Themes / Apps / Mods [Anxious] OOS v502, Companion v346, True Silent v2, Verizon PU v16 - OnePlus 9 Pro

These modules are made for personal use. If you have an issue it is likely on your end. It's like running OOS 10.5ish w/ OOS 11/Pixel 4 Pixel 5/9 Pro/server side features via a whole lot of sed. The "thoroughness" of this OP is to minimize the need for back and forth between us. All OOS 11-11.2.* should be supported. Remains to be seen what changes with Color OS based OOS.
Anxious OOS v502 features:
(Template - Magisk module installer)
Android 12.1 Emojis, Blurs, Immersive Navbar, Nova Launcher w/ Google Feed, Pixel 5 features (device personalization services, flags, google phone framework, overlays), Premier Tier, 9 Pro Camera
Anxious OOS Companion v346 features:
(Template - MMT-Ex 1.6)
Anxious Kernel Script - Infinite Pills, Infinite Alcohol | Gboard - Faster Voice Typing, Google Lens, M2 (telescoping gif, tenor autocomplete, trending search), No Spacebar Branding, Ogg Opus Encoder, Pill Shape, Pixel Props, SODA, Tenor V2 * Languages (autocomplete, trending term, suggested search term), Tflite (emoji predicition, main word predicition, triggering model), Translate Dictation | Google Duo - In Call Effects w/o FPS Cap, Message Captions, Opus FEC, Outgoing Call Camera Switch, Restrict Low Bandwidth Logging, Video Processing-Sink, VP9 Hardware, 720p (for most things) | Google Phone - Duo Handover, STIR/SHAKEN (carrier/os support required), VVM (all carriers) | Google Photos - Cache Aware Video, Jpeg Backup Quality 100%, New Video Editor Backend/Frontend w/ Export Frame
True Silent v2 features:
(Template - MMT-Ex 1.6)
Silent .ogg file for notifications. Useful for apps like Facebook Messenger that don't respect notification channels properly. Seperate module so less reselecting when debugging anxious module. Also doesn't need to be uninstalled with OTAs.
Verizon Plus Ultra v16 features:
(Template - MMT-Ex 1.6)
Fixes for using Verizon on the 7 Pro.
All feature lists are constantly changing. Not everything is listed. Because sometimes the modules put you front in line for a/b server testing of literally anything Google.
The embedded links for some features are just links to what I consider to be a good enough explainaiton of the feature.
Google is your friend, I am not.
Support:
Basically none. This is made for my personal use. If you don't follow the instructions, you'll probably end up in a non-boot/bootloop.
What I'm Using:
Kernel - Kirisakura 1.3.9 R
Magisk - Stable
Rom - 11.0.4.1.GM21AA (7 Pro)
Do not use Open Beta/AOSP/LOS/etc... with my modules.
There are no special instructions for updating, unless stated otherwise in a release post. The below install instructions are not meant to be followed for updating.
Prerequisites:
You need "Busybox for Android NDK" and I strongly recommend "Cross Compiled Binaries" with sed installed to /system/bin. They are on the magisk module repo.
How to install:
1. Read entire OP. Reread entire OP. Do it again.
2. Install "Overlay Mount Fix". Skip to next step, if it fails to install.
3. Uninstall Google Framework/Phone, and/or Nova Companion apk, if any/all are installed. Go to the Play Store listing for Device Personalization Services and click uninstall, if it's available. Reboot, if you uninstalled any modules. There are probably other modules you should uninstall. But that's your problem, not mine.
4. Install "AnxiousOOS_v*.zip". (Magisk Manager only)
5. Reboot.
6. Install Google Phone as user app, you can use apk from companion module, from apkmirror, or clear Play Store data and then it should be offered by the play store.
7. Clear Play Store data if you didn't in step 6. Then update apps that now have an update in the Play Store.
8. Set up Device Personalization Services, Google Phone, i.e. grant all permissions (including "Draw over other apps" and "Modify system settings"), set as default phone app, spam app (search "spam" in settings), open app and set up available features. Don't forget to check all Settings>Apps and notifications>Special app access and check all of them for the aforementioned apps + Google apps (hit overflow menu and show system).
9. Install "AnxiousOOSCompanion_v*.zip". (Magisk Manager only)
10. Reboot.
11. Clear Play Store data
12. You profit.
13. Donate.
14. I profit.
15. Install Verizon specific module. Reboot. Reset APN defaults (search "sim" in settings, 1st suggestion>sim 1>access point names>overflow menu), if using Verizon module.
16. Call Screen/Hold For Me.
17. 100% jpeg quality.
Download(s) faq:
Q: Can you provide a mirror?
A: No.
Q: Why?
A: Mega is very mobile friendly and collects no metrics, I can't even track the number of downloads!
Changelog:
Will be available on each release post. I will not compile a changelog in one post.
Magisk:
Don't use anything older than the latest stable magisk.
Tips/Troubleshooting:
You should check "Settings>
Security & lock screen>Google Play system update" for an update. My modules might enable being on the latest. Might not.
If any app is reported as unsupported in the Play Store then clear the Play Store's data. It should work after that but a reboot might be needed sometimes.
Google has the ability to break pretty much anything with server side updates.
Clean installs of roms will probably have better outcomes, if it didn't work.
The app that live caption exists in, is called "Device Personalization Services". If it's not available you need to manually enable the service. I recommend this app manager. While you're at it you should enable all activities, providers, receivers, services. I also suggest using App Ops and Shizuku (required for App Ops functionality). All the linked apps also make debugging/troubleshooting easier.
Random:
You should read the Magisk documentation and MMT-Ex wiki.

