Enable Wifi Calling [Working Tested on My Device] - ASUS ZenFone 6 (2019) Guides, News, & Discussion

@HomerSp over in Rog Phone II Forums figured out how to Enable Wifi Calling / VoLte / VoWifi:
Root Needed
Make Backups as needed and Follow the Guide:
Link: https://forum.xda-developers.com/ro...-volte-vowifi-v2-t4028073/page16#post82126085
Guide does not seem to have any destructive tweaks but just be safe and do your due dilligence.
Since the Rog 2 and Zenfone are similar the guide works for both phones

Yes root needed cause build prop needs to be edited but he did put a adb option so you can try that and the dial code after and see it sticks after a reboot

[TOOL] == Secret Menu Exploit ==

YOU MUST BE ROOTED AND HAVE A ROOTED KERNEL INSTALLED FOR THIS TO WORK! NON-AOSP ROMS ONLY!
T-Mobile rooted insecure kernel HERE
AT&T rooted insecure kernel HERE
INTRODUCTION:
I originally was building a rom that enabled serial port in an attempt to repair IMEI but decided to make a universal tool to enable the exploit instead.
You can use this new menu to access a lot of new internal settings and you can enable DIag mode (serial port) for reading and writing settings via PST.
Should work on all sgs3 phones.
DOWNLOAD:
GALAXY S III EXPLOIT TOOL
INSTRUCTIONS:
-Simply run the tool with you phone connected and follow the instructions, its a one click tool. Enjoy.
If you appreciate this and would like to make a donation you can do so here:

UPDATE:
Simple no-root solution finished for backup/restore of IMEI finished!

I haven't needed this yet, knock on wood, but you're efforts are greatly appreciated

This video will show you the exploit being ran and a serial port being established.
This is a big step as this enables reading the IMEI (among many other settings) via PST. Normally we can simply 'write' back whatever IMEI we want at this point; but that is not the case with this phone. When we find how to write back the IMEI, the IMEI issue will be resolved.
So,
Q: Is this a full IMEI solution?
A: No, this is me posting my work in progress along with a one click tool so that the community can help finish it up.
keep it up man, thank you so much for your efforts, :highfive:
hopefully with your work, i can start flashing without feeling worried instead of staying on stock forcefully !
Sorry for the post right under bro, i didn't know you were making a reserve, maybe the mod can flip them.

This is very interesting with the imei thing. I used to have Nextel Motorola's and there was radio service software that could be found that would be able to change the imei no. It would be great if this could do the same for people who lost their imei. Hopefully someone who lost their imei could try this and see.

I am using Ktoonse's insecure kernel on stock rom, understood Geek's instructions to mean any insecure rooted kernel, but I guess only stock rooted ones? Hmmm, could be the problem. I wonder if it would be safe to flash ATT insecure kernel to my rogers phone?

Tool sort of works. Just scared to change anything. From Test->Advanced the app force-closes Phone.apk and then hangs. Saw NV and EFS under different menus. So there is hope that IMEI and carrier unlock can be achieved.

Not ALL options are specifically for our device, these are general Samsung engineering options. That's why you will see some options relating to CDMA and our devices are obviously not CDMA capable.
i have the stock bell insecure kernel flashed and this tool will not open on my phone, oh well i guess i don't need it until we can restore imei anyways
@Geek: Are you still working on getting this tool to write imei numbers? Is it possible? Looks like other progress on the imei issue is negligible. Also one guy who had Samsung fix his phone said they had to replace the whole board.
Finally, I propose if you are successful at getting this to fix the imei problem, we all each pitch in 20 bucks? Money well spent imo. There are enough here craving a solution that donation amounts could become meaningful quickly.

[Q] Rooting USA Galaxy note 2

So, I was told to do Dr. ketans guide but i saw no files for USA models...
All i want is to root my phone, keep my files (preferably...) and enable the ability to install Google Wallet that works (since i am on tmobile...) and record my phone calls.
Any help or location of files so i can do the Xposed framework would really be helpful. i am not interested in custom roms or anything, but if possible, I would like CWM for backup and debugging purposes.

as you've mentioned its USA model i am having a 99% guarantee that itsN7100 Model
Please confirm if its N7100 model if yes Please follow the guide of Dr.Ketan ,
Usa dont have a Stock Rom for them so you could flash any Stock rom will support your device.
but 1st step after room make a ROM backup of yours.
So essentially I can root then use any of those? Like a UK one? I wanna keep my 4g and such...

