New update released - Samsung Galaxy S10 Lite Guides, News, & Discussion

Just got a new update today with camera improvements and February security patch

Please let us know if there are any significant improvements. Especially in camera.

No improvements noticable in low light pictures. Daylight pictures were decent anyway.

UHD @4k60fps is definitely welcome. Same for Super Steady mode on 4k30fps.
After updating, I'm getting a better success rate on the fingerprint sensor.
I hope they release Super Steady mode for 4k60fps too.

Thanks.
Did you notice any other camera improvements? Especially night mode and video quality (aside from stabilization).
Did you install gcam?

So, night mode with gcam has the same results as night mode with stock cam? If so, its a bummer.
Apologies for insisting, but there is absolutely no feedback available for gcam results on the S10 lite.

This might be true for other phones too but super steady video mode makes the image a lot darker than usual.

Just wondering..why in indonesia not yet receive update

The firmware seems to have been released for Spain only - https://www.sammobile.com/samsung/g...e/SM-G770F/PHE/download/G770FXXU2BTD2/330460/

Does anyone know if the One UI 2.1 update will help improve the camera significantly? Anyone updated their s10 lite and been ablw to test this?

New update one UI 2.1
I'm interested too, if there is even a marginal improvement to camera, I will buy it

Camera Improvements ?

New update for me to EE unlocked UK.
Says it includes camera and fingerprint improvements plus April security patch, 1.6gb.

Is anyone from Europe the link for the latest update of the s10 lite device Did the update solve the green screen problem with the dark mode I have one end of the screen when the lighting is down, it tends to turn green and it's a problem with the device Can anyone give me a picture of the latest update information arrived in Europe
update sent to the European region solve this problem? Note that my device is on January update until this moment I have not received any update Can I download and install an update manually without a computer and without Odin like the Chinese devices?

Still not recieved any update for India region. Anyone else in Inida got it?

Samsung apparently paused updates in India during lockdown, they have now resumed updates. Maybe next month S10 Lite will finally be updated.

Got the update in India today, it's the same April update as Spain got earlier.
No noticeable camera improvements but I liked the new single take camera mode.

Gcam HDR+ on the S9?

Hey guys, really considering the S9 but will likely be modding it a bit.
If anyone's got it and doesn't mind testing quickly, does Gcam HDR+ work on either SD or Exynos variants? I believe the one from this thread is the most up-to-date.
Seriously hoping we'll eventually be able to pick which aperture to use in Gcam

Visit this site and download every version of the app. I am using on my LG G5 and it's working very well. I have tested it on samsung galaxy s7 with exynos and also worked very well.

Thanks, but yeah I have tested extensively on my S7 and know how well it works. I was just wondering if it works as well on the S9, which I don't have.
Doesnt work... Just tested it on Exynos 9+
Latest version (V8) force closes. However, version 7 seems to work fine.
Thanks for testing guys. I just bought mine so will post my tests after Tuesday.
I just get a black screen when trying pretty much any settings combo, what settings are you using?

Same here. V8 and recently released 8.1 FC immediately on the S9+, but V7 works fine.

I don't use it. It was merely for testing purposes. I've always been happy with Samsung's stock camera.
I think GCam works way better with Snapdragon models.

what makes you think that?
I have heard it was working better on exynos most of the time
unless you are talking about only s9
The one I use is MGC_5.1.016_7.0+C2API_v.1.3c_AllinOne.apk, HDR+ works fine and makes a noticable difference in certain scenarios, best of both
All others with portrait mode enabled either black screen or force close.

Unfortunately i don't take that many photos, they're mostly of my dog
It works well enough for me on the Exynos s9 plus but i can;t compare to the s7
No portrait mode currently
That port doesnt apply post processing...
Not any works in Galaxy s9 like the miniuser one in s8
I tried some version from the site and that you all said on the s9+ exynos but very buggy and almost dont work...
there is some stable version+settings that work well?with portrait and all?
the samsung camera app is suck in term of colors and some "pop"

Seletive focus by Samsung

Samsung in some countries just released the december security patch with some camera features:
https://www.sammobile.com/news/galaxy-a5-a7-2017-update-brings-selfie-focus-other-camera-features/
But today I receive the february patch and after all it don't come with the seletive focus.
If samsung already port the function, it may be easy to share with al the users who dont have the update.
can someone port the features for us?
??? If you are on February update that means that you had December update so what's the problem? If December security patch had the selfie focus, that means that every update will have it + the new features or so.

