P3XL Suffering from lots of random apps closing/freezing,etc. Any ROM that will help? - Google Pixel 3 XL Questions & Answers

I have a P3XL that's roughly 1 year old. It's seriously slow and laggy and stutters like none other. If i'm in Chrome and browsing reddit, it can crash from having a long page of images open. Using simultaneous apps like Spotify and Instagram kills the phone. I was using flashlight and making a call at the same time and it crashed.
I originally used stock, that was the same. Switched to Havoc OS and it's pretty much the same. I can only guess this is from poor RAM management. Battery life is crap now too. Doesn't last me till 6:00PM on a low usage day.
Any ROM suggestions? Or is there something here i'm missing? 4GB should be enough... the P2XL was absolutely fine but this is atrocious. I frequently want to toss this device across the room.

You may have a bad battery which is causing voltage/amperage problems and glitching. If you've already done a fresh clean install of the factory OS and still have issues that'd be my next guess.
Did you regularly run it below 20% or until dead?

Yeah I gotta say that sounds a battery issue or something else going on. I've been running stock Android 9 rooted with Kira kernel for about half a year now and although there is still a lot of reloading (especially when using chrome or internet browsers with lot of tabs open) it's still snappy and reloads quick. I've never had anything crash.
Unfortunately I have no clue how to test a battery for proper amperage. I know 2 ways to get an estimate on capacity with accubattery and extracting it from a bug report but I don't know if that will help with identify it or not.
It sounds almost identical to the same issue I had with my LG V20 which was a bad battery that would randomly shut down with around 15-25% capacity left when it got that low and when I changed the battery it fixed it

I guess it could be a bad battery causing voltage issues. I have done a fresh clean install of factory OS, and still have issues. I would say i'm average when it comes to running it below 20%. I don't do that often, but sometimes it does. I rarely let it die completely.
Best scenario would be to go through Google Support?

Yeah, mine is crashing hard. Hard enough that it's one of the poorest performance phones i've ever had. And that's saying a lot lol.
I'll try to use accubattery today to see what I get. It doesn't shut down at 15% thankfully.

My V20 wouldn't always die at those ranges but it happened pretty frequently. Do you notice a difference with it plugged in?
I would definitely start from scratch if you really want to troubleshoot this. Backup everything then flash a stock system image from Google with the wipe all command and start from there and see. If it still does it then it is most likely a hardware issue.

Sounds more like a cache problem to me.....dodgy nand chip. Needs to be replaced no matter whats causing it. If you cant get rid of it after trying everything including swapping the active boot slot from a to be or vise versa

big mistake updating to 2.2

ever since I updated to 2.2, no matter what rom I'm using..performance has been so poor compared to 2.1. I wish I never updated. My battery runs out quick, temperature goes up to 100F even when idle and my phone hangs every time I turn on wifi. Hopefully I find out a solution soon, i've been flashing and uninstalling roms all day these past two days. I love the phone though don't get me wrong =\
That sounds quite odd.
Are you using an unmodified SBF, or are you using a release where the author/publisher has made a lot of changes? When having problems, it may be best to stick to one release and try to narrow down your problems, instead of trying many different releases and introducing new variables into the mix.
Are you overclocking your phone - perhaps it's causing the rise in temperature? Or are you running a lot of widgets? There may be some widgets that use the system too aggressively, causing too much strain/heat.
Hi! Did you do "wipe" before and after flashing?
That is very odd. I am on Froyo and performance has been phenomenal ever since the flash.
I agree with naenee, check the ROM you're flashing...
i flashed the UK 3.4.2-117 and right now using Pay's 2.1 rom. I remember that I did wipe data/cache before flashing and after flashing. IDK, im just not having problem's with this particular rom..it seems like it happens on all the other ones im trying. I get random freezes and especially when I toggle on wifi. I recently installed setVEL and will see if battery improves, this means i don't need milestone right? I'm also using setCPU.
I might try to flash 3.4.2_131-003 PL version. Will it cause any trouble and can I go back down to UK 3.4.2-117?
Seeing as it uses the same kernel, you should be able to do so...

