Debranding Samsung Galaxy S20 5G (SM-G981B) phone

Hi All,
I have read that to debrand a Samsung Galaxy S20 phone (mine is SM-G981B) you can't just do a straight flash with Odin using debranded firmware and that you instead need to first change the CSC using SamKey. However my issue is that the CSC for the carrier my phone is currently on (United Kingdom EE) seems to be the same as debranded firmware (United Kingdom BTU). You can see here: sammobile.com/samsung/galaxy-s20/firmware/SM-G981B/BTU they both have the same CSC (G981BOXM1ATCT).
I also came across this guide: samsungsfour.com/tutorials/how-to-install-stock-rom-on-galaxy-s20-s20-plus-s20-ultra-s20-5g.html for debranding, however without any other sources to back it up, I am a bit reluctant to try it out in case it causes any issues.
Any help with this would be greatly appreciated thanks.

Mate, all you need to do is change the csc to BTU in order to debrand. EVR and BTU csc are part of the same multi csc, however change your csc to BTU if you do not want any carrier bloatware or boot image etc.
So the only way to debrand is to use samkey? There is not a free/not payed alternative?

Denzel09, you can buy a single SamKey credit on eBay for £2.25 just to let you know. Search for SamKey, sort by cheapest and set "Item Location" to Worldwide.

Recommended Firmware for Unbranding a Samsung Galaxy S20+ (SM-G985F)

Hello community!
I recently bought a Samsung Galaxy S20+ (SM-G985F) which is carrier branded and sim locked. I am looking to remove the carrier branding by using a unbranded firmware. I am trying to find an unbranded firmware that will not affect the functionalities of the phone ( VoLTE, VoWiFi etc..) . Would this be done by finding a firmware with same PDA but different CSC?
Current Branded Firmware:
Version G985FXXU3ATG4 / G985FOWA3ATG4 / G985FXXU3ATG4
Product Code: PGU
Would this firmware work?
Product code LUX
PDA G985FXXU3ATG4
CSC G985FOXM3ATG9
Thanks in advance for your help!
@servenaya
if you have a sim card of Guatemala and you want to keep VoLTE, VoWiFi etc.. for this country
install Version PDA G985FXXU3ATG4-CSC G985FOXM3ATG9
and change your CSC to GTO ( with préconfiguration for TIGO_CGU , PCW_PA and Claro_DR )
LUX have only préconfiguration for Luxemburg ( Proximus , POST , Tango , Telenet , Orange B and LUX )
regards

@yakapa40, thank you! This information is very helpful. I do have a Claro Guatemalan sim and even though the carrier does not support VoLTE, or VoWifi, I would like to keep this features in case they implement them in the future. I did find a firmware with the recommended PDA and CSC (Country South East Europe, Product code: SEE, PDA: G985FXXU3ATG4, CSS: G985FOXM3ATG9). Would this firmware work? From what understand, I would have to first flash this firmware, then change de CSC with Samkey to GTO and lastly, factory restore the phone. Is this correct?
Also, would you recommend using Samkey to perform a carrier unlock before changing the CSC or could I do it later on? I read that Samkey only works for phones that dont ask for unlock code. Mine does ask for a code when I insert another carrier's sim.
Thanks in advance for your help!

@yakapa40 Thank you for your help. You are extremely knowledgeable on this topic! To be honest, I just realize how little I know about flashing even though I've been doing it since 2012. I feel like I understand firmware flashing less than I did before.
I just have a last question. If I flash the firmware with a CSC NEE, and than do the CSC change to GTO, which CSC will be used for future OTA updates? What I mean is, if there is a new NEE firmware will I get it, or will I have to wait for a new GTO update? Sorry, I am little confused with all of this.
G985F OXM is a multi CSC so if you flash the firmware with a CSC NEE , you will get XEF CSC by default
, and when you change to GTO you will get GTO OTA updates

@yakapa40, I was finally able to flash the phone. I followed the steps and got the GTO CSC and the unbranded firmware working! Thank you for helping me throughout the whole process. The only down side was that I still lost the VoLTE and VoWifi options. When I look at the Sim Card Status menu, the IMS registration Status is "not registered". :crying:

Question CallRecorder for SM-G990B (Snap)

Hei. I own SM-G990B which is snapdragon (european one). I see in Izrael and Asian countrys where call recorder is included in dialer we can find SM-G990E. Is anyway to use two ways recording without root on SM-G990B?
Btw: still we can flash samsung by Odin without triggering knox and loosing wartanty?
Any csc available with g990b with call recording ? SER - Russia is without it ? Others g990b csc are Europe countries without 4 sure. I was hoping for samkey, but no obvious "working" csc like ins or thl is available. Call recording is essential, not to abuse but to use...
Two additional csc from asia, Georgia CAU and Kazachstan SKZ
How to check whether call recording is available with those csc ?
Well I found this list of countries where call recording is available and allowed. Not sure about availability in Samsung FW...

I can confirm that on my old phone (Galaxy S9), worked like a charm
if I remember correctly, with latest androids it is no longer possible
I confirme that SEK and SER via Odin do not give U call recording option
Only SEK with samkey. SER doesn't have native CR.
I can confirm that SamKey after changing region csc to SEK and flash SEK firmware I have Native CallRecording. So yeap. SamKey method works

With S21 FE (SM-G990B) at the moment it is not possible to change CSC to SEK ... how did you do it? what model do you have of S21 FE?
What do you mean by not possible ? Samkey is not supporting February patch ?
I have G990B without any problems changed via Samkey
Mine is not upgraded to SEK and SAMKEY tells me it can't currently ... my EUX source CSC. From EUX it is not possible ... it always gives me an error even if just restored as factory.
since v4.27.7 G990B is supported. Try downgrade to version G990BXXU1BUL5

...Nothing to do .. CSC does not change ... I'm downloading the first version: G990BXXU1BUK5 and then I refer.
Nothing ... not even with the first firmware version !!! Maybe yours is a particular model (northern Europe area or similar) ... my ITALY
Can anyone else try and then indicate which model exactly it has?

Question Install CSC file from different model firmware

Hi All,
I have a Samsung Z fold 4 ‐ SM-F936N model (Korea version). I want to use it in India. Can I flash BL, AP and CP from SM-F936N firmware and CSC and Home CSC from SM-F936B (india compatible version)'s firmware (CSC as OXM, and Home CSC as INS)?
Want to do this primarily for Samsung Pay and removing Korean telecom files which came installed by default.
Also, assuming it is possible, will it impact OTA update?

Flashing firmware does not change csc u have to use something like samkey or samfw csc changer
Can you use 5G in India I have the same model and I can’t I want to use 5G
I successfully flashed my fold4 from US Verizon to US AT&T but video call doesn't work. Flashing from completely different region models might be more problematic.
