Chinese K30 5G in Europe (Italy) - Redmi K30 5G Questions & Answers

Hi,
As for 4g phones, 5G One can be used in Europe, and in details in Italy. For 4g Chinese phone missed band 20, what is for 5g?
Thanks

I am checking that for germany right now, i see some missing. More than i have expected.
Germany will use the old UMTS frequencies in Germany for 4G / 5G.
So i am missing for 4G b8, b20, b28, b32 and for 5G n1, n28.
10min search, may be missing some.
Italy
Italy using for 4G/5G (wikipedia)
b1,b3,b7,b8,b20,b32, n78, n258
K30 Provides (chinese Website translation)
n41, n78
b1,b3,b5,b7,b8,b34,b38,b39,b40,b41

Hello , how we can unlock the band 20 ?

Is that even possible anymore?

I hope yes, me i try to find a solution. You have european rom version on your K30 5G ?

@xedthecreative We can check all supported bands and combos from modem log. Xiaomi have nice method via CIT. I have made instruction https://mt-tech.fi/en/how-to-get-4g-supported-ca-combinations-from-your-android-phone/ (scroll down to Xiaomi -> New method section). Can you test if this work with your device?
I try build database of supported 4G & 5G Bands and Combos: https://cacombos.com/ - if you like help me to build better database, you can send logs to [email protected]

Ciao, hai poi risolto? ANch'io l'ho comprato di recente.

It's fake that you can unlock the LTE missing bands: it's a hardware limitation.
I am using the K30 5G in Spain and it works pretty good, I almost see no difference with mobile data with my previous phone, the LG G4, and besides I am prepared to receive 5G signals in my city
If you guys finally decide to buy this phone, buy the K30 5G variants, as it also has some more 4G bands than the normal K30 4G variant.
In Spain we use B1, B3, B7, B8 and B20 4G bands, and picasso only misses the B20 band.

Redmi Note 5 China LTE Bands?

Hello
I plan on buying a Redmi Note 5, but I usually find the Chinese version 20$ to 30$ cheaper than the global one. I've read that there's no difference between the two except the LTE bands. My carrier uses the B3 and B20 LTE bands, can you guys confirm if the chinese version has these bands? I searched on Gsmarena but I got confused as it's listing a lot of countries there such as Taiwan and Indonesia.
Thanks!
Chinese version doesn't have LTE B4 and B20

So it does have LTE B3 band? Does that mean my 4G will work?
Sure it will work as long as the antenna you're connected to supports that frequency. Basically, you will lose LTE signal in every areas your provider only has B20 antennas. Maybe that's only a few, then again that also may be the most common configuration. You'd need a map of the network to know exactly how bad it'll be. Unless you know for sure, pay the extra bucks and forget about it.

Note 10+ 5G

Hi All,
i want to ask if anyone know if sm-976n (Korean version) note 10+ 5g will work on any 5g network around world. i live in UAE and i have option to get SM-976N . we do have 5g network here but not sure if phone wil support or not.
thanks
i did my own researh awhile ago..
TL;DR:
N976N will work with current 5G in UAE, but around the world support is kinda fine in GCC and most of Europe, otherwise no go.
Long Answer:
N976N supports 5GNR band n78 only.
5G Bands around the world so far:
....
UAE:
n78 (also all GCC uses this 5G band)
n258 planned (NOT SUPPORTED BY N976N)
Europe:
n78 (plus some random n20,n38's)
mmWave bands details are still too early
China:
N976N will NOT work with current Chinese 5G networks
n38
n78 being built
n79
USA:
N976N will NOT work with ALL US 5G networks.
n41: Sprint
n71: Upcoming for T-Mobile
n257: T-Mobile
n260: T-Mobile, AT&T
n261: Verizon
Japan:
N976N will NOT work with ALL JP 5G networks.
n77
n79
n257
Also no phone currently supports 5G SA (Stand Alone) standard.
....
kinda shows how early 5G is at the moment...

Global ROM in China?

Hi guys, I would like to buy the S20 Ultra version in China from Samsung Store, to get the Snapdragon, but will be the Chinese ROM on it. Do you know if is possible to request to Samsung to have the Global ROM version? Or to install it at the moment of the purchase? Otherwise how can I solve this problem? Will be easy to do it by myself? Since is a expensive smartphone I don't want make any mistake..
Thanks for your help!!

Likely not. Hong Kong should get the SnapDragon. The Global model should be Exynos. Can't interchange the ROMs for it. Needs to be confirmed, but likely The snap dragon will behave better RF and battery wise. Maybe not a huge difference as with some older chipsets, but something to keep in mind. While Hong Kong may not get the OTA updates as frequently, you get a dual sim SnapDragon model.
hope this helps.

The Ultra international version is likely SM-G988F/DS, where the SnapDragon Hong Kong/Taipei version could be SM-G9880/DS.

The chinese versions typically have wireless bands that aren't supported in the US so I wouldn't use that. However, the Korean Version *will* use the snapdragons this year, and should be completely unlocked. Those should be fully compatible. I bought a Korean Note 8 because that was the only one which came in 256gb and the rare blue color and I've had no issues. It was Exynos, though. I'm hoping a lot of people in the developer community will buy this unlocked snapdragon version but I may not be so lucky. I might be forced to purchase the european "global" version.
Perfect!! Thanks, I will buy it in South Korea. Unfortunately they did it in only 2 colours this time...

