A505U without network connection - Samsung Galaxy A50 Questions & Answers

Hello everyone,
So, I bought a A50 (A505U) Unlocked, but from SPRINT, on Ebay, when I was in the USA. I bought it to give to my mom, here in Brazil. When I got here and put my mom GSM sim card the A50 recognized the network of her operator (TIM), but an OMADM error of the SPRINT network appeared. So I`ve decided change stock ROM from Sprint to another unbranded one. Here is the problem, I`ve already tried several ROMs, but none of it recognized the network. I always got "emergency call only". If I put T-Mobile sim card, it works. I`ve already tryed countless versions, Android 9 and Android 10, with all CSC versions that I saw. I`ve downloaded many ROM versions avaliable (https://samfw.com/firmware/SM-A505U), but I`m stuck with it.
I can`t change CSC with (*#272*IMEI#), because it doesn't work. I can`t root and edit CSC file, because U versions doesn`t have bootloader unlockable. And I can`t figure it out which ROM version will allow network.
Please, please, for the love of God, can anybody help me?

Did you manage to solve it?

I believe your phone was unlocked by a third party service. When you installed the U1 firmware. It removed the unlock.
That is why your phone must be displaying "sim card crashed".
Going back to sprint csc isn't really going to change this.
You will have to get the phone unlocked again.
You can go back to sprint csc. By installing U1 firmware and putting in the sprint sim card. Or by putting in a Verizon sim card and then using that *#272*imei# code.

I'm having the exact same issue with an used phone that I bought

What do you mean by "unlocked by a third party service"? How can I perform that?

My daughter did a factory reset on my wifes galaxy s3 and it is no longer unlocked?!

First I want to say thanks in advance to anyone reading this as I have been a long time visitor and this site has helped me unlock & root quite a few devices over the years.
Anyway my daughter was messing around with my wifes phone and somehow got all the way into the factory reset option and did it. Dont ask me how as im still wrapping my head around that one. Weird part is the phone wasnt rooted after (I thought it stayed rooted regardless but I guess not). I have since gotten it rooted but I am unable to find out how to unlock it and neither of our sim cards seem to work on it now. I typed *#197328640# into the keypad and went through the menus to do a phone unlock but as it is on 4.4.2 I was unsuccessful. Any help would be greatly appreciated. If needed it is a Samsung galaxy S3 SGH-1747.
Once again thank you so much for any help.
This is strange that the phone would become sim locked after a factory reset.
Was the phone sim unlocked using a sim unlock code or the free sim unlock method?
If your daughter got that far, is it possible she also somehow messed up the modem firmware or whatevs? Maybe try flashing a new modem?
(Careful, I've never done this and you could probably brick the phone if you flash the wrong one)

There's this: http://forum.xda-developers.com/galaxy-s3-att/general/modem-4-4-2-modems-i747-i747m-t2856577
Definitely read through it though and make sure you have the right model, version, etc.
Is it possible to find (e.g. borrow from a friend) a sim card from the phone's original carrier to see if that works?

Use Verizon note 4 on AT&T

I got Verizon Note 4.
Verified that it is unlocked. Not stolen. No contract binded from Verizon store and through phone (Clean phone)
Android Version : 5.0.1
Location: Las Vegas
Insert AT&T sim card. No signal.
Change APN setting following the information on AT&T website. Still not working. No signal.
At&t store rep. said I need to l unlock the phone ( I already check with Verizon via phone and store)
Verizon rep. on phone said: I should be able to use the phone with At&t sim card
Verizon Rep. in store said : Galaxy note 4 won't work on AT&T. It needs to be rooted by an expert. Only Galaxy S5 or later version will work.
I searched websites and many say that they are using Verizon Note 4 on AT&T network (At&t sim card)
I just need to use phone and text message. No data needed.
Anybody can help me?
I was able to use SIM from AT&T before yesterday, but after trying to update the firmware using Software Upgrade Assistant tool on Windows 10, it's now stuck at 'searching for service'.
Did you change the network settings from global to lte/GSM?
I am reading this. Maybe a solution.
Did you try to insert a different carrier sim card and entering the unlock code?
---------- Post added at 09:27 PM ---------- Previous post was at 09:24 PM ----------
After reading post i see you have a att sim sim on verizon phone. This could be a problem as verizon and att dont play nice. Stupid question is did you actually pay for service?

