Good Lock on country restrictions? - Samsung Galaxy Note 10+ Questions & Answers

Hi.
Is there any way to pass over the country restrictions to install and use Good Lock? I got the N975F and cannot install it from the Samsung App Store because of that.
Thanks!

This has been discussed at lenght, you can download "nice lock" and "nice lock downloader companion"
Search for it here in XDA

Nicelock has problem with Quickstar modules where disabling battery icon works but upon reboot, it will appear again. Have to manually go into nicelook -> Quickstar to disable again. Annoying. That's why I went back to goodlock using vpn tricks.

Fine Lock PRO is a waaaay better Good Lock alternative. It links you to APK Mirror, notifies about updates and even gives some really good advice, advice I'm copy-pasting here:

To activate/deactivate NotiStar, and keep QuickStar changes after reboot, you need Good Lock installed. You can grab it from here. After installing it, you can hide Good Lock icon from the launcher. I don't know what happens behind the scene but it needs to be that way. Otherwise, it won't work.

Thanks to everybody for not replying, I as able to find the issue. for those with the same problem, it is the xposed app for multi window that breaks up S Health, after uninstalling it, S Health went back to normal.

It's not even just that, I have another app from the market that does the sand thing and if I try to open the health app it seems to crash the lock screen and launcher, as it makes the phone go into sleep and the pattern buttons disappear.
Thanks

No kidding huh. I am glad you came back and posted your solution. I am going to try uninstalling xposed now. thanks.
Multiwindow and S Health two best apps! Nice to have both working
The multiwindow functionality ....and then also S Health (for purposes of a good pedometer) are two functions on any phone I've ever owned. Somebody please figure out a fix! Using a widget for S Health appears to work.

Any widgets to toggle hotspot which actually work?!?

I'd love a widget which enabled me to toggle my hotspot on and off, but haven't found one that works with the AT&T variant for some reason. I've tried most of them off the Play store and when pressed they don't do anything. Has anyone found one that works?
My suggestion isn't a widget but a way to enable the hotspot toggle in the dropdown menu. Download an app called QuickPanel Manager from the Play Store. It's not free, but well worth the couple bucks. It enables toggles in the dropdown menu that have been disabled by the carriers. One little thing about the app, though (at least this is how it is on my phone)... after you get the settings they way you want, uninstall the app or the dropdown menu will revert back to original when the phone is rebooted. no idea why that happens. Hope this helps.

Thank you, I'll give it a try. I've tried other apps which integrated into the dropdown menu and none of them worked, so I'm crossing my fingers this one does!
Edit: Before I purchase this, are you running Marshmallow? A couple of the reviews note this isn't working on MM, but they don't specify what phone they have.

I'm not running MM yet. I've been silently following all the feeds looking at results. I'm a little reluctant at this point just because I don't want to do it, then realize it might affect future updates. I'm on the verge of doing it though because it seems like things are going well. Trying to be patient.

I ran out of patience, lol. I put the MM floating around here on and it runs flawlessly. It's an official update from AT&T which is from a few days ago and doesn't trip Knox. I have a feeling it will integrate with updates with no issue, but that's just a guess.
I did try Quickpanel, it doesn't work with MM. It just crashes when you open it up.

Just gave it a go, and the app seems to make it though Step 1/3 but it gets stuck on Step 2 so I'm assuming it doesn't work.
Edit: It removed the ads from showing up using Macrodroid. However there is a consistent Macrodroid notification.

I did this a week ago, it's been working well. Macrodroid had an option to disable their logo too. Go into Macrodroid, settings, Notification Bar options, Force Hide Icon.

The problem with that is that it shows full screen ads without the notification there and you can't clear those.. So I have to keep the Macrodroid notification consistent

Oh ya, you're correct. I forgot about that because I've had my Weather app always have a notification on the lock screen.
Update: When messing around the Macros I found a way that you can hide the persistent Macrodroid notification along with Amazon Ads.
Videohttps://www.youtube.com/watch?v=HCUhxGFJ8g0
So basically I added another 'Clear Notification' to MacroDroid in Macro 1,
and in Macro 2, I checked the override Macro creation box.
After that I went to MacroDroid Notification settings and checked to Force Hide the notification.
So basically now when I turn off the phone screen, I wait a few seconds and if I peek at the current running notifications using the Moto "Glance screen", you will see the MacroDroid notification, but as soon as I power on the screen, the MacroDroid notification as well as the Amazon AD dissapears and I am left with my background.
Anyone can explain why do I have such a lag after switching the phone on? Seems like it leaves some locking screen/widget/program (you can see that it shows time if you scroll down notification bar) and disappears only in several settings
Anyone tried of these methods to boot into recovery without unlocking bootloader? like fastboot boot recovery.img?
Alternative solutions?

I used Tasker with Notification Listener and achieved the same result. Sometimes, there is a lag so the ad may appear but it's gone before unlocking. Also, the persistent notification from Tasker removes the need to create a fake notification to prevent full-screen ads.
On a related note, has anyone tried using ADB commands to disable/remove the Amazon Offers app? I want to try it but don't know the necessary commands.