I have been using the orange 2.2 for several days and no specific problem is noted.
well I reinstalled pays rom first and everything is working good. No more hang ups or freezes but I still can't get the battery to last as long.My phone is mostly idled, running on 2G, just one widget, and everything in settings turned down to the least minimal settings..im talking about battery saver, screen brightness all the way down..everything off! 6 hours in and im already on 70%. I can live with that but I'm using setVsel and I know it could do better. Anyone know another way I can make my battery last longer?
I'm running Pays latest rom based on the UK 3.4.2 and it runs great. I'm also using setvsel (as every defy user should) and optimized all my vsels ([email protected], [email protected], [email protected]) using stability test. I haven't had a 'normal' day of use yet, but with heavy use (installing apps, web browsing, flashing rom) I've gotten at least a full day (~15 hrs) out of a charge.
I recommend minimizing your vsels using setvsel, then judging your battery life. Check out the setvsel thread for more help.

And remember this is a smart phone, some people report getting 2 to 3 days of use out of it. That's basically idle time tho. These new smart phones are just that, and use much more battery than the Dumbphone.

Even if that's the case (and I dispute it, I use my phone a fair amount in the ~3 days the battery averages), it still doesn't explain why the OP's phone is dropping 30% in 6 hours while idling.
When I updated to froyo, my battery life went from about 15 hours of use to 21 hours between charges. So I'm thinking the op has an app doing the draining.

Unfortunately, this is a characteristic of Android.... Ridiculously inconsistent in the battery department.
Wife's phone is on official froyo, has been amazing since updated (a few weeks ago) but since yesterday some weird reason it's been super glitchy and freezing up. Not sure why...haven't changed anything to it and she's only downloaded an app or two (such as pandora) in the last couple days...I was playing around with it trying to figure out what was up...can't figure it out. I went into titanium backup to freeze some apps thinking maybe some blur crap was freezing it up but TB froze up so I can't even get in there. Also, same as OP, the battery has been heating up really quick lately, especially when on wifi.
Not sure what's up here...but I'm hoping nothing serious! Will keep you all updated on this...we'll see if there is a trend going on here.

check your cpu usage... if it's constantly arround 99%, you may experience the "usb-plug/unplug"-bug.
try enabling usb debug and restart your phone.

I would rather say it is a characteristic of people using android, to have widely different usage patterns, causing differences in how long a charge lasts for each.
Hi there. Have you tried to recalibrate the battery? There is an app on the marke called Battery Calibrator. From what I understand if you play with roms the battery can give you problems so it need to be calibrated again. I hope this can help.
For those interested... I'm having a problem, I don't know yet if it's a bug or a hardware defect.
My phones wastes A LOT of battery while it should be suspended.
I've tracked the problem to, apparently, Motorola's SIM driver. From what I've discovered so far, the SIM isn't accepting the suspend state and therefore the "suspend" process uses too much CPU time... all of this when the phone is, supposedly, saving battery.
As I can't get a motorola engineer involved, I can't say for sure if this is the true cause... but it's the closer I've got to a diagnostic, so far.
Your problem might or not be related to this, but if you're interested about what I've found or what my kernel log looks like so you can compare with your own problem... this is the thread at motorola's owner forum:

Battery overheating / draining

There is something going on with my phone, Samsung Galaxy S3, V4.3 where occasionally, lately it has been once a day the power draw from the battery will spike as high as 2,000ma (2 amps). This last long enough to drop the charge 10 - 20% and creates excessive battery heat. It happens on charge or off charge. I have tried viewing the running processes with System Tuner and nothing shows up in the list using an excessive amount of CPU. Better Battery Staus also doesn't pinpoint the problem. I have most everything Greenified accept Google stuff of course and useful stuff like email, etc. I now believe it could be connected with GPS since I turned off the GPS I have not had another event other than a 800ma spikes that quickly go away. Need more time to confirm it is GPS related. Are there any programs that will log which applications are using GPS? Any other ideas what could be the problem? I don't understand why System Tuner doesn't show me which process is eating the battery? Can anyone point me in the right direction.
I thonk it may be the radio itself. I have recently noticed similar issues on mine but its usually when streaming videos. I rarely use gps so i cant speak on that right now.
If i have it plugged in while doing this, it gets hot enough to trigger a shutdown due to thermal event....it crashes!

