The dark of Galaxy S10e of my wife is way better (darker) than it is on my galaxy S20.
Really disappointed.

Yes, it is a good gain, but not game changer.... I would prefer still can plug my headphones when charging and better Collor and contrast as we had on S10

I'm impressed with daylight visibility. 75% brightness is plenty.

Just Excellent, even in full sunlight the screen remains legible. Very impressive compared to other phones I've used.
Any of you with a Note 5 been able to confirm the suggestion by some on YouTube that say the Note 5 is brighter than the S7/Edge?

I currently own a note 5 is does get really bright and no issue outside but never used a s7 before

I tend to find the auto-brightness is too bright in many situations, including outside under the noonday sun.

This is actually a perk that made me reconsider this over the HTC 10. The brightness outside is phenomenal on this device.
Despite the low-ish brightness output I'm pleasantly surprised with this
Superb here in sunny Los Angeles. My secondary is a Note3 with Phronesis Note7 MM port, and the "Outdoor Mode" in the Display settings is just ridiculous bright. I do notice the absence of this feature in stock S7 firmware. Fantastic nonetheless!!!

my note 5 seems brighter but both are very impressive in the sunlight
When I'm outdoor in extreme sunlight the phone's brightness goes all the way up and then it enters a mode where colours seems washed out. But only if the light is very strong. Does your S7 behave the same?

but the colors could have been accurate
Very good display but poorly calibrated. Has a blue tint like 1st gen amoled. Have to say I am used to it by now and enjoy the screen.

The contrast is a little too high, and details in the shadows are lost. When watching a movie with lots of night scenes, such as Daredevil, I can barely see what is happening. I'm pretty sure it increases contrast when a video is played. I've noticed that when I play a youtube video then rotate the screen the video suddenly gets darker.
If you're a stickler for accurate calibration then apparently it's not great in this regard. But IMO the screen looks very good and I even got unsolicited compliments on its clarity and colours (what most people like i guess) from users of iPhone 6 and Galaxy Note 4.
Anandtech has science-y exact measurements in their review. I agree with what other people are saying. The whites are a bit bluish, but I'm not bothered by it. The Nougat/EMUI 5.0 update adds a Night Mode/blue light filter that I didn't like at first, but does seem to be easier on my eyes at night.
The contrast is good.. I dont have anything to complain for the contrast.. the colors and the black I like on this one
One of the best IPS on the market. I don't complain a weak smoked. Yes, the black on that kind of screen is real black and bla bla bla, but guys, IPS screens are way better and resistant, and the adaptive brightness on this smartphone is excellent.

Just changing my broken screen by a new one. And I was surprised by the contrast of the new one... 100x better than my original screen, close to oled screen (really true black), how is it possible? The original screen should be better than a compatible one...

Maybe I think it need to have smoother transition on dark videos, like degradation on dark areas.

I was actually noticing this very much recently whilst watching Supernatural. If you know the series you know much of it takes place in the dark so the DEEP blacks can look brilliant on this device but often times it can also be too much. Degradation would definitely help. I played around with the Video Enhancer option using Netflix and MX Video Player Pro but didn't notice any major differences in picture brightness where the blacks are concerned.
But I prefer the trade-off of having the deepest blacks to that grey-heavy LCD stuff any day.

On my old S7 Edge the screen was beautifull, I am not saying that the one on S8 is not.... the only con on this screen is that. yes I know supernatural and does videos have to much dark.
Well at least I am not the only one.
when I set the screen to AMOLED Cinema it improves a bit.
I love watching movies on this phone. The screen is absolutely beautiful.
I have yet to watch a movie or netflix yet...but now Im going to have to! I know colors and blacks in photos really pop...soo...off to the movies!

Amoled's black crush is pretty much unavoidable in low brightness, I can notice it on mine but only when under 30% brightness and on a very dark screen, the only possible fix for this would be to have MicroLED.

Thanks for your response. This was mostly mitigated last year on the s9 using Screen Balance. I had hoped that Samsung would have included a fix for this now. It’s impossible to test this in the shop under the bright lights so I was curious... I didn’t think every single OLED suffered this but perhaps I was wrong. Thanks again for confirming.
