@david1350,
With the stock Samsung Message app the only way to disable AOD and lockscreen wake up is:
-open messages
-tap 3 dots menu (top right corner)
-select settings
-select notifications
-select New messages
-scroll down an select lock screen
-select "Do not show notifications" instead of "hide content"
Be forewarned, though. The downside of this is that you will receive no new message notification on your lockscreen.

There must be an other setting. Mine don't behave like this with notifications and edge lightning on, and AOD off.

Yes, the official stock one.

@Nastrahl,
Interesting. Thanks. Any ideas on what settings might impact this?

SMS notification

Is there a way to disable the SMS/MMS icon that appears in my notifications? I believe it's the default one because I have uninstalled all third party applications.
Even when I click on it and read any new messages, it does not disappear unless I click "clear" in the notifications drop-down.

Go into your stock messaging app. Find settings by pressing menu! Scroll to received Notifications. disable it now.... There you go, the little message icon shouldnt appear.

lol.. thanks for the help, but I've disabled everything on the stock messaging app. I don't know what it is that keeps making the little message icon still appear.

On your phone to go: Menu, Settings, Personalize (or hit the Personalize button from the home screen).
At the bottom, where it says "Personalize Sound", hit "Notification Sound"
On this menu you can set the sounds for the following notifications:
Default Notification
Message
Calendar
Email
Hope that helps.

Xposed LED control module not working

So I can't stand this 9 second wait in between blinks so I installed xposed framework and the LED control module.
I cannot get this working correctly? Anybody have this working successfully?
If enable per say the messaging one. When I get a message it does not work. If I turn the screen on, then back off, it will work...but obviously that isn't right.
Any thoughts/suggestions? Thanks everyone!
Verizon G3, rooted
Well I finally figured it out. In the phones standard notification settings, every option needs to be checked. I had unchecked incoming calls and downloaded apps. So once I checked every option in there it is now working! Yay! Not sure why but that fixed it
Are you running the standard version only or unlocked version?
I could only get the messaging app to correctly show LED notification, i couldn't get the phone app to display LED for missed call. Could you?

Standard version of led control with email, gmail, messaging checked for apps. Gmail notifications. Don't work but I've read that they don't so idk....at least the messaging one works now. Would like gmail too as well but not sure how to fix that

Having same problem. No tone. Just icon ontop. App is not sleeping or restricted at all
It is not a perfect solution but use the Edge Lighting. It will light up the entire edges green if you choose applications colour and show a popup with the message which can be interacted with. As an addition you can turn AOD on and it will show an icon with the notification.

Edge lighting shows my messages

I have edge lighting on. I kind of like it, but every time I receive a whatsapp message it shows the content of the message on a pop up along with notification. I can't find a way to disable this. I want to keep the light, not the pop up. Any ideas? Thanks.
Go to settings and search for pop up, check if you have smart pop up on..

That is pop up view. Which when you enable will make the app pop up in a little window (pop up view)
What you have are heads up notificarions, which you will have to disable manually for each app. Or you could use system ui tuner and completely disable heads up notifications
You are right, but how can I disable it?

You have to have the popup on for edge lightning to work. It won't work for notifications that just show on the status bar.
Hi to everyone,
I bought galaxy s20 one week ago and I have the same problem with the edge lightning. for example with the messenger app it does not appear the notification. Also I realized a delay to receive income email on gMail.