Same here, I also noticed with System Tuner that several applications that normally use 1% or less of CPU seem to spike to 8 - 30%. This all seem very odd. Now I am wondering if the background radio steals CPU cycles and leaves no time for normal applications. Anyway, the issues are reduced with GPS off although the battery does get warm sometimes without any reason I can fine. I'll try streaming audio and see if it triggers.
I would be willing to try a different radio. My current software is Model Number SGH-T999, Android version 4.3, BaseBand version T999UVUENC2, Kernel 3.0.31-1962493, Build number JSS15J.T999UVUENC2.
Unfortunately, no other radio will work. You can try one just to be sure about it. It wont brick, but just wont function. Youll have unknown imei and baseband until you flash the NC2 modem back.
Im currently running my port of S3Rx 4.0, but ill flash back to NC2 in a couple if days to test more on mine. Im also using a case/housing not meant for the T999 so theres a good chance that is contributing to my problems though.

Okay, thank you for the replies. Please stop by if you learn anything new. Velis Auto Brightness is up to 64% CPU usage, grrr. I posted on developers forum maybe troubleshooting that will lead to a fix. The 2 amp spikes haven't occurred since I disabled GPS, so I am guess you are correct about the radio.
The problem returned so turning off GPS isn't a complete fix, seems to reduce the frequency is all. It looks like Android System is the problem. If I shut down pull the battery reboot the bad behaviour continues, only fix seems to wait it out. My next phone most likely will not be a sammy.
Im not really sure what to suggest at this point. I can say that what we are experiencing isnt typical though.
Out of curiosity, have you given any of the ported kk roms a try? I think my Sprint port is probably the most stable/bug free, but they are all good and ive had pretty good battery on each one compared stock. (Ive always had good battery life even on stock though, aside from a few recent issues that I believe are more my own fault). TMS3KK is a solid rom with very few issues. S3Rx 4.0 is as well, but ill be posting an update to it hopefully later today, so I cant say its really been thoroughly vetted yet. Still worth a look though, imo.

No time to try a different ROM yet. I should have time the weekend after next. Thank you for all your suggestions.
I tried replacing the battery. After the first charge the phone lasted for 2 days before the battery dropped to 5%. It took 6 hours to charge back to 100%. No problems until later, it seems to dislike being unplugged moved to a new location and plugged in again. This appears to be when the problem occurs. I usually just leave the phone plugged in all the time. I'll test further with the power before I make up my mind. I think this will be the last Sammy phone for me?
Is it a non stock battery? I've always had issues with those reporting correctly.

Usually I would buy a non stock battery however since this phone lays next to me in bed to wake me in the mornings I am a little concerned with a fire so it is a Samsung battery from Samsung. Leaving it unplugged for a bit and plugging it back in didn't work stop the battery drain. There are no processes eating the battery according to System Tuner so got to change the ROM.
Should I try a ROM first or kernel or both? Could it be an Xposed module, thinking about turning all of those hacks off?
I just remembered, this only happens if the screen is on and the phone is plugged into the charger. And rebooting doesn't clear the problem.
I would start with a stock based ROM. If it were me I'd go full stock rooted. But yeah I'd ditch xposed for now. You might even try reflashing your current ROM, factory resetting and this time don't use any exposed mods. If it still has problems, then try a different ROM.
It wouldn't surprise me at all to find xposed was the culprit. Its really cool, and the dev is amazing, but I prefer not to use it at all. IMO, it's much better to have the mods coded into the ROM itself.

Thank you Doc, will do so and report back here the results.
My phone does the same thing now. My phone never did this when I first got it a couple years ago. I use GPS a lot because son plays on a travel hockey team. I could drive 3 - 4 hours away with the phone on and plugged in using the GPS without any issues. Now, my phone gets so hot in about an hour of the same type of use and it shuts down.
I thought that maybe there was something wrong with the phone because of age but now I see it could be something different.
It very well could be age related, or it could be partially due to that too. But I'd do as I suggested above and run stock for a bit to test. If on a custom rom, and especially kernel, you could run into issues like that too.
If you have the same problem on stock, (and you're sure its not an app acting up), there's a very good possibility that its more of a hardware related issue.

And it is not the battery. I can't load stock until next weekend, need my phone for work.
You can always use better battery stats to investigate while you use it normally. Let it log all wakelocks, including kernel wakelocks for a full cycle.

