Problems installing stock rom on Redmi Note 8 Global - Redmi Note 8 Questions & Answers

If I try to flash oficial stock rom V11.0.3.0.PCOMIXM (MIUI11) (downloaded from c.mi. com)
Mi PC Suite simply says it's not compatible device.
AOI Tools asks for patch_all.bat file that i can't find.
Using TWRP flashs the rom, but fails on booting.
What else can i do?
Thanks in advance.

Solved
If you face something similar, try this: Seems like the rom is different, i downloaded other rom for fastboot, also, patch_all.bat didn't work, i should use 'except storage' option using the official MiFlash.

Flashed without a unlocked bootloader

I accidentally flashed a custom rom after i thought I'd unlocked my bootloader, the bootloader was not unlocked and now I'm in a error loop, Help? or advice? I'm very new to this stuff
If you can get to bootloader, from off hold power and up volume key until ASUS logo appears, you can try to use fastboot to install an image file, get it from the pre-rooted roms thread in original android developement.
Hopefully this will fix. If you want to try a stock rom from ASUS then you still need to go to this mode, go to recovery and, if youget a n android with error underneath, hold the same buttons as above. This will allow you to either flash using ADB or you can put the downloaded zip folder on your fat32 formatted sd card, named MOFD-SDUPDATE.zip, and do a recovery stock flash by picking the update file.
Good luck...
Still no success.
My problems started when I couldn't flash xposed framework onto my rooted zenfone 2 (ze551ml). I tried different versions for intel devices from one of the links i got here. Then i tried to do it via magisk installation. I was using twrp 2.8.7.0 to flash the roms. After attempting to install magisk v7, my device couldn't boot. Have tried installing stock rom from the asus website via abd sideload and by flashing it after renaming it mofd_sdupdate.zip. The processes seeem to work fine and "complete" or "finished" messages pop up. But when i try to reboot it stops at bootloader screen or just goes directly to twrp.
Can someone help.

1. Magisk on stock ROMs may require some modifications in order to work or booting correctly.
2. You may want to flash RAW firmware...

Thanks, I was able to flash the RAW firmware and now my phone works again. Had to install Intel soc drivers xfstk downloader and Asus flash tool. Quite a tideous process but worth it at the end.

Flash SM-T311 ROM

Hi there,
Nice to meet you guys.
Please I'm new here, been looking for where to post this thread.
Please I got an sm-t311 running on android jelly beans, which I wanted to flash with a 6.0 ROM. But I have tried to no avail. I download the resurrection ROM, but when I try to install through recovery mode from via SD card, I get "error installation aborted invalid OTA missing scatter" the phone can't go to download mode, but can go to recovery mode. When try to enter download mode, I get a menu with chinese . I rooted it well, but tried other zip files from recovery mode, I get same error message. I install mobile uncle tools apk, but when I go through the app to try and install any zip file, nothing worked. Sometimes when I click on bootloader from inside mobile uncle tools app, it says no bootloader installed on phone. Please really, really need some help. When I power on the tablet, I get an animation "TUKKER" its having multiple language. I tried using fast boot command from PC, it can't work or its because I don't know what to command. But PC always identify device as SM-T311. PLEASE HELP!!!! but phone is working normal but I need to run android 6.0.

Jelly Bean? I believe Kitkat must be installed for you to update to lollipop or marshmallow. I also own an sm-t311 (3g version).
I also had trouble installing custom roms on it, but after some minor changes inside the installation files, any rom can be installed.
So first thing is, backup your stuff, backup EFS folder too if you can, and then proceed to update your tablet to latest official Kitkat.
I would flash it with Odin software, but since you say you cannot enter download mode, i would try to update it with the
samsung software Kies3 , if that does not work, Smartswitch. These last ones will even put the phone in a "special" download mode for you.
If that does not work i would try to download latest kitkat manually (http://www.sammobile.com/firmwares/database/SM-T311/ check latest version for your country/carrier )
After you manage to install the stock latest Kitkat rom, in order to upgrade it to android 5 or 6 , you will need to install a "custom recovery" like TWRP etc. Did you do that ? you cannot install custom roms via "stock recovery", you must first have a custom recovery installed and afterwards you will be able to update (the stock kitkat) into any custom : Cyanogenmod, RessurectionRemix, Nolekat, Bliss, OMNi etc
Since i own the same device, feel free to contact me in case you need help, we can chat via Hangouts/Skype/Whatsapp and we can do it together step-by-step.

How to completely get back to stock?

