Need help to Revamp my Z2. - Lenovo ZUK Z2 (Plus) Questions & Answers

Just before 2 months I was gifted a Samsung s8.
I made it my primary device for a while.
As you know there is nothing you can do with Samsung phones in terms of customization, changing ROMs and also my new S8 screen broke recently.
I again want to use by Z2.
My Z2 was with my brother. He used it quite hard.
Front glass is cracked, touch is working. And also Back glass is cracked.
Any idea to replace those as cheapest as possible.
I want my phone to shiny and not cracked and I don't want to use skins. Just want a clean shiny, glassy device.

Is it easy to replace?
It's not glass? What is it then?
Thanks.

Easy enough, Its just white plastic with silver ZUK logo. Linky
The back is glued on so hair dryer or heat gun needed and it will lift off.
Most use B-6000 or B-7000 glue to put back on.

If you are from India, its cheaper and easier to try OLX or Quikr to find one used device. Not all people are familiar with custom rom & true capabilities of Z2 Plus so if you look hard, you can find a good scratchless device within 2.5k easily !!
Rather than paying high charge to repair it from Lenovo authorized service center, its cheaper to buy a second hand device.
Thanks.

Hey,
I also had broke my back glass recently, and i got a replacement from my local market for around ₹200.
Also i had paid a visit to the Lenovo official service center, and they quoted ₹2200, only for the back glass, and they had a doubt if it could be replaced as the model is out of production.
I would suggest you to buy it from local market, but keep in mind to check if the back sits properly into the phone as many back glass don't sit properly on the Indian variants of the Zuk Z2 plus.
And being for the screen lenovo charges around ₹6000-7000, if screen is available in stock. So i would prefer to go to the local market for this too, which would hardly cost you much. [Around ₹1500-2000].

Touch broken, worth replacing?

One month a go i have broken my touch but the glass is not broken, i believe this happened when I sat in my car. The phone was in my left front short pants poket, but slipped underneath i believe and that made a bending procedure and broke only the touch.
Is it worth replacing it? and what will be the costs?
If you do the repair yourself then yes it's still worth it. But it may not be easy for someone not used to doing these repairs. Check YouTube for guides. LCDs go for just under £60 in the UK.
If you have to pay a repair shop or use a Samsung service center then maybe not because will probably cost you the same as buying another handset. Maybe.
In service center where I'm working we are changing whole front panel for about 70$ using original Samsung part. Last week we sold used i9195 in perfect condition for about 130$ so as You can see front panel will cost You about half price of used phone. Of course You can buy cheaper phone in worse condition but it still be more than this part. Replacing process is quite simple but to peel off sim card slot is a little tricky so watch some disassembly tutorial first.
Good luck.
When u say whole front panel, u mean touch and gorilla glass. Coz i heard on a forum that the screen after a while become yellow. But i think that was g glass replace.
No, I meant whole front with display cause Samsung S line has digitizer (touch) on display, not like other phones on glass. So if You change only glass Your touch will be broken still. Whole fron is glass, digitizer, display and part of body with silver line around screen.
K thanks for the info!

Screen broken:(

Hello
Where may I a replacing screen for my Le Max 2? It has just fallen on the floor and is broken even though the touch screen is still working
thanks
Hope this helps. Check the store feedback before buying.

Good to know it can be done and there are spare parts around.
Always thought it was fatal with these newer "design over everything" phones.

Thx for your reply. Can you say which lcd screen is made by LeTV or is there an LCD screen which is made by LeTV? Thx
I don't know. Perhaps someone else on the forum has that information. I think they sell original screens but it's best you contact the sellers directly before ordering.

