[Q] Exchange settings for Google account

I flashed my Desire HD with CyanogenMod 7 and I would like to sync my phone to my Google account to download all my contacts and such from there.
Under "Accounts & Sync settings", I clicked on the "Add account" button and entered my email address and password correctly.
When I click on "Next", there's this "Retrieving account information" screen and the "Server settings" page comes out where I have to enter my Domain\Username, password and server.
Domain\username:
\(my username)
Password:
(my password)
Server:
gmail.com
When I clicked on the "next" button, I got an error window saying that "Setup could not finish | Unable to open connection to server".
What should the settings be? I tried to google for the settings but I must have used the wrong keywords because I couldn't find anything...

I realised that I should have installed Gapps along with Cyanogen in order to connect to my Google account. Now everything's sync-ed and is going fine.

htc wildfire s market cannot sign in after factory reset

Hi their im matt,
what it is, i had to do a factory reset on my mobile today, and once i got it up and running, i cannot seem to sign into the market now. it keeps saying the username and password is wrong, but i have tried numerous usernames n passwords what i kinow i would of signed up with but none work, now iv tired going onto google on my pc and i can sign into my google account, but it doesnt show any other accounts associated with the one i created for the market.
can anyboy help me

Any google account should work, shouldn't it? If you can log into Google, why not just use that username/password for your phone?

i want to open this thread because recently i had a problem with my Xperia S.
The phone was offline in gtalk and it couldn't open Google plus (it gave me an errore like:" can't connect to the server " ).
For this reason why, apps like Cerberus can't work!
So i've find the solution for this problem and i want to share it with you.
- open Settings -> Apps -> All
- Go to Google Talk and clear data
- Go to Google Services Framework and clear data
- Go to Accounts & sync
- Go to your gmail account, press settings and remove the account from the phone
- Reboot the device
- Add your gmail account
- Open Gtalk and you will see that it's online
(Only if you had problem with Cerberus):
- Open Cerberus, login with your account, select " Register for C2DM "
- Open Cerberus dashboard from your PC and send some command, you will see that it work!

I believe with this issue you only need to remove your Google account from the phone and then log back in it again

Google account sign in with browser not working

hello,
I have a Galaxy Nexus and just fresh installed the latest nightly from CM and the latest gapps Nano, when I want to add my google account though it says it needs a browser sign-in so I sign-in from the browser (2 step verification) and after the successful sign-in my account shows up in the browser but the sign-in process doesn't continue, I can browse my account and stuff but I'm stuck there, do I need to press something ? the only option I have from the sign-in screen is "Exit browser sign-in" and if I do that the account does not appear in the list.

I had something similar happen when loading up a 4.3 ROM. Never had an answer to it. One thing you can do is use your PC and disable 2 factor authentication and then sign in as normal on your device. Once signed in, go back and activate 2FA.

yes that is what I eventually ended up doing and it worked ok, seems google 2 step authentication doesn't work very well on older distributions of Android

can't add Google account

Whenever I try do an a Google account from the account page/manager in setting nothing happens.
I select add Google account, enter email and password and then it just exits to the account manager.
I tried login in from he Google app and it said "something went wrong and you need to login again"
Has anyone else had this problem?
