How to force the frequency 4G on the note 10+ ?? (Force Band 3 instead of Band 20) - Samsung Galaxy Note 10+ Questions & Answers

Hello all !
My 10+ N975F/DS is connected on a 4G frequency (BAnd 20 - 800 mhz) that is not broadcast on the antenna closest to home but has several km. So I do not receive almost any 4G signal... The nearest antenna diffuse band 3 ( 1800 mhz). I tested with the pocofone of my girlfriend who uses this band 3 (with same operator) and it receives 4 bars in the same place.
I understand that the "service mode" menu on samsung allows to set a precise frequency in 4G.
Problem: I tested with the existing tutorial on google and the 10+ note is not compatible with the commands found.
Someone would know how to modify the frequency by this menu, or would have a trick to do it in another way? I just want to change the default band and tell him to connect to band 3 instead of 20.
An idea ?

Type *#2263# in the dialer and uncheck the band 20 from the menu and it should connect to the next best signal.

Hello. I also have a problem like yours and want to activate more frequency bands so I can get 4G+ internet and better antenna coverage. But unfortunately I didn't find a good guide on how to do this on Exynos processors. Somebody help...

*#2263# is not working on Note 10+.

Thanks, it worked for me. I installed activity manager, then searched for "com.samsung.android.app.telephonyui" and select it. After selecting this option, a white screen will appear and after selecting the magnifying glass at the top of the screen, a series of entries will be displayed. Then, I chose "Call settings .hiddennetworksetting.MainActivity", from the sandwich menu I chose "Band Selection" and after selecting the frequency bands I chose the tick which was successfully activated. Hope it works for the other exynos models. Mine is N975F "middle east".

Because this line don't work in the note 10 an 10+
To access in the frequency menu, you can use "Activity Launcher" application (in play store) then search 'hid" to have the right line. (hid, for "hidden")
After that, click in up left (three dots) and choose "band selection"
beware, this software changes things in the smartphone. For me, he changed the line of the sim in "global frequency" to be able to choose the bands I wanted. But then, to go back to the old version, I had to reflash the entire rom (but I'm probably not a reference)

Know bugs and their fixes(if any)
I'll keep this post updated with "basic" known bugs. From basic I mean basic features of a smartphone like Calls, Audio etc.
Known Bugs in R3:
*Camera HDR mode doesn't seem to be working.
*Alarm with device powered off and charging is not working (it works if not charging).
FAQ
Frequently Asked Questions:
Q) Where are Developer options and Performance settings?
A) Go to Settings > About phone, and press five times on Build number.
Q) How can I set 3G only network mode?
A) Open dialer, dial *#*#4636#*#* , open first option "Phone Information", there you can set your preferred network mode.
Q) Why is cpu min freq raising to 1190MHz?
A) It's "touch boost", cpu min freq increases when you touch the screen to give a better response. When you don't touch the screen for a couple of seconds, cpu min freq goes back to 300MHz.
Q) I don't have root permissions. Why?
A) You need to enable root access from Developers Option.

That not really a solution. I lost the in-call audio for the first SIM right after I switched the 3G mode to the second one. And since that ROM doesn't support 3G for both SIMs at the same time, one of them will be always without that in-call audio. As I said in the original thread, that bug doesn't seems to be sim- or slot-specific.

I've test it and I think it possible (cmiiw)
I changed sim2 to 3G and run speed test (result attach)
I've read some people did manage to get 3G on sim2 with KK roms (PA/Mokee) by simply switching sim2 to 3G (and some disabled the sim1 first) and then reboot.
well I don't know for sure, but maybe it natively support by hardware.

Yes, it's possible. There are two settings that should be changed: the preferred network type for each sim (located at the Mobile Network settings) and the default card for data (located at the Mobile data settings). When the first has been changed, the same setting for the second sim card automatically is being changed as well.

I was under the impression that SIM1 can only access 3G and SIM2 only 2G. This is because when you open the back panel to insert sim, there are two slots which says SIM1 (WCDMA) and SIM2 (GSM)
But Thanks for your inputs.. Will try soon..

You can try cpu temp in statusbar module.
I have a problem with gallery. It loads just some of the photo. The other photos are grey. I don't see a thumbnail. When I try to open them, Gallery force close occurs. My photo files aren't corrupted at all. I also face problems with MiKey, which is probably recognised as a microphone or headset. Everytime when I try to use VoiceSearch, it can't hear anything. MiKey v3 installed. We also can't manage CPU frequency or governors - but No-FrillsCPU works.

You're actually talking about VoLTE ir94 which is the video calling standard AT&T rolled out (next generation VoLTE, standard is ir92).
I've spent 4 days tearing down xmls and working hands on with AT&T techs.
AT&T advanced features like VoLTE and HDVoice or Video calling appear to be firmware dependant and not simply plug/play. AT&T branded devices uses AT&T firmware which enables these features.
Now, that being said the firmware could already support this on the HTC 10 Unlocked, it could be an IMEI filter. Currently there is not an answer except that these features do not work.
**If anyone claims to have AT&T HDVoice and VoLTE working on their stock HTC 10 please PM me and send me your build.prop and default.xml from system/customize/ACC/default.xml. I may also need other files, I'll let you know.

