China 8/256 - OnePlus 7T Questions & Answers

So I can get the 7T with 8/256 imported on Honor buy or eglobal for about €500
This is €100 cheaper than oneplus official site which only sells 8/128 model
The only real downside is that they open the box and flash global rom.
Does anyone recommend buying like this and what are your experiences ?
Im just not really comfortable with them opening the box and handling the phone but I suppose everything should really be ok

You can always just request them to ship it sealed. To be sure, just email them before placing the order and ask if its possible to ship it sealed with CN ROM. If they say it is not possible, just order from another site, like wondamobile.

Yea,I have done my research there and contacted support on both eglobal and Honor buy. They say they can't do it but Wonda mobile does(though I have heard of people requesting it sealed only to receive it open).
The downside with Wonda is their prices are a little higher and they charge 20 to 40 euro on delivery outside the UK

You can get it for a lot less..

AliExpress ??

Even i'm thinking of getting one from aliexpress as it is cheaper.
Is there any hardware difference between chinese and global version?
Only changing from hydrogen os to oxygen os will suffice?

Yep, Oneplus is good like that, all same LTE bands and everything on the Chinese version so just simply install OxygenOS.
AliExpress though, while cheap takes a few weeks to be delivered.
If I could find a store willing to provide a sealed unit I would probably buy.

there are some crazy offers lined up for 11.11 sale on Ali Express. The only thing keeping me back is lack of 3.5 . I would sorely miss it.

I'm pretty sure that with Wondamobile(that's where i want to get one from), if you email/call them before placing the order and also notifying them again with order number just as you placed it, that they will ship it sealed. Nevertheless, if somehow your order gets shipped unsealed, you have 14 days to return your order, bearing a 30 pounds fee for ''change of mind'' aka don't want it.
Plus, what got me hooked on wonda even though its a bit pricier, there are no import tax fees, your order is sure to get delivered in about a week compared to ali and they do offer warranty 12 months, compared to ali.
I also did a bit of research on them and they seem very legit, their trustpilot is almost only 5 stars reviews, people seem very pleased with them.
True you do pay 20 pounds delivery outside UK, but from ali you pay both delivery fees by courier AND import tax which is a big no especially on the price of the phone. Unless, you find a store that is guaranteed no import tax and transport price is low enough, there is still the warranty question at hand.
Anyhow, i'm not affiliated with them in any way and i'm not trying to influence your decision. I haven't ordered mine yet, still looking around for best place to get it from at a low enough price but also a safe product.
Have a good day!

Absolutely,I've been in touch with Wonda previously inquiring about previous phones and they did say to ask them to send the phone sealed. The only problem is that their prices are just a little too high for it to be really worth it. For instance the 7T is about €500 + the €25 delivery,it is still a nice saving but not really appealing.Certainly a very good option though but eglobal and Honor buy are cheaper with also no custom charges but they don't give Chinese phones sealed

JD.com has the China version 8/256gb (BRAND NEW) for less than $460 shipping included. I compared the China version and knew some T-Mobile LTE bands are not listed.

CN 8/256 on Verizon USA
I ordered an 8/256 "International" model from geartbest. They don't list a model #, but I'm almost certain it is the hd1900 or cn version. I plan to use it on Verizon in the US. Is anyone aware of potential issues I'll run into? Apparently Verizon is using some band 66 now, and that frequency isn't listed for the cn model. I'm very curious to know if the EU or international ROM they load enables band 66?

That's the only thing that stopped me, I'm on T-Mobile and I know if I am going to keep the phone long term, I want the most bands possible. I would love the double storage but I'm only using 50gb right now on my current phone so 256gb is a bit overkill if I'm giving up Band 66 & 71.

Does anyone on this board actually have the 256gb version on T-mobile in the US? How's it performing. I saw a number of sellers have it on Ebay presumably in sealed boxes.

Most from eBay are not the U.S. version, which do not support T-Mobile' LTE band 66 and 71.

Yeah, I am using Hwawei Mate 20 X(China version) with T-Mobile. At the time I didn't know it doesn't support band 66 and 71, so I got it because the ChIna version was like $150 cheaper than the non-China version.
Without band 66 and 71, I didn't experience obvious difference of reception but I know sometimes the internet speed is very slow. I am guessing that's why.

