Phone, contacts and MIUI messages. - Redmi Note 8 Questions & Answers

Hello gentlemen.
Redmi Note 8 Global comes with standard Google calling, contacts, and messaging applications.
The MIUI versions, in my opinion, are infinitely better.
My question is:
Is there how to put these applications?
Already tried to download by apkmirror but the calling app does not work.
Thank's.

Same issue here... Wondering why Xiaomi decided to bundle this device with google apps... Anyone knows how we can get the MIUI apps back

I personally like Google’s more than Xiaomi

They say on Xiaomi forums that Google requested to put their apps.

Switch to Xiaomi.eu ROM, more enhanced and fluid than stock. It has miui default apps for Phone, Contacts & Messages.

There are two ways on global.
The first is through Magisk.
The second is through Recovery.

Xiaomi.eu is a unofficial firmware, so you cannot install without unlocking bootloader. There are some good guides in the forums, some searching will show you the whole process. It will void your warranty, by the way.
It is Multilang (multiple language support) so it should support most if not all languages.

Mi Max 3 not receiving SMS from short numbers

Phone doesn't receive 2fa messages, bank codes, etc.
What I've tried:
- checking sms center number
- disabling MIUI optimizations
- changing settings of messaging app (disabling block list, enabling miui sms)
- disabling volte
- reflashing global 10.0.2.0 miui via fastboot with full wipe
This is chinese phone with unlocked bootloader which came with global 10.0.1.0 miui.
I was able to fix this on another Mi Max 3 with chinese 8.8.9 ROM by disabling MIUI optimizations if I remember correctly, but it doesn't work on this one...
Any idea how to fix this?

Their apps are garbage. Use Textra.
I've tried another SMS app, but it doesn't help
have u tried put sim card to second slot? for me phone shows incorrect info, 2ns slot is 1st sim, 1st slot is 2nd sim, on all global ROMs, since MIUI 9. so, maybe changing slot for a while may help. I wish you success

switching sim slots also doesn't help(

i just Flashed the Indonesian rom on my global rom miui11 :
1- unlock phone with miflash_unlock-en-3.5.910.35 (requires 7days to unlock)
2- download Indonesian fastboot rom begonia_id_global_images_V10.4.2.0.PGGIDXM_20190926.0000.00_9.0_global and extract it
3- flash rom with miflash 2017.4.25.0 by clean all and lock option to be safe and have bootloader locked
4- done. now you have miui dialler and call recorder and you can update officially to miui 11
no twrp or root needed .
no bricking phone risk

It means that the ROM is ota updatable by itself. And supported by update servers when you're checking for update. Because you have locked bootloader finally

How about with Muii 11 . My phone updated with miui 11.
Thanks.
Hi, anyone found a way to do this? (without installing indonesian rom).
I found some zip files used for Russian ROMS that add the miui default apps through TWRP, maybe there are similar ones for the Global ROMs?
It's weird why Xiaomi do it differently for India and Indonesia, so confusing. Does unlocking bootloader and changing to a different official ROM void the phone warranty?

Maybe one with an Indonesian ROM can back up the applications using titanium backup and share them with Google drive or Dropbox? Would that work?

OLDMESSAGE
Hello,
following your instructions,
1) I unlocked the redmi note 8 pro phone with miflashunlock (after waiting 5-7days), then

3) but I received the error ANTIROLL BACK error
..therefore I checked the roll number on my device trought dos cmd "fastboot getvar anti" and anti it is equivalent to 1
...therefore I checked the flash-all.bat using a text editor like Notepad++ and looking for the following line: set CURRENT_ANTI_VER=# and found it equivalent to 4
...
WHAT I HAVE TO DO NEXT? MAY I MODIFY THE FLASH.ALL.BAT FILE ? WILL I BRICK MY PHONE?