Thank you

A lot has changed compared to the old instructions, so I'll gradually update the OP to reflect helpful FAQ, improved instructions, etc...

I also may have figured out how to get the latest Google Play system update. But that's unconfirmed. Since I don't have (or want) testers.

Welcome back! I'm glad to see you back on here hope that whatever you had going on in your life was resolved.

At least 10 years off till a refutable research facility would even consider injecting my retina with stem cells. And I won't have a diagnosis on my lung nodules for months or longer. But it would be the slowest growing metastatic colon to lung cancer my oncologist has ever seen but I currently have my bets on a benign inflammatory condition or pulmonary fibrosis as a result of chemotherapy. Haven't found a bookie to take my bets, yet...
But now I can be hella rude to people who don't read with the two eyes they have because I essentially have one eye lol.

Or following the instructions.
You're not going to get any helpful support from me with one sentence posts that demonstrate you didn't follow instructions lol.
There are many "it"s you must install. And not everything is in the OP because I shouldn't have to tell users on a developer forum that something like a Terminal app is required when I say modules are needed as prerequisites that require a Terminal app for set up of those prerequisites.
The kernel has absolutely no effect on making this work or not. And you thinking so demonstrates the "learning curve" for my instructions are to difficult for you.
You're going to waste your time if you're gonna spend time trying to get the right kernel for something that doesn't need a right kernel.

yes it was installed .. what changed the alarm clock .. changed the calculator and install the google phone from the play store ... so you mean it is not a simple magisk module? have other necessary settings through a terminal to work correctly?

So far so good here, nice having working voicemail in Google phone app.

"& "Cross Compiled Binaries" with the bare minimum of sed installed to /system/bin. They are on the magisk module repo."
Can you elaborate here? What's sed? And why they should be installed?

Installed it, everything was working except one snag, my settings was FCing everytime I tried to go to the app section.
It's something on my end most likely as I am using Bliss (which is different than your rom,) and it probably isn't compatible.
Love the work regardless and again I'm glad to see you back!

[APP] Multi-User App Share

I have created an app that will help share apps across users on google's new 4.2 multi user feature.
Thanks to mentose457 and unwired for giving me the idea.
see this thread (http://forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?t=1994169)
It works by removing package elements from user's package-restriction.xml file to add the app and adding the package element back to remove the app. (located at \data\system\users\10\package-restrictions.xml where 10 is the user's id)
This is quickly thrown together and will likely have a ton of bugs, but I wanted to go ahead and get it out there for testing.
- This is BETA
-You must have ROOT
- This changes system data on non documented files it could screw something up.
- I'm not responsible for any problems this causes or lost data or bricked or broken devices
- please use cation
- it is currently built to run on main user to enable or disable apps on secondary users (once root is fully working on secondary users I will see about making it run correctly on secondary user's account)
- not tested thoroughly with paid apps*
- does not currently support system apps**
- due to the way I pull the app list from the package manager some installed apps may not show as available to add/remove
- apps installed first on a secondary user's profile will probably not show in the list to add/remove
*paid apps seemed to work but I did not have internet access during testing. My theory is that any paid apps that use Google's license verification will not work or not work for long. So adding your Google Account to the secondary user's play store is probably still the best way to share paid apps.
**The entries in the xml for system apps is different. Therefore I will have to research them more before getting it to work or deciding not to mess with those apps. Currently some will show not installed on other users even though they are and removing/adding them will not work correctly.
------> DOWNLOAD HERE https://play.google.com/store/apps/...tm_medium=forum&utm_campaign=app_announcement
I'd love to get feedback to what is working and what is not. Also if anybody figures out anything more about the package-restriction.xml file I'd love to hear it. Especially when it comes to system apps.
Thanks mate added my sons Google account and it is all running perfectly. Seperate saves and account details for apps and allowing me to share my paid ones with him
First review on play store is up.
Will have a mess around with apps and report back but it appears to be running sweet at the moment
Cheers danny...

