Front camera doesn't work? - Realme X2 Questions & Answers

Hello everyone, as you can see from this topic's title, my issue is with the front camera.
So, yesterday I got the phone, and at first everything worked perfectly. I also took a couple of selfies.
Now it doesn't work, I tried almost everything. I also followed the instructions on the official website but it's still a no go for me, it just shows me a black screen when I switch from the back cameras to the front one.
I tried the factory reset at well, but it still doesn't work. What stops me from just returning it is the fact that it worked at first, as I already said I also took a couple of selfies, so I think it's my fault or something...?
I don't know if this can help, but I think it happened after I upgraded from 6.0 to 6.1 (I saw in the changelog that there was actually an "improvement" right in the front camera).
Thank you for your attention.

Return it!

Camera doesn't work
I went to use the camera on my Dash the other day but when I pressed the camera button, nothing happened. I've tried every which way to get the camera to work but everytime I try to load the camera application nothing happens. I've gotten the camera to work in the past so I don't know why it doesn't work anymore. Any help would be greatly appreciated - thanks!
By the way, I'm running WM6.
press and hold the button
I am fully aware that you have to either hold the button or press alt+camera - I read the manual. I should have made that clearer in my original post, sorry.
s620 camera problem
Hi guys, really would appreciate some help on this...
I just got a HTC s620 from shipped from the states (I'm in New Zealand), and I've noticed a problem with the camera.
The first day I got it, I was able to use the camera despite it being a little buggy and it would crash at times...
Since the second day, everytime I try to go to the camera or video recorder app, the app will crash. The little loading symbol comes up for a few seconds and then everything stops. I am able to go back or back to the home screen. I have tried soft resets, multiple hard resets, but nothing works!
It is so frustrating, this is such a great little device, but the camera issue really skunked me!
Do you thinking re-flashing the ROM would help? I am hoping that when WM6 comes out, it would solve my problem...
It's hard to get it serviced as I am overseas!
me too
I've been having the same problem and I have WM6 - I think it started happening after I upgraded. I would reflash the ROM but the thought of deleting everything and have it still not work is a little scary...
well...I flashed the ROM today with the HTC WM5 version...
still no luck! Now I'm starting to think that this is a hardware fault...
Any ideas?
Excalibur Camera
I`ve read in other article (don`t remember where), that the HTC Camera is limited by software in 1.3 mp... actually, the camera has 2.0mp.. anyone knwo anything about that? With any kind of patch, it`s possible to record videos with a better quality?
Thanks,
Regards!
oh, that would be so cool.
Not that the camera is what made you buy this phone, but still, if you can better, then why not!!!
I'm hoping some1 knows about this.
tatarezende, send us the link for this forum where you read this.
That would be soooo awesome !!
Shouldnt be that hard actually to extract the 2.0mp driver from a some newer device with 2mp, like the S710 maybe!?? Would be really cool...but we should have a glance on the article..
hm...if we can hack or tweak this camera to take pictures at 2.0 MP - that'd be the ice-breaker cause that's the only thing this phone's lacking and that's a minimum requirement of a 2.0 MP Camera based on the standards today.
now, i personally use a Ateksoft Cool Camera as my camera application,
http://www.ateksoft.com/
check it out. it really works. i've used it a couple of times, you have to play around with the settings to get it to work properly but yeah, the pictures are quite vivid.
so... still no news about unlocking camera?
Yes sirrrr that would be nice

Broken Camera?
Hey everyone, first real post here.
I purchased a "new" T-Mobile Dash about a week ago, and received it about 2 days ago. I just unlocked it to make it work with my network (AT&T), and while messing around with the phones features I noticed that the camera wasn't working.
I've jumped from 3 different ROMs: The newest official T-Mobile ROM, the newest Roger's ROM (not sure what number), and now I've finally found and downgraded to T-Mobile's WM5 ROM (1.11.531.1)
Only now that I have downgraded to WM5 does the Camera application actually boot. At least now it displays an error message, "Unable to initialize camera. Failed to set up the camera device." I am assuming that this is a hardware issue, any thoughts?
Camera not working on DASH after upgrading
Hi,
I upgarded my T mobile Dash with the WM6 T mobile interface but than my camera and volume strip stopped working. Can anyone tell me how do I go back to the WM5 ROm, any site where I can downlaod the same.