Yeah. Me either.
Did you do a factory reset after software update. Usually helps. Also mess with APN settings. Reboot after changing APN.
Problem solved.
Changing APN settings and reboot did not work. I just inserted the Verizon SIM came with the phone and made a phone call. Of course it's not activated, so I hang up when it reached Verizon automated system. Guess what, now SIM from Lycomobile works. H2O Wireless SIM also works. It means that it now can work with AT&T and T-Mobile network.

I'm in a similar boat as you (4.4.4 on Cricket Wireless, wanting to upgrade to 5.1.1). I just want to make sure I understand what you did to restore service:
1. You had phone working on AT&T with an older Android version (KK?)
2. You upgraded to a newer version via the Verizon upgrade tool (I assume 5.0.1 since 5.1.1 is not yet available via the tool)
3. You lost AT&T service after upgrade
4. You were able to restore AT&T service by using an inactive Verizon SIM and making a phone call
Is this correct? TIA

Mostly, except that I tried to upgrade from 5.0.1 to 5.1.1, but found that 5.1.1 was not yet available via the tool, but the process of installing the software on windows 10 and maybe I also used the Verizon SIM during the process which might have messed something up. I updated the firmware to 5.1.1 by downloading the zip file in a thread here and flashed it through recovery. The network connection problem was then solved by making a phone call with the SIM came with the phone.

I just updated via the Verizon tool (BPA1 finally showed up) and it was, surprisingly, perfectly fine. I first backed up as much as I can (via Smart Switch and Helium app), then pulled my mSD card, left my SIM card in the phone, and proceeded to update. After the first boot stuff (app optimization, etc.) I soon saw the AT&T sign in the notification bar, and I was able to make a phone call without doing anything else. With all the reports of SIM card locking after updating I was worried that I might run into the same issue, but was pleasantly surprised that I didn't. I had to re-enter the APN setting as the upgrade seemed to have removed it, but after re-adding Cricket's APN I was able to get cellular data as well.
Thanks again for your help
You need to access the hidden menu and change your radio and modem protocols. There's a forum on XDA called domestic and internation sim or network unlock for spring but should work the same on verizon
fyi, i got my note 4 working on gsm using 2 different freedompop sims-the at&t lte sim gets lte via band 4.
the global sim based on t-mobile did get hpsda+
just change the apn

Verizon Note 8...T-Mobile sim - help

Hello all, new here and I just purchased a Note 8 from Verizon. The device is paid off fully and i wish to use my T-Mobile simcard in it but it does not seem to be picking up a signal. I did update the verizon software to the latest version when i had my verizon sim card inserted. Verizon customer service told me i need to reset to factor setting then my t-mobile sim should work but this has not helped.
How can i get my t-mobile sim to work? Any help appreciated as i am new to android phones!
Thanks
Hi there, you must flash the new N950U1 2BQK1 or N950U 2BQK2 stock firmware to have full access of T-MOBILE Network. It's the only way it will work, I have AT&T NOTE 8 working on Verizon network with zero problem.
---------- Post added at 02:35 PM ---------- Previous post was at 02:31 PM ----------
It's a very easy process to flash the 4 US Carriers firmware, I have done it more than 50 times and I'm not a developer.

I would like to know where to get the firmware and with what do you flash it with? Is there a instructions thread or link.
It's been over 5 years since I have tinkered with a Samsung device.
Hi there. You'll need to have your Note 8 Bootloader version on level 2, meaning 2BQK2, 2BQJA or anything with 2 before the last 4 digits.
1) tmobile SIM card in device
2) Odin v3.12.7 make sure extract
3) 2BQK2 firmware extract all files
4) put all 4 set of firmware files in the right manner, bl,ap,cp and csc. Don't used home-csc only CSC.

First instructions is for if you want stock US CARRIER BLOATWARE FIRMWARE, second instructions is if you want SAMSUNG STOCK FIRMWARE. Follow steps and everything will be fine, happy flashing.
So wait, I have a Verizon Note 8 (currently using MetroPCS perfectly), but I wanted a stock Samsung ROM (without the Verizon crap on it), I can just flash the second set of files instead and done with it?
Yes
Can I use a gsm sim card and a verizon sim card at the same time on verizon branded phone? I see you have to flash the firmware above but am wondering if this would help me.
So much misinformation in this thread.
I don't even know where to start:
The OP was asking why his T-Monile SIM wouldn't work. It doesnt matter which firmware you're on, if the Note 8 is unlocked (the Verizon Note 8 IS unlocked), and it has a clean IMEI, and your SIM is already activated, then it will get 4G LTE. I know. I have a Verizon Note 8, and use it on Tmobile. I used it for over 24 hours with my T-Mo SIM but running thr Verizon firmware with no issues. Only reason I flashed T-Mobile firmware was to rid myself of Verizon bloat and to get wifi calling.
As far as bootloader, that has no effect on the SIM card working. The OP would need a v2 bootloader firmware if his current firmwarealso had the v2 bootload. It probably does, so thats a moot point, but the implication was the v2 bootloader was the only one that would make his SIM work.
I hope the OP got it all figured out.