In order to validate this I need the following:
Verify you're on AT&T postpaid.
Screenshot of your data settings showing "Enhanced 4G" in Settings>Mobile Data> - should be here -
I need a copy of the following files:
Stock, unaltered build.prop
The entire system/customize/ folder or at least the full contents of: customize/ACC/, customize/CID/, customize/clientid, customize/MNS/, customize/MNSprop
Honestly I thought for sure I had it, even checked my mobile data settings and had the "Enhanced 4G" setting but now it's gone and I can't get it back.
I've managed to edit back in a few settings including "Search for AT&T MicroCell" but can't get the enhanced 4G and my sim verifies it's VoLTE provisioned in the handset (from testing mode).
You'll be helping a bunch of us out if you or anyone can get me unaltered stock files from a working ROM.
EDIT: I may have the solution to fix this already but the files are still appreciated. I'll be testing tonight and report back. For some reason I think some of us aren't getting the default.prop provisioning correctly and it's not enabling the proper RIL features.
Voice over LTE is in the call settings.

Lol I'm aware of this, it should be and as I said i'd swear it was in mine. It was the first thing I verified when I stuck my new SIM in
After unlocking and reflashing back my stock system image I can't get my handset to provision correctly so I no longer have the feature.

I have fought like hell to get Volte working on my M9 running mashmallow (even the stock dev edition) and could NEVER get it to work. Anyway...that said...you don't believe me??? files are attached.

Here are the files. I hope my "proof" was enough. lol.
Oh and I'm on a regular old monthly voice and data plan. Something like unlimited minutes and 15GB data/month.

Fantastic!
You know how it is, it's not that I needed proof per se, but that is not even where I was looking for the enhanced 4g toggle! (thank you!!)
For some reason my handset doesn't provision properly and it's bugged. You're helping myself and others a ton as we all know I won't be the only one with this issue.
Cheers!
EDIT: 1 other dumb*ss question: How did you trigger the screenshot on the 10?

The setting to enable volte toggle is in acc/default.xml. One of the last items under phone is volteEnableImsToggle. Needs to be set to true then reboot. See screen shot below when it's dry to false there is no option to toggle vote.

I owe you several.....
I've spent 2 days pouring over A9 and M9 XMLs, build.prop's looking for the issue.
I've been able to enable other features but not VoLTE. I've tried all various combinations:

not_specified

false

false

true

false

true

Do you happen to know which MNSprop file is the one for ATT? 31060 or 31180?

Yeah, it's cool. I know how it is. You've been working on it and banging your head against the wall and you're rightfully skeptical that we were talking about the same thing.
Screenshot is power+home button (fingerprint scanner).
Are you sure volte is a) enabled on your account and b) that you're in a volte calling area? If it's not enabled on the account, I'm not positive if the toggle will do anything to enable it. Also, to test, I always call my voicemail or some other AT&T number, like 411. If you're in a volte area those calls should ALWAYS go through volte. Also, to further test, go into phone information (*#*#4636#*#*) and set calls for LTE only (see screenshot in my first post). If the call can't go through volte it will just disconnect. That's how you can tell my call in the first message screenshot was volte (call duration would not have gotten to 0:06 - it would have disconnected at 0:00). Don't forget to change this setting back to GSM/WCDMA/LTE when you're done testing or everyone who calls you will get your voicemail if volte isn't working or is unavailable.
Another discovery...volte isn't working on Lee Droid at the moment. I think AT&T uses different telephony.apk than the WWE base uses. Also, I believe you need to be on the 617 (US Unlocked variant) firmware, but I have not tested with the 401 firmware yet (and I won't until there is a full RUU available).
Finally, can you see if call forwarding is working for you? Go into Settings>call>GSM call settings>Call Forwarding. Do numbers show up or do they all stay as disabled? I have found that call forwarding and volte kind of go hand in hand, although on my M9, I have been able to get call forwarding working when volte still would not.

I have no idea about this. A9 and M9 didn't have those files to my knowledge.
On a related note...It could be your sim. Honestly, I know that sounds like classic CSR bs, but it's true. Older sims do not support volte. I got my wife the A9 in november and used her sim from her iphone 5. volte and call forwarding would not work, but she didn't care about that stuff, so I never worried about it. For some reason a few weeks ago, I decided to try and get it working and went to the ATT store and got her a new sim and after one reboot, volte and call forwarding worked immediately.

Question about official CM13 - where is "Change Network Operator" option?

As title says - there is no Change Network Operator option in Settings on Official CM13 build.
I often move cross borders and dual SIM is great features for that, but it is annoying to not have option to change network operator.
I don't know why that is not included as it looks like essential feature.
I reported bug on CM jira, but it looks like nobody looks there, so I post here too.