[Q] Front Facing camera not working?

Hello
I've just received my Note 2 in the mail today, popped in the sim card and booted it up. Works fine and it's awesome.
When i checked out the camera, it launched fine and i was able to take perfect pictures using the rear camera, but when i switched to the front facing camera, it just came up with a warning saying "Kamera Mislykkedes" (Translated it means "Camera Failed") with 1 button saying "Okay" which would just close the camera app.
If i tried to relaunch it, it would stick to try and use the FFC and simply give the warning again and again.
If i go into Applications and clear all data from the Camera app, it would switch back to the rear camera and thus work again.
But i simply cannot get the FFC to work, i also tried downloading "Pudding Camera" off the market, and it does the same.
I found some other people having problems with older Samsung phones, and it can have something to do with some apps not releasing the camera app correctly after usage. But i haven't installed any apps that didn't come with the phone (except Pudding Camera, but it didn't work before that either).
Anyone got an idea? I really really really really don't want to have to send the phone back already because of a hardware issue, so that's why i'm here.

You can try if face unlook works.

Just a guess here but if a factory data reset doesn't fix it, it sounds like a hardware return sorry.
the exact scenario happened to me but with the back camera
Just flash latest stock rom

What did you do to get it fixed? I have a similar problem
I have a galaxy note gt n 7000 (galaxy note I) and had this camera fail problem 4 months ago. I have even bought a front camera module from china but the product still didn´t get here. It takes more than a month for these stuff to come to my house in Brazil. Well, anyway, I had given up on trying to solve the problem (that´s why I bought the module) and I usually flash 3 or 4 roms a month (love to mess). So, then, I flashed the ROM super nexus on my phone and opened the camera normally, because the rear camera never had problems and guess what... when the camera opened I saw my face. Scared to death. kkkk. Now, it´s my fourth day using the rom and the front camera is working nice.
I don´t believe most of the users are having hardware issues. I think there´s something related to JB update because ppl started complaining about these camera errors after the update... but who knows. Hope u all have the same luck I had.
=)

[Q] Replacement Camera

Hello all, first post here. I did some searching here and google but I can't find anything definitive. I recently DIY'd a cracked screen, everything went smoothly touch screen and everything is working. I followed a detaield tutorial on youtube from phonedoctors.com After rebooting the phone, the front facing camera didn't work at all, and the main camera worked for about a day. Now when I open the camera app it's just a black screen, all the buttons work but still a blackscreen of nothingness. I've gone into the "secret menu" through the phone keypad and tested the camera, the main one came up the first time but now it won't at all. I took the phone back apart last night and rechecked all the connections on the board and everything seemed fine. I guess my question is this, is there something else I might be able to check, or am I looking at a hardware issue. If so, is it possible to replace both cameras on the S3. I see the replacement parts in online stores but no directions on replacing the parts. I completely unrooted and factory reset the device as well to no avail, so I went ahead and rerooted the device and currently running CM 10.0 the most stable. Just looking for some guidance, I've tried to give as much info as possible. Thanks for reading!:good:
Regards,
Matthew
PS Just removed everything again, unplugged the main camera from the board and redid everything. No dice...
I've recently tried a known "working" camera as well with no luck. I've come to the conclusion that it might be something wrong witht he board which means I'm out of luck on getting this resolved. Unless someone else has had a similar issue and fixed it?

