Phone keeps nagging me to update - Nokia 8.1 Questions & Answers

It's been about 2 weeks since the update to Android 10 was released and my phone keeps nagging me to update, showing me this. Could anyone tell me which app shows this popup so I can silence it? Not disable it, just turn off notifications. And no, I'm NOT updating to Android 10!

Do you mind explaining to me what are the advantages of Android 9 over 10? Will be receiving the Nokia 8.1 today, and want to make a good start. Thanks!

Your bt will still work and the phone is overall faster than it is in Android 10.

7740 and IS HTC Update pushed to 7 Pro

I woke up this morning to an alert on my HTC 7 Pro that I had a software update available - "hooray", I thought, expecting just to get 7740.
To my surprise I was also pushed the HTC Update with Internet Sharing enabled, so my 7 Pro is now fully 'mangoed'. Don't know if any of you guys have had this too?
Annoyingly, though, HTC didn't think to fix the MAC address issue (changes every time you reboot), so my phone can /be/ a wireless hotspot, but can't /connect/ to my wifi network. Damn
I got this update today too for my 7 pro. I thought it was weird since I'm on DFT v2 I didn't think we got updates.
Sent from my Optimus 2X using Tapatalk
i guess it depends on your carrier and where you are located
maybe origin of phone plays a part too
i'm in singapore, where the 7 pro is not available, but i still got it
if it matters, my 7 pro is a unbranded set from the uk
Only IS for HD7 7720 not getting 7740 yet.
And nothing for me on the trophy yet -.-

Well so far I only know of Mozart, HD7 and 7 Pro geting updates so I'm sure you will get it eventually if your carrier supports it, it's just a matter of time.
Incidentally, I've very please that the update isn't carrier dependent, as this means for sure that they can't detect you using it if you're on an unbranded device
I got the 7740.16 update yesterday but if it is supposed to enable IS,, I'll be damned if I can find it...
Did it just show up in the program list for the rest of you? Is there something that needs to be changed?
Thanks,,

Internet Sharing is located in Settings, between Bluetooth and Email+Accounts
At least it is on my HTC 7 Pro, updated to 7740 (which if you look carefully includes the HTC update at the bottom) yesterday.
If you install a later update, all earlier updates are installed also. It looks to me like the HTC Update was activated slightly before 7740, so is getting packaged in at the same time.

Hi andrew
can you run WP7 Update Cab Sender to read the update log and share url of the HTC Update.
Can we force update like 7720? and how it's done.
I updated my unbranded hd7 to 7740 but still didn't have the IS. sucks!

Issues with unofficial MM on ATT

Well, someone had to start this... I know it's not their final release and I am not complaining..!
Been running MM for a few hours.
First issue is with Amazon Prime Videos. Have noticed that downloaded movies can judder and freeze, then BT disconnects. Anyone else seen that?

I noticed there was an Android Pay update this morning. Do you know whether Android Pay works with the new MM following the Android Pay update?

I did the update earlier - Still no go.
I've been running MM for about 15 hours now with no issues. Have not tried Android pay yet, but everything else works without any discernible problems. In fact: Android wear works better now than it did before; whereas on 5.1 it would constantly disconnect, now it doesn't even have a single problem.
Android Pay is no go here also.
Samsung Pay seems to be working.
With new loyalty cards feature added... it's not officially time to ditch Android Pay. It was disappointing since the day they launched
Neither Android nor Samsung pay support my bank but my experience with MM so far has been great. It feels like a brand new phone.
i have been running it for about 30 hours and have not had any major issue. the only minor issue I see is in the messaging app. if you hit the back button to exit out of a conversation and go back to you message list, it exits out of the messaging app all together. other than that, my phone is running twice as fast as it was before. my Bluetooth issues seem to be better as well.
After updating to Marshmallow, I can't seem to have my text messages preview on my status bar; that is, I do not see any words besides the little text icon. Is anyway else having this problem? I have ENABLED "MESSAGE PREVIEW" in the settings within the app, but still no go. Maybe I used package disable pro, disabling an app that interferes with it? Any help is appreciated. Thanks!
Just tested Android and Samsung Pay. Both worked for me.
The only thing I may have done different was I shutdown my device. Entered recovery(power+home+volume up) and cleared my cache.
When I rebooted my cellular data connected to 4G instead of Edge and it detected new updates for the bloatware lol. Worth a try if you need Android Pay.
Just tried a few minutes of movie in Prime Videos and no issues here, Android Wear stayed connected too.

Yep, now that loyalty cards are in Samsung pay, I can now disable Android Pay completely. I have to say Samsung knocked it out of the park with their reverse engineering magnetic strips to allow our phones to work with the older technology.

A non-issue, or bonus, is that my battery life has increased a good 30-40% with this update - and thats without using package disabler pro.