Hi!
Any update since October? I`m facing the same issue. I have googled a bit and found some complaints related to LCDs from Aliexpress claiming that they are no so bright and blurry, sometimes with white spots.
I have also find only a glass replacement https://www.aliexpress.com/item/5-7...lgo_pvid=aec8908f-0e28-4202-a650-ab20f3981970
of a glass with digitizer: http://www.ebay.com/itm/for-LeEco-L...966586?hash=item58e23ffdba:g:z4wAAOSw-kdXxPkl
But... also a lot people claims that the LCD is almost inseparable from glass... Do anyone have an experience with only glass replacement?
I found a local service that claims to be able to do that.. but I do not know whether to trust them not destroy the LCD. The said, that they do not have an experience with Le Max 2 but with other phones.
Thanks

If you can get the fast delivery, then you can give it a go. Although it's a risky operation,it might be alright in the end. The service should have some experience if they say that for other brands/phones they have succeeded. It might be ok, but always keep in mind that something might go wrong. And it's not worth waiting 2 months for the glass and another 2 for the display.
Edit: you can google the process and you will see how it's done for other phones. They need to have special devices.

Thanks for such a fast reply. I already did https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=cRqSyZk1SOU It seems to be very tricky. I have relatively fast delivery about 2-3 weeks so I`ll give it a try with only a glass an digitizer http://www.ebay.com/itm/for-LeEco-L...966586?hash=item58e23ffdba:g:z4wAAOSw-kdXxPkl.
I`ll write a review after the whole process is done for future reference
Very difficult. They make it look easy on youtube. I attempted a glass only repair on a nexus 6. You have to have correct amount of heat, and the LCD is very fragile. Too much heat will damage the display, but you need enough heat to soften the loca glue to be able to separate the glass from the lcd.. I even had a scientific dry bath at my disposal to get the right temp.. Not worth a home repair attempt IMO.
Cost of the le max 2 is just the reason I bought this phone (vs a $600+ device) and put on tempered glass from Ali express for less than $2. Will you consider replacing your phone for $200?
My wife broke her tempered glass protector twice on the max 2. Easy fix, just replaced the tempered glass cover. I'm just saying I learned the hard way, on a more expensive Nexus 6. I wasn't aware of tempered glass protectors then. Even after destroying my lcd (by trying a glass-only repair) and ending up buying the lcd+glass assembly, I still didn't get the phone's frame tight with the display assembly to make it acceptable.
I tried to repair lcd once for another phone. It took me 1h just to disassemble the phone, and half an hour more to try to carefully separate lcd from digitizer. I failed and then there was no point spending another hour puting the phone back together and had to throw all those tiny parts to the garbage. Think about this before you try.
Home repairs of such kind are a no go. This is why I encourage him to go to the repair shop where they do that kind of repairs to the screen. They do have a special heated plate with temperature adjustment, a vacuum device that eliminates any bubbles between the lcd and glass, etc. Also do note that not all the repair shops are doing this. Most of them are collecting phones for the specialized shops and charge an extra fee.
In conclusion, this kind of repair is not for everybody, and it would be best done in a specialized repair shop. For reference, check the following video:
I know it's written in romanian and for an Allview, but I guess that most of the things are understandable to get the idea of how complicated the whole process is for any home attempt.
So, after a month in repair center I have my phone back. The screen is an original one with digitizer changed. Between digitizer and screen there are some bubbles, buttons are switched, like back is on a left instead of right and the bugged issue... They are very undeterministic and do not always work and sometimes they work without even touching so... Apps are switching and so on... I needed to disable them and use gestures instead.
The repair was about 40USD and digitizer 15 USD... It is hard to say whether it was worth it or exchange the complete screen.

Replacing the screen + digitiser on this model is pretty easy provided you have access to a hot air gun. Took me about 15 minutes and I'm in NO WAY a pro. For the price of a new screen I definitely wouldn't attempt a digitizer-only repair.

And I can say, It's same as the original one in every detail(Even production date so close). Replacement is very easy with tool that came with screen.
BTW, You have to buy glue(B6000,E7000,T8000 or whatver) for fix it in place.

Oneplus 3 Original Display vs LCD Replacement?

