Custom Rom? - iQOO 3 Questions & Answers

Does anyone know if any dev is working on a custom rom for this phone?

We iqoo 3 users should put pressure on them to release sources for devs.

I think bootloader unlocking is a more pressing matter.

this seller send a device already rooted.... so is it possible to unlock BL ?

Due to the MediaTek processor, that's closed source, developers can't really develop for this device without breaking the law. MediaTek have always ensured that their source code isn't released making it difficult for a developer to actually make a custom rom. It's just unfortunately not going to happen for this device.
The Sony XA2 has a Snapdragon 630 processor so it's likely it will receive some more development than XA1. If you want to root you Sony XA1 device you can use on of links below.
XA1 Plus: https://forum.xda-developers.com/xa1/development/xperia-xa1-plus-stock-kernel-advanced-t3729856
XA1 & Ultra: https://forum.xda-developers.com/xa1-ultra/development/g3221-built-sources-t3622886
Best of luck!
There is no breaking the law or anything. And Sony has uploaded kernel sources long back.
Here is the one for .162 FW
https://developer.sonymobile.com/do...rchives/open-source-archive-for-40-0-a-6-162/
The stock ROM is pretty awesome and there is little reason to unlock BL and make/install custom ROM.

Possible. yes.
But there is a chance of a brick.
Different firmwares may have different partition setups.
And if you brick the one with IMEI or Bootloader ,the phone is a brick.
The only way to confirm is a developer having a rooted UAE phone and a rooted Indian phone and mapping the partition tables.
or perhaps , peek into ftfs and then predict the partition setup. :victory:

is there anyone who can guide me...??
i don't want to buy a new device,
The main issue i found is a lack of device tree from Sony, one would need to be built to even consider doing custom roms, LineageOS etc etc, i recently got this phone and i am rather disapointed with the lack of roms for it, ROM's could be ported to the phone no doubt, i know how to build roms and port, but doing a device tree is beyond me

Why not try yourself via system update?
Edit: Not working.

U tried ? I also have same question
Not yet.. Waiting for someone who will provide a way.
Somewhere in youtube i saw to update to beta rom(without unlocking bootloader) you need to be on a developer rom(you can download developer rom from "en.miui.com") ,which is not yet available for redmi note 5 pro.
Take a look on this article
https://www.xda-developers.com/install-miui-10-xiaomi-redmi-note-5-pro-xiaomi-mi-mix-2-xiaomi-mi-6/
They haven't mentioned about locked bootloader.. that method should work for locked bootloader mobile.
Since my mobile is new I am not interested to try beta ROM.

TWRP will never work with locked bootloader. It's very common term that is why you might not seen lock unlock thing. If only one developer rom available for RN5P then also could be do this without unlocking BL.

Yesss that's correct
Its possible to install miui10 beta rom with locked bootloader in redmi note 5 pro
But we need to use testpoint mode (to end edl ).
And then 1.qpst tool to flash rom its shows error while installing dont worry then go to
2. Miui flash tool to flash beta roms (i successfully installed miui10 rom on redmi note 5 pro)

Kirin Kernel Source Code

Huawei has released the kernel source code for Kirin 980 and Kirin 970. I dont understand why there are no roms for this phone. https://www.xda-developers.com/huawei-kernel-source-code-kirin-980-kirin-970-android-pie/
Just a thought; wouldn't one need an unlocked bootloader to install a custom recovery, and then flash a custom ROM?
Since Huawei has gone to some length to hinder owners of this device to unlock the bootloader, the developers might feel reluctance to develop for it?

Need Custom ROM Support For Realme X2 CN/EU

Hello, I brought a Realme X2 CN about one month ago. Regularly I visit Realme X2 XDA forum but I didn't see any official or unofficial Custom Roms & Mods for this device. I bought the CN version at low cost and fast time because I know that XDA :goodeveloper. will help us to make the CN Rom to Global version and many Custom Rom. I just want to know that is there any active developer for this device? We are really waiting for you guys.
Wait for a while. The phone just got released worldwide. and there are many restriction imposed by realme.
Happy news for is is that ,realme is paying attention to it. Fingerprint of our device is working after unlocking bootloader and root.
So, soon we will hope to see development for our device.
Great thread, thank you!
Hopefully we can use it if someone finally finds a way to flash the EU ROM.
I am willing to make a small donation to the person who makes 100% fully functional way of flashing the EU ROM to the Chinese version of realme X2.
Good old Xiaomi... It was (is) so simple with their ROMs...
Hello !
How did you suceed to have fingerprint working after unlocking bootloader ?
Thanks
After removing all the Chinese apps and installing play store and necessary apps don't you guys feel comfortable to use Chinese rom as your daily driver? Why not?

you can't modify system Chinese apps without Unlock and rooting the device. And now the main problem starts 'Fingerprint' not work after bootloader unlocking. I there any one who work for solving the fingerprint issue?

There is a developer ready to make custom rom but he needs to purchase the device for which there is crowdfunding. So join this telegram channel and donate too, also share it. @realmeX2Official t.me/RealmeX2Official
I dont get why this phone is listed as a "top device" in the forums when theres not even one official custom ROM for it

It'll be coming soon. For updates join telegram group. Thanks.
I bought my phone on Aliexpress, it came with a customized rom without the Chinese apps, with Google Play installed and multilingual, if they managed to make a rom like that, then I believe there is a way for our problem, what we need is someone customize a rmx-1991 rom, which is the chinese rom

[Discussion] Why no development on iqoo 3?

I know the kernel sources have not been released. And bootloader not been unlocked but still I see no developer interested in development of anything. Also no users are interested in it, why so? Will it be same story for the future?:crying:

Bro Iqoo has not reveled any kernel source & device bootloader unlock method so it's not possible to develop custom roms for Iqoo 3 and if you r using mobile devices only for development then go with brands like oneplus, Mi, Redmi, Pixel, Poco etc...