Hi,
i have a Mi Max 32GB and flashed TWRP without unlocking (with the method here http://forum.xda-developers.com/mi-max/how-to/guide-install-global-miui8-root-t3435594) and installed MIUI 8 rooted.
Now i have to send it back for repair and i want to get back to stock (at least miui 8 unrooted with original recovery).
Can you help me how to do it?
I would try to flash unrooted miui 8 and the stock recovery with Mi Beta Flasher after it but where can i get the stock recovery?
Thanks

I think if you use MiFlash it will flash back everything including the stock recovery.
Will this work even if the phone is NOT unlocked? Where can i get the correct image? Which one do i need? And can i flash MIUI 7 too?
Yea... that was a great idea... i think it is bricked now
Started MiFlash Beta (which worked perfectly to install twrp a couple of weeks ago). Now i flashed the hydrogen_global_images_V8.0.2.0.MBCMIDG_20150805.0000.29_6.0._global_faa8bcca0e Fastboot ROM and after 94 seconds there was an error -translated - "For this command is not enough memory available.(0x800700008: Max buffer sector is 256)". After trying again i only get "critical error (0x8000ffff: Receiving hello packet). Also flashing twrp again does not work. If you see the Mi logo then you aren't bricked. Try flashing it again. If it doesn't work then try the Chinese version of the fastboot rom to get to stock then give the global rom a try again.

Just tried it and got exactly the same error
I could manage to reboot and go to miflashmode again and flash TWRP again. When i now install a MIUI 8 Global ROM it won't start but a MIUI 7 ROM booted. Unfortunately without any radio functions and with crashes. I think the radio partition is broken.

I can make you a flashable zip with the radios that you need that you can flash in TWRP. Try flashing the regular stock rom in TWRP.
This is all really crazy
After flashing a MIUI 8 Global ROM in TWRP the phone doesn't boot. After then installing an older MIUI 7 than before everything worked including radios. At the moment i'm trying to restore a MIUI 8 Backup which worked and delete data and cache to be kind of stock.
But nevertheless - how to flash stock recovery when i'm finished? I tried to flash via fastboot but this is not allowed due to the locked bootloader.

Mi max 32gb global developer rom for fastboot installation.
Backup every data from phone to external memory or PC before flashing wia fastboot
Install mi max drivers on your PC
Install mi flasher tool
Start mi flasher tool
Switch off phone
While holding vol- and vol+ buttons connect phone to PC via your usb cable.
Phone should vibrate, but screen should be black.
On mi flasher tool click refresh, you should seem some COM port for example COM 4
Then select unzipped fastboot folder
Then select flash and wait.
You shoud have brand new phone with everything working.
There is a thread in mi max section of xda forum with step by step guide to do this, what I'm explaining you now.
Be careful, your internal memory will be formatted.
If you already know all this stuff, then sorry, i have no other ideas to help you.
P. S. Are you flashing correct version for your phone?
Mine is 32/3 gb global mi max aka Hydrogen.
Thanks to all
The problem has been solved and the problem from Root file
Sorry to open a closed and also looks like solved thread but I had the same problem when i went mad and wiped EVERYTHING from my phone before i flashed https://forum.xda-developers.com/mi-max/development/rom-resurrection-remix-t3654033 final.
I also had NO wifi or any radios what so ever after the flash but then i had a brain fart and decided to try and flash JUST the firmware update from the op and everything worked fine for me from there.
Wonder if this will help your initial problem as this has nothing to do with the flavour of the ROM it's just firmware drivers....
Be interested to know if this works....

Os deleted while trying to install a cutom ROM on A2 lite, I'm stuck and I need help.

Hello everyone !
I have a xiaomi Mi A2 lite for few days, based on Pie 9.0. I decided to install a custom rom on it (resurrection or lineage OS16) so I unlocked the bootloader, rooted properly the phone, and then tryed to use TWRP to install a new ROM.
Unfortunatly, I never succeeded to do so: each time I tried, the installation failed, showing an "error 1".
Trying to fix this issue, I unfortunatly deleted the OS of my phone, and still can't install a new ROM. I tried to flash a stock ROM from xiaomi site, following this thread: https://forum.xda-developers.com/mi-a2-lite/help/os-image-please-help-t3885625/page3 , but Mi flash tool doesn't work well on my computer (it's still showing an "unhandled exception" error, whatever I'm trying to do.
Here we are, I've got two problems and I don't really know what to do, despite my searching on the web. My phone is now unusable (I can access to the TWRP recovery, can use fastboot, but that's all..)
Do you have any advice to clean up all the mess I did ?
Thank you a lot for your time !
Download the stock rom (preferably 10.0.3.0) extract it along with adb and fastboot into the same folder, install the drivers, boot into fastboot, connect it to PC and run flash_all.bat and you should be back onto stock rom! If you want to install a custom rom follow this: github. com/tkchn/daisyinstall/blob/master/README.md