Thanks. I've been running LTE discovery app on my 7 pro and the bands my phone constantly uses are 2, 4 and 12. I was assuming that even though the 256gb was missing 66 and 71 that it wouldn't be much of a problem (since it was 2, 4 and 12(). Am I wrong?

You're not wrong for that line of thinking it's more of where Band 66 and 71 go in the future. If you keep your phone long term it would be good to have all available bands. Just saw T-Mobile is rolling out 5G on it's 600mhz band 71. Now, the 7T can't get 5G but just an example of you never quite know what they are going to do with the bands. Pending how much you travel it would be good to have all bands available that your carrier operates on. If you switch phones often then this a moot point and you should go for the 256GB version, but as I said this is what kept me from picking one up and ultimately getting the NA version.

Thanks. I'm going to give the 256gb a try since these international prices are ridiculously good. Hopefully it will be fine. Thanks again.

Hi
I'm not making any promotion for them but I ordered yesterday the 256GB version for about 445€ from Gearbest. This was with a coupon, but now the price is event more interesting without : 490$
If you have a way to pay in $ without being charged by your bank (online free bank accounts allow that) it's about 441€.
Again, not trying to sell anything, I just think price is really good.

Which version for T-Mobile (US)

I'm wondering if anyone has experience with the various versions of the Zenfone 2 on T-Mobile in the US. From what I can tell the Taiwan version will work with the two main LTE bands as well as 3G for T-Mobile. Any experiences out there?
I had a TW, but returned it because of Bluetooth issues. It worked fine on LTE for T-Mobile in MO.
I now have a WW version and it works fine on T-mobile as well.
Where can I get the ww version?
Why not wait for the us version?
The US Version sounds like it might be tied to AT&T only, much like the Asus Padfone. If it is available unlocked, like the temporarily leaked Amazon page suggests, it will not be available till about June. Because Asus has not released any official details about the US release yet, it is hard to say for certain if they have an exclusivity contract with AT&T.
I bought my WW from http://eglobalcentral.com I paid for the expedited shipping and received it in two days.

My girlfriend will be in Taiwan this week, so she can pick me up at the local price of ~$300 for the Z580 4GB ram 32GB rom version. I think the US version will be more costly (especially with 10% sales tax in CA). In addition I saw one source saying they won't roll out the high-end Zenfone 2 to the US and it might be AT&T only. Finally, typically US carriers don't allow dual-sim phones.

Alose, did you buy the 64GB version for $347? (I can't link to it, but it's a quick search) It looks almost too good to be true. This version is supposed to be ~$330 in Taiwan, which means between shipping and their profit margins they only have $17 to play with. There are so many versions, I'm a bit weary of getting one that is "almost" what they said it would be...
Well im one of the winners of the contest on androidcentral.com and the version i won was a 64gb 4gb ram us version so there's a great chance that the us will carry the 4gb version in some form but no matter what region you it seems like a great phone

On or before the 18th (the contest said that we would get them before release to review however their has been delays) but I'm 99% sure that the 64gb version will make it to the states or even the 128gb version but that might be much later if at all

Does the one on sale on aliexpress.com tomorrow work with T-mobile?
I'm using the ze551ml TW version on T-Mobile in the US and getting full LTE speeds. Just remember that when the phone says 4G, that's what us American's consider LTE. Technically, USA 4G is HSPDA+, not full 4G.
So the phone just says H+ when you are using T-Mobile "4G" and it will say 4G when you are using T-Mobile "LTE"
I'm not sure why everyone is saying it will be ATT only, it's an unlocked phone......... The US version will have all bands for all carriers, as per the ASUS website. If it were going to be ATT only, they wouldn't include the bands for the other carriers. Plus they'd lose a ton of business, and this phone is going to be the one to put ASUS on the radar for the general public for phones. Would be extremely bad business to lock it to a single carrier when every single other version of the phone WW is unlocked....