The new update 3.2.4

Should I or should I not? I heard it has problems with the LTE and stuff.. Is it true?
I haven't had any issues with neither lte signal nor battery life. cannot say about android pay as it is not available in India yet. You can always do a reset after the update and if still face issues then you can flash an older firmware.
I have it ... And i didnt notice a single issue with 4g/LTE.. i use LTE 70% of tthe time
Sent from my ONEPLUS A3003 using XDA-Developers mobile app
It does break Android Pay. Says something about having to unroot your device. Mine is not rooted, it's 100% stock. Known issue.
I don't have any problems with 4G and whereever available I use it. On O2 in the UK.
I just noticed battery drain with the 3.2.4 version. In 1h up to 10% - 15% even in standby.

No issues for me with LTE or battery life; I'm in Toronto, Canada. I don't use Android Pay so I cannot comment.
Running OOS 3.2.4 with Ex Kernel, Root and Xposed.
Phone connected to WiFi overnight drain is 0.6% per hour.
i just received my brand new OP3 today and I updated to the latest 3.2.4 and its been working fine for me and again I don`t use android pay.
When you have a look at the file name in the update notification, it seems to be from 6th August 2016.

It was available on August 12th, so it's not that new but still the lastest update as of August 25th, excluding the 3.5 community update.
OP should have asked in the proper thread like this one, http://forum.xda-developers.com/oneplus-3/how-to/oxygen-os-3-2-4-released-t3437911.

I've certainly noticed battery drain. I'm barely getting 24 hours out of it now, when I was getting about 36. A friend of mine says the same thing and thinks it's to do with dropping off the Wifi a lot.

subjective question and I assume this thread was started because of the other posts you have read. To be honest there are a few of these and honestly as in most things in life its a crap shoot. People complain about things on here that have never happened to me. So in short update or not update the choice is all yours and asking in here will only confuse you more.
By the way guys the Android Pay issue was a Google thing kinda and the update to Android Pay fixed the ability to pay with your phone. That was done some time last week or earlier than that I believe.
I updated to 3.2.4 last night and Android Pay didn't work for me today. See my update below. It does work .
Edit >>> I think the issue may be on my side due to an updated debit card. Will confirm later whether Google Pay now works for me.
Update >> Yep. It was my card.. Android Pay works fine. And, I'm posting this on a solid LTE full-bar connection. Glad I took the plunge.

Well said. Every same model phone differs in behavior with firmware updates. And in every phone forum I have seen a million of the same threads for these same reasons.
Now on to the question:
It is a crapshoot, so the only way to find out is to install. If you don't like it, roll back an update. Oneplus had every firmware they have released on their site. On 3.5 my better isn't as good, but I like the feature set and looks, but had none of the problems others have had on 3.2.4.

Ever since I've upgraded to 3.2.4 I've had an issue with music playback stopping after a few minutes with the screen locked. I reverted back to the previous OTA but the problem persists. Prior to updating to 3.2.4 I never had this issue with any of the updates.
Any ideas? I don't have any app-killing apps installed.
Thanks.
I personally have no problems with it, battery and reception is great. Got the phone 4 days ago, updated right out of the box then flashed superSU and Xposed.

Indeed. Atleast with Spotify and Soundcloud.
With Spotify, it'll stop after a song. Once the device is unlocked, the next song will immediately begin playing automatically.
With Soundcloud, it'll just completely stop mid-song.
Like I mentioned, I don't have any battery-saving apps installed. Battery saver mode is disabled. Restricted background data is disabled both globally and in app permissions. Really strange...

how do you turn off OTA software updates

maybe I am lucky but I have been getting awesome battery life out of my Note 7 but it did an update today that I could not stop. I am convinced that these OTA updates corrupt some of the apps and cause them to lag or run in the background. I don't want to fix what is not broken so want to turn off the OTA updates. I know in past devices you could do it under security and software updates but that option to disable is not there in this one. I have an AA&T version if that makes any difference.
thanks in advance!
Anyone?

Still Waiting For Android 11 OTA Update

It's now been three days since Android 11 has been released and it's still not available on my Pixel 2 XL. I've checked for updated manually a few times a day since then. Anyone else?
You are lucky that you didn't update your phone and I recommend you not to upgrade because It has become laggy and almost every app is freezing while using and battery drain is horrible even have completed 4 charging cycle my SOT has reduced to 4 hours which it was 5.30 hours.

I never do clean reinstall after a major release unless it's necessary. It takes so long. Re-insalling all my apps, reloading all my data (music, videos) restoring texts and some app data, configuring apps, logging into accounts, etc. It takes hours.
I didn't realize you could side load the OTA without having to do a wipe. I'll probably try that. Thanks.
You will lose Call Screening options.. If you updated
Just sideload it or flash the ota with twrp.
That being said you aren't missing much staying on 10 for a while

Me too, went back to 10 after just an hour, too many issues, particularly with apps that wont work on it...like my fave backup app, meaning i would have had to reinstall all my apps and reset them all up from scratch....
