Delayed response on lock button press - Redmi Note 8 Questions & Answers

I have a Note 8 Global Version with MIUI 11. If my phone is locked and screen is off and I press the lock button or even scan my finger, it is taking approximately 4 to 5 seconds for the screen to be lit. A few information if it helps:
1. Let's say in lock screen the screen is supposed to be lit for 5 seconds. I press the lock button. Wait 3 seconds. Then the screen light turns on. But just after 2 seconds the screen turns off. It means the processor does read the button press immediately but somehow fails to turn the screen on immediately.
2. After the MIUI 11 update I was tinkering with the new options. And I found one old option actually - double tab lock button to start camera. I turned that on and checked how that works. That was the first time I noticed the delay of 3/4 seconds. So I thought it was related and disabled it. But still the issue persists.

Never happened to me. How much free RAM do you usually have free? Looks like the device is running slow in elaborating processes.
Do you notice other lags while normally using your phone during the day?

[Q] Screen not starting up for power button

Hi,
I started to get a weird problem since last week. I've had this phone for about 3 months now and never had any problem like this.
It all started one morning when I wanted to stop phone alarm. The alarm was going off but the screen was black. I pressed the power button to wake up, but it was still black. After couple of times pressing the power button the screen came up. First it was not that often but the situation started to get worse. It came to that I can sometimes cannot turn it on for a long period of time. I need to keep pressing power button, volume buttons and eventually it will come up.
This is what I've found so far:
1) When the power button is pressed, although the screen doesn't start up, I can see the three buttons at the bottom lighting up. So it is not a problem of the power button.
2) When the power button is pressed, although the screen doesn't power up, the screen seems responsive. I can feel the vibrations when I tap (I have a startup password)
3) When the phone is connected to a power supply, screen always starts up without a problem.
4) Screen will start up more frequently when the batter power is high.
It seems as though there is a connection between batters power and the screen not starting up. But then again, once the screen comes up (after not starting up), then it works fine, until I turn the screen off.
Has anybody experienced anything like this before?
I did a factory reset thinking it might be some application I installed but it didnt help.
I had to send this phone once to repair the speaker and cost more than $80 just for courier. I don't want to spend another to get this fixed.
Thanks.
I have this problem or a problem very close to this. I have a HTC One X (international version). I'm running the latest version and updates and the problem has existed for at least the last two updates.
Android Version 4.1.1
HTC Sense version 4+
Software number 3.18.401.1
I have the screen lock pattern turned on.
Sometimes when I hit the power button, the phone does not turn on and so I press it again and only after a third press does the phone turn on. I then unlock the phone and use as normal. So, several times per day I have to press the power button three times before the phone turns on. But other times I press the power button once and it turns on straight away. I've just turned the pattern unlock off to see if this makes any difference. I'll start to record the exact details of when I experience this and see if we can work out a common cause.
Hopefully if enough people report this problem then they can send out an update to fix this problem.

I'm pretty sure this is a hardware issue. I bought mine from Expansys and sent it back to them for repair. It's been more than a month and they say they're still reparing it.
In my case it was impossible for me to start the screen up with power button no matter how much I pressed it. The only thing that worked for me was to press the back of the phone just below the camera. So it seems like a hardware issue. But on the other hand, at times when I can't get the screen turned on no matter what I do, I'd turn the phone off and start again and the thing would start up like nothing happened. So while I'm pretty sure it is a HW issue, I'm not sure how a power restart makes it work.
For me I don't think that this is a hardware problem as it only started happening once I did the big upgrade from 4.0 to 4.1 and then it follows a specific pattern. That is three power button presses will always turn it on. Less frequently I also get a problem where the power button turns on the three lights on the soft buttons but the screen remains black. I then hit the power button to turn it off, and again to turn it on and the phone is back to normal again.
Is yours an international version? I bought mine an international version and had it shipped to Australia.
solved?
Hi - did anyone ever solve this? This is happening to me with my HTC desire X after having had the screen repaired, so I think it is hardware related, but the shop doesn't know how to fix it! My screen also does not turn back on when I want to end a phone call and pull the phone away from my face anymore. These problems seem related as they started at the same time. I would be grateful for help!

[Q] Power button lag, from screen off.

Just wondering if anyone else has been experiencing a lag for the screen to turn on from a booted phone with screen off. I'm on fw 4.4.2 nuts stipped version. It can take up 8 to ten seconds for the screen to turn on sometimes other times a couple of seconds, if so has anyone found a fix for this other than wait for 233. Ps it only happens when swipe or security enabled for lock screen. With option none all works ok

LG G4 screen turning itself on after timeout

This issue started about 3 or 4 days ago for the record. I have been trying to find a solution online but I have yet to come across a real solution (other than sending it in to LG for 9 days (completely unacceptable)). It happens whenever I turn the screen off, either through the lock button or the double tap. The screen will power off correctly and then turn itself back on within the next second. If i leave the screen to timeout at 15 sec like I have it set to, the phone will dim and then the screen will close, only for the screen to immediately turn itself right back on. This is killing my battery life and making my phone constantly overheat.
If someone has found a solution please share it with me, I am reaching my wits end

Annoyingly slow waking up after pressing unlock button - Brand new Samsung S9

Hello. I have got a brand new S9. I got a problem - when phone is locked (without using Always On Display), and i want to unlock it (so i press unlock button), after pressing the button i have to wait for some 1-2 seconds, before screen wake up totally (for this 1-2 seconds screen slowly brightens) What is wrong? Bixby is switched off, phone has got brand new and updated software, and i've installed just 4-5 app's. When AOD is turned on, screen woke at normal speed (quickly)
Some info about the phone (from settings menu)
Android: 8.0.0
Samsung Experience: 9.0
Wersja opr. dost. Usług (Don't know how to translate it..): SAOMC_SM_G960F_OXM-XEO_OO_002823382274a00d7ece XEO/XEO,XEH/XEH
EDIT: At the "Safe mode" screen woke up instantly right after pressing unlock button..
I have the same problem! The phone wakes up very long.
Make sure in LOCKSCREEN AND SECURITY / Secure lock settings, your phone is set to Lock Automatically "Immediately". This will immediately lock your phone when screen turned off and then you can immediately unlock it without delay.

Weird problem with screen/power button

Background -
I bought this OnePlus 5T with a smashed screen to fix.
Paid 70 bucks for it plus the screen is just shy of 150 in total.
I was able to replace the screen and frame which was a little more complicated than I anticipated, but it ended well and the phone seems fine, although the screen quality isn't as good as stock.
***Problem - it seems that for unknown reasons, after turning off the screen pressing using the power button, screen becomes black and won't turn on, not until i hold the power button for ten seconds and restart the phone the hard way. Then the phone turns on and starts working again, but if I turn the phone off with the power button then it won't turn on again. I can tell the phone is working behind the black screen, vibration working, notification light working. But Everytime I turn the phone off with the power button I have to hard reboot the phone to get it back on again. Once this starts happening I have to factory reset to get the power button functioning normally again. It will work normally for a day or two and then out of no where the issue comes back again after pressing the power button - screen won't turn on.
Could it be software? I know it might be natural to suspect the screen is faulty, but the screen works normally until I use the power button to turn it off, and then works normally again for a couple of days after a factory reset ...
Thoughts ?
