I used this one for my XT1952-4...
The build is for XT1952-2 (posted by αℓ૯×12345) but I went ahead and tried it. So far (couple days now) it is working pretty well. I've connected it to my WiFi and I've been surfing the internet. Also, Google Play Store works.
Hope this is helpful:
https://forum.xda-developers.com/g7-play/development/gsi-lineageos-17-1-modified-t4075035
I followed the directions in that thread; I already had the bootloader unlocked (obviously, right?) I also had TWRP installed using the method in this thread:
https://forum.xda-developers.com/g7-play/how-to/how-to-successfully-install-twrp-g7-play-t3979701
Read down the thread a little bit. In the directions, Linuxassassin leaves out what turned out to be an important step for me, which is after I fastbooted the TWRP image linked to in that thread, I needed to select Wipe from the TWRP menu and then Format Data. I needed to do that to remove the encryption from the file system so that it was usable for the rest of the steps for installing TWRP. As already stated, it is working pretty well at the moment.

Edit...

Sorry folks. New here; don't know how to edit my posts ...Edit: Now there's an edit button... huh. OK.
Ran into a little problem if you are rebooting from TWRP when the above stuff has been done.
When rebooting from TWRP using the TWRP image in the above thread, and it gives you the options to "Prompt to install TWRP app if not installed" and "Install as system app" be sure NOT to install them. Press the button that says "Do Not Install." If you do install them, it causes the boot to hang up on the "android" screen. I fixed the problem by going back into TWRP, wiping the system partition, and reinstalling the custom ROM image.
Anyway, hope this helps someone.

What ROM are you porting? Id be willing to test on my RETGB (XT1952-1 iirc) as the firmware is quite similar between devices.

It will be custom stock. I will grab your firmware as well. my upload is slow but it's now Wednesday, tonight I'll finish them and upload them. Are you able to flash zips with your recovery as of now? Any requests or suggestions on root?

Ill test

I've been sick so I'm a little behind. I'll include the phh su for testing purposes until we can get magisk working. Expect an update on the ROM's soon. I'm building for 4 different models so it's taking me longer than i anticipated.

S9 still stuck in Apr 2018 security patch, no updates whatsoever...

Hi, my Samsung S9 (SM-G960F, dual SIM) was purchased in May 2018 from Dubai (fully unlocked) and is being used in India. There were no carrier restrictions at the time of purchase, it was purchased fully unlocked.
Even today, it still shows Android Security Patch Level at 1/April/2018. I have enrolled into Samsung Pie beta, and I try everyday to download software manually, but no update has come, either in security patch or in software version. The details are given below:
When I try to update software manually by going to software update - download updates manually, it says 'The latest updates have already been installed. Current version : G960FXXU1ARD4/G960FOXM1ARCA/G960FXXU1ARD6'
When I go to settings - software information, the android version is 8.0.0, samsung experience version is 9.0, baseband version is G960FXXU1ARD6, build number : R16NW.G960FXXU1ARD4, kernel version : 4.9.59-13138374-QB17882910 [email protected] #1 Tue Apr 24 11:50:17 KST2018, android security patch level : 1 April 2018
I have even downloaded Samsung Smart Switch and tried downloading latest software but no use. The message I get there is 'Your software is up to date : RD4(INS)'
Please help. At this rate, I am not sure if I will receive any updates at all, even security patches. I dont know what is the problem.
Thanks in advance.
Flash it manually with ODIN, loads of guides all over XDA if you look

Yea, just flash as normal, your bootloader will change to version 2 so you will not be able to downgrade back to that current firmware you are running as it is version 1

doubt about android radio

good night, I have an android radio bought on aliexpress, is the seller of the podofo store, anuque panlelo also sells it as model S1.
The data are the following:
System: K6_01_IH_V2.0.1_20181012
Kernel: 3.4.67
MCU: CM_18.02.07_09.28
APP: MT1002_V1.0.9
Compilation number: ALPS KK1.MP1.V2.11
The manufacturer says it's Android 6, but I think it's a lie and it's Kit Kat.
My question is whether this radio could be updated to a newer version of Android, maybe 7.1.2 or Android 8.0
Thank you.

Then, dont can update?
I think I bought the same one from Amazon, Podofo logo on boot.
System: K6_01_IH_V2.0.1_20181012
Kernel: 3.4.67
Compilation number: ALPS KK1.MP1.V2.11
If an update is not possible, is there any alternative roms I could use? The one that was provided with the unit is buggy af. Any tips on how to reboot this thing into recovery or download mode would be very welcomed.
Just found out rooting is possible with kingroot app, I was also able to reboot it into recovery and download mode. Volume +/- and power buttons did not work in recovery, so did touchscreen, it does not power down when you remove the key from ignition, i had to poke reset. fastboot screen lasted only a couple secs, i did not have anything connected.