Not sure which spec sheet you have seen. The SM-G9880 from Hong Kong should cover all the North American bands. AWS may be missing, I see it on some lists and not on others. I would be surprised if the Korean N version is better than a global F or Hong Kong’s 9880 version. I expect the 9880 to be similar to the U version but in dual sim format.

Yeah, I could be mistaken. My hope is just that with the Korean version also using snapdragon this year, people will be more open to buying that version over the International F. Development should be much easier and last longer with a snapdragon.

I hear you. I wish the Exynos was better, we’ll see what this new SoC will do, but the biggest hurdle as I understand it, it’s licensing and regulatory. I’m sure SAMSUNG would prefer to make a single version for the globe and just apply CSCs for customizing. To me, carrier and market demands are crazy. Single va dual sim, price, customizations, band support and features. If you put dual sim for everyone, a region will ask for a cheaper single sim. There’s no way around it, it’s insane.

Here’s the official band list from the Samsung China e-store. The 5G bands listed are more limited than what the Techwalls site says for GM-9880 (doesn’t support the US 5G bands listed there). The 5G bands listed are the same as the China Note 10+ 5G version, so it might be right. I was hoping it supported all the same US model 5G bands, but not sure now. If anyone has an actual G9880, sharing the real bands via an app would be great.

I think one of these apps will give you information of which 5G bands you are connected to. I thought there was an app where u could select different bands and force it, but maybe not or it has to be done manually. It looks like you are on T-mobile, so maybe you could try different areas/towers and different bands to test. On the Play store, there are also a few other 5G apps with maps of the different towers that can help you get close to test the high or low 5G bands. Thanks for your contribution. I’m really curious if both the high bands and low bands for T-mobile are supported on the 9880.

I live in Taiwan, the phone model is SM-G9800
Taiwan ’s current telecom operators have not yet provided 5G services
If you need to provide other information, I will try my best to assist you
same issue here... got TGY on my 9800, i live in Switzerland and should get 5g or even 5g+ but nothing... i guess it's a frequency issue.
Now my question is : can we change the frequencies of the 5g on the phone?

How are you able to get that? What app is that ?
My model is the sm-g9880 Taiwan firmware.
I tried to download the hongkong firmware but it didn't change the CSC for some reason. I did a full reset.
I thought maybe it's the firmware that's not approved for 5g yet because apparently Taiwan hasn't activated 5g yet.

My G9880 was originally csc BRI but I have changed the csc to TGY using Samkey as 5G hasn't been activated on the BRI model yet but was activated on the last update for TGY.

S20+ 5G SM-G986B/DS cannot pick up 5G signal in China

Not sure if anyone experienced this. I bought my S20+ 5G in Sweden (SM-G986B/DS). Recently I'm traveling in China and I noticed that, even there's 5G coverage and i have a sim card which support 5G and i have turned the 5G switch on. I still cannot get 5G signal on my mobile.
I did some search and my carrier is using N78 and SM-G986B/DS supports N1 (2100), N3 (1800), N5 (850), N7 (2600), N8 (900), N28 (700) N40 (2300), N77 (3700), N78 (3500)....So there should not be a problem for my mobile to pick up the signal.
However, a S20+ China/HK version (supports 5G bands N41(2500),N78(3500),N79(4500)) can pick up the 5G signal with same sim card.
So i start suspecting actually there's a lock which preventing my mobile to pick up 5G signal. I read some report that some China version of 5G mobile, such as 1+8 china version or Xiaomi 10, also cannot pick up 5g signal in Europe, even they share the same band...
And that's really getting annoying... Is there a lock? It's a hardware lock or software lock?
In Samsung phone there is Carrier Policy limit bands, features etc per carrier like other devices. I have instruction how you could check supported bands, carrier aggregation and 5G support connected-network with Samsung devices: https://mt-tech.fi/en/how-to-get-4g...ions-from-your-android-phone/#Samsung_Devices . Without modem log hard to say.
S20+ China/HK-version: https://cacombos.com/device?model=SM-G9860 works at least in China Mobile 5G-network.
Based on your observation of the carrier bands, I'd say the mobile providers in China are using using either N41(2500) or N79(4500) for 5G. Checking the list of bands used by country on Wiki, China Mobile is using n41 (and maybe n79 as well), China Telecom is using N78 and China Unicom is also using N78.
Which mobile company are you using?

This could be possible situation. If you like to get modem log from your device there can see if it support 5G in used network. That is only way. Here is instruction: https://mt-tech.fi/en/how-to-get-4g...tions-from-your-android-phone/#Exynos_devices .

Can't list ant 5G mobile carrier

I'm start thinking my on board 5G modem is not propelly working as I have never connected to any 5G spot .
Of corse I have installed a 5G SIM and the carrier give me a 5G connection but no way to make It connected to a 5G network . The strange thing is that I didnt have any 5G network listed (if I try manually to force the device to find any networks available). I did this test in the center of many big italian cities but I got the same result: only 4G+ or 4G networks were listed.
I have tapped the 5G prefferred network
I did a recovery
I have the last original Rom installed.
Is there any sw to detect if the onboard modem is working propelly ?
Thank you in Advance for your cooperation.

Check what band use your 5g network, n77 or.. I can't remember...
Then check if your phone support that band... There is a difference between Chinese network or Europe..
Check out this thread, it's for Poco but the same point
Poco F2 Pro only support N77 and N78 5G
For Europe in future you need N1 and N28, without that you only get 5G in hotspots. So if you from Europe and care about 5G it is a bad idea to get a Poco F2 Pro. Source: https://www.poco.net/de/poco-f2-pro/specs_m/