20-20 hindsight. Was AliExpress a legitimate deal from a legitimate company? This was a deal linked from AA . This deal was for the 64gb version, after hunting around the 64 is harder to find than the common 32gb. After setting up to buy this phone last minute research caused me to bail due to questions of the legitimacy of the site offering the special.there seems to be 5 versions of the phone location oriented, China, Taiwan, us, European, and worldwide, any suggestions on identifying these characteristics? It would seem the European and the China don't work in the US. there also seems to be two versions of the four gigabyte at 2.3 or 1.8 quad core.the intent is to use this phone with solavei which uses t mobile towers in the US.
Also, is it possible to have a 2gb ram 551 ?
Originally ordered 2.3/4gb/64gb/silver 3 days ago off eglobalcentral and immediately after my order it went out of stock. Cancelled that order and just ordered from Aliexpress w/ DHL (up to 7 days processing + 3-7 days shipping time). It was still $10 cheaper with upgraded shipping at Aliexpress.
Alibaba is a publicly traded company and they offer full refund if the retailer screws you over. This was a front page deal on AliExpress. I would be seriously surprised if they screwed this up. Anyway, I will update once I get it. Irony is I already got my case/tempered glass from Amazon with 2 day delivery.
Excited to switch out my nokia brick to zenfone 2 on TMO USA! ASUS made me wait too long for a US release. I go on a long vacation end of May and need a phone/camera!
If you cannot wait to see what the US release is like, I would recommend getting the TW or WW model. I had a TW model and worked fine on T-MO, but returned it due to a faulty Bluetooth. I now have a WW model that I bough from eglobal central. With the new firmware, works even better.

Is this seller legit?

I'm not advertising him or anything, if this still counts as advertising pls let me know. :silly:
Anyway, here's a link
Should I buy it from this guy? Considering I don't live in the USA so I pay for shipment and stuff is the price fair?
Thanks :laugh::fingers-crossed:
It most likely is, but there's better aliexpress stores to buy from that guarantee no import costs and tax when in the EU.
Also, really big con when buying from aliexpress. You don't get official support through the OnePlus website, and it's the Chinese model you're buying. That means it doesn't have LTE band 8, or 800mhz. This band is used mostly for getting LTE in houses and outside of the city. Aliexpress has 0 stores that sell the European model. That's why, even though shipping time is longer and the price is slightly higher, I still ordered from the official OnePlus website.

Anyone know where to buy the Mate 20x in the US?

Anyone know? Or maybe some legit seller (besides eBay) that would ship here to USA. Also on a side note, does anyone know if LTE would work on the TMobile network?
Any input is greatly appreciated.

There is a list of sellers at the beginning of this forum. All of them are from China and all ship globally. Ebay is the worst possibility right now - resellers there are taking a great advantage of a limited buying opportunity for this phone.
Check about import duties with your customs before buying. The USA imposes import taxes on China merchandise lately and I don't know if the technical stuff is involved.
Or better, if you're not in hurry, wait a couple of weeks. The price might drop and you may have a chance to buy the phone from Amazon or at least from a reseller in Europe.
As regard T-Mobile, yes, the phone will work with this operator. On HDSPA bands and on LTE bands 2, 4 and 12. It won't work on new bands 66 and 71 but it is the same with other phones except for some iPhone, Samsung, LG, and Motorola models. But then, I think that LTE 12 is mostly in use everywhere. You won't have special services like VoLTE, VoWiFi though. The operator requests certification fee for those services and it can't be expected that Chinese pay it. The phone is not intended for the USA market and besides Huawei is kinda blacklisted there.

It has been quite some time since this inquiry, my friend. The situation has changed a lot since then, the USA and China are in the trade war and hence Chinese removed plenty of Huawei facilities from the USA and therefore you can't find any Mate X support there anymore. You can still buy the Mate X in the USA from various vendors from around the world but without any warranty.
My personal recommendation is to buy it from Amazon, for example: https://www.amazon.com/Huawei-EVR-L...116&s=gateway&sprefix=mate+20x,aps,228&sr=8-4.
The dilemma is though what to buy: the Chinese model or the international model (link). Although the international model has problems with occasional random reboots right now on 9.1, the problem will be sorted out eventually and you have fully Google support integrated even with Android Q (EMUI10), which is about to come. The Chinese model has no flaws and upgrades are regularly but then it is heavy bloated and Chinese oriented without native Google apps. There is workaround though with root and transformation rom but as it looks support ends with 9.1 beta.
Both models support Tmobile LTE bands 2, 4, 5, 12.
Why Amazon: It's a US vendor, and there are not many others there right now. As you don't get Huawei warranty in the USA you still have Amazon's guaranty for the enough time to check phone functionality and there are not many chances that you find hidden malfunction later.
Thanks so much. The Chinese version is so much cheaper, I'm looking to get that to use on T-mobile.