How to get an S9 G960U1 rooted?

I tried today to root this phone in all sorts of ways, but mainly I got stuck at the first step of getting a custom recovery, I found the twrp files for my phone, but when I tried to flash the file in Odin I got an error of "secure check fail : recovery"
I tried different versions of Odin.
I also tried t use fastboot, but it couldn't recognize my device, (adb devices shows my device, while fastboot doesn't [and of course I'm in download mode])
I've tried all sorts of drivers, from universal drivers to the specific one for my device from the Samsung website, fastboot still didn't see me device...
I have no idea what to do now...
I managed to get an official stock firmware update, that's all I was able to do...

AFAIK, root isnt possible for the 960U's, only the 960F's
I think I saw someone write they were able to root it.. though I couldn't find it again for some reason...
Also, it's supposed to be an UNLOCKED phone with the U1 software... I don't understand how or why it cannot be rooted (or change to a custom ROM)...
Hope someone know how to get it done

"Unlocked" means carrier SIM unlocked. Different thing.
All Qualcomm Snapdragon variants have locked bootloaders that prevent rooting. Except the Chinese variant - the lone exception.
There was an exploit found last year that allowed rooting for one of the Qualcomm variants but can't remember which, and newer firmware may have since blocked the exploit.
Is it worth trying to install firmware (official) for the g9600 phone (China Snapdragon)? And from there if that was successful, would I be able to use CROM to OEM unlock?

nope. it will very likely fail at the Odin flash process. you can if you want to, but im betting it will fail. Hell, i even had to use a modded Odsin just to flash another carriers firmware on mine, but it worked like a charm. That being said, it was all within the same basic model info, what youre proposing isnt
I'll try the modded Odin, if its a fail, I'll probably give up

I'd really like to be able to get this phone onto the Verizon network. I have the exact same software numbers as the OP and am trying to open my phone up to work on Verizon. I've seen bits and pieces that others have done it but never have found the complete successful procedure.
Anyone??

Confused Noob In Search Of Expert Charity Case

Hey All I've got an interesting one that I would love some feedback/help on...
When I got the phone it showed the following within Android...
Model: SM-G960F
Baseband version - G960FXXU2BRK2
Build # R16NW.G960FXXU2BRK2
AP, CP, CSC = G960FXXU2BRK2
Android 8.0.0 (Oreo)
However, the box showed that it should have been...
Model: SM-G960U
SW-Version G960USQS2ARF4
Phone previously worked on Verizon (even though the SW-Version from research shows T-Mobile or US Cellular?)
I wasn't sure what to believe about this device so I downloaded the PhoneInfo app and it showed the Origin CSC as DCM (aka Japan) and the Snapdragon processer. Upon further investigation I got the wild idea that the device was actually the SC-02K (Galaxy S9). So I downloaded the latest Android 10 source code for that from Frija and used Odin to install it. Upgrade went smoothly! But now I show the following...
Model: SC-02K
Baseban version - SC02KOMU1CTG1
Build # QP1A.190711.020.SC02KOMU1CTG1
SW-Version SAOMC_SC-02K_DCM_DCM_QQ_0008 DCM/DCM/KDI
Android 10 (Q) June 1, 2020 Security Patch
So my real questions are as follows for starters...
What device is this?
How do I get it back to normal?
Is there a way to change the CSC of the device or is that model/CSC firmware specific?
Does that require root?
Can I put a custom GSI on it? (ideally phusson with Android 11)
Goal is to have it running Android 11 to test the new certificate issues/features of Android 11 on WiFi before mass device roll out of Android 11

If you were able to flash the odin without any errors then thats the true hardware for that device, I have seen sellers converting these with phones into SM-G960F to get more money out of it, but they actually are Japanese models. In your case try this twrp

ONLY FOR Qualcomm SM-G9650 Team Win Recovery Project 3.x, or twrp3 for short, is a custom recovery built with ease of use and customization in mind. Its a fully touch driven user interface no more volume rocker or power buttons to mash. The GUI...

Thanks for the feedback! Any idea how the sellers convert them to the SM-G960F? I'd be interested in trying to attempt that for the learning experience.
For other's stuck on this I finally was able to get this ROM working on my device...