It wasn't meant as a negative comment, as I think this app is very useful.
I tried this with ten games and all worked fine (free and paid) except Retro Racing. It works with primary user but crashes with secondary user.

Currently I only have it available in the market to tablets to avoid confusion for people wondering why it doesn't work with their phone. Maybe I will change that since only nexus devices or phones with custom roms are running 4.2. Those users tend to be a little smarter and know if their phone has multiple user profiles or not.
Here is a link to the apk for anybody that can't see it in the market.

The shared folder idea is interesting but beyond the scope of this app. Probably could do it with symlinks or something (not very knowledgeable in linux). Maybe I will look into it and either make another app or find a way to make it fit in with this app.
Yes. Symlinking the photos/music folders outside /data/ should work. But I don't have a 4.2 device(nor willing to set up an emulator) so I'm unsure.
Looking forward to trying on my p5113 CM 10.1

network access is for connecting to internet for ads and also for ACRA (Application Crash Report for Android) it basically sends error reports to me to help fix errors. It can be disabled under settings if you do not want it reporting errors.

Debloating Script for Lollipop N900TUVUFOB6

** DISCLAIMER: I AM NOT A DEVELOPER. I DO THIS AS A HOBBY AND SHARE MY FINDINGS IN CASE SOMEONE ELSE FINDS THEM USEFUL. **
** THIS WORKED ON MY DEVICE BUT IT MAY NOT WORK ON YOURS. APPLY AT YOUR OWN RISK **
Background
This script is written for the sole purpose of reducing the power consumption of Android 5.0 update for T-Mobile Note 3. A lot more can be removed from the system but that will not make a significant contribution to power.
The debloat script does not really remove anything; it only disables the apps. You can always run the enbloat script to revert it.
THIS SCRIPT IS FOR LOLLIPOP ONLY. WILL NOT WORK ON OTHER ANDROID FLAVORS.
What this script does
Please read below and understand what this script does before you use it. There may be an app on the list that you may actually want to keep.
Removes: FOTA, update, and security vehicles.
Because: these vehicles push "Security Updates" onto the device. If you make the mistake of accepting this security update, even after you root your tablet, it can patch the hole and you will never be able to use the same exploit to root again.
Removes: Google apps including Gmail and Google sync apps except for Maps, Youtube, Chrome, and Voice Search.
Because: Google apps do a lot of bookkeeping, locationing, and internet access in the background with very little benefit to the user, while consuming a lot of power. If you use Gmail my suggestion is to use the default Email program since it allows a better management of the sync schedule and consumes less battery (and a few other good things). Note that this can severely limit your access to Play Store so either install all store apps you need before debloating or use sideloading to install them after
Removes: Knox
Because: I am yet to meet a single person who likes this nightmare of an app.
Removes: Tmobile stuff except for Voice mail and hotspot
Because: Tmobile bloat does too much activity in the background. In particular, Lookout scans your device constantly to no obvious advantage.
Removes: Backup/cloud agents
Because: Most advanced users backup their data through other means
Removes: Remote control and tracking mechanisms
Because: If you are reading this you most likely don't want your device to be remotely tracked or controlled by Samsung
Removes: ANT services, health, INDI (v2), secgba (v2), Peel (v2)
Because: They run in the background and use the radio.
Removes: Weather (unified) daemon
Because: Major battery hog
Removes: Chat ON, Gear Manager Stub, Bloomberg
Because: Not particularly useful and can be installed from the market if needed
Removes: Enterprise and VPN tools
Because: Most users don't use them
And since someone will ask at some point, no, this script won't trip your Knox!
Requirements:
Rooted Samsung Note 3 SM-N900T (T-mobile model) on Lollipop N900TUVUFOB6. See this thread.
Android Terminal Emulator: https://play.google.com/store/apps/details?id=jackpal.androidterm&hl=en
Download link:
Attached below
Instructions:
Make a backup of your files/system. Also have a flashable Odin ROM handy to recover from possible disasters. I am not responsible if you brick your device while using these scripts.
To debloat:
1- Unzip the attachment and copy debloat.sh to your phone at /sdcard
2- Run the terminal emulator and type the following:
su
cd /sdcard
sh debloat.sh3- It will do its thing and reboot your phone in about 5 seconds.
To restore the bloatware:
1- Unzip the attachment and copy enbloat.sh to your phone at /sdcard
2- Run the terminal emulator and type the following:
su
cd /sdcard
sh enbloat.sh3- It will do its thing and reboot your phone in about 5 seconds. You have all your bloat back now.
Note that while running the debloat script you may get force-closing popups. This is normal; after all you are disabling these applications.
Limitations:
If you have previously removed bloat using other means this script CANNOT recover it for you. enbloat.sh can only restore what debloat.sh has disabled.
Final Notes
With this script you should be able to get anywhere between 0.25 to 1 percent discharge per hour in standby mode. Your awake time should also be around 1-3%. You will still find that Google Services will wake up and use GPS every time you unlock your phone. To get even better battery performance turn your GPS off when you are not using it
This should be sufficient for 99% of people. After you apply this script, if you still want more try this: Disable Phonesky, google play services, Google framework, and stock YouTube by renaming their apks (not the directory they are in but the apks themselves) to .apk.bac, reboot, and install an older version of youtube that does not need Google Services, such as 5.1.10. Note that this drastic removal of Google services will make assisted GPS very slow in Google Maps. If you don't understand what that means it is best to stick with the debloat script and not mess with your system.
Regardless of whether you end up using this code or not, my suggestion to you is to go to Settings -> General -> Security -> Security Policy Updates -> untick Automatic Updates.
Update
Version 2 removes more background processes. If you have already used version 1 to debloat, I recommend that you use version 1 to restore the bloat and then use version 2 to debloat again.
Thanks for contributing your work!

