again, it will make a new hosts file that it was before you used the proxy. Since your not rooted, please try a factory reset again and do not use proxys. Use vpn apps such as cyberghost vpn or hola vpn. Hope this helps!

Hosts not working with Open Beta 33

Hello, everyone.
After upgrading to the latest open beta (33, for oneplus 3) no matter what, I cannot manage hosts file to work (for ad blocking purpose). I tried any possible configuration I've found on the forums.. I'm using Magisk and I've tried with adaway, and with the unified hosts module (with the GUI and with the command in terminal). Tried with and without system less mode option... Nothing works. I've also tried by adding a one line hosts file with 0.0.0.0 facebook.com, it still loads.
I've noticed I have 2 hosts file: one in /etc and one in /data but none is working. What am I missing? Any extra suggestion would be helpful.
Thank you!
Check if your operator have a proxy activated by default in systen Settings-SIM-APN and if you find it delete the proxy address and restart
Hello,
Thanks for your reply. I had no proxy set, and the issue is also present when connected to my home/work wifi connection
Thanks

Netflix crashes, restart says "Sorry we cannot reach the Netflix server (-9)"

Netflix crashes, restart says "Sorry we cannot reach the Netflix server (-9)"
Weird issue on newly rooted Z2 with Magisk, no TWRP. On initial launch of Netflix, it crashed and when I restarted it cycled and gave the error "Sorry we cannot reach the Netflix server (-9). A call to Netflix was useless. I uninstalled/reinstalled. Really weird and the login screen never appears. I can confirm that other devices connect without issues on my network. I also tried turning wifi off and using the data network with no luck. Any ideas?
Thanks.
Install liboemcrypto disabler module on Magisk.
Netflix won't work with unlocked bootloaders but with this module it will work.
Marcowe, thanks!!! The module downloaded directly from within Magisk manager and now I get to watch without issue. I really appreciate your help. I did a thorough search but didn't see anuthing here on the Z2 force forum. Perhaps I should have extended my search to all of XDA.
you can do this also
with a file manager
Go to: /system/vendor/lib
Find the file "liboemcrypto.so" and delete it.
Reboot
I do this every time I flash a Rom or reset, it works for Netflix and Hulu

Links opened in browser instead of apps

Hi!
For some reason
I've reset the device to factory defaults but still same thing, it always goes to the browser and not opening
the apps.
Same problem here... Somebody others? Solutions?
I found solution:
Need to uninstall via adb command
Browser (com.vivo.browser)

Second User can't download anything.

Hi,
I have set up a second user on lineage 18.1 on a Poco phone F3.
The issue is the second user cannot download anything (it never offered permissions to download)
Any help appreciated,
Just in case anyone stumbles across the same issue I thought I better post my workaround for this. I never got to the bottom of the issue, but just downloaded an apk on a laptop and transferred the file through usb. duckduckgo browser allowed downloads so I assume it was an issue with the inbuilt browser app.