Q&A for Permanent SIM Unlock for LS980 (OTA, APN) JB 4.2.2, KK 4.4.2
Some developers prefer that questions remain separate from their main development thread to help keep things organized. Placing your question within this thread will increase its chances of being answered by a member of the community or by the developer. Thanks for understanding and for helping to keep XDA neat and tidy!
The Best
Thank u. The Best tutorial to LS980. I'm from Brazil, and can unlock to use operator Vivo. And all the other tutorials worked. Thank you so much, I thought I had thrown money away buying the LS980 for use in Brazil.
I have a US lg-g2 ls980 with CM 11 4.4.4. It is originally a Sprint phone. I have a SIM from Straight Talk that is only compatible with ATT phones. I changed the default network type to GSM/LTE and now my phone recognizes my SIM. Calling works just fine but texting does not work. Does this mean my phone/SIM is already unlocked? What steps do I have to take to fix text messaging? Thanks.

Any other method that did not involve build.prop edits and sql lite db edits???
Try to put the phone in GSM/UTMS mode at the start and then follow procedure skipping the step of editing the build.prop. Not sure if it will work as the GSM is locked. Please revert back if it works as this information is important to many others.

Extreme Syndicate ROM Discussion Thread

Hey Everyone!
I am at it again! I have made leaps today with my custom ROM.
It is not ready for release just yet but wanted to get a thread started for when it is ready, to get some opinions and further clarification.
Required:
1) Any G930 US Variant
2) Must be on the G930U PEH firmware prior to my ROM
3) Rooted with Flashfire
4) I highly recommend you know how to push apks. It will start out lightly debloated but will be extremely debloated by the time I finish!
What will it contain in v1?
1) Pre rooted
2) Debloated
3) Xposed
4) V4A
5) Might be missing stuff for v1, wait and see!
Suggestions?
Please post early suggestions below. They might not be considered for build 1 but will all beconsidered as we go.
Questions?
1) Maybe someone can chime in but to my knowledge the U firmware will work on any US variant S7? I am asking for clarification since my reasoning of using the U firmware is for it to be useable on all US variants to avoid having to develop for every variant separately (I dont have time for this.)

1. Will you provide links to or host a copy of the G930U PEH firmware?
2. I suppose that since this is the universal firmware, Verizon's Mobile Hotspot provisioning will not prevent us from using Native Mobile Hotspotting....can you confirm...and if not, can you apply a a modded version of the Mobile Hotspot software that bypasses the provisioning (similar to what psouza has done with his VZW debloat script for PE1)

Is the goal here to remedy the battery life issues and CPU hangs that the eng boot/root process created? I'm excited!

The zips provided by psouza are for the PE1 build only. He mentioned somewhere in his thread that it has to be compiled for each build.

essentially I shoot for an extremely debloated rom which typically does include better speed and battery life but that is more of a side effect imo

Not necessarily. some of it does work.. ideally however i like to bake things in.. the less zips to flash the better.. i wont worry too much as i dont release roms that dont work well to begin with

The fix/fix+debloat zip that disable Verizon's Wi-Fi hotspot tethering provisioning does so by writing a modified framework-res.apk to the device, therefor it needs to match the firmware version. The patch is not complicated though (it's literally just changing/clearing two XML values), so anyone could decompile a different version, patch the xml, recompile, re-sign, and bundle that for any Verizon firmware version.

About this
ro.telephony.default_network=9
Changing 9 to 10 in this line shouldnt change anything, it is just the preferred network AFAIK.
Code:
0 WCDMA preferred, drop to GSM if it's not usable
1 GSM Only.
2 WCDMA only (saves battery since it only searches for 3G, no GSM or LTE)
3 for GSM/WCMDA autoswitching to the strongest signal
4 for cdma
7 for Global LTE/CDMA
8 CDMA mode preferred
9 LTE preferred with 3G and 2G
10 LTE preferred, CDMA and WCDMA, 3G, 2G all available
13 seems to have every baseband choice available
[\CODE]
It should be the same as type *#*#4636#*#*. in phone dialer
I had to downgrade to kitkat then LTE worked then i upgraded to lollipop by kdz method, rooted with one click root tool. Then downloaded autorec lollipop d802 from playstore and installed twrp. Upgraded twrp to latest version( very important ). Then i installed lineage os with latest gapps and finally LTE working fine Reliance JIO is best in India for 4G data and i had really tough time using it on lg g2 d802[emoji14]