Anyways, we don't need a big long debate about it. I am just saying there needs to be a little more objective evidence for this, especially when the logic and reason at the beginning of the OP doesn't match the logic and reasoning in the list of applications being removed.
And the knox app is embedded deep into the device's core framework, simply removing the app is doing very little to remove it in it's entirety.
Click to collapse
This is true. Knox is embedded deep into the system even bootloader removing the app will do close to nothing. Not putting down the work put into the script as it is indeed a time saver if you have spend a little time with Android. If not they can be turned off manually. As for the security holes. There will always be a way to root and mod. Oems have that to themselves. Take a look at our brethren over with verizon and att. Their devices are locked down tight and came like that out of the manufacturer. Our devices are unlocked boot loader wise. If they wanted to they would have locked our models too.

Also a very good point...:good:
Meh... A lot of the time, removing and freezing apps can be counter productive.
For example, mpdecision, which controls when cores come online, has calls to it embedded into Samsung's camera apk, and removing or renaming this file can negatively impact battery life when using the camera application because a lot of the time, oems don't build checks into their software. They simply expect the file to be present, and when it's not, it can create a loop and drain battery.
Unless you've gone through the entire system to look for references to the apps you're removing, it's best to simply freeze or leave them alone.

You are right about the mpdecision process and it makes common sense to not remove a process like that. The same can be said about different timers and alarm processes in the system and the list goes on.
Having said that, I would be more than happy to explain how each item on this list contributes to saving power or protects the system from being subjected to unwanted patches without compromising the integrity of it.
And finally, I have been already using this setup (even a more aggressive version of it) for a few days on my phone with excellent power results and not a single hiccup or force closed app. I have also constantly monitored the wake locks and background processes to make sure the situation you referred to does not occur. I would be glad to hear your feedback if you use it and find a different outcome.

There is a lot that can be taken out but every piece removes a bit of functionality with it. If you live abroad it is understandable to remove all TMO stuff but, for example, if you remove more Google stuff than this script does YouTube will stop working and maps becomes slower. Also, there are services like printers or widgets like flipboard etc that you may still want to keep. So to what extent do you want to debloat your system?
I had already debloated several apps but thought this could help a bit more with the battery. So far I haven't had any issues, crashes, etc.
Thanks for sharing.

What is milk music? I don't have that app. Do you mean google music? Oh, you mean the one from the play store?
OK, Milk music is a samsung app. It needs the samsung account apps that are some of the things that this script disables. If you need your milk music back, run the enbloat script and you will have it back.
Yeah, I followed the instructions which were UBER easy. Thanks for that.
I figured it was related to that.

Here is an example of how debloating can be beneficial. On an unmodified phone I set the brightness to about 50 percent and let the phone play a 720p video in a loop. I could get 10 hours of screen time. However if you look closely, Lookout has been busy in the background burning 13% of the battery. So if I had disabled it I would have arguably got another hour of screen time.
I love this scipt! As a laymen, all I have to do is import it via Rom Toolbox (Pro) to the sciprter--then execute. My device runs at least twice as well as before.
Thanks, OP!