No need to report bug Because its already there.
for this you just have to select 2g or 3g ore lte mode in preferd network mode.
then close setting app.
Now you can change/select different operator

Wow, that was fast, thanks!
I think devs should gray-out "Network Operators" option and give short explanation why it's not available, not just hide it.

How to enable LTE Carrier Aggregation Combo Bands 3 + 20 for German O2

Hello,
according to this post I found out that the Pixel 2 XL doesn't support LTE Carrier Aggregation Combo Band 3+20.
This Combo is used by the German Provider "O2" in many areas.
Is there a way to activate this combo?
My Pixel 2 XL has Android 10 with root.
Thanks in advance
US-version of Pixel 2 XL doesn't support but if you have EU/Global-version that should support.
Because you have rooted there is way to verify Carrier Aggregation support from UE Capability. I have instruction here: https://mt-tech.fi/en/how-to-get-4g-supported-ca-combinations-from-your-android-phone/ .

If you have rooted your device then you can install Network Signal Guru app from playstore and you can lock whatever band combination that you need.

You can lock network band in free version itself.
Just download Network Signal Guru app and open options. You can see lock band option. Select the band required and it will lock.
Note: - The app requires Super User rights which is possible only if your phone is rooted.

No module is required. But it will take some time to get lock ban option. Probably a minute or so for the first time.

Question Does OP 9 pro VoLTE work with ATT in the USA?

Can anyone verify whether OnePlus 9 Pro is working on the ATT network with VoLTE?
I considering purchasing the phone and installing a custom ROM (e/os), but I know that sometimes VoLTE cannot be enabled and depends on multiple factors. If someone has experience, please share, it could save me a hassle.

I have. A bunch.
Most of the hits I got are not relevant to me and relate to a problem in Germany a couple years ago, that was caused by the service provider, not the phone.
The phone is definitely capable of VoLTE, but that doesn't mean it will work with a custom ROM on any service provider.
I currently have a Samsung Note 10 plus that I spent weeks configuring with a custom ROM, only to discover VoLTE can only be enabled with Samsung's ROM. So it's basically useless. I'm trying to avoid repeating a painful experience.

Then why deal with custom ROM? Everyone I have noticed trying to run a custom ROM have more issues than stock ROM.

With OOS 11 and OOS 13 VOLTE works on AT&T Cellular in the US.
I can't answer for custom roms, but if the APN is setup correctly, it should work also.
The hardware in the OnePlus 9 Pro is capable of VOLTE on the AT&T Cellular Network in the US.

Seems promising.
But it's not a full guarantee. I have a Samsung note 10 plus that I installed a custom ROM and it didn't work, despite it being capable of VoLTE. Apparently their code is proprietary and difficult to reverse engineer, so none of the opensource ROM's can actually use the VoLTE on the phone.
That's why I decided to start this thread, so I don't get a phone that is non-functional.
Thanks for your reply though.

Their APN is not proprietary.
If you Google the cellular APN settings for a smartphone on the AT&T Cellular network, you will find what the correct settings are.
You can modify them yourself in the settings of the OS.
The hardware of the smartphone has to have a radio capable of working on the CORRECT CELLULAR CHANNELS in order for this to work.
AT&T does not use the same cellular channels as everyone else.
So before you buy any device, you need to do your research.
If it works on 4G LTE or 5GE, using the correct radio frequencies, and the correct APN settings, then VOLTE should work also.
If you are trying to get real 5G, then there are only a handful of devices that work on AT&T.

I did a bad job of communicating. I apologize if I'm using the wrong terminology. I was not referring to the APN settings being proprietary, but instead the ability of the firmware to make the hardware feature usable is proprietary.
I know this because I have 2 Samsung note 10 plus phones. One with the original firmware and one with the custom ROM. They have similar settings. But with the custom ROM when I go to the place where the VoLTE should be, there is no "switch" to set. Whereas with the original Samsung, it's there and I can switch it on.

This article above was the eye opener for me. When I realized there was no fix.
And yes, I am aware that ATT has a list of compatible devices, with specific model numbers. I was good there.
Cellular devices are no different then computers and WiFi. Driver support is where the translation is made and your connection exists.
Support and Development relationships are extremely important for devices to work properly.

Obviously a different carrier and country, but when I was with Bell (Canada) the OxygenOS 12 update enabled VoLTE and VoWiFi on my 9 Pro, and then once Lineage 19.1 was released with the binaries from OOS12 it also worked with Lineage.

Yes, but only the LE2125, no other version works on AT&T.
Head to the OnePlus section:
https://www.att.com/idpassets/images/support/wireless/Service-Capabilities-Unlocked-Devices-ATT-Network.pdf
Edit: And to be more specific, you cannot hack your non LE2125 device to get VoLTE on the AT&T network, as they rely on an IMEI whitelist, meaning they only whitelisted NA/Global devices and nothing else. If you're lucky you could go to an AT&T store and have them temporarily (temporarily unless you remove your SIM from your phone) whitelist your IMEI as an LE2125. Not certain however. Custom ROMs should work, as your IMEI is the same as on OOS.