plus the second SIM wouldn't have an IMEI assigned to it.
And I agree the OPs best bet is to flash thr T-Mobile firmware. But his issue was he wasnt getting a signal at all with his T-Mo SIM. Flashing firmware won't fix that. Source: I have a VZW Note 8 on T-Mo. Used it with the VZW firmware and a T-Mo SIM with no issues.

Another user had SIM issues and flashed back to factory (theirs was unlocked) then changed carriers and SIM worked again...sometimes a clean flash can work...
Hi all. For me I flash all firmware at clean wipe, never any issues. I have an unlock AT&T Note 8 unlock running the latest Verizon firmware with VZW SIM active. I also have a t-mobile S8+ unlock and running the latest U1 firmware and working with Verizon SIM active. I constantly switch my firmware between tmobile, verizon and at&t to see performance and what ever else feature added.

How did you get ATT N8 to work on VZW? I flashed my Tmo to VZW and i could never get speeds above 1mpbs. Even with unlocked firmware it did not get anywhere with VZW. I heard that its because the IMEI is not in VZWs database.
Hi there. My AT&T Note 8 works great on Verizon network, it's running the latest N950U1 Firmware 2BQL2, everything works great. It will work good on T-Mobile too, lately tmobile network giving trouble, sometimes less than 1 mbps on download. Since June 2017 I been having trouble with tmobile network in my area and around, so I switch to Verizon, couldn't bother the crappie service. My location I get 215 mbps on my note 8, IPhone 8 plus 147mbps download. I prefer Tmobile but it's not working good in area anymore.

I currently have a Verizon Note 8 with a TMO SIM and I'm getting 4GLTE but a few problems. Most of the incoming calls forward to voicemail and all outgoing calls the data has to drop completely before the call can connect. Will doing the carrier switching updates listed in the link above as well as flashing T-Mobile firmware assist with this problem? The phone is on 2BQK2 currently.

Verizion note8 with tmobile sim card
This is what happened when I changed carriers from the original verizon note8, on verizon network, with verizon sim and the most recent verizon pie update, to a carriers sim, that is tmobile service. And what happens, I didn't even think was possible... I put the new carriers sim in, truconnect, booted and let the phone register the new sim and network. Checked for update.... the was one, let the phone download and update. And you know how Verizon's boot logo is... it wasn't anymore. Booted the tmobile boot logo and sounds, strange. I'm not super noob and the little bit of knowledge and experience that I do have with roms and updates across carriers usually require physically flashing the rom. Correct me if I'm mistaking. Continuing.... optimizing apps....., huh?! The update flashed the tmobile software, without effecting any personally installed apps. Though the update did remove all the verzion software/bloatware, without permissions, and installed tmobile apps. 2 that are meant for user usage. They are tmobiles device unlock and the tmobile app. Which I might add, do not function, I surmise, because in not on the actual main tmobile network, but a scabbed on. I have never seen or experienced anything of the short. Please tell me if this is normal.? I was a bit upset. I did not give any carrier the permission to delete or install any app on my phone. But maybe things have changed since I dabbled. And If they have, maybe this might help the people that have been using Odin to get tmobile version rom while originally being a verzion phone. I dont think it's normal. Please tell me if this has happened to you.

Sim card not allowed!!! A unique problem!