[Samsung Galaxy S3] With [Lollipop 5.1] [Custom ROM] Info, Help, And Troubleshooting

This thread is for...
• Helping you to understand why you would want to upgrade your Samsung Galaxy S3 to a 5.1 ROM.
• Helping to address any concerns prior to this upgrade.
• Helping you to accomplish this upgrade.
• Helping you to troubleshoot and fix any issues after this upgrade.
• Talking about custom kernels, mods, tweaks, custom recoveries, apps, privacy, etc. for the Galaxy S3 running a 5.1 ROM.
• Talking about anything else similar to the above that pertains to the GS3 with a 5.1 ROM.
Why Would I Want To Upgrade My GS3?
**** Your Galaxy S3 is an amazing machine for how old it is. However support and customization is limited now that there are "better" phones available. Waiting for updates from android can be frustrating. Some newer software may not work for you. Bugs can get on your last nerve. Everyone else seems to have a cooler phone.
**** By upgrading your phone you can unlock its full potential safely without losing important data stored on the phone. Customization, performance, compatibility, and privacy will improve and can get close to or even surpass some of the brand new devices coming out today! My GS3 outperforms my sisters GS6 in many ways!
**** If you decide to make the change you will feel like you have a brand new phone and forget about upgrading anytime soon! Newer models are removing sd card access, removable batteries, privacy measures that protect you, etc. This phone is a beast if you give it a little TLC! If in the end you prefer the older way you can restore your phone to the exact moment before you upgraded and everything will be the same, no harm done! I am assuming you are rooted already, although this may not be necessary if you are flashing a ROM that is pre-rooted like Cyanogenmod.
Issues That I Have Experienced To Be Aware Of Before Upgrading. Most Of These Are Fixed In Recent Builds, But I'm Including The Solutions That Worked For Me Anyway.
• Issue: Blackscreen during phone calls
Fix: For me I used xposed app proximity off. Other solutions can cause high cpu usage due to general, sloppy developing
• Issue: No 4g or mms
Fix: For me i used cm12 ting apn zip
Better fix: use apn backup app prior to upgrade and save settings so you can reapply them on new ROM.
• Issue: Battery drain
Fix: For me I recalibrated my battery and used* Xprivacy and Greenify apps along with built in privacy guard advanced settings to double my battery life
• Issue: No sound when using free phone apps
Fix: For me i had to edit my build.prop real quickly and changed mic from digital to analog. Consult with a professional before editing your build.prop
• Issue: Root access denied
Fix: For me I had to enable developer settings and enable root access there
• Issue: App not opening
Fix: For me I had to boot to recovery and wipe cache and dalvik and then reboot.
• Issue: No Google apps or playstore
Fix: For me i had to flash gapps after update.
• Issue: Stuck in boot
Fix: For me i had to pull battery and hold power button down for 30sec. Then using button combination reboot to recovery and wipe cache and dalvik and then reboot.
Things To Do Before Upgrading To Be Safe
~ Research ROMS and select one that is for your device model# specifically (ex: sprint s3 is different from verizon s3). If unsure just ask!
~ Make sure your battery is fully charged.
~ This guide is for the sprint variant. Other variants may have locked bootloaders and if so this could brick your device without first unlocking.
~ Install custom recovery (I recommend TWRP. CWM has known problems with our device, so please don't use it if you care about your device).
~ Create a TWRP backup (also called nandroid backup) and put on sd card.
~ Backup your texts to sd card using app called Sms backup and restore.
~ Backup music, pics, vids, downloads, contacts, calendar, etc. to sd card.
~ Backup apps to sd card using Titanium Backup App. Although it will be better to re-download them after upgrading.
~ Email yourself links to your bookmarks in browser.
~ Screenshot anything that you cant figure out how to save.
~ Look at each app in your list of app and think "is there any data in this app that I don't want to lose?"
~ Backup anything else not mentioned above that you care about to sd card.
~ Download ROM zip and gapps zip to sd card.
How To Accomplish This Upgrade
~ If there is anything you don't understand yet, please ask now!
~ Do everything listed under "Things To Do Before Upgrading To Be Safe".
~ Verify in file manager that your nandroid backup, all important data, and all zips needed for upgrade are on your sd card not internal storage.
~ Make sure your battery is fully charged.
~ Boot to custom recovery (Please use TWRP!)
~ Pull out sd card so that you don't accidentally erase it.
~ Select wipe-advanced wipe-and check the boxes for dalvik, system, data, internal storage, cache.
~ Reinsert sd card.
~ Select install-micro sd card (touch where it says, "storage: internal storage" and switch to micro sd card)
~ Find and select new 5.1 ROM zip and Gapps zip on sd card.
~ Flash them and reboot to system.
~ Allow about 15min reboot.
~ Go through initial setup of ROM to get to home screen.
~ Let it sit on home screen for about 10 more minutes to allow background processes to update.
~ Get ready to show off your phone because it will be amazing!
Give it time to reboot and dont interrupt the process it typically takes 15 min total. If you are stuck at boot image still then pull the battery out, and hold down power button for 30 seconds. Then replace battery and reboot directly to recovery by holding down power, volume up, and home. When it flashes logo and in top left corner you see blue writing, then let go of power button and continue to hold volume up and home until you see the recovery screen. Then wipe cache and dalvik cache and reboot. If this does not work, then all you need to do is boot to recovery again using hardbutton combo like above, and restore your nandroid backup from sd card. If you brick your device by making a mistake somehow in all of this, and you forgot to nandroid, then you need to search for the debrick image for your specific device to start over, or use odin to flash back to stock, but it will come back to life dont worry.
Btw I am running cm12.1 nightly with Dkp kernel, Lspeed mod, Xposed 5.1, and carrier is Ting.
Ask me if you are interested in help to finely tune battery, performance, and privacy after installing your 5.1 ROM.