SOLUTION TO ANTIROLLBACK ERROR:
Simply rename the fastboot rom because it's too long name path.
Detailed process:
after downloading the fastboot rom named begonia_id_global_images_V10.4.2.0.PGGIDXM_20190926.0000.00_9.0_global.tgz, I extracted the file and then renamed the file extracted (folder) in a shorter way and putted on the desktop
Using miflash 2017.4.25.0 this time I selected the rom in the desktop with a shorter name and... IT DID SUCCESS INSTALLATION... thank you guys, I found guide here
GUIDE 4 NOOBS (like me) to restore MIUI DIALER, SMS & Contact App
(and therefore to restore call recording and a normal usable phone, simple answering process etc...)
device: REDMI NOTE 8 PRO
FIRST prepare your device:
1) register your phone to xiaomi cloud server (www.i.mi.com or from phone settings, mi account)
2) log in from your phone into xiaomi cloud and make a backup of... your phone
3) open settings, about phone, keep tapping on MIUI Version to enable developer option
4) open settings, additional settings, developer option: here you have to enable usb debug, unlock
(more to edit... I will keep working tomorrow..sorry for now)
So I'm not sure if there are any updates on how to get the MIUI dialer (which includes call recording) in the Redmi Note 8 (ginkgo).
I found this thread, which however is for the pro version, and points to a telegram group to download a magisk module.
I downloaded and installed the module.
SMS and Contacts MIUI apps work.
However when I tap the Dialer app and try to call someone, it shows the google dialer screen and there's no option for recording. Same for incoming calls.
Then I went to Apps > Manage Apps and tapped the 3 dots the top right corner, then went to "Dial". There are two apps there, one "Phone (system)" with the google icon which is selected, and another one "Contacts and dialer". When I tap the other one, the screen goes black for a few seconds and the launcher restarts. However the google dialer app remains as default.
Any ideas for this?

MIUI has been available for a while now but thanks anyway, seems it's been updated recently.
I actually used a MIUI phone before I got Z6 Pro. Wanna test it out as the so called global firmware on our Lenovo is plain garbage.
So camera seems to be working fine but... What about the wide-angle one??

I'd suggest that you stick with the official stock ROM until decent custom ROMs are available.
MIUI would have been a great option but ads and Chinese apps are too intrusive. Brightness control in the notification shade are laggy, UI would freeze occasionally.
But dam the MIUI's UI feels so much better compared to stock.
I wish someone would compile a global MIUI ROM for us.
UPDATE: I am actually using MIUI as of right now and enjoying it much more compared to stock.
The above mentioned problems, I've been able to get rid of some of them. Deleted bloatware. Brightness slider got smoother somehow. UI doesn't freeze or lag.
My few complaints:
Can't set lockscreen wallpaper.
Battery life got slightly worse.
Wi-Fi would disconnected sometimes.
In rare occasions SIM card isn't recognized. You need to wait for 10-20 seconds for it to start working again.
Finger print scanner doesn't work.

Mi 10T asking if the update Mui 12.1.1 for A11 has some bugs or NOT??

Hi, guys I just bought Mi 10T yesterday and I notice there is an update 2.8G for the Mui 12.1.1 and I wonder if I should stick to Android 10 at the moment because I heard there are some bugs in the new update like an unresponsive touch screen and some other issues.
What you think !!!!
I currently use official Global EEA rom 12.1.5.0 (RJDEUXM). It is definitely more buggy than the Android 10 rom came with the device. But, I must say it is a lot better than the first Android 11 rom (12.1.1.0).

After writing my previous comment, I re-enabled MIUI optimization and my problems have gone for good I needed to disable it to install YouTube Vanced, so enabling it was not much of an issue. The bugs I encounter were
Gestures were not working on Nova launcher
I couldn't change Whatsapp notification sounds
Inter-app file opening (like opening a pdf attachment with a third party app) was not working.
Based on this development, I could recommend the latest official EEA rom. But, I should note that Android 11 doesn't chance user experience a lot.

In the first place other users reported that Miui optimization is hidden on A11. How did you bring it back? Also using Vanced and I'll probably need this.
As for the bugs you mentioned - the 1 and 3 is bugs (features) on A11 itself. You can't use gestures unlees you use the stock launcher and the 3 - A11 changes how the apps access the data on your phone.
Thanks!

I learned it from a blog post. To unhide MIUI optimization scroll down to the bottom of developer settings and tap the "Reset to default values" option under Autofill section several times. It gets hidden again but your settings persist.

Root is not required but you will need to unlock bootloader(typical 7 days wait), download Mi Flash tool and Indonesia latest fastboot ROM zip file. Then flash it with clean all option. Do not lock bootloader again while flashing ROM from different region.
In nutshell it's not worth of time just for dialer and contact app. However you can flash Modded MIUI rom like EU using twrp. There are lots of guide available on YouTube.
