Is this glass from side to side without big gaps?

It's not from side to side but the gap is not such big either since the screen is only 2.5 rounded. I haven't seen tempered glass on rounded screen from side to side fully functional yet. I use nice and durable folie though.

Hey piskr,
Appreciate your response. But don't you think 0.2mm is too thin and is liable to shatter easily?

Wanna have my advice? Forget about tempered glass. It brakes one way or another, sooner or later. It shines only when you drop the phone on an extremely rough surface with stones or similar.
Dropping the phone on a flat surface or prevent scratches doesn't require tempered glass. Try this protection and it will give you a completely different view on screen protection:
https://forefrontcases.co.uk/produc...ile-phone-hydrogel/huawei-mate-20-x-hydrogel/
It's smooth as tempered glass, tinny and durable and doesn't make this blur effect as tempered glass, especially when it is dirty, makes.
Just try it. I promise that you won't regret. It's dirt chip regarding performance.

Hello Omaro,
Z1 Compact uses Dragontrail glass which is as strong as gorilla glass. The glas does however not come with a oleophobic coating
As an answer to your first question there's no glass which is 100% scratchproof. Minerals can scratch pretty much any types of glass, and by minerals I'm talking about sand, stones etc etc.
The reason why most people wants to remove the preinstalled antishatterfilm is due to that it collects dust, fingerprints and its very easy to scratch. It's not recommended to remove it if you're not planning to apply a oleophobic coating on top of the glass.
Hope my answer cleared any doubts,

The surface of the glass under the plastic film is not as smooth as other phone screens. I think this is because it is not intended to be used without a film above it.
I removed Sonys plastic film and added Orzly Tempered Glass Screen Protector (you can use any other tampered glass protector). nearly perfect for my and much more scratch resistant than with the plastic film.

The reason because it does not feel as smooth is because of that there's no olephobic coating on top of the glass. You need to apply one yourself using a liquid solution, and it'll feel like on any other phone.
thanks guys^
but does this olephobic coating u speak of wear off after time?
EDIT: btw I cant see any anti shatter film on the backside of my phone. Shouldnt there be on there as well?

nope. the z1c has a plastic black. no shatter-protection necessary, but causes the flashbleed problem. some people have replaced theirs with the glass back from the z1f, though.
I don't have any screen protector and am very happy with that. No need to put some ugly stuff on the front glass.

Glass screenprotector 9h+

Hello,
Has anyone found already a good screenprotector?
I only found negative reviews on the internet. Most screenprotectors had about 2mm gaps on the sides. Even nillkin disappointed me.
Preferably i would like a 9h+screenprotector but if that is not possible i would settle for less.
Thanks in advance.

There will always be a gap because of the 2.5D glass unless you get an Ultimate Shield-like screenprotector. But honestly, it doesn't look that good.

Little update: Found the perfect one. I first ordered the MOFI tempered glass clear screen one from aliexpress. It had air near all the sides so I disputed the order. I got my money back but the sneller mentioned that they send a 'gap free' kit with it. So I ordered again with a comment to include this kit. It basically is a kind of oil that you rub under the sides. The air slowly moves away and the sides become air-free.
The result is a perfectly fitting tempered glass. Not like the one from Nilkin missing 2mm sides. I can't post photo's yet on xda. So if you want pictures, send me a pm.
Considering the price, I bought mine for 7 dollars.
Greetings from Belgium!

I have cafele glass, it is similar to mofi. The white edge remover liquid is great, but you need to use it time to time again (for me it last ~2 weeks, after the air in the edges come back again).
9h is about 99.99999% straight b.s. from these companies. If that was the case, there should be nothing short of diamonds that cut the glass. The 9h they talk about on these items refer to approximately a 5 or 6 on the hardness scale, which is just under what many flagships phones come in at... I would recommend finding a screen protector that simply fits well..
It's all false marketing words. Explosion proof, bullet proof and other mumbo jumbo claims just to make cheap things appear expensive.

9h refers to pencil hardness scale not Mohs scale. So it's more of a bait rather than bs.

It's B.S.
Why talk about pencil hardness for a screen protector, compared to Moh's scale of hardness which is frequently used to test the hardness of screens.
I mean look at this ??
9H Glass, Shatter proof, HD TRANSPARENT GLASS, protects your eyes. ??
But get this- IT'S PLASTIC. ????

There's Wolf-Wilburn scratch resistance test and it's basically moving pencils of different hardness over the surface with fixed force/angle and 9H is the hardness of hardest pencil used in this test. In fact it usually takes way more than 9H pencil to scratch screen protector like that but it's tricking people into thinking that "9" means 9 in Moh's scale. I know it's ****ty to trick people like that and I don't approve this as well but you really can't tell that they (manufacturers) lie about 9H hardness, they just don't clarify what does that mean to make more people buy their products (which is just as ****ty as lying IMO). Just spreading the word to let people know about that.