Hi i just bought a Oneplus 3 but the glass is cracked and have read that you cant just replace the glass itself because its too difficult and would have to replace the whole display.
Has any one done this and found the replacement display to be worse than the original?
Also there are tutorials on Samsungs S7 edge which show how to replace just the glass, would this method work on Oneplus 3? VIDEO LINK: https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=pAdF_hNh358
If you are not experienced with these things, DO NOT attempt replacing such an expensive part yourself as you may damage your whole device. If you like to live dangerously and don't give a fuk to money or damaged phone, this could be a great DIY product.
it's pretty hard, but really isn't impossible if you're experienced. working on my own repair shop, replaced few just the glass, but few also cracked during frame removal (as of hard as stone glue)

Idk about you, but this phone is extremely easy to repair. I've taken this thing apart and its fairly simple. Now when it comes to only glass repairs, that's another story. Without dry ice its near impossible and with dry ice its still somewhat dangerous as the AMOLED panel is fragile as all hell. If you're going to do a glass only repair, do not do like that video shows, it is extremely hard to do with heat, freezing the display completely with dry ice is the way to go.
To answer the OP's question, no one knows. Oneplus does not sell replacement parts so the screens are NOT OEM, but they're probably of similar quality. Why not try it out and see?
haha thanks guys i thought it would be easy just to pull the glass off, i have seen a video on dry ice glass removal but if you guys are saying its near impossible ill just have to buy the replacement LCD off ebay

Well with dry ice its not too hard, you just have to be extremely patient and always keep the glass and adhesive at extreme temperatures. If you're the type of person that's really good at taking things apart and are very delicate with your hands, do the dry ice method. If not buy the LCD (I really hope these aftermarket screens are not actual LCDs) because you will probably break the screen
Have u done the dry ice method?
also i think it has the original screen with cracked glass but i think the Chinese replacement is lower quality but i dont know how bad it is and i am pretty sure their not amoled displays.
There are some web stores such as parts4repair that claim to sell OLED replacement screens for the OP3, though at a much higher price than the Ebay ones of course.

Some phones are quite hard and don't fit together well after taking them apart (galaxy S6 was just stupid) and then there's the OP3, take 2 screws out and pop the entire chassis out of the aluminum back, you can get to the screen pretty easily after and nothing is glued in place with indestructible glue
can one one confirm that parts4repair have amoled displays?
also if i were to do the dry ice method would i need to use uv loca glue before using new glass

There might be, you can't be certain though. If you bought a complete replacement unit for less then $100 USD, it's likely just a cheap LCD panel. There is allegedly a small difference in the cable length for the screen component between the A3000 and A3003 models of the phone. The connector, and physical dimensions of the screens should be identical though.

No none of them are original... You most likely will get a really cheap non oled display. Don't be surprised if the screen cracks in your pocket.. I already have replaced it once on my old phone and I got a fake one and it littery cracked in my pocket.. Thats why I suggest you guys trying to send it to Oneplus first.
I just had my op3 repaired for a cracked screen and aluminum back panel was well. It wouldn't display any picture. Also my volume key was damagedd from the drop so they had to replace the entire back aluminum panel. I could swear the phone is brand new they did a fabulous job. The authorized repair center is in Texas it's Acer repair facility that also did one plus devices for warranty and out of warranty repairs. It's was extremely cheap compared to buying parts yourself. The cheapest I could find for the screen on eBay was asking$115-$120 and who knows the quality. This is original parts at this place. $130 for everything including shipping. The screen would have only been $95 but the extra aluminum back cost me the extra. They also sent a clear thin case with it too free of charge and I actually love the case. It's well worth just sending to one plus and having it fixed right with original parts. Also keep in mind they have a warranty on their repairs. I am extremely happy with the job they did.

I got in touch with Oneplus and told them the phone is second hand and they asked for the IMEI number. They told me that it would cost 87 euros £76 for me and this includes repair of phone and parts including VAT. But they did say that if there were further problems they would fix them but this would be added to the bill.
+1 for sending it into Oneplus, i am sending mine to a authorized repair centre CTDI in poland, so i know that the parts are gonna be original and not a cheap LCD display.