Are you sure that you followed the procedure to install a custom rom? Can you tell which steps did you do? And about the error of MiFlash you can try with other version so there are many versions uploaded that don´t match well.
If you can't use the fastboot u need to force EDL Mode.. The best and simple way to install the ROM stock is using MI Flash Tool, u can find a tutorial in here or in YouTube it's easy if you follow all the steps! Good Luck

The first problem with TWRP Error code :1 - the problem is with twrp itself- install a different version ,i am using 3.3.1-0 by offain ,i've had this error on allmost every twrp besides the offain versions and dees_troy.
The second problem : with the deleted os : you have 2 options :
1. Download the latest MiFlash from the official site and install it ,on the top left of the screen, you can see Drivers button ,click on install. Then navigate to stock rom folder ,go in fastboot mode on your device and connect to PC ,hit refresh ,then flash.
2. If this doesn't help ,custom rom is an option ,there are 2 links
https://daisyfiles.pp.ua/Firmwares/MIUI/ - from here download miui version Golden Master 1.1
https://forum.xda-developers.com/mi...ol-one-driversunlocktwrpfactory-t3866191/amp/ - download this all in one tool, you can lock ,relock ,install twrp recovery ,custom roms ,it is perfect!
For the installation - put the rom on sd card ,install twrp version that doesnt give Error 1 code ,then format data,system,cache,dalvik/art ,internal storage.
And the last thing - install the ROM zip and try MIUI 10.5 This is the best temporary solution, until you set MiFlash the right way ,or on another PC
Hello !
First of all, thank you very much for your quick and complete answer
I finally succedeed to flash a stock ROM on the phone, using Mi flash tool, so I'm back on track ! About the "unhandled exception" error, i've just fixed it by creating a "log folder" in the MI flash tool folder, it's good to know, maybe It will help someone else one day ^^
When I tried to install a custom ROM last time, I used the 3.3.1 version of TWRP. Because it didn't work (error 1), I used the 3.3.0 one and I had the same exact error code. Do you think I should try older versions one by one ?
I'm going to unlock it and root it right now,
Thank you again,
Arnaud
PS: Oh, last thing, when TWRP recovery will be properly installed on my phone, shall I root it by using magisk ?

Updating my situation:
So I successfully installed TWRP 3.3.3-0 on the phone and did a huge backup to avoid deleting my OS again.
Now I'm confused about what to do: I did understand that I need to root my phone (using magisk) BEFORE trying to install a custom ROM, but I'm really not sure about it, should I ?
I tried, and it still doesn't work (error1), I noticed that error 1 shows some interresting details:
"error installing zip file '/sdcard/TWRP/RR-P-v7.0.2-20190907-daisy-Official.zip' "
The point is I do not have any sd card in my phone (for the moment), is it possible that it can't install the ROM because TWRP is trying to install the ROM on an non-existing storage ? I will try to get an sdcard somewhere to check how it behave.
Thank you again,

Nope ,as i said ,error code is with the version of twrp ,i am using TWRP 3.3.3-1 dees_troy ,i've had the same problem as yours ,i was trying to flash from internal memory ,tried flash from sd card, the problem was the same.So i have tried 3 or 4 different versions ,3.3.3-0 (2 different versions ) gave me error 7 ,another 3.3.3-0 destroyed my system image ,3.2.3-0 don't show my sd card in twrp .So download TWRP 3.3.3-1by dees_troy ,i am using it right now ,but i am using the all in one tool ,that i have mentioned in my previous post - no errors ,no mistakes
Okay, I will try the TWRP 3.2.3 then, this is the only one I didn't try
What about magisk ?

The first link did take me to any place and the second is for other completely different device, I don´t know why following a procedure for a device with a different scheme partition.
It could be that previously you must have a determined firmware as base before to flash any custom rom, in this case you have to flash it using MiFlash tool checking on "clean all" option (preferably)
The moves basically are these:
1.- Boot to twrp-daisy-3.3.1-0-offain.img using fastboot (just boot to, don´t flash it)
2.- Wipe system, dalvik/cache, data from the previous.
3.- In the case is indicated by developer Format data.
4.- Flash the desired rom.
5.- Flash the twrp-daisy-3.3.1-0-offain installer zip (it´s not the same that the boot image) you can use adb sideload or previously move the file to your external SDCard or then to format data transfer the file to your internal SDCard.
6.- Go to the main menu on TWRP and in reboot options change to the other slot from A to B and viceversa, then to switch reboot again to recovery.
7.- Now flash the Disable-Force-Encryption.
8.- In the case (most likely you want) Flash the GApps and flash Magisk at last, then reboot normally.
The links for TWRP are these:
