Should we be concerned about Coronavirus shipping delays? - Samsung Galaxy S20 / S20+ / S20 Ultra Questions &

I know Samsung announced they closes a plant due to Coronavirus. Mine still says March 4th shipping but should we actually be concerned?
Did they make enough to fulfill the pre-orders and stuff?

No, I think all the phones are already on their way, or are already in the states, sitting in customs. They will probably sit in customs for like a week until they are cleared and transferred to shipping warehouses to ship to the customers. That's why certain carriers ship first than others. I think anything ordered after the first month or so, could start to be affected once Samsung runs out of their components and need to source from China.

The plant that closed primarily makes phones for S. Korea and the flip. Most international/American phones are from Vietnam.

As per first post most launch phones are already sitting in local depots ready to ship the final leg.
Second batches may get delayed if ports/airports begin to close.

i'm just waiting for mine to come in... almost forgot that it showed a shipping date of 3/3 but that is next week and i still haven't picked/ordered a case yet. hopefully speck will come out with an ink'd skin similar to the space/nebula design that i've used on my iphones for years

We should be worried when we open the phones and the Coronavirus hits us in face. Better put on your gas mask before opening your new phone.

Mine will be delivered by March 5th, so I think it will also be on time everywhere else around the world.

Just wondering when did you preorder? I am getting mine until the 17th; I am already affected by the virus causing delay?

I re-ordered after I found out the original preorder was cancelled. My order was just after midnight on 23 Feb and delivery is estimated on the 17th. Not sure why it's so much later but if it were related to the current COVID-19 issue it would be much later or cancelled altogether.

Vietnam (where most Samsung phones are built) wouldn't be effected by the closure in S. Korea. Maybe it would be effected by parts delays coming from China, but I doubt it would be so soon.

Pre-ordered mine on the 12th and the page on that marketplace still says that the phone will be delivered by march 5th. I think maybe that's because the phone will be made in Indonesia (which is my own country) or Vietnam.

Not ENTIRELY true, as coronaviruses can survive on hard surfaces for a few hours, and up to a day or so under ideal conditions. In other words, it's "if your FedEx guy has it, you can get it from the outside box" NOT "guy at the factory coughed on the phone and two weeks later you can get it from touching it."
Wash your hands, people.

I'm not worries about it at all. I already got the email with tracking number, SIM card and MEID number... Tracking number isn't tracked yet and I don't think it will until Wednesday

Corona virus is going to cause problems for every exporter, but I think that the service providers and Samsung outlets will do what needs to be done to get the device out there, it's their bread and butter after all.
Personally not bothered about Corona, If it happens it happens.
Also bare in mind, according to CDC normal flu kills 56,000 people each year.

Samsung Germany doing a product recall?

I read in a German board from a reseller that Samsung is recalling the whole first bunch of phones delivered to resellers because there is a major hardware problem.
Telling from what he wrote, the Nexus is overheating the mainboard in the phone causing malfunctions on the display and even heavily damaging the screen.
I cannot proof this, but the phone is not really available in any German store, and some people received a mail from Cyberport.de that they will not be able to deliver the phones before Christmas. As good as none German MediaMarkt, who made a big marketing campaign for the phone are able to sell a phone, they all blame Samsung for not being able to deliver the already preordered phones...
Sent from my GT-N7000
Wow thats pretty bad. I think the laws there are very strong about defects and false advertising. I remember the Galaxy i7500 was mis-advertised by saying it had some bluetooth and wifi option it didn't. O2 offered a full no question refund to customers even after owning the device for over a year!
They're probably very scared the same might happen again. Whereas in other territories it could probably be handled as warranty repairs except for those few people who really know their rights.

As I said, I cannot proof it.
If we are talking about the same forum. Then it's a Swiss forum and the reseller is just talking about the Swiss market.
Unfortunately we don't have any specific informations.
The only thing which we can tell for sure is that the device still isn't available in our country. And they probably delayed the release again. It was supposed to come tomorrow but some shops changed their date.
Maybe I can give you more specific information tomorrow.
Edit: It is indeed the same forum.
I bought a Nexus at Saturn in Germany 5 days ago...so far not having any trouble. It get's pretty warm while charging but I guess that's rather normal
This is troubling. I thought maybe it would explain my crashes but i've had crashes with screen corruption (probably not exactly what they are talking about) even when the phone seems cool.

The reseller is talking about screen problems after the phone's overheating.
But as said before at the moment it's just one single guy telling something which we can't really prove. In addition we don't have an idea what "overheating" means. Does it have to become really hot. Or is it already enough if you play some good looking games.
Woots .. This is dishearthening ... As I am going to buy in Germany ...
Any more coverage in the German newspaper or blogs?
Nothing in the news or in the highly frequented German Android related forums.
As the mentioned topic is from a Swiss forum and not prooved at all I don't give a ****.
Got my handset from Saturn Germany and besides that Samsung messed up the firmware of the first charge - there's a fix for it since yesterday - I have no problems at all. I don't even have a degree of increasing temperature whatever I do.
Dont believe the FUD.
if so, i believe Samsung would know the range of serial numbers for the devices, or?
Guys, I live in Switzerland and I can confirm that many shops here didn't get the Nexus though they were "expecting it this week". Two of them confirmed that it was due to a Samsung recall and those of them who gave me an estimation date (others wanted to stay careful and told me "we don't know") said the 15th of december.
Mediamarkt Switzerland, however, told me january... I hope they're wrong.
But I would still say that this is done not because of an hardcore A-Team hardware bug but more possible because of the firmware update Samsung messed up.

You're probably right. My point was just that rumors about Switzerland recall are true. I don't know if this is affecting other countries, or if it's a hardware/software problem.
Thins is, until last week all info I could get was "soon, but we don't know when" and now it's "we were supposed to get it but it was delayed". So for all the people complaigning about the VZW lack of info, just know that it's the same everywhere ; Samsung is probably to blame for this mess.
I heard a rumor that the reason the Swiss version of the G-NEX was melting the screen was that on the Swiss version the glass was replaced by a thin layer of cheese! Could this be true?
Maybe it was troll skin instead...
@thegrau: No worries, I got your point.
All I wanted was to say what you just have brought to the point: Samsung screwed it and is now in a hustle to fix it. Thanks god, I decided to flash the Google build by myself.

[Q] what date have dial a phone said for delivery

as title says.they told me 11th April
same here, told me on the phone the 7th but my email confirmation says the 11th.
Also the 11th for my order with dialaphone. Seems like everyone got the same date. Still if it comes sooner then that's great.
11th for me too.
Mine says 11th too, shows credit check passed. They've also taken payment for the handset.
this is mainly due to bank holiday weekends ofcourse. Never mind few days more will not kill you.
Tad confused now, found this on their FB page.
Dialaphone Hi Mike, Thanks for your post. The expected delivery date for all HTC One X handsets is the 12th April. Let me know if you have any further questions and have a great day. Cheers, Espi.

11th for me as well on the Vodafone contract. Don't mind waiting a few extra days but would be nice to get it before Easter holidays, doubt that will happen!
It may possibly come earlier.
This late date might be for the stats as proof they have 'exceeded customers' expectations' by delivering earlier than promised. Who knows, it may have a 'stretch target' to exceed delivery times to qualify for a bonus.
On the other hand, they might be telling the truth

They told me the 12th on Twitter as well, but all our order pages say the 11th.
Think they are simply covering their backs in case of holiday delays.

They have probably been given a script and their calls will be listened to and QC'd to check they stick to it. I suspect the first we will hear if its an earlier date is an email saying its shipping.
so, after paying vodafone to bring my commitment date earlyer so i can upgrade, i went through dialaphone purely because voda was asking far too much,
so i went for a white one x voda upgrade

purchased my screen protecters already,in car kit, home dock tooo,
sorry to ramble on lol, cheers,
I ordered my One X through Dialaphone almost 2 weeks ago now, I did call and speak to a gent just before ordering and he said they where due them in on the 7th, which if your not aware is Good Friday, if this is true then they probably won't ship till the following Tuesday after Easter Monday. That would make delivery date the 11th which is what everyone's order probably does say!
I live in hope that they may come in a day earlier and MAYBE come on the Friday/Saturday but it is unlikely so I am just banking on the 11th, itll be far less disppointing that way
I don't know why companies like HTC choose such a stupid time to release handsets. They could have chose any week, instead they choose Easter week. So annoying, lol.
But you are right, all these conspiracy theories about the phones being shipped late due to branding are probably all a load of crap. It's just the lack of days available to deliver due to the holidays that is causing the delays.
It's still not to say obviously that some phones could be branded, but lets hope not.

it's sad it's come to an end

This is the last message I will type with my Note7, after I finish this I will wipe and put it in its box for collection tomorrow. Every item lovingly wrapped in its original packing and lables perfectly packaged looking like the box was never opened.
Do you think Samsung would mind if I kept the ota adaptor?
Also do I just hand over the Note7 box or should I wrap it in something?
I will now see some of you in the one plus 3 forum or next year if Samsung can convince me to go to a note8 I will be there.

I thought you had to return everything in the box?
I would love to keep the accessories. Just don't want to mess up refund etc
I am pretty sure a lot of people just sent the phone in and kept the accessories. I know that's what I am going to do. I doubt there will be anything said or done about it. Hell, I spent hundreds on accessories for my Note 7 that will be useless once I turn the phone in, so it is a very small thing to keep the charger and cord IMO. Doesn't nearly make up for all I lost in the big picture.
ooMoo you don't say what country you are in but from what I remember of your previous posts you are UK based like myself.
I've returned both the original and replacement phones. Each time I only returned the phone (the first one I even kept the Spen as a spare for the replacment) and have had no problems and now received my refund from Samsung.
It's not like they can do anything with second hand accessories, they'll just become more landfill. Be eco-friendly and keep them!

I'm sure the bits would come in handy. I just hope if I do keep a few bits I'm as lucky as you when they check.
it all depends if they check, O2 actually commented on the fact I never put the USB lead and S-Pen nibs in with the first replacement, ended up they did want them when I said they were welcome to send someone to pick them up like they did the phone. with the final return they wanted the Gear VR back I was going to send it back I have no use for it any more, the courier refused to take anything more than the phone in the box, I had to wait over a week after them getting the phone collected before I could even get them to remove the Note off my account so I could get another phone, during that time they complained about the Gear VR not being there so I offered to return it to a store or send it back if they sent a paid packet but they decided it didn't matter so they obviously had the phone it was still about another 4-5 days before I could get them to remove the phone from my account by that point I had got a a Pixel XL from EE and told them they could go fornicate with a rusty pole.
but then what can you expect from the firm that once told me 3G was a failure and no one would ever use it.
so what you have to send back depends on the firm you got your phone from and how crap and unhelpful they are.
Samsung does not care about anything but the phone. Not the stylus nor the accessories nor the VR or SD card or Gear Fit2 that were issued on promotion.. They do not care if you take a hammer and smash the Note7 to bits. They just want the Note back so they can check it off the list and send it to a recycling firm.
IF you run into some shady sellers that require you to produce the Promo items or accessories know that they only want to be able to profit from your gullibility or the goodness of your heart.

I have to return mine tomorrow too. And although I've already moved on to the LG V20, it still hurts prepping it for return. It's like losing your first love, you can't quite get over it completely.
Yeah... The note 7 was probably the perfect phone
I myself have moved to the v20 and am loving it. But I still remember my note 7 days...
Anyways, they let me keep all the accessories.. Cables, charger, adapters.....
Oh yeah, I'm definitely keeping the rest. Just returning the phone.
Especially the S Pen. I'm just gonna get maybe the Note 8.0 pre-owned, and then use the S Pen on it.
That's it for me. My Note 7 has departed. Feeling depressed now.
Don't feel so sad. If you can wait for Note8, it will be thabomb . OK, bad joke. But those that say Note8 should be amazing are probably right because Samsung needs to get their reputation back badly.

Well, I did say Samsung. How is it possible to fit the VR headset into the ceramic box they send for recovery? It isn't.... Are they sending a shipping container for the VR headset? I doubt they are.
So, Samsung only cares about the phone getting returned like I said. Whatever this other company wants is above and beyond the recall process and they just want to make some flow. Remember, the VR headsets were subsidized by Samsung and no one else....
Sadly my ride with the note7 is coming to an end. I got my Axon 7 which is a very nice phone. Not a note7 but it looks and feels nice.

Same here. If by any chance a customer didn't return to the store every single thing in the box etc, Samsung charged the store. My store was so angered by the attitude over the VR that the STORE gave me a VR themselves FOC.
The Samsung importer in this country is awful.
This is one major area I think Samsung Korea should have cleaned its act up by making one rule across the globe for returns.
Knowing UK consumer laws are stiff I would suspect, I don't know, that the VR as a free 'gift' would not be required to be part of any return. I would think a visit to ones local CAB and a chat with one of their legal reps would soon sort that out?

Do not buy from slickwraps

They are ripping everyone off and have not shipped a single item in over 3 weeks.
They do not answer support emails either.
Filing claim on PayPal and moving on.
You've been warned.
I second this.. They have always been very very late, and always with the same excuse of being over loaded with orders.. DONT TAKE ORDERS IF YOU CANT FULFILL IT..
They refused to refund me in previous orders, simply they say you can't cancel after few hours of placing the order, but they CAN be late with no one questioning them..
I'll admit that I've had issues with getting my items delivered in a timely manner, but it still always comes. Two weeks ago I filed a warranty claim with them because I accidentally peeled a huge chunk off and it was approved so I just had to pay $6 for shipping and processing and haven't heard back yet after making the payment.
It sucks because their wraps are pretty good and easy-ish to install. lol
I can agree. Whenever they have a huge sale posted expect not to get your stuff for at least 2-3 weeks.

Yeah I will never order from slickwraps. 1st and last order took almost a month.
I get mine from eBay with sopiguard. Order one for every phone and it's here within a few days.
After opening a case with paypal they also did not react for a week or so. Then they offered a tracking ID to another part of the country to another name / address to delay, I suppose. Personally, I will stay away from them.
By the way, they CAN be rated on google https://www.google.com/search?&q=slickwraps+wichita
AND they are having a 60% Easter Sale - while being unable to deliver from the LAST sale. It is a shame.
Try the Dbrand Bot
I'm waiting on one from them too. Only did it because I was ordering a computer skin too. I always say I won't order from them again but their custom skins ? the second Dbrand starts making custom skins I'll never order another slickwraps...
The best part is mine has said it's been shipped on the 22nd, but still shows it hasn't moved from their location.
I've never had a problem with them have a slickwrap on right now
Sent from my [device_name] using XDA-Developers Legacy app
Used to purchase skins from both dbrand and Slickwraps. Don't face any major issue with both of them.
The last skins bought from Slickwraps was for note9, during Christmas holiday, slightly slower processing time than it used to be but not an issue.
Lol of course you're going to have to wait for your order when they have a SALE. I have 0 issues with slickwraps and I get my orders in 2-3 weeks delivered (to the netherlands). RiPPinG YoU OFf
I was able to get my order from slickwraps it did take 3 weeks tho. But I did receive it.
Mine is way over a month now - got nothing so far (not even a tracking link / shipment verification). Also, no answers from support.
Also, when you are still not recovering from the last sale, why have the next?
They take money and are unable to fulfill or even react - not good.
I so dearly wanted this skin.
But I rather let it be. Or does anyone know if another company has it?
I have been using slickwraps since oneplus 2 never had any issues with the product or shipments, although they can take a little more time when they have any discount sales going on. "Ripping off" indicates they will take your money and won't send anything in return, i guess that's not the case here.
I ordered 2 items back in April from #Slickwraps, got an email on 4/22/19 my order has shipped....and has not arrived yet. All tracking says they are in Kansas and have been there since 4/22/19. I ordered a custom skin from #Skinit on Saturday and it is in transit now. Arrival should be tomorrow. I don't know what is up with #Slickwraps but I think I am done with them.
Can't go wrong with PhantomSkinz.

Yeah, I bought my first slickwrap for my s10+. Took 8 days to ship, but I was ok with that. However the wrap itself did not fit my phone around the whole edge. The camera cutout was fine, but both wraps were too large. It was a waste of money in my opinion.

Question Screwed By Package Delivery Company

The title says it all. Google decided to use 'Ontrac' as the company to deliver my 6 pro. And as you might expect, it they decided to mark it as delivered.
A few days ago, after i saw my package shipping email, i decided to look up reviews on Ontrac on Reddit and other various forums.
A downright litany/fukkton of people were complaining that Ontrac marked the package as delivered, when they never were. Packages seem to grow legs and disappear with this company. This gave me deep core cringy anxiety once i saw this.
Now....... I'm pissed, because i can't even reach Google, because of the INSANE wait times for calls and online chat. I'm beyond upset, what a complete sh1tshow.
Please request to have another company deliver your pixel. Stay a mile away from Ontrac.
has your package been stated as delivered? wasn't clear by your post....

Of course it was marked off as delivered. Otherwise I wouldn't have bothered to type this.
In the modern world of shipping companies dropping and running, its a GREAT idea to put a motion sensitive security camera of some sort to catch the front of your property.
I use some generic high resolution IP cameras and a Zoneminder server.
If there is ever a claim that a package was delivered, you just need to find the footage applicable for the time they claim it was delivered. If none exists, then they obviously didn't deliver.
I've caught all kinds of weird stuff, like a delivery ape literally THROWING a package marked "fragile". Also a neighbor from across the street trying to sneak a couple of extra bags onto my driveway, and after I had a little chat with him, sneaking it onto OTHER people's driveways.
Note: it was an old guy, and I actually told him that it was OK, just give me a call first so I know its him and not someone from the other end of town throwing out body parts
Similar situation with Best Buy. Had I known, I would have done in store pickup. Now mine is "an event has delayed your delivery". I guess on the plus side, it hasn't officially been stolen yet.

OMG. Still nothing on my stolen/vanished p6p. I had to order one off eBay, and on top of that miraculously, an hour later found a 256 stormy black at best buy that will be delivered on the 3rd! I got completely scalped on the eBay pixel.
I have learned a valuable lesson. Don't get phones shipped to your house guys.
1) Always get doorbell camera security system for your package delivery doors.
2). Try everything in your power to get packages routed to 'in package store pickup', and DO NOT use sketch package delivery companies like OnTrac!