You are wrong, the EVR-AL00 has all the support beyond 9.1 beta and receives official updates before the global version of the phone. The current problem is that with non beta release of 9.1 came the new EROFS file system (see here) that prevents any updates to custom roms, which has lead to many devs leaving this amazing phone and that at the moment you can't get codes to unlock bootloader in order to gain root.
That's what I said. The Chinese model is updated more regulary and works flawlessly as 9.1. But after beta 9.1 there is no internationalization any more and original system is heavy Chinese oriented.
Anyway, if someone is looking for Chinese Mate x I think that Aliexppress has good prices right now.

You see I'm researching the 20X and some say that it does have volte functionality when being used on Tmobile USA and some like yourself say it doesn't.
However i'm aware the Mate 20 and Mate 20 pro doesn't have volte functionality on the tmobile network. But does the 20X?

I love my EVRL29 version...this is by far the best phone I have used hands down.
I purchased mine from Amazon.com and have the protection of Amazon. I purchased the AL00 first as I had the EVRL29 previously (6 months ago but sold it to get the P30Pro) but I ended up missing my Mate 20X so much I had to sell my P30Pro and get back to my Mate 20X. The AL00 was easy to remove the bloat etc but I couldn’t get all Google to work including some of the Google back ups. I couldn’t get Google Pay to work but actually activating the Google apps was very easy. I had to return the AL00 though as I just didn’t want a fantastic phone that only half worked...maybe not half but you get the picture. I reordered from the Amazon.com dealer and the phone was shipped the following day Thursday and I had it in my hands Friday afternoon. The pick up time was Thurs at 3pm and delivered the next day by noon, from Hong Kong to Victoria, B.C literally overnight. Anyways I also have received 4 updates since I got the phone and I would 100% get the EVRL29 model as everything works including Google Pay, back ups, everything...I love this phone!

Any Expected Price Range ?

Hey,
I heard its going to have a 90hz panel , new back camera layout and cheaper than 7 Pro. Any expected launch date and price range ?
I saw an article claiming it would be cheaper than the previous version. Not sure if it's true, and if it is, how much cheaper it will be.
https://phandroid.com/2019/09/06/oneplus-ceo-promises-their-next-phone-will-be-cheaper/
My bigger question is if it'll ship to the US and Canada or if OP is going to be lame again.
Chinese price at the first day:
OnePlus 7 8/256GB - 2999 RMB - 384€ - 423$
OnePlus 7 Pro 6/128GB - 3999 RMB - 512€ - 565$
1. The non Pro version need to be cheaper than the pro version, anytime!
2. They said "under the 7 Pro price" which means <3999 RMB - 500€ - 550$
3. OPPO (OnePlus) need to bring something like 90Hz. I can get a Mi9 here for 399€ or a Mix 3 for 330€ and the OnePlus 7 starts with 559€ (128GB), so almost nobody get one.
In EU I think ~600€, in India ~500€ and China ~440€
Sounds to be a good price for all it's loaded spec's...
The expected price of Oneplus 7T is $499.
Just wondering if people are planning on getting the 5G variant? I am on Verizon in the US, I want a fast processor in the best RAM possible, just don't know if I really care about 5G
550€ in EU
In India ₹ 37,999 for 8GB 128GB model (~$ 537) and ₹ 39,999 for 8GB 256 model (~$ 565).
Any ideas who will be selling it on contract in the UK?
The pro was only with EE (5G variant) and then Three (6GB RAM variant)
Neither of them very cheap by any means.
Hopefully more pick it up but I fear that it won't.
UK release date is the 10th October, hopefully we'll know more by then.
Unless you guys have heard anything?