I tried everything online and thats the only one that worked for me! And yes its extremely hard to find lol! Hope it helps you as much as it did me.
After wipes I flashed rom and then gapps and then this, then reboot and leave alone for 10 min. Then go to recovery again and flash rom and gapps and reboot (no wipes this time and no apn zip). Any other questions let me know.
I want to install that lspeed thing but idk which 1 i need. There are so many versions im confused. Can you tell me?

u want arm version not x86. test versions are stable too, but have experimental features added so u can pick newest test if u want, or if u feel safer picking the v2.4 stable verion then thats great too! Hope it works for u as well as it does for me!
Tyvm! I will download it now
Wow people have no idea how bad they are being spied on! Check out this screenshot below!
Google app has tried to record my conversations 4,899 times in 1 month!
Keep in mind i dont use voice search so these are all unauthorized attempts to create personal ads for me and worse. Thank God for privacy guard and similar programs. People need to know about these things and wise up for their own protection

I'm pretty sure this is just Google App attempting to open the mic for voice search, which was denied since you have it set to ignore (you must use the search app a lot, and/or Google Now). You don't use voice search, so it doesn't impact you. But voice search won't work with that permission set to ignore.
I could be wrong, but the clandestine recording and transmission of audio files would cause a battery and data hit that would be noticed at some point. Besides, they're already using whatever we type (or speak) into search and Gmail for ad targeting and that's the deal we make for using their "free" services.

They are attempting to open mic but why when i dont ever hit voice search? I know it wont work thats why i set to ignore. U are right that we agree to them using info for using apps for free. U make good points but ultimately u r taking their word for it that we should trust them. I will hunt down some documents tonight to show u some problems and bugs with google in the past. This has been noticed by other people. For example there have been "bugs" when after using google voice it stays on. Heres an article from forbes that is related too but they are not even talking about many problems
http://www.forbes.com/sites/marcweb...le-chrome-to-eavesdrop-on-your-pc-microphone/
In fact when google started this about 10 years or so ago we were not giving permission and they had to stop and fix legal scripts before continuing. Lots of articles from back in those days whem i first started knowing about this seem to have "disappeared" from the internet. Im sure google had a part in that because it was bad advertising. I know someone who listens to similar recordings made by a popular app as a full time job and transcribes them to text for their "marketing purposes". Of course we are agreeing to the fine print but i dont think we really realize who they are sharing that info with, and that its okay for them to listen when app malfunctions, background voices are transcribed too, etc. I know i sound crazy but there is much proof of untrusted individuals accessing legit data and using as they want. Look at all Edward Snowdens revelations so far and more are coming. I just cant trust all these companies that cooperate with govt info requests. Even encryption as we know it is a lie and not random. I got crazy day but would love to talk more on this tonight if u want

I'm not saying it's not possible, or that I trust Google. And, to be sure, there are plenty of vulnerabilities and exploits out there, as in the examples you mentioned. But I don't think the specific issue you have with Google app is an attempt by Google to spy on you. You say you don't hit voice search, but do you hit search at all? Also, if you have a launcher that has "OK Google" functionality (I don't), that might cause it, too. My phone (SPH-L710, Exodus, dkp) indicates that that Record Audio was triggered 114 times by Google app, which I estimate to be about the number of times I've hit search, and I hit search again and the number increased by one. Now, if you don't use search or have any "OK Google" functionality, then your Record Audio number is curious.

I will look into that thanks for info. I know i accidently hit google search maybe 5 to 10 times a day but it still seems high. Dont really care since its blocking it anyway but i will try other browser and see if that helps. Just dont know why its trying to use voice on regular searches still seems wrong. I know its nothing personal to spy on me alone. They are probably fairly spying on everyone lol! Nice to see a fellow DKP user!

I actually did. I've been busy actually using it so I apologize for not getting back here to update on it. I did have to do pretty much what you advised, with a new flash, new gapps, reboot. flash rom, flash gapps, flash apn, reboot. open apn settings and verify info. At least something close to that.
Thanks for the information, really appreciated. I am running it on liquidsmooth 4.4.4. at this time. I had other issues with 5.1 stuff. Also using BMS kernel.