Why would you need this if screen isn't curved? I have a Pixel 2 XL. And liquid adhesive is a expensive and a pain to install.

Expensive, yes. I find easy to install though and while it has more steps it is far easier to get a perfect type fit, in the end. Regular temp glass lifts off, gets stuff under the edges, and is prone to that oil slick effect - the liquid adhere types solve those issues and aside from better fit/feel they last longer.
Hmm seeing as the Mate 20X screen is mostly flat and a little curve at the extreme edge (similar to iphones), is there any decent full coverage (those with the black borders) tempered glass for it?
I've seen a few at the shops but when i test fit them over my screen i can see that the black border covers some of the pixels of the screen, making it look like "surrounded" or "covered". like if you were to view an old website (where they put absolutely no padding at all) the left and the right side of the text will be cut off (Eg, the first letter "A", probably the left leg will be cut off)
This is also a problem I noticed with my iPhone X, most full coverage tempered glass being sold have their black borders a little too thick and will "eat" into the screen when applied, so far the only tempered glass i know of that has black borders and not exhibit this issue is the one by spigen (google for pics), their black border is thin enough that it does not interfere with the screen.
Wondering if such a product exists for the Mate 20 X?
I have the black border Tempered Glass on my Mate 20 X and also i have used these black borders Tempered glass for my Xiaomi Mi Mix 18K. Yes, it is true, they ,, eat '' a little bit from the screen edges, but i would rather prefer these and have a full coverage rather than the crystal clear ones and have the screen protected like 90%... as those dosen't fit on the entire screen. I don't mind at all the borders... it's only about 2mm , barely notice in everyday use...
So, if you guys want to have full coverage and full protection for the screen, goes for the black borders tempered glass... my honest opinion...

Sent from my HUAWEI EVR-AL00 using XDA Labs
I've currently found one (google hoda mate 20 x tempered glass, I can't post links), 1st or second result, the black borders seem to be rather thinner, might want to order one to test but its about $20

That's true, rainbow effect and matrix, but i don't mind at all, is better to protect the entire screen rather than just 90% of the surface...
The matrix and rainbow effect is visible only with the screen off, with the screen turned on you can't see these effects...

You could grab those black border style adhesive at sides type tempered glass and convert it to those full loca glue type, just strip away all the extra film and leave it with the bare glass, then just get those spare glue tubes used in whitestone and apply it yourself, i did the same thing with my XZ2 Compact seeing no one sells a whitestone type full coverage protector so i did it myself
But for now, I am quite happy with my Nillkin H+ tempered glass (especially coming from me, since i am the type that normally prefers those full coverage full adhesive types), yes, it does not go all the way to the edge but as i'm using it with the provided huawei TPU case it fits just fine, more important is to protect the screen and get back that "glass" touch.

Poor experience with glass film

I applied the glass protection of the brands Mocolo and Amfilm on my Pixel 2 XL. And what I realize is that, the black level is decreased somewhat giving way to gray color. These glass films look shiny. I wonder if these films of malleable plastic that needs a liquid to be applied, if it keeps the color faithful to the screen.
The last film I used was this ..

There is another plastic film option as well. Even though it protects little compared to glass, I prefer plastic because of the faithful color levels. For greater protection only use a case that has larger edges than the screen. I use a Spigen liquid crystal and its edges is above the screen, so I already have a good protection.

If you plan the use the pen the plastic will not last much from my experience and it does scratch easy. Also the plastic does not have oleophobic coating and it will gather finger oils fast. On top of that the finger does not glide as smooth on it as it does on glass.

It depends on your usage patterns and how picky you are... you can use it as it is for a while and see how it fits you... if you are not happy get a glass for it...
Just make sure it's a good glass, meaning it needs to have rounded edges, oleophobic coating, cover the screen properly but fits fine with the case you are using...

Don't expect the glass to protect the screen much in case on an impact giving the big size of the screen... my glass is around 0.2-03mm thick...
Don't get me wrong It's definitely better to have one sheet of glass on it than a sheet of plastic when are talking about impact just don't expect miracles
I've put a glass on it because I am picky:
- the default sheet although is nice to have and protects from scratches but it does not have oleophobic coating so it smudges pretty bad
- when using a pen you need to push harder and the default plastic sheet gets scratched a lot and also gets some deep scratches fast, also the pen does not slide smoothly like it does on a glass
- the feel of smooth glass while scrolling is priceless... finger slides on glass so much better...
- I watch a lot of media on the phone so I hate having scratches on the screen and no matter how carefull you are, you will get scratches... some will be quite deep and will be visible.
- I use the flip case and with a flip case you have a higher chance of some dirt to get caught between the flip and the screen and get scratched
- the screen is flat so a glass screen is cheap (compared to the ones for the curbed screens are are more expensive and with many drawbacks)
I use a Glass Screen Protector from Amazon.