Rear camera/Flashlight not recognized

My rear camera suddenly stopped working. My phone didn't get any hurt in nowhere, just suddenly it stopped working. I was takin photos since 10 minutes before, I locked the phone and I noticed that Torch tile disappeared. I thought it was a bug and I didn't care anymore. The day before I noticed that even rear camera stopped working, I was trying to take a photo but the "change camera" (from front to rear) disappeared in every camera app I was using, camera apps opened by default with front camera opened. I tried to reflash ROM thinking that it was a ROM problem (even if I was using the same rom since months ago and I've never had any kind of problem), no results. Reflashing everything starting from stock firmware, no results. As a last hope, I tried to replace the rear camera by buying a new one, but the problem it's still here. Could someone that experienced the same problem, tell me where the problem could be? Or maybe some possible fixes, every kind of help is appreciated. Thanks.
Same
I have the exact same problem. After wiping the cache the rear camera is recognised and I am able to take a picture with it (which is not saved into gallery) but about 5 minutes later the option to switch to rear camera has gone and all camera apps (including social media such as snapchat) is stuck on front camera. This leads me to think it's not a hardware problem but rather that of software with which I am running cm13 nightlies that I have updated every day for the past week in the hope it will be patched.
I have this exact same problem on my d855 too..!
Sooooo frustrating, I've been looking everywhere for a fix, tried full factory reset the other day (I'm running full regular stock with no root or anything), and sadly that didn't work either... I'm glad to read someone has tried changing the camera hardware, cos that was I step I've considered taking, but I now know would be a waste of time and money...
But still, the problem persists..!

I don't think that's a software problem simply for one reason: I'm on the same rom and kernel since months and camera worked fine. It stopped working suddenly with no reason.

Yeah now you made me understand why the camera worked for some minutes. I'll try clearing cache after installing new camera module. I'll report the result. Thanks anyway.
Edit: It's not working. At first boot, systemUI doesn't load well, when I reboot everything works fine but rear camera isn't working. Maybe late I'll try with phone's camera. Now I'm using the new one bought some days ago.
same here!!!!! I'm using LOS13.1 on my d855 and i can't fix it... any idea?
What OS are you guys running? Is everyone experiencing the issue on Cm13?
Also try cleaning the camera connections really well.
I have same problem. Although i expirienced it first time on Lineage OS 14.1. Now 30B, but it still not working. I was listening to music through external speakers, and suddenly it stopped working. Music app was "playing" but i couldnt hear anything and when i exit the app my phone just stops working and starts being laggy as hell. Later that day i found out my camera is not working. I tried reattaching cam connector but it did not work...idk if i should order a new camera or it might be a software fix or something
same problem
happened to me after upgrading to 6.0 , downgraded back to 5 with no luck , even opened my phone and released and reconnected the 3 cables inside with no luck at all . don't know what to do
It's "good" to see other people with the same problem as me.
I replaced the camera and it still won't work.
I'm afraid that it might the problem with our motherboard...How can software block our camera even tho all of us fully reinstalled ROMs/Modems etc? It would be awesome if dev would see this and tell us what is the actual cause of this
If you reinstalled the entire OS using a TOT method, no files are left behind. This is more likely a hardware issue.
The Camera module is extremely close to the problematic hot chip on the G3 so it's not impossible something got messed up.
I have a d852 in Canada that doesn't get hot and I'm having this problem too. Going to order a new camera since I know this is a hardware issue. Hopefully fixed the issue. Not cool having no rear camera or flashlight
It's impossible Every G3 gets hot...you either are not heavy user or idk...but every G3 that i've held had the issue of overheating at some point...and indeed it can ruin everything...imagine 120C on your processor...that kills everything around it...idk if my processor got that hot as i've seen in some cases it did on internet, but it did go up to 90ish...and that is too damn hot
FIX ISSUE be Done

Front Facing Camera Dissapeared

Hey guys,
Yesterday I changed the speaker on my Zenfone because it was broken, and after that I realised that the switch for the front facing camera had dissapeared. I am using Lineage OS 14.1. If you have any suggestions on how I can fix this I would appreciate the help very much.
I think your front facing camera needs to be Replaced by the new one, i got this issue too several months ago, i think at first it was LOS Bug, but after i revert back to Stock Rom, its still disappeared, so i buy a new Front Camera part, then replace it and its working as good as new. You can search on youtube at how to disassemble your device, its quite easy if you have the right tool, if not you can always go to local phone service.
Hope it helps, sorry for bad english
