RCS Messaging - Motorola One Vision Guides, News, & Discussion

Did anyone try enabling RCS messaging on this device? Tried it on XT1970-3 and didn't succeed. I've read a few articles regarding enabling RCS on ANY device.
Here's the XDA article - https://www.xda-developers.com/enable-rcs-google-messages-any-carrier/
Here's the one on Reddit - https://www.reddit.com/r/UniversalP...tutorial_enable_rcs_on_any_carrierdevice_with
Now, the Reddit one mentions that RCS is not available on dual SIM devices. But there are quite a few comments on the XDA article that mention that it has successfully worked on dual SIM phones or at least when one of the SIMs is disabled.
Just wondering if someone got it to work on this device.

Followed the steps in the xda link and works on my device.

Hmm... Thanks for checking it out. What phone do you have (model, country, no. of SIMs)?
Also wanted to ask you whether you had to follow the troubleshooting steps too or were the first few steps enough?

Yeah, followed the troubleshooting steps which did the trick.
1 Sim, Denmark, model XT1970-3.
As of now no tele companys in Denmark support RCS so I'm not sure if it's fully functional.
But at least my phone's set up and ready for RCS when RCS gets released (if ever!).

Got it enabled. Don't know how to test it, though. :silly:

[Q] Looking to Purchase a G4 and I Had Some Qeustions

Which variant should I get? I just walked out of the store (Almost bought one) and they are telling me that it's a dual SIM. I honestly like the idea but I have several requirements which my next several questions are about.
Is ROOT, Busybox and a custom recovery available for this device?
In relation to question 2, is Xposed available for this device?
Is a reliable call recorder available? I badly need this since I speak to a lot of clients and recording my conversations with them helps me when I forget something that I discuss with them.
Is there an available kernel that will allow me to tweak the volume of the headset (much like Boeffla for those who have experience in this)?
Looking forward to your answers mates! Thanks!
Edit1 - How do I edit the title? Spelling mistake
1. the one which offers warranty in your country. is warranty available for both variants where you are ?
where i am there is only the dual sim and its a variant on dual sims available elsewhere. dual sim means no wireless charging possible at all. dual sim means only one sim can be used at a time because G4 dual sim is a dual standby not dual active ie it only has one radio and not two. So the other sim goes into standby if you use it all that is.
There is another point, whether you have 4g service in your country or not and whether it can support voice and data at the same time on one sim. Where i am 4g cannot (no VoLTE from the carrier) only 3g can. so if on 3g data, and get a call then i get the call and data stops but if i'm on 4g data then the caller gets a busy signal if using data at the time they called. Conversely if i get the call then i cannot browse the net while on the call (!)
This is where dual sim comes in. they can call the voice number (set up to forward to the other sim) and the data stops otherwise can continue to enjoy data at 4g speed.
In effect this means if you want to use 4g you need a second sim due to lack of VoLTE. otherwise put up with the slower speed of 3G and use just one sim.
2. root can be injected, there is no recovery available as bootloader unlock is not yet available for any variant besides the euro h815.
3. yes but its not completely stable. some modules work others don't. i'd give this some more time.
4. there is one in the stock but otherwise try ACR, it works quite well for me with another device.
5. not yet. this will only happen when botloader unlock becomes more widespread.

1. I'm unsure. I'd have to go back to the store and ask. I beleive(from experience) you cannot use voice and data at the same time on my carrier(s).
2. Read about that a bit, and from my understanding, the dual SIM is the H818, which I haven't found a root for. (This is honestly most likely a dealbreaker for me) But should I be expecting a reliable root and bootloader unlock soon?
3. I think this is applicable for all Xposed for 5.x and above no?
4. That's pretty neat that LG has one in built. I may not need root if this is the case. I'd have to check which applications use root and see if they are absolutely necessary.
5. Sounds good.
Quick question that I forgot to ask about though, I use AirDroid to manage, send and delete SMS from my device as it's a lot easier to do this on a computer screen. When I updated to KK/LP on my device, a whole plethora of problems arose such as not being able to delete/send SMS if an application was not the default SMS app.
In addition, I use Avast Anti Theft which heavily relies on SMS Commands. Is it still the case today?
Sincerely appreciate the well informed response mate

H818 has root for both dual sim variants. Check the dual sim thread in general. roosta has been doing a good job with it.

Checking it out now. In fact, I already posted a question there about the root.
Well, I suppose I'll be finding out the rest soon enough.
Can't located the inbuilt call recorder though. Any directions as to where I can find it?

Oh, it's a voice recorder that you need to turn on manually? Will check out ACR and see if it works okay on the device. So much stuff to look at and migrate. Just spent the last 2-3 hours on migrating my data.
Thanks for all your help matey. You seriously helped convince me to buy this device.