1. Can you share your details of how you set your Tasker to remove ads? I use Macrodorid but as i stated earlier sometimes it takes seconds to unlock that is totally inconvenient
2. do you mean this?
Code:
adb shell pm hide com.amazon.phoenix
Unfortunately this does not work ((
Code:
Error: java.lang.SecurityException: Neither user 2000 nor current process has android.permission.MANAGE_USERS.
but of course you can try it yourself...
BTW, there is one more solution for removing ads. If anyone can check - that would be good

1) To get Tasker to work correctly, I downloaded Notification Listener from here. Once both are installed, in Tasker under the Profile tab, I created an event that gets triggered when the display is on. The task that gets linked to this profile will launch the Notification Listener plugin. Then, I configured the listener to clear notifications based on the app name Amazon Offers (case sensitive).
2) Thanks for trying. It looks like we can't run this command without root.

1. Have you tried Macrodroid? Just wonder about comparison between Tasker and Macrodroid
2. Well if we have root, we would just delete Amazon Offers from the phone and that's it. This adb solution was meant to hide even without root, and id did work for G4 phones. Initially But then it seems to me they have closed this possibility with some update. And also for G5 phones from the very beginning
When I was thinking about possible solutions one idea came to my mind. What if we try to flash Amazon phones with stock Moto G5 firmware? Will it give any error (because of locked bootloader and probably different hashes of the Amazon and Stock Moto firmwares)? Any thoughts?

I mean if u go to best buy and show them the prime deal they'll match it. I just did it 2 days ago. I'd post the photo of receipt as proof, but XDA won't let me attach it. Then you'll have then ad free version for $239

We do not have such shops in my country
Best buy didn't let me price match the Amazon ad variant because they said that variant isn't eligible compared with their variant. And using NotiEDA combined with Macrodroid seemed to go the trick.
Sooooo theres a permanent way to get rid of them and not have to use an app for it. I just found it on the Moto G subreddit.
I literally just did it. It DID get rid of all the amazon ads, which is less running in the background too!!
I'm using the 64gb Moto G5 plus amazon variant. It also gets rid of the need for a second finger print for the lock screen. You don't need to do it twice to get to the home screen anymore, just once like a non ad version!!!!
It's the top post in the subreddit right now. I can't link it, some bot won't let me
EDIT: I will put the instructions
Moderator Edit:
The solution has already been covered here:
https://forum.xda-developers.com/moto-g4/how-to/to-remove-amazon-ads-moto-g4-running-t3614090
Edit2: the above is the one who found it but the one who posted it to the subreddit that this forum wouldn't let me link to are one in the same. I did mention the thread so sorry if anyone thinks I didn't give proper credit.
YOU MADE MY DAY!!!! AWESOME! THANK YOU VERY MUCH!
I confirm that this operation removed my ads also
I think this should be pinned to OP somehow!

[APP] All in One Gestures

Really a great gestures app to mimic iOS gestures. I use the navigation gestures option because I could not deal with the navigation bar not matching my keyboard. The gestures work pretty well and I got used to them, but I did not like the Back option. Too many times trying to go back ended up with me opening recents or going home.
I really wanted a gesture to swipe the screen from left to right to go back and this app allows me to. Works great with a few customization options. It was removed from the playstore but the apk can still be sideloaded
https://www.apkmirror.com/apk/ys-liang/all-in-one-gestures-2/all-in-one-gestures-2-5-9-release/
Thanks for sharing. IMHO The OnePlus gestures are the best I've tried on any phone. The more options there are, the better off we are.
Thanks for sharing, I love the Swype from the left to go back feature
Hey Guys, if you wan't, you can also try an app called 'Fooview', which is available in playstore (No need Root access) and its amazing, you can set the swipe option from right to left for back in this app as well. it also comes with a browser, file manager, and allow to take screen short of any specified portion on your screen. It will also help to convert the 'letters' in an image to edit/copy. The main advantage is it work with very less battery drain and comes with small in size. this is one of the best app I have ever used. and I'm using this for the last 2 Years. Just try it, it is amazing.

I found both of these apps to be scetchy and not any good.
I rather sugest the app called Fluid Navigation Gesture on play store.
It gives you the Miui10 Navigations that work great without any overlay or stuff like that.

There are many apps which get through the checks. Check the news, you'll find many articles about google removing app from the play store every now and then.
Even a seemingly trustworthy app can do a lot of harm. Even if the app is a bit sketchy its better to stay away from it.

I find the navbar gestures severely lacking. Swipe from left or right edge up for back? On which planet? Ever tried this swipe on Chrome with a longish text loaded? All you get is a scroll back and not back. Or maybe I am misunderstanding the directions. How difficult is it to add a graphic to illustrate?

Directly Install Good Lock & Galaxy Labs Apps (and all their modules) from Galaxy Store

The safest way to install good lock and galaxy labs apps and its modules is thru the Galaxy Store. But it's officially available to India and USA users only. Here's the workaround if you are from other places:
1. Eject your sim tray.
2. Install a VPN app and connect to a US location.
3. Perform clear data on galaxy store app.
4. Open galaxy store app and you can already search the Good Lock and Galaxy Labs apps. You can now install them and the modules inside them.
5. You can now reinsert sim tray and disconnect vpn.
You can watch this video if you want a visual guide/demo:
Not hard at all. You need to install the core app, Good Lock first before anything else in that family.

Good Lock is checks for updates at least once a day.
Probably how you're getting flagged.
However if you Firewall block it at least on my device it continues to run regardless.
Try that.
I use Karma Firewall, freeware with no ads and extremely low battery usage.