Honestly i have not tried yet. Im just using built in audiofx. But i heard viper was better. I would be happy to mess around with it though and let you know what i found if you would like me to. Im under the impression that many people are having problems with it right now with cm12.1. Have you tried? Any problems? if so do you have full busybox, selinux permissive, and switch compatibility mode in viper settings? let me know if you want me to try and report back to you. Thanks for participating in the thread, when i get more thanks will give you a :good:

Haven't had time to mess around with it yet. I'm actually on AICP 10.0, which is based on CM 12.1. I think it's only officially supported for Android 5.0.2, but if you would give it a shot, that'd be great!

I second this.
no special rom, just used adb/fastboot tools to uninstall - can't put links here for some reason, but just google it - its on github. Super simple, graphical interface. If you uninstall, it saves the .apk's so you can reinstall if necessary
The tool is called Saki tools
The tool that I always use is called saki tools, available on github. I'm sure he uses this also. It's great.
Just enable usb debugging on phone, open the application on pc and allow usb debugging, delete whatever you want.
Hopefully this clears up some confusion.
https://github.com/Szaki/XiaomiADBFastbootTools/releases/tag/6.8.1
Not called Saki tools, its made by a developer names SZaki - its called Xiaomi ADB Fastboot Tools. but yes, thats the link. (why can i not post links?)

For which version of miui?
Could you make as it.bat files for one click usage, yeah Miui also tend to change Apk names randomly each version update so you need to make different [.bat] for each miui versions. I did has my own personal list. Personally tested but outdated for already sold whyred.
You could make one click with options wizard
[remove extra Google app]
[total remove Google (Unsafe, for some one who want reinstall to microg/bitsGapps/picoGAPPs, make sure you already logout Google and has other keyboard installed) ]
[remove extra miui]
[total remove miui apps(make sure you got another launcher and logout miui account)]
[remove all non miui/Google bloats (Ie. Fb, preinstalled game)]
have you downloaded the program from github? Its a fully gui - click and delete. its for all current versions of miui as far as the developer has said. personally i'm on 10.4.4.0. The list that it gives you to delete are considered "safe to delete apps" - worst case i guess you soft brick.and need to do a factory reset. The app also leaves all the .apks for you to reinstall should something misbehave.

Yes, I already know for months already about it but her list is too simple and disabling function is buggy, disabled app still asking for update. Once we update it by mistake, or just changing region, they"ll back.

I just debloated successfully and it's all working fine. But i'm still left with the same amount of free space as i had before i uninstalled any of the apps i did.... Makes me wonder if Szaki tools really uninstalls the apps or somehow disables them without removing it from the device... Kinda suspicious to be honest...
PS: Also, i want to uninstall this really unnecessary download handler that comes with this phone but i don't see an option to do so?

This Is why I said the list is not suitable for me. It's good for newbie but people with more experience need POWERUSER MODE to remove more bloats, like fully uninstall ALL MIUI related to make it as close as stock for example. Yes, I can use adb manually or use debloat module in magisk, but tools to make it easier will be very welcomed

I agree. Someone already mentioned that at git too but Szaki's reply was to use "Add Apps" from the "App Manager" menu and update the list with what you want to remove. Apparently all the tabs use the same list...

it leaves the apks on your phone so you can reinstall if necessary, so they are still going to take up some space.
There is ALSO a disable tab you can use, which does exactly that.
Are you 100% sure you didn't gain a small amount of space? I gained a bit after deleting the ones on my list.

he has stated multiple times that the list to intentionally small to avoid the huge amount of dependencies that miui bakes into their apps and OS. each phone has different dependencies, and sometimes what works on one phone, soft bricks another. SO... there is an option to add apps (at your discretion) but even the safe list is not promised to not soft brick a phone (some phones the list is fully safe, others, maybe it trips a dependency and breaks something
If you want, start adding apps from outside the list and respond with your findings That would be the POWERUSER thing to do, would it not?.

Thanks, please have a look at this excellent post about debloating.
Though this is for redmi note 2, the list of apps you can safely remove is still quite actual.
Even though my phone is rooted, I couldn't remove system apk's and folders.
I've done so manually through twrp after first safely freezing apps by titanium to observe.
Root folder space is now at 70 %, which used to be over 90 if I remember well. :fingers-crossed:

What are the first five apps you install on LOS?

