How to update ROM after root? - Samsung Galaxy A3, A5, A7 (2017) Questions & Answe

Hi,
Almost a year ago I successfully rooted my A3 2017 with Android 8.0 using Magisk, since then a few more versions of the official Samsung ROM have been released. I wouldn't mind updating my ROM to get the security updates and bug fixes but I don't wanna lose my root.
How can I accomplish this?
Thanks!

Download the ROM from sammobile.com (or any other site) and flash it in Odin. Then flash TWRP and install Magisk again.
Just read through some guides

Can I root the note 10.1 2014 on 5.1.1 LMY47X.P600UESDPL1

HI, I got my son a wifi P600 note 2014 for his birthday a while ago, and it came with kitkat on it, so i was able to update it, install twrp, and root it. Now i bought another one for my girlfriends son, but his came with 5.1.1 LMY47X.P600UESDPL1 already on it. I cant find any information on whether or not i can install twrp, and then do the cfauto-root just like i did on the other one. Has anyone out there done this yet, or is it pretty safe to try it and i can fix a brick with Odin? I've been a Motorola and HTC guy, don't have the whole Samsung thing down yet.
Thanks, Mark
If CF has LP on autoroot website its good.
That exact version number of 5.1.1 is not on the autoroot website. But I believe the update on the tablet was just some security updates, so I thought mAybe auto root would still work. But if it don't work will it just fail or will it brick it. Can I use Odin and a stock fw file to at least get back to stock from a brick?
Just reread what you said, and now I'm thinking your saying that as long as Cf-autoroot page has a 5.1.1 lp version for the p600 it will work on any 5.1.1 update of the p600?
Why not just do it the old fashioned way? Flash twrp using odin and then directly boot into twrp and flash the latest supersu binary from the chainfire's website. I just did this with PL1 firmware and everything is running fine. Installed busybox, fdroid and adaway eveything working just fine with root permissions
Just so everyone knows it did work rooting with cf-auto-root , then I was also able to flash twrp with Odin. Everything is working great.
Hey I have the same tablet and version but new to this topic and don't know how to root my tablet. I'm searching for a guide for my device. Do you have some tips? Or maybe will explain how you did it?

A5 2017 Stock Recovery wanted

I have an A5 2017 (SM-A520F), rooted, TWRP Recovery installed, running Android Nougat. Knox is tripped, Device Status was 'Custom' and if I checked for Software Updates in Settings it failed.
I installed Xposed, then Firefds Kit and used this to change the Status to Official. I can now download a Software Update (~50MB so probably not important - later updates may be). Knox is still triggered - this evidently doesn't matter. After downloading the update the phone boots from Recovery, i.e. boots TWRP and hence fails to install the update. I'd like to flash the stock Recovery to install the update then flash TWRP again. Anyone know where to acquire the stock Recovery? There are some iffy-looking sources I'd prefer to avoid.
Try updato.com or sammobile.com for the full stock ROM. You can extract the recovery and flash it in Odin.

OTA update after root

I recently bought S9 and planning to root. After root, can I install OTA, if I'm on stock ROM (Magisk system-less root, without changing any partition)? I searched this in many threads and I still have no clear idea, the OTA update fails on stock or the custom roms.
(I previously used Huawei and Xiaomi phones and they flawlessly installed OTA updates within root, root lost after update but anyway updated ).
Yes OTA works as long as the firmware you are on is stock firmware without any mods/custom
Status must stay "Official"

How to upgrade rooted Android 9 to rooted Android 10 (830)

Posted in the other forum so I'll move it here
I'm on rooted Android 9. Used the method in another thread, installed TWTP, dm-verity, WETA kernel etc. Never had any issues.
What's the step by step to upgrade to Android 10?I have the downloaded firmware and the latest Odin. Also d/l the newest TWRP. Should I update TWRP first? ( In TWRP)
Then how to flash 10 and stay rooted? Doni need to go through the whole process again to root?
Any help welcome - thanks in advance!

Stock rooted. Using TWRP, Weta kernel , decrypted and Magisk.