Hello friends.
I am encountering a very strange issue with my A70 (FN model). I have a SIM card dedicated for internet and I was using it without any problem on my A70. Then one day I was trying to root my phone while SIM cards (I have 2 different provider's SIM cards) were inside the SIM tray. I had to reboot the phone multiple times during the process. Later on, when I finally set up my phone I noticed there were 2 circles in place of network signals signs. And an error MM2: SIM CARD 1 IS NOT ALLOWED. SIM card 1 is the one I use for internet. I swapped both the SIM cards places inside the tray but the same error kept on popping up. Eventually both SIMs were not being detected.
I tried many cures for the problem, went through a number of possible solutions by watching videos but....NOTHING!
Next day I got new SIM cards with the same numbers as I thought that maybe my SIM cards were damaged while I was rooting my phone.
Now the SURPRISING thing is that the other SIM card started working but my internet SIM card still didn't work. I put that in my LG G4. It worked there flawlessly. Further, I tried few other SIM cards of my family from the same provider....NONE OF THEM WORKED!!!!
Now my question is IS IT POSSIBLE THAT ONLY A CERTAIN COMPANY'S SIM CARD DOESNT WORK/STOPS WORKING ON A PHONE WHILE OTHERS HAVE NO ISSUES ???? is there any way that the SIM provider has blocked my phone?
Can anyone plz help?

You are absolutely right. As far as I remember I did click on Nand Erase as I was unable to flash the Patched AP by normal settlings of Odin. (Although it still didn't work. I had to flash fulll Stock ROM). Can the damage be reversed?
By the way, I did flash later on full latest stock ROM of the same CSC (SEK) but still the problem persists.

Need Android Pie firmware details for Unlocked T-Mobile Samsung S9

Hi All,
I have Samsung S9 Unlocked T-mobile from US and currently in India. Currently i have Oreo Version.
As all know, it doesnt have VOLTE option enabled which is needed for my sim network for voice calls to go through.
Somewhere i read Pie update will have VOLTE option and hence i am trying to update to Pie update.
I downloaded G960USQS6CSGB firmware for T-mobile, but before upating firmware using Odin, i got doubt if it will stick to T Mobile after update. This will make my phone not usable in India.
I tried to check online, but couldnt get direct answer and hence posting in new thread.
Can someone help clarify if it will lock the mobile to T-Mobile or will the phone be still in unlocked state?
Also i see two CSC files in the firmware folder. CSC and HOME_CSC. Which one to use?
If I should update with some other firmware for being unlocked and yet to get PIE update, please point to required firmware name or links.
Also will updating to PIE update will have VOLTE option ? Kindly confirm.
Thanks in Advance.

the firmware version you posted has the 6th bootloader revision, im betting here is a 7th available for your phone, but the 6th version should be fine as well
as far as the unlocked state of the phone goes, it shouldnt re-lock, but im paranoid lol. Have you looked into the U1 versions of the phones firmware? Theyre inherently unlocked firmwares and dont have any of that irritating bloatware **** in them

if it has no financial obligation to any carrier and the phone locks to that carrier, then the carrier it locked to would be required to release it. I cant imagine how it would lock to t-mob tho
Factory unlocked phones stay unlocked, no matter what firmware you flash.
Carrier locked phones that were properly unlocked by the carrier (they provide the code to SIM unlock the phone) will stay unlocked, again, no matter what firmware you flash to it - as long as it's compatible. Flashing the wrong firmware may just brick the phone. But, at least it's still SIM unlocked.
Phones that had some kind of software hack installed to trick the phone into thinking it's unlocked will lose the unlock status when you flash a firmware that also wipes the phone. Then it will come back as carrier locked again, because the hack is gone.
That last case is the only case I know of that will "re-lock" a phone. I've never heard of a carrier unlocked phone spontaneously re-locking under any circumstance.
Hi,
Thanks for the details. I tried to flash G960U1UES6CSG4_G960U1OYM6CSG4_XAA firmware. But while loading AP file in ODIN, it gave some error. Couldnt understand what is the error as its in chinese.
Then i loaded G960USQS6CSGB_G960UOYN6CSGB_TMB firmware which i downloaded previously. This got loaded in ODIN without any issues. And i am able to flash to phone. On rebooting, saw that phone moved to Pie version.
But i couldnt find VOLTE option (Enhanced calling) option. Does anyone know which version will enable that option?
Or anyother way to enable that please.
Thanks in advance.

if your Odin error messages are in Chinese, youve obtained a modified version. Itll probably work, but youll get that Chinese stuff whenever it needs to tell you anything. I dont know which versions have volte tbh. Sorry man.

yeah, sort of. The CSC's on these things are weird. Im starting to believe that these new versions of android are just like windows ISOs where they have all the versions compressed into one file and it uses a directory file to tell the firmware which version to install. Im sure a code writing dev can confirm or deny this thought, but at this point its merely a weak theory