Search the forum, there are methods with a bump'd image. You can also pay $5 for an unlock code which is what I did. Good luck

Bump is for a bootloader unlock, not for a sim unlock. But you can find it here (ONLY USE WITH KITKAT).
Just contact the carrier via their support site, open a chat session and request an unlock code. There's no charge, and you'll receive it during the session. You could also try the Mobile Device Unlock app if on T-Mobile...
https://support.t-mobile.com/docs/DOC-14011
Again, if on T-mobile these are the unlock requirements

Same problem
Hey guys, I'm having the same problem
I own a D855 phone bought at SFR (in France), I'm about to change of carrier but SFR made a mistake when they created my unlock code, so now they are contacting LG to have a new code, but it'll be too long... (up to 4 weeks)
I'm sure there might be a way to unlock a network without to have to pay, right ? Don't know, maybe a file to edit or replace or something like that ?
My carrier will be automatically changed in about 2 days, and I wont be able to use my carrier services network anymore in 2 days if my phone/network isn't unlocked.... So no more texts, no more calls, ...
I'm using Fulmics ROM & last Xceed kernel
Thanks
UPDATE : I bought an unlock code on https://www.freeunlocks.com but they gave me the same code that my carrier gave me. This code doesn't work...
I really need help, any way to unlock my phone and use it with my new carrier please....

Asus Zenfone 2 ze551ml voLTE

Hello Devs and other xda members..
I am just keen to know that will ever zenfone 2 will get volte support.?
I can see there are lots of Android 7.0 Roms are live but none of them has volte.
Waiting for official volte update.?
Is there and changes of getting volte support from official.? As far as I have noticed official support for zenfone they will never push Ota update for the same.
Please share your knowledge about this.

it is not possible due to hardware limitations. volte is a service which runs on IMS backbone. to connect to internet. phone use APN to connect to gateway. now to connect to company's (service provider) gateway ip network APN uses bearer. to provide normal internet services companies uses public IP network. but VOLTE services are completely on private IP Network. which is not exposed publicly. so you need additional bearer to connect to IMS gateway.
unfortunately old LTE chipsets do not support multiple bearers hence it can not be implemented.
I think you just copied an answer from quora instead of doing some research. Yes, zenfone 2's chipset(XMM 7262 modem) does support volte, however the devs at asus probably had a hard time creating the firmware for it. If you want volte as a feature for the phone, you can't do much except to keep annoying them at zentalk to release an update on the situation

i had conversation with asus official team. believe me it is not too hard to add an simple option. its not a new technology which is to be developed yet. it is already developed enough. it will take mere 30 min to add that option. if it was possible they would have added it. i exchanged approximately 30 emails discussing on the issue with asus.
moreover where ever you read. it will me the same. we learn by reading. we never have all of our own. most of time we get it from books or other sources.. things which are general will be same either quora or XDA..

That's a little strange. There's another thread here with several people posting that they each contacted Asus. And were told that the feature is being worked on right now and would be included in a future update.

Really you need to start a new thread in this forum with a "Question" label to ask your question.
Hopefully your reset will fix things but if not give as many details as possible.
For example, I'm puzzled about you:
having two Edge "E" signals... have you got two SIMs installed?
Does your phone contract include 5G? Just because the phone is 5G capable does not mean you can use it unless the contract includes it.
A phone will default back to a slower connection if the signal is not quite strong enough where you are. I'm in a 5G area but frequently I don't get 5G.
Perhaps in "Settings" the phone band has been set to use 4G?
Regarding all the about type things you need to say what you've done and checked. It just makes things a bit easier for anyone who may try to help you.
Mike

Question [CLOSED] Pixel 6 Sim Unlock workaround

Does anyone know of another way to unlock my SIM other than the before method because I believe it has been patched cuz I woke up this morning hadn't reset my phone nothing and it would tell me my sim was not supported
You might want to be more specific. Which variant of Pixel 6 do you have (which carrier)? Which previous method are you talking about?
To clarify, are you looking for SIM (carrier) unlock, or bootloader unlock, or both?
Also, do any of these threads in this search result for the word unlock in thread-titles only in this section help?
Yeah you're right. I didn't think of that lol Stoner moment I have the T-Mobile Google Pixel 6 pro and I was doing the factory reset and then enter ADB command and shell to temporary unlock SIM and now it's not working at all. So I was just trying to see if anyone knew of another workaround other than you know the usual call T-Mobile and give them the sob story

Hi I tried this method and yes it works I have a p6p from att and did this phone worked great on verizon I used it like that for a couple of days . But I ended up paying for a code using a site now that I got the confirmation I did a factory reset and I'm now able to toggle the oem unlock setting under develor options. Also it worked with my verizon sim with no problem after the reset.
Now just need to find some free time and try the adb bootloader unlock command.

It told me it needed 1 to 3 days to get the code. I did it on a Friday at around 1:30 got my confirmation email on yesterday Monday at around 7pm. Sundays and Saturdays don't count as business days. Now it turns out that they unlock it on their own or something like that. I didn't received a code on the email it was just stated that it was unlock. I was worried at first because I was expecting a code. I check the developer options and the oem unlock was greyed out I wasn't able to toggle it on. I said I'm going to try a factory reset. I did just that on the setup process I put my Verizon sim and it work with no problem and I was now able to turn on the oem setting