What are your first 5 apps you on LineageOS to get started on a brand new phone? I got slightly inspired by this thread:
What are the first five apps you install on Windows?
What are the first five apps you install on LOS?
Just for starters I have added some of mine but if an app is missing here that you always use, just drop a line here - I will add it (please see below).
Edit: Thanks @ethical_haquer and @MJPollard ! I think it might be best that I also start a list of mentioned apps, linked...
Edit#2: To clarify some things
1. Yes, I really mean first 5 after a fresh install - imagine you just finished flashing and you have to leave now. You have no time for downloading the many-gigabyte-maps of Europe, North America and Asia, just the most important first 5 to get you started.
2. No stuff that is google playstore only - imagine you have a new good 32 character password like Z5fcTcSp(5<q0RiZAv",-9~?j/X9C9LZ since yday and haven't memorized it yet.
3. If you want to have something added, see points 1 and 2 again and then drop not just the name but ideally also a link (I know some apps but surely not all of them).

What are your first 5 apps you on LineageOS to get started on a brand new phone? I got slightly inspired by this thread:
What are the first five apps you install on Windows?
What are the first five apps you install on LOS?
Just for starters I have added some of mine but if an app is missing here that you always use, just drop a line here - I will add it.

I just learned about MIXplorer! I'll have to try it out, looks cool. Trying to think if there's something else I install...
Swift Backup (in addition to Magisk), so that I can re-install all my apps from the cloud.

...and Termux! I can't believe I forgot, I always install it to use root and delete things (like system apps) using a terminal - I would definitely add it. I also use Organic Maps (personally I think it is the best open-source alternative to Google Maps) but I am not sure how popular it is. It's nice that everything on your list is open-source.

I was and still am shocked! I can only advise to get it, it's really THE swiss knife on phones! Perhaps not overly fancy but it does get the job done! What job? Any!

Yes, LOS own backup is just laughable, so my search ended up with Neo Backup. Had mixed results with restoring my data (but took this opportunity to start fresh, apps worked ok). Did you compare some backups or how did you end up with Swift? I can't recall seeing it before...

Yes! A classic but never made it to my top 5, still a shame that dev options come no longer with a terminal (couldn't find in LOS19).

Various threads talking about the deficiencies of former stalwart Titanium Backup (an app that's becoming more and more useless as it has failed to keep up with advances in Android such as split APKs) had people recommending Swift Backup highly, so I tried it, liked it, kept it, and paid for it (as I always do with apps I find useful). I've never used Neo Backup, but I might download it and give it a spin.
I probably install Magisk, Droid-ify, AccA, Battery Guru, and Device Info HW as the first five.
Then randomly K-9, Aurora store, app manager, telegram, orbot, DNS66, VLC, Material Files, MicroG...

Added.
Any specific reason you talk about Lineage OS?
I don't use custom ROMs. But here are my 1st five:
01. Netguard
02. Nova Launcher
03. SAI
04. Shelter
05. File Manager+
Next 5:
06. SSH Server
07. Shortcut Maker
08. Search Widget
09. Notification Shortcuts
10. AppLock

Well, LOS is the thread's home, isn't it?
Valid point, though - the thing is that LOS comes pretty bare bone and it is always a bit of a hassle to get started. Hence I also don't want listing apps that are only on Google PlayStore because they force you into an account.
I will add those "free" ones, of course. (just gimme a sec)
Here are some of my must-haves I didn't already see mentioned:
NewPipe
Retro Text Editor
Fennec (F-Droid)
Antennapod
Haiaaa! So many replies today
I hope I found your right ones (as for links)...

Was about to add it but NewPipe and AntennaPod are of the first 5 things you install on a fresh system? (say yes and I add them)

How do you like Shelter? I needed an open-source app that could isolate apps and tried installing Shelter but couldn't get it to work because of Knox.

Also, how does NetGuard compare to AdAway?

NetGuard watches and blocks traffic by your choice (per app, port or address), AdAway relies on precompiled lists of ad-servers and trackers and other scum.

Shelter enabled the Work Profile just fine on my S22U. No problems with Knox. My device is fully stock. Everything runs fine on the Work Profile.

Netguard doesn't require root. But when you use a real VPN, you'll have to disable Netguard. This isn't required with Adaway AfWall+.
Adaway AfWall+ is definitely better if device is rooted. I particularly like the Multiple Profiles feature which Netguard lacks.
EDIT: I confused Adaway with AFWall+. Sorry.
Netguard blocks apps from connecting to the internet, which is much better than Adaway which only blocks the ad servers. Adaway is not great from privacy perspective, relatively speaking.

Thanks! I beleive the reason Shelter wouldn't work on my phone was because I had previously installed and rooted a custom ROM, and then went back to stock un-rooted. Once I realized it wouldn't work (even the workarounds didn't) I decided to root it anyways.
I was moving/copying to another phone and oh!, it seems I have to actually add another app: Neo Backup.
It's not only on fdroid alright but there is always also an installer in the backup itself, very smart move for lazy people like me and thus it gets moved up in my list very quickly