"There’s no dual camera setup on the 2017 A series models, so this mode is just a take on the Selective focus mode seen on Samsung’s flagship phones." As far as I understand, there is no selective focus on A Series 2017. Selfie focus is just some form of it on the front camera.

Russia got this update in December, i received this update on end of February. i think you will receive it with march security patch. btw it's not selective focus it's selfie focus. we cannot manually focus some area ,it automatically detect our face and get turn our selfie into a portrait by adding a bokeh effect.

Other companies also experience it. Not all. Though we are android one but afaik we are the only sd665 who has a10... Development really is a pain not to mention pandemic involved. At least they are doing something...
Funny I got an update of 32.69M.
Not much difference.

If coming from 10 thats is small. Because it is only bug fixes. E.g. return of xiaomi branded sensors so fp icon appears when picking up phones and EIS now works

Odd. The update for me appears as a 1.33 GB.
Update is 32,69mb for me (already on android 10 april update). Gonna report back if I find any fixes/bugs.
edit: as expected it didn't fix system wide long exposure photos limit set to 0,3 s max.
If they don't see it as a bug but a "feature reduction" then am gonna go china and make them eat raw bats.

There are plenty of new phones with SDM665 running Android 10 just fine, the Motorola G line and Nokia 5.3 do come to mind. SDM665 is nothing but a slightly tweaked SDM660, which is running Android 10 just fine in plenty of other devices. My Mi A2 runs Android 10 just great! (not with Xiaomi's stock ROM, though...)
The pandemic is just the latest excuse in a long-list of excuses. Did they have a pandemic last year when they effed up the Mi A2 upgrade? Did they have a pandemic when they effed up the Mi A1 upgrades? Let's just face facts, Xiaomi doesn't give a rats arse about the Android One phones. They just (barely) fulfill their contractual obligations so that Google doesn't force them out of the certification.

Well there are things done right and some things are just hacks that when people use both they are the same thats why sometimes custom rom fixes first. Well another thing android one is less profitable than miui

new update is pretty good for me...

october 2020 patch OTA

Hello,
I am trying to stick with OTA updates with this device. Has anyone in the UK received the update? Previous updates have been quick to come through, but there is no sign of this one.
Also, for the European version (non snapdragon), are there camera improvements with this update?
I have an unlocked Note 10+ 5G (N976B) in the UK and got the update this morning. No real big changes. Just a security update and performance/stability improvements.
Yep, got it. No mention of camera improvements like the snapdragon variant
I use the GCam port the majority of the time so not too bothered about the camera. I'm not that impressed with the picture quality from stock camera in any case. The difference between the Snapdragon and Exynos variants is a discussion in itself. If the stock camera had a bit more customisation over image compression and produced outputs similar to GCam I would gladly use it. I'm aware there is the zero cam mod but like you, I want to stay stock and get OTA updates. I'm very familiar with rooting having had Pixel and OnePlus phones in the past. Samsung provides quite a bit of customisation now so root is not really needed to do some things the majority of the time.
I've been feeling that the battery has immensely improved on the latest OTA update (Oct patch) - Exynos model.

Question Software update

Will my Samsung galaxy s21 FE (SM-G990B/DS) will receive one ui 5 update? Is it USA locked version?
Exynos version, don't know which region, it should be the region where you bought it from, check software update update is rolled out.

G990B/DS is Snapdragon processor, Dual sim, Europe/International version, not USA.
Samsung S21fe USA versions have the model code G990U.
To find out the which country's software version you have, go to settings> about phone> Software information> Service provider software version. There you can find a 3digit code on the 2nd line, that's the CSC (Country Specific Code) of your phone.
Since your model is G990B, only four country's are yet to have android 13 update till date: SEK (Ukrain), SER (Russia), SKZ (Kazakhstan) & CAU (Georgia). You must have one of these region's phone.

I haven't noticed any improvement but I have to say I haven't tested it so much.
I feel my phone more responsive, battery life is (very) slightly better, I think that's all.
To me, not THE century update, but since Android 7-8 we got a well rounded OS harder to significantly improve.

Thanks for the update. It is dissapointing to see they have not focussed on addressing issues and making the photograpy aspect a priorty for FE users...Let's hope we can get further camera updates that will improve this for us!
