No 4k netflix support for 7t ??? - OnePlus 7T Questions & Answers

Hey guys just wanna know something
Does netflix app on 7t does not support 4k or not ?
I am asking cos yesterday i logged in with my account on netflix app on my dad’s oneplus 7t and went to settings and opened playback specifications
It said HDR = supported (good thing)
BUT MAXIMUM PLAYBACK RESOLUTION WAS JUST FULL HD (1080P)
It should be 4k or UHD but why max is just 1080p in settings ???

This is a 1080p panel. No possible way to get 4K out of it.

Usb C to hdmi adapter? Use device as media player?

Nothing guys?
This article says someone tested it, so I'd say yes.
http://techcrunch.com/2013/11/29/go...o-hurt-video-playback-performance-on-nexus-7/
Now that doesn't mean that all apps can do it, but the hardware, when using the proper app, is capable.
Are you looking the N7 to play the video at 60fps itself or are you mirroring the video onto a TV or other monitor of some sort?

1080p in Netflix?

Hi!
Anyone can stream at 1080p in Netflix? The maximum I am getting is 480p.
It can be tested searching for a video called "test patterns". While playing it, the resolution and frame rate appears in the top right corner (yellow text).
Netflix works:
Not certified device = 480p even if you have paid for 1080p
Certified device = maximum resolution you have subscribed
I think maybe the htc10 is not certified for 1080p video.
https://forum.xda-developers.com/android/apps-games/netflix-hd-ultrahd-ultrahd-dolby-5-1-l1-t3535349
Thanks!
So, the HT 10 is a L3 device, right? I mean, only can stream at 480p.
I've tested 1080p without problems.
With the official app or the one modified?
modified
Ok, so confirmed that the htc10 is a L3 device.
I am going to test the modified.

S9 and Netflix low resolution problem

I cant get Netflix app to play videos with higher resolution than 720p and 30 FPS. The S9 has hardware capability to show 1440p and 60FPS, but Netflix seems to limit this to low resolution.
Any fix for this?
I have tried it on out superfast Wi-Fi and superfast LTE, no difference.
You can check this with Netflix own "Test Pattern" videos. Actual FPS and Resolution is shown in upper right corner when you zoom out to original video size.

No root. Actually have the same problem on my Tab S4.
But we get full 4K and 60 FPS on our Samsung TV built in app, and also our Nvidia Shield TV.

I believe resolution is limited by your Netflix subscription, if you only paid for 720p then that's the max res you can watch with

App limitation apparently, this one might get you 1080p
https://www.apkmirror.com/apk/netflix-inc/netflix/netflix-5-3-1-build-19296-release/
all versions up to 5.3.1 operate at 1080p and a bitrate of 5800kbps which is the highest quality possible on smartphones.

I tested this method today, it works! So it is indeed app limitation NOT subscription. Tested it on my s9 and girfriends s9+, both worked. However, getting to 720p resolution on the newer versions is much faster than getting to 720p or 1080p on this older version. So maybe locking to 720p is the effect of some network and streaming optimizations.
Had to go older to get mine working

I tried 5.3.1 but it immediately prompted me to update to continue. So I used 4.12.2 and my content was watchable again. I’m on an S9 with Pie.

I don't think you're actually seeing true 4k. To watch true 4k you need a 4k screen.
You can't. You can put the resolution 4k with certain apps, but you won't actually be watching 4k. The screen is only capable of showing 1080p.
You need a 4k resolution screen for 4k video content... If what you say was possible manufacturers would always use the highest resolution.
Well no, it's not as simple as that. If you needed a 4k screen to view 4k content, then nobody would be viewing the photos they took on their phones
Still, it's mostly pointless. But if you want to try it, get youtube vanced, enable the device resolution check override and marvel at the sharpness of the video.
In YouTube Vanced you get the feature to disable the resolution check.
Just google it.

Netflix Streaming Capped to SD?

Just noticed this in Netflix app. It seems my S20 Ultra isn't capable of playing Netflix in 4k hdr and is capped to SD. Screenshot is from Netflix. Does anyone else have this issue too?
S20 ultra can only output 1440p. It wouldn't stream in 4k. That being said it should be doing 1440p or 1080 at the least.

FHD is 1080P, QHD is 1440, UHD is 4k
Your DRM is L3. Are you rooted ? If so, there is nothing you can do to go back widevine L1 as I know.
It might not be your phone. There were several reports back in March that Netflix (and other streaming services) would be temporarily capping their streaming quality to SD. Whether this is the case now I don't know for sure. I just offer it as a possible explanation.

I was about to say the same thing - it should say "VP9 (Secure)" and "AVC-High (Secure)" - the phone's security is likely flagging as unsecure and copy protection is locking the resolution to SD.
In other words, for some reason Knox is telling Netflix you messed with it.
Mine says Full HD
Whats weird is snowpiercer is available in HDR but Dark is supposed to be UHD but is only available in HD, i would have thought that it would be HDR at least.
I assuming HDR is higher than HD or am i wrong?

HDR = 4K + HDR
UHD = 4k + SDR
On Netflix anyway. Some of the times... They make it confusing. You can get uhd 4k with dolby vision which is also hdr but different to hdr10

My other issue is Did netflix reduce data/quality based on Our Wonderful Government here in Australia requesting restrictions. What may be available in higher resolution might be restricted.
https://amp.theguardian.com/media/2...an-to-reduce-data-to-avoid-broadband-overload
I would check but I'm rooted. My TV plays Netflix in the correct resolution so who knows
Netflix on my S20 Ultra on DBT, 96Hz & Full HD says the following:
Incidentally Stan is the same Breaking Bad is supposed to be 4KUHD however it is only available to me in HD
