Is easy to unlock the bootloader, install a recovey and roms to this phone? - Redmi Note 8 Questions & Answers

About recovery, roms, aun unlock bootloader
Hi!
I want to buy this redmi note 8.
I have been using this huawei mate 9 since 2016. There are no roms for this huawei, and even unlock the bootloader is a pain in the ars (you can check the XDA threads)
And I want a phone wich I can install roms all the time, and probably will recieve roms from developers for a long long time.
Do you think this Xiaomi will never be as restricted as huawei?
My first phone was a xperia Z1, and is still recivieng lineage updates almost montly but mine falls dead a few years ago.

I have bought RN8 15 days ago, i have unlocked it and installed twrp already.

Yes you can buy redmi note 8(no not the pro as it has mediatek chipset and development has been mostly closed for pro). Development has already started for redmi note 8 and you can unlock bootloader after 1 week from buying this device.

Will Chinese version of Xiaomi Mi 6 work properly with Google?

Hello everyone. I'm in China currently and I'll stay here for a while. I'm planning to buy Xiaomi Mi 6 from Taobao. Here is the link
So am I going to be able to use Google services? Play Store and all other if I buy this phone? Also, if not, I guess that I need to root my phone and install custom rom in order to get Google services. Is there any way to root and install custom rom as well as TWRP without using the computer?
Thanks
I've been to China and I bought a redmi not 3 there, in my experience there should be no problem; you buy the phone, unlock the bootloader and switch from China to global rom. Probably there is also the possibility to install Gapp on the Chinese rom. The only problem is that if you wanna use Google and it's services in China you better have a VPN
Oh, I understand. But it's not the same. Models are different. Actually I'm not sure. It's going to be my first Xiaomi phone. So far I'm familiar with Xperia and HTC. Love them both but "high" end devices are getting too expensive. I'm also considering to buy OnePlus 3T. What do you guys think which is better and easier for unlocking, rooting and installing custom roms?
I repeat again that I'm not familiar with these brands, never touched them actually I Need your help! And don't forget that I don't have PC. Unlocking bootloader, root, recovery and rom must be done without Pc. Help help help

Just unlock bootloader and flash Global rom via MiFlash. It's that easy.
My device is the Chinese model. Bought from a seller who just imports them and flashes the global ROM
The mi 6 models are all identical.
Global is the same as Chinese anyway just a different model number since they had to get more legal things pushed through to sell it internationally.
Buy the Chinese model in China. It will be cheapest there.
Then when you are back in a country which supports Google services you can unlock the boot loader, then flash using Mi flash to the global ROM.
Since the phone is identical this works fine. I was running the global ROM on mine (now custom ROMs).
Really a great phone and no issues for me.
Also checkout the mi mi 2 it looks pretty awesome but for a "smaller" device Mi 6 is fantastic.

Xiaomi follows the same standard for all their models..
Want to Unlock the bootloader?
-Make a Xiaomi account
-Link the phone to your Xiaomi account
-Request them to allow you to unlock the bootloader
-Waits 72 hours
-Unlock bootloader.
Thank you all for replying, appreciate your help. I'm going to buy Mi 6. Actually I meet a guy today who is willing to help me and he knows about these things. So, buying, unlocking bootloader, flashing official global rom>using Google services Later if I want I need to root device install custom recovery and new rom. We'll see. Any recommendations for rom, with no bugs

Thanks! It's not overheating?
No, it's just too large for me. I like to use phone with one hand. I'm not a fan of displays larger than 5.5 inches so I'll stick with Mi 6.