At this point in time I don't think 4G coverage has peaked, even in the best areas, in my house the best I've ever had has been 276Mb downstream and 79Mb upstream, which is comparable to a decent broadband connection.
But on average, even living in London I get between 30 and 80 Mb, plus I'm not all for 5G, have read some worrying things about the technology, apparently used to be (probably still is?) As a weapon, depending on the strength it can be quite devastating.
I know worrying isn't going to change anything but at the same time I don't have to like it.
In terms of performance at this point of time, I'd stick with 4G. But that's me.
Better for battery too

[DISCUSSION] Shall we expect Black Friday/Cyber Monday deals?

I was looking at possibly purchasing the ROG Phone II soon, but Black Friday and Cyber Monday will be right around the corner by the time I know for sure. This would be the first time I've considered Asus, so I'm wondering if I should hold off until those sales, or if any sale would be worth waiting for. I looked at some of last year's sales from them, and it looked like most prices were $50-100 off similar priced products, and I didn't see any that included the original ROG Phone.
Should we expect more of the same with sales that aren't all that special, or is there a chance they could surprise us with something worth waiting for?
I'm keeping my eye on this while I wait for any surprise Black Friday sales. I don't know if this site is reputable though.

From what I've read, that site is reputable in that you'll get your product, but understand what you're getting. They are falsely advertising that this is an international version. In reality, they are selling the spec limited China Tencent version that's been "unlocked" (their wording, which I'm assuming means had the global ROM flashed). You can tell by the lower 128 GB/8 GB specs and their sample photos even show the Tencent logo on the back. For us in the U.S, that means less frequency and carrier support than what little the true NA version has, and no warranty because it's a grey market item that's been tampered with.
I know a lot of U.S. users have the Tencent version, flashed it to the global ROM, and are happy with it despite its limitations, but I wouldn't recommend it to anyone. After learning more about the whole GSM/VoLTE issue since I made this thread, I'm having a hard time even recommending the NA version to anyone in the U.S. I've pretty much decided I'm not going to be getting it.

Gear best seems pretty reputable.
Other user is right though. You would have to send it back to china for warranty (through your vendor) or just hope asus will take care of you (which in my case they usually have, I buy a lot from them)
If I was considering the 8GB version, I would definitely try to look for the indian 8gb/128gb model. I think It says ROG on the back instead of tencent and has an all glass back instead of metal and glass.

Something new? I want one for Europe... Spain, concretely. Where to buy?
For what it's worth, they do have a couple black Friday deals now.

It looks like they are offering the Tencent version in the U.S. Officially now? I guess instead of improving the offering, they want to sell us a worse product that is barely useable on our networks. I'm losing more and more respect for that company any time I look up info about this phone.
Plus it's sold out. Have they ever had any in stock? Lol

Pretty much the lowest price I have seen so far. Gearbest, AliExpress, banggood - all those stores have higher prices at this moment.

That's the China Tencent version, which I wouldn't take even if it was free. The NA version is already obsolete by design with limited band support and no VoLTE or Wi-Fi calling, so why would I want something worse than that?
I do need to correct myself, though. The Asus black Friday page is selling the original ROG phone, not the ROG phone 2.

I do not care about the design, both functions you have mentioned are not supported by my mobile provider and it supports all bands here, so I guess it's just up for personal preferences.
Most people I have contacted in EU are getting the Tencent version, it just gives us most of stuff we need.

I see on your profile that you are in Poland. Black Friday is a U.S. retail event, so that's why this thread is focused on the North American version of the phone. I understand you have different priorities, but our GSM networks are scheduled to be shut down within the useable life of the phone. At that time, the ROG Phone 2 will no longer be able to make a phone call in the U.S. The only way to make calls would be through VoLTE, which Asus has said they don't intend to enable on the NA version. It's not a personal preference issue here, it's a basic usability problem.

That's right. But the Black Friday is now much more popular in other countries (althrough the deals are not somehow interesting, mostly fake discounts), that surely wasn't a thing some years ago. However, there was 1 person from EU asking about Black Friday deals too, so I just wanted to point to some available discounts.
Didn't know about the scheduled network shutdown in US, that explains why US buyers avoid the Tencent version.

And I didn't realize Black Friday was a thing elsewhere now. Hopefully it's not as violent as it sometimes is here in the states. XD