Tried that, been there, odd thing is nothing shows there. I'm gonna reload with stock per your suggestion next weekend and if that doesn't work I'll try a custom kernel.
Try remove greenify app and see what happens. Cuz with my case the latest version (2.4.x.x) of greenify driving my phone nuts. That app used to be great.
I'm back. Loaded stock 4.3 ROM / kernel, radio is at newest versions, I am going to say the problem is gone. The battery heats up to about 32-33 degrees Celsius however the phone isn't hot like it is burning up so I believe the problem is like Doc suggested earlier with the radio. Which would explain why the process monitors never see any rouge application using to much CPU. So after some pondering, this doesn't stop a rouge application from using to much bandwidth and cooking the radio so to type. If I had to pin it down I am going to suggest it maybe one of these two applications: FCC speedtest and or Opensignal or some other application. Both of the listed applications periodically test the network bandwidth and report back to a central server. I suspect that this maybe trigger the heat problem from the extend radio usage. No proof at this time just conjecture.
I am considering jumping to an AOSP ROM to be free of the Samsung bloat, NOT CM, don't care for CM, does anyone have any good suggestions to try?

Overheating --> Network/Device Lag? Marshmallow, M9

I know my way around Android well enough I could probably teach a class. I've been excited for the Marshmallow update for my Verizon M9, mostly for the security update. Now I've got it, and udderly hate it. Not only is this marshmallow über soft and squishy, it's somehow managed to swallow the majority of my CPU--much like BOB from Monsters vs Aliens. Actually, the update is more like BOB than a delicious couple of calories. Tremendous lag from god knows where, constant freezing and other **** when in hpm--whether it be plugged in or not--which often crashes apps altogether or causes a reboot, keyboard latency of about 1.5seconds, network disconnecting when the device exceeds 120℉, ooh!, and the cherry on top: loss of data. I use my phone for both business/class-related stuff and for gaming/pleasure(shh, creeps) because I'm too broke to buy anything else. The front-facing speakers get glitcy and doing that pausing crap like when you drive outta radio range in a car. This was never a problem with Lollipop, but is making Android a living hell to deal with. MHL has yet to work on Marshmallow, and instead simply crashes the phone. Again. Can't find ANYthing ANYwhere about this. Both Verizon and HTC are refusing to talk to me directly about it; keep getting passed to the next rep, who tries to put me through their template of troubleshooting steps. Wiping cache partition worked...for all of ten minutes. If that. HTC wants to take my phone for two weeks, which won't work due to classes.
Full stock M9. I use App Mgr III for new moving apps quickly, App Cache Cleaner because I'm lazy, and Greenify to kill some stuff that I've got, e.g., Ingress, Skype, snapchat. Greenify does NOT allow killing of bloatware/pre-installed crap, so let me tape the mouths of those twits shut now. Most pre-installed apps, including all but two of the Verizon things, are disabled.
The game I notice the most trouble on is Walking War Robots, can't tell if it has to do with graphics or the processor itself. Chrome browser is quite laggy; Drive is almost unresponsive as is Docs; have lost quite a bit of data from Microsoft Word, both saved and documents being worked on. Reception is also quite a bit worse with the Marshmallow update, calls being dropped more frequently and location often having trouble pinpointing me on high-accuracy.
As I do NOT have a computer, reseting the device is not an option. The recaptcha thingy took almost 30 seconds to load; on Lollipop, they took less than five.
I fully agree with you. My experience with marshmallow has only been negative so far.
1) Incredibly Laggy. Back in the day, installing a kitkat or lollipop rom, the phone would be super fluid and would only slightly lag when installing the 50 apps. God forbid when I was installing marshmallow it seriously hung like 5 seconds and was going at maximum 10fps.
2) Heat. The phone appears to get even warmer now. How is that even possible?
3) Battery Life. My battery appears to be 10% worse. I used to only charge it at night but now I have to charge it after work around 8pm.
I do have some hope though. I'm waiting for Neo or Santod to compile a debloated rom and hoping that clears up these issues.
I was experiencing terrible lag, it seems to be settling down now. I was overheating, but that seems to have settled as well. Biggest problem is that I'm only charging at 550mA with a 2A quick charger. That's new, and totally unacceptable. Also, HTC emojis are gone. All I have are the stupid jellybean/potato looking guys and I can't decipher which emotion they are trying to relay. Chics dig emojis, and here I am feeling emoji blind.
Edit: Lag is still terrible
In the same boat.. this update is not good. This phone is so laggy and slow now it's like my OG Droid 1 from years ago. Cleared cache after installing.. waited the obligatory 45 minutes to rebuild stuff. Uninstalled the bloatware I could and it literally took minutes to do a simple uninstall. Hasn't got any better in the last day at all. If it doesn't get better in the next day or two I'll have to go back to Lollipop. This is probably the most buggy, laggy, battery killing Android update I've seen on any of my Android phones since Droid 1 days. Anyone else getting this or know of any kind of fix? I just can't imagine HTC and VZW pushed this out if problems like these are a common occurrence.
I FIGURED IT OUT GUYS?!!
So ViperROM just put out version 4.3.0.
I always thought ViperROM was some weird bloated ROM with weird features so i never gave it a go, but its basically a slimmed down HTC SENSE with a small amount of tweaks. My phone is BUTTERY smooth now. =)
Yeah, I've thought about pulling the trigger w/ Venom rom but I wanted to stay just stock rooted on my M9. If you install viper rom do you have to factory reset? I just despise doing that so much and don't want to if I don't have to. If it doesn't get better in the next day or two, I'll probably give viper a go with a full wipe.
On a side note, is this a fairly common issue with this update and the M9?? Some are saying in the other thread theirs is nice and smooth.
I was having many heat/lag issues as described above when I flashed the zip dirty or clean. I had to do a RUU with the MM update. Now it's super smooth. Still get lots of heat when the system is booting up for the first time/settling in. But after that, no issues.
how is everyone's battery with this? Mine is absolutely horrible! Just this morning sitting here.. 3 hours, down to 78% already and haven't even done anything very intensive with it. Few messages on Whatsapp, texts, a picture. This phone sucks right now. Yesterday only lasted about 10 hours with normal use. Before I would get at least a normal day out of it without worrying. What the hell is going on with MM that is sucking the life out of this phone?

Yea you will have to root. The thing is, Venom is literally a STOCK rooted M9 that has all bloat cut away and 1 small app for additional features (like changing status bar and power button for flashlight.). It is well worth it.

Guys, I finally did do the factory reset despite how much I hate having to do that. From both inside android, and from within TWRP just to be sure. It made the world of difference. I know having to re-install and set up all your apps is a huge pain the ass, but it seriously made a huge difference. Mine lasted 1 day, 13 hours with my typical usage and was still at like 9-10% I think when I re-charged it. Everything is back to working really smooth, no lag, and no heating issues. Something left over from before doesn't play nice at all with the new ROM. Hope this might help if you guys decide to stay on stock.

Mmmm, but my original post was about the M9. Not the M8. They're similar, but the M8 has a superior processor. Imo it'd be amaz to have my custom (and unfortunately shattered) M8's processors and RAM in my M9. Fix all these issues. But, alas.....

In scale, that prolly equates to about 70% of my normal day, minus gaming. Right now I'm getting through about 30% of my day, minus gaming, before needing a charge. Even with QC, charging takes about 40% longer than it did on Lollipop.
Still neither factory reset nor rooting is an option, as I have nothing to back my stuff up on. No, the local library isn't kind enough to me for that lol.

Battery problems?

I know, our device has really great battery life and I don't have anything to complain about that, but a friend of mine just got himself a new phone and his values make me a bit jealous and most of all: surprised and stunned.
He got himself a Xiaomi Redmi Note 4 (SD 625 variant, MKT variant really sucks), it has the same processor, same display and not even 700 mAh more (4100 mAh) and he got with some "dev rom" (made by Xiaomi, seems to just be the beta of that ugly MIUI 9, based on Andorid 7.0) 6h of SOT, doze seems to haven't really kicked in in that time. in their forum in the SOT thread I see people getting normally about 8-10 with up to over 12 h of SOT, most of them on stock ROM without any additions. And I'm quite irritated about that huge of a difference with not that much more battery. And he seems quite convinced that it's not on the cost of performance, you should notice that quickly on such a heavily skinned ROM.
Now my question is: how in hell is that even possible? I mean our devices seem quite comparablewith just a slight bump in battery but near-stock AOSP Android against pretty much an iOS clone. Does anyone have any idea what could cause that big of a difference? And if it's software based could that be done on our device? Because my experience and from different posts our device lasts about 5-6 h normally.
I mean I'm already lucky about my 2 days of usage with up to about 2.5 days on some weekends where I have a lot of stuff to do. But I wouldn't mind a bit of extra. But my biggest problem with that is as simple as: how? I could really use some explaination right now...
I don't have issues with device.. stock 7.1.1 with dec.patch, unlocked bootloader, with latest magisk. Also installed greenify.
Then you are one of very rare cases. My experience is about half of that.
And I also meant on stock ROM, without any modifications. So I don't know which apps you greenified, but that was not the point. I use Greenify too but more for apps that aren't supposed to run constantly in background when I only use it very seldomly.
The norm for this phone is 8+ hours SOT. Sometimes I get 10 and a few have had up to 12. Unless you're gaming 8 should be easy. 5 hours means something is wrong with your phone hardware, you have a rogue battery eating app or you're gaming. I rarely charge my phone over the weekend even when I use it a lot.
Well, neither of that is the case and I rarely see people claiming more than 6h of SOT
So the answer to your question is, it's the wrong question. The question should be, why does my battery not last very long and what apps or usage causes me to have such poor battery life? Compared to the Redmi Note 4 the Z Play is exactly where it should be.
Here's a link to the SOT thread: https://forum.xda-developers.com/moto-z-play/review/screen-time-t3643959
gsmarena battery life test 100h endurance rating: https://www.gsmarena.com/battery-test.php3?idPhone=8310#show
Here's an app to help diagnose battery condition (Accubattery): https://play.google.com/store/apps/details?id=com.digibites.accubattery&hl=en
also betterbatterystats is really helpful.
I sincerely hope you get it sorted out!
Well, gsam isn't detecting any app that's off even with root so I don't think there is any. I installed that AccuBattery app, let's see what it has to say
Removed because of ****ty q&a system...
Oh, and another thing I noticed: I get very randomly reboots, and every time the battery percentage drops massively. Just had a 30% drop. And after the reboot the battery percentage seems like frozen. Now I rebooted and plugged in the cable and got 44% again... No fast charging. Do that detection seems very off
Motorola forum isn't helpful at all. Clearing cache and dalvik didn't change anything and running around for a week in secure mode (that's how random they mostly are) or even doing a factory reset without restoring apps is out of question for obvious reasons.
That's pretty weird. Did you try a factory reset and after restore your apps? There's not a lot you can do if you're not rooted, but you shouldn't need to do much anyway on stock rom.
Only other option is full RSD lite OS restore as a last resort.
I am rooted for long, that's why I use Greenify. I know it also works without but then it's a joke. As RSD lite is, it just refuses for everyone to detect anything on Windows 10.
Factory reset is out of question for the moment, it takes way too long to do it properly (with titanium and NANDroid backup first) and I won't have that much time probably for the whole of this month. Otherwise I would most likely already have went off to the next best custom ROM since Motorola just can't get their **** together and still work on 8.0 in test for 2.5 month with searching testers for another one.
I think the next thing I'll do is to try the good old battery calibration, just have to find the file storing the statistics. I know many say that won't work but that's rubbish, it worked for me already a few times
Update: no, no change. Don't know if that funky battery percentage bug on random reboots still happen since I haven't had any again yet, but they come too random and unpredictable.
And that AccuBattery just proves to be worthless. It tries to estimate the rest capacity, but then it even fails to detect original capacity by 500 mAh. The battery sucker stats are also unrealistic. It puts chrome first with 10%, while GSam with root puts it 5th at 4.6% after kernel, Spotify, Android system and fight services. Android itself even puts it 9th with screen, phone idle, cell standby, Android OS and Bluetooth in-between.
So let's see what happens first. Motorola releasing 8.0, which I will flash through the .xml.zip, this time using flashfile.xml which should force a factory reset... Or me finding the time to switch to a custom ROM
Edit: so I got another one, bit this time no crazy battery drop. But the other times I killed of the soft reboot sequence because Magisk can have some problems with that. This time I didn't
Yesterday I was finally able to do the factory reset since those darn random reboots became too annoying and Moto's support is had just the most ridiculous ideas... In the worst way.
Either way, now OTA looks better, let's see how it will turn out in the next days

Question RedMagic 6S Pro EU V3.18 charging issue

So, i was on V3.15
I got update notification of V3.18 (3.7gb?)
I clicked.
My phone battery was behaving normal, calibrated and charge current speed 5200mAh.
I upgraded to V3.18 and booom, charge current shows always half of the value.
But it charges still 5200mAh but device thinks the input current is 2500-2600mAh.
My phone is EU variant. 16/256 Ghost Edition.
I downgraded to V3.15 (yes i lost data) and problem solved. I upgraded again to V3.18 and hello, problem is back!
This causes battery to be miscalibrated.
For over a week using this update and it still persists, it did not settle down.
So now when my battery hits 18% and i charge and it hits 56%, then its not 56% but in fact, its ~80%.
Charging while phone is fully shutdown is same too. It seems like the kernel is giving false info to device. So when phone system reads 2600mAh it moves percentage by that. So when this happens it thinks it charges alow and raises percentage slow accordingly too but in fact it still charges full speed.
Anyone else experiencing this issue? Using original cable and charge adapter.
Been sending video recordings/screenshots and 8min long of video of me talking/shutting down system/rebooting but the customer service denies to admit they messed up V3.18 charging parameters. They refuse.
So tell me. Who else is experiencing this issue?
It only happens on newest OS update (NX669S_EUCommon_V3.18).
So please, if you experience same issue, write it down here and contact customer service and give them link to this thread.
Raise awareness. I fresh installed V3.18 and it still happens! Wiped data, still happens!
Not normal!
Been using this update over a week with no luck.
Greetings, I am in the exact same situation like you with the latest EU update. Just created my account to post here, since I was browsing around the web searching for eventual fix for this issue. Sadly, I am unable to downgrade to the previous version and this is driving me crazy.
Can you suggest me a way to downgrade? (there is no factory reset option, nor wiping partition in boot mode works)

You cant downgrade, if you do you will lose all data on phone with downgraded version.
The customer support i exchanged 15emails or so and they simply dont admit its their mistake. They just fool with me.
My belief is they intentionally try to ruin our battery to go for the new redmagic 7 device.
They even "overcharge" our phone. My phone alerted me at 74% (overvoltage battery charge stops). Voltage on battery raised up to 4.5voltage because battery charges still fast at 95-99% even tho phone thinks its at 74%.
But no, this Nubia company denies to admit their mistake with my proofs and tests.
Their technical team doesnt even check.
I mean they just need to put this update in their device and then charge from ~20% to 100% and they will see it.
We need more people gathering here up and to make our voice be heard. Come on guys everyone please stand up!

I can cofirm the same voltage warning as well. This is really worrisome. I am fine losing all my data, just want to downgrade to safest version

3.15 is the previous one we had before this bug arised.
I flashed 3.15 lost all data, then upgraded problem came back at 3.18.
But on 3.15 there isnt any.
Posted to their support with a link to the thread as well, we will search our rights if this is intentional with the release of RM7...
I also noticed, the cpu 4 main cores get stuck at 100% sometimes (for 20min or 1-2hours) causing huge heat build-up and extra high battery usage.
Sometimes it fixes itself and then quickly comes again stuck at 100%.
Only way to fix it is by rebooting phone.
Really sucks. When this happens, and you charge phone and play with charge separation, the phone goes very high temperature.
This is gaming phone? With problems?
Their kernel is bad. Their developers just DONT put effort. they cant release a simple normal clean kernel... I swear, if they dont fix these issues i will for sure go back to OnePlus as my next device, i had no such issue....

This stuck cpu issue been since initial release for months.
Sometimes dont u notice battery heats alot way more than before while doing same thing?
At times its 37c and then at times hits 40c.
Fun thing is when i plug charger it suddenly shows my battery is fallin from 39c to 35c.
Zzz this company and device, probably my first and last redmagic device.
Big regret...

I have noticed some spikes in my battery indeed, just didn't do deep digging as you did. I will definitely pay closer attention to this strange behavior from now on ... starting to get even more worried now
It wasnt like this before.
Now it just loves to stay there.

We have to wait.
Im regularly checking manually update through the app.
I noticed something.
Sometimes i see CPU is very aggresively piking to 100% the first 0-3 cores (4 cores).
Its the small cores maxing to 100% frequency very often.
But at other times it doesnt and i noticed. When it doesnt spike to 100% alot, the phone is battery friendly and doesnt heat alot even during charge, but at random moment this gets triggered and cpu becomes super aggresive for NO REASON!
This is SUPER frustrating!
Very poorly optimized phone, i will definitely not buy a RedMagic phone ever again.
My next device simply OnePlus back.
Im VERY disappointed in RedMagic... Gaming phone? Really?
Nice joke.

The video fixes the stuck cpu parameters 80% of time.
It seems like an issue lying down in the phone OS.
RedMagic Gaming phone? Hah! CONSUMER NEEDS TO POINT THESE BASIC ISSUES? What is this
Even a 200$ phone doesnt have such issues.
The video is proof of the issue being unnecesarily running 4 cores at full peak and load.
Causing unnecesary heat buildup and battery drain.