Nothing on AliExpress, BangGood, Alibaba, eBay and anywhere else in my coutry.

+1. Cracked my screen last week, still fully functional but crack pattern is expanding and I don't trust it to be usable for a long time to come.
Been searching for replacement screen assembly but found nothing. Going to try contacting Lenovo technical support in my country now...
Lenovo tech support pointed me to a repair firm.
Repair firm asks to send the phone in, after which they provide a quote. If I don't agree to get it fixed, I have to pay a few tens for problem analysis. Like wtf, it's a cracked screen, you change it, it's a standard job with a standard cost that you can give me before I send it in!
Called another repair firm. They can't get the screen.
Apparently these screens are just not available.
They are on Aliexpress right HERE.
Expensive as hell though, considering you can get a new P2 for 180 euro's or a new screen for 160.

Seems like nowhere.
The order I made on aliexpress was subsequently cancelled because of it being "out of stock".
Options at this point seem limited to:
1. get it fixed for stupid money (not even sure whether any fixing service can get their hands on it)
2. try to locate a damaged second-hand phone with working screen you can buy for less
3. if your LCD and touch input still work fine like mine, just put up with it and wait for some months until people start upgrading and the asking prices for second-hand models start to drop
4. meanwhile, search on aliexpress or ebay every single day and hope a screen gets available for an acceptable price
I dropped my phone yesterday and the screen shattered from end to the other but the phone is working fine. I have just ordered the replacement front glass off of ebay for £19.99 from HK but seems a bit too cheap to me but worth a gamble at that price. Only problem is I have no idea how to take the phone apart and separate the glass from the digitizer! Are there instructions about I could follow or is my best bet taking it to a mobile phone repair shop to get it done?
I can post the ebay number if anyone is interested.

You tube. Check the entire display removal tutorial. Then check glass replacement tutorial for galaxy s8.
After taking off display, you have to chip off the glass from display after heating it with a hot air gun. Then remove the residual UV glue from panel. Then after making sure panel is clean, apply new UV glue on center, then place glass on top and then press from center gently to spread the glue evenly and that's it.

Thank you but i'm never going to manage to do that myself, I don't own a hot air gun for a start. Looks like i've wasted £20 plus the postage as I doubt i'll find a mobile phone repair shop to do it for me, i'd happily pay someone to do it if I could find someone!

A couple of days ago my 4 yr old threw my phone violently and has smashed the screen :crying:
I can see on Aliexpress there are replacement screens for sale: https://www.aliexpress.com/item/For...09-47d6-b983-9f29fe68067d&transAbTest=ae803_4
I am based in the UK and this phone is not as popular as in India etc and there are not many places to get screen replaced
I have watched a few videos online, can this be done without all of the fancy machines?
For example do you really need a press? could you not just stick a heavyish book on the phone or is it just not possible
Clutching at straws I know
No, it doesn't work like that... if u want to replace just the glass.. you must have a UV lank to dry the glue..
I think he has to change the complete screen .
Did you look to the tuto on youtube ?
Just buy a new display and replace it. It is much easier but it costs a bit more. Make sure it comes with the frame as well.

I can see the complete display on Aliexpress
I replaced the display on my Redmi Note 3 pro and it was never the same again
The replacement displays are not a patch on the original
I may have to go down that road, is there no one who has attempted to replace the glass themselves?

It is very hard to do a glass-only repair. You have a 60-70% chance to break the display during the process
Broke my display, digitalizer and screen still intact only glass shattered.
As I live in Brasil, there is no trustworthy shop to replace screen.
Searching at aliexpress I saw lots of people complaining that screens are subpar to original.
Can someone recomment a place where I can buy an original replacement, or at least a good one?
My phone screen is "tianma td4310".
