Haven't tried, probably won't either. OxygenOS suits fine for me.
I've heard Omni ROM works great though, it's the ROM kernel section.

A working twrp would be a good thing also

https://github.com/phhusson/treble_experimentations/wiki/How-to-build-a-GSI?
Google is your friend, there probably bunch of other guides out there too.
This only build though, to add features and such you'll either need to cherry pick commits or code your own.

How do you know a kernel works with your current rom you have ... other than flashing and trying it out ... and how do you know what current kernel u have ? sry if this is a dumb questions

You read the description for the kernel before you download it. All the info will be there so you know it'll work

Still not fully understanding maybe if I tell you what Rom I am using that would help?

You might want to search to find out what a kernel does first

I have some what of an understanding after reading up on it ... I am just trying to understand how one works with a rom? or the correct one for a rom?
+1 on read the op and you should be fine.
You need to know if your ROM is ics/jellybean and if its aosp based or stock based.
Always make a backup before flashing something just to be safe.

I'm a little confused. Are you asking how it works, or what roms it will work with?

Head over to the development and original development sections to find some kernels. To know whether it is compatible with your phone and ROM, read the opening post thoroughly and do research. All of your questions are common and answers are out there when you search. Reading is the best thing you can do for yourself here on XDA.

Which rom are you using? There is a MIUI v5 rom by iHackers in the development thread, it has all those options like other MIUI v5 roms as you mentioned. A few CM based roms have those options too.

You have to repack for the dualboot
All roms have worked so far after repacking,
Check the posts to see if someone posted the roms you are looking for

It works with all kinds of roms even Ubuntu touch all you need to do is find repacked version of the Rom or repack it by yourself. Repacker is on the first page of dualboot thread. You can also ask sb to do it for you cause repacker only works under Linux. First of all you need to read because you can mess up your device if you don't know what you're doing.

I don't have linux either at the moment. I don't know if someone has already repacked this rom but you can search either in miui topic and dualboot one. You can also ask in those topics to repack it for you. Finally don't forget to hit "thanks" if I helped you.

To confirm, MIUI works fine on dual boot, I repacked one or two versions long time ago. In fact, afaik, all roms can work on bootmanager, repackaging is needed though.
I'd suggest that you ask if someone could repack you a recent version in BootManager thread, you will get more visibility than here. I don't have time these days to repack, but I'm sure someone will do it if you ask...
And if you have questions regarding bootmanager, don't hesitate to ask in the dev thread, it's easier to follow for me.

ExistenZ Ultra 1.0.0 as native
Hello,
I'd like to run the following system on my Xperia S:
native rom: ExistenZ Ultra 1.0.0 (thread here)
loop rom: letama's AOSP 4.3.1, for which he has already supplied the suitable .zip
As I'm running a linux 64bit box, I'd try to repack the ExistenZ myself, but I have some doubts this would work:
- Does the used kernel work within a native rom at all? I guess so, as it has been around now for some time.
- Would it work with the TX-Core Kernel 5.7? And how could this be done?
- In the 2nd post of the OP, there is given an instruction which includes flashing two images after each other with some fiddling in between - can this be packed as one flashable rom for the native partition at all?
And as this sounds rather tricky to me after all (never repacked a rom so far): Would anyone be willing to pack it for me?
Any hints on how and what to repack with the script would of course also be appreciated - Thanks in advance!