Hello!
According to Google, Huawei Nova 3e is P20 Lite, so you should go to this section.
installed recovery but not rooted
You are in the wrong forum. This is for the original Nova, not the device you have.
Hi,
I am about to buy Nova 3 or 3i when available, but my friend told me not to buy Kirin because I wont be able to modify it.
I dont modify phone unless I have to, like if after 2 years Huawei stopped the updates and I cant afford the new one, then I want to install new rom or new android.
Is my friend correct?
Thanks

Hi!
Kinda all Huawei phones are dead on XDA and the fact that it has Kirin it matters a lot. You see, Kirin is like Mediatek. If you want XDA support, then don't buy a phone with Mediatek or Kirin, because this matters a lot when it comes to development. Qualcomm is simply the best out there. Of course, there's phones with Qualcomm which lacks XDA support too, like Nova, Sony's phones and some others I guess, but having Mediatek / Kirin wouldn't help that and it would actually do the contrary.
Also, Huawei won't allow unlocked bootloader anymore soon, so you won't be able to install any ROM (not even root), but you'll be able to be stuck with an outdated security patch and with an outdated Android version because Huawei says that the phone is not eligible for the newer Android version.
If I would want to buy a new phone now, I think I'd look into the Xiaomi ones since they have good XDA support and they're cheap.
Thanks. Its a pity because I am looking forward for Huawei Nova 3.
I guess, theres no other choice now, I will try to go for Mi8 SE

Advice on purchase.

Hi guys, yesterday I burned the screen of my redmi 5 plus, fortunately was in warranty and I will be repaid. The seller offers me this model at the same price:http://www.grossoshop.net/it/xiaomi-redmi-note-5-versione-internazionale-3-32gb-nero.html that I personally do not know I would like to know if there is a TWRP recovery and if the development is active for this terminal. Should I accept the proposal?

For me, you can go for it because it's really a good device with superb specs. There is already a TWRP for Redmi Note 5 (you can find it in ROMs/TWRP section) and the development will growth in coming days (there is already customs ROMs like ResurrectionRemix or Lineage 15.1)

Best option if you want BL unlocked & root?

Given that it's now a total lottery as to how long it takes to get a BL unlock code from Xiaomi (could be up to 2 months), what's the best option?
Is it buying one with a Chinese ROM and unlocked BL, then immediately swapping to Xiaomi.EU / Global / RevolutionOS?
I don't much fancy a wait of up to 2 months to use a phone I've bought.
I've done this. Works fine with roms etc. Just have to be wary of making sure you know what your flashing etc.

Yes, get it from Tradingshenzen or similar with xiaomi.eu installed. Makes your life way easier. You can literally flash 8.8.9 eu or Revolution OS with a factory reset from TWRP and root.
Q. Hello,Is this finally true sealed Global Version with MIUI 9.6.7.0 and b20 or still with just Xiaomi.eu rom?Answer:
A. It should be now some 9.9 Version, from September, so no problems anymore.
This tends to suggest that Trading Shenzhen may now be supplying 'official' versions. So unclear whether BL will still be unlocked.

If you pick Xiaomi.eu as the preinstalled ROM it will always be a bootloader unlocked one they send your way.

They don't have that option currently. I'm not sure whether they will in future, I've asked the question.

Custom Rom?

Can anyone do some developing for Redmi note 8 pro. Because so much peoples are waiting for the roms for this phone?
My understanding at the moment, is that custom ROM development is being prevented on the Redmi Note 8 Pro, because it can get hard-bricked (become completely unusable) MUCH too easily, and the only way to unbrick it, is to use an authorised Xiaomi service account (which very few people have).
This means that, whenever a developer tries to test something they're working on (a custom ROM or custom recovery), if their phone gets hard-bricked while testing, their development completely stops until/if they can get their phone unbricked.
If Xiaomi were to allow all users to unbrick their Redmi Note 8 Pro easily (without needing these authorised Xiaomi service accounts), then I think that custom ROMS would start to come out (I believe the full source code has already been released, which is a prerequisite for custom ROM development).
Other members, please feel free to share your views, and correct me if I'm wrong on the above; what are the chances that Redmi Note 8 Pro owners will be able to easily/quickly unbrick their hard-bricked devices in the future?

I'm waiting and can't wait for some sort of ASOP rom to drop. Love the phone had it 3 weeks now and am rooted on MIUI 11. However I would really like to swap the rom as soon as possible

true, also mediatek is also to blame, they really aren't that "open-source" compared to other chipset manufacturers. thus preventing custom roms and app ports like a stable gcam port.
