SM-G9880 Flashing Question - Samsung Galaxy S20 / S20+ / S20 Ultra Questions &

I recently just bought a S20 Ultra that has a unlockable bootloader. A little while back, I had a Galaxy S9 that I could completely convert the entire device to U1. Is that even possible with this device ? To fully convert the CSC and bootloader ect, to a US model ?

That was then. Each model is specific to a region and can not be flash with software from another region. I.E you cannot flash G9880 with firmware from G988U or G988U1 or the other way around.

What exactly changed from the S9 to the S20 that made that impossible ?

Any luck? I just got one in Canada and it only has 3g ad 4g so I was hoping I could flash a csc file.

So I attempted to edit the band config using QPST and QXDM, but I'm very unfamiliar with both programs and how to actually read and write information to the modem using those programs. Definitely not for the average user. Back in the days when devices had ESN numbers, I used to flash software using QPST and QXDM but there is a lot that has changed with those programs, and I wouldn't even know how to do that stuff today. If anyone has any knowledge about those two programs that can help me unlock all the US 5G bands for AT&T and Verizon that would extremely helpful.

N976B firmware question

Hey guys...I have a Note 10 plus 5G from UK, but I am using it in another country (Romania). We have 5G here as well, so this is not the problem. The firmware on the phone is not the latest, but it doesnt find the new one via OTA. I checked the firmware site and there are the August one there. So the question is, if I upgrade via Odin, with one of those FW, will it lock to an UK carrier? Or a German one, or other? Or will it remain unlocked and no issues there?
Thanks!

Indeed, thank you, did that, all went fine.
I have a similar question. I have a EE unit note 10+ 5g and was wondering if flashing the UK non ee version with a different CSC from samobile will actually change my phone's CSC or will it still detect it's a ee device and still say EVR/EVR/EVR under service provider information. thanks

If you use the multi-csc OXM it will change as per below.

note 10+ 5G SM-N976N

Hi,
c
You have to use the same model to flash in Odin. 976B is not 976N.
You can flash the KOO firmware for 976N which is the unbranded version (I bought it myself at a Samsung shop in Seoul).
I tried to flash with 976B and got errors. I flashed with KOO 976N but srill i have brand of KT when i start the phone also some settings of KT.
No idea why KT still stays after flashing

Right, because 976B is not the phone you have. You can't use a different model firmware.
Sounds like you need to change the CSC to KOO after boot up.
I used CSC for KOO byr still no lick
Let me know which CSC maybe i am doing something wrong

You said you flashed KOO firmware. That is not the same thing as switching CSC after booting up.
There is a phone menu to change the CSC. You need to do this, which will change the CSC setting on the EFS partition which is what you need to do.
Woow thank you for that. Now this is new and i didn't know it. Can you help me and let me know where to change CSC.
Thanks

The SM-N976N has 4 CSC options built-in. KOO is the unbranded Samsung code. There are 3 for the 3 major carriers in Korea: SK Telecom, kt Olleh, and LG U+
No I did not change my CSC because I bought my phone in a Samsung store in Seoul.
I have KT one , when i switch one says 5G and under screen KT.
also in setting. I am trying to find the way to change the CSC from KTC to KOO
Active KTC
Edit
Ohhh no way that bad
For me only Samsung pay ,5G, start up the phone, phone can't recognize my number rather than that everything else is perfect.
I am trying to find way to change CSC to KOO, hopefully will work

Do you mean your N10+ doesn't connect to the 5G network even if it's present and working in your zone?
Yes i don't see 5G at all even covered in my country. Always LTE+
Weird.. where are you from?
Our model is 5G, I suppose SM-976B only is suitable for 5G networks over asian countries, hope someone could tell me I'm wrong...

I don't know the specs of the B variant, but my N variant 5g worked in Korea just fine. Haven't been able to test it in the USA yet because T-Mobile doesn't have any 5g towers in my state yet.
In my country, UAE according to bands only N976N working since the are on same 5G band.
N976B isn't working with UAE network (5G). I bought and sold N976B.
Also now N976N is not working coz of carrier, KT from Korea.

Anyone running U1 firmware on N975W in Canada?

I live in Canada and have a N975W and want to flash the star wars U1 firmware, but before I do I wanna know what happens when you put a Canadian Carrier sim in?!? Will the U1 CSC have Canadian Carrier info preset? Will I have to manually modify to get things like MMS to work? Or does the U1 firmware have Canadian stuff preloaded that gets triggered with the Sim card?
Thanks
Nobody?

The American CSC does not contain information for Canadian carriers. After you flash the American U1 firmware, flash the Canadian CSC. There is only one CSC for Canada, and it contains information for all the Canadian carriers (Bell, Rogers, Telus, etc.). After flashing the Canadian CSC, when you insert a SIM from a Canadian carrier it applies the settings for your carrier's VoLTE, wi-fi calling, APN, etc.
If you flash Canadian CSC after flashing full U1 firmware will it not effect the U1 firmware? The CSC file is so large I'm wondering how it will effect the U1 firmware. Anyone do this yet? Do I need to use modified Odin?
Have you done this? Does flashing a different CSC effect the firmware?
---------- Post added at 11:58 AM ---------- Previous post was at 11:57 AM ----------
I would appreciate any input from someone who has tried this please. I really want to flash the star wars Android 10 for U1 on my 975W but am afraid that CSC will be different and not sure If flashing CSC from a different firmware will work as the file is so big.
if it doesnt work, you just flash back to stock firmware and csc.
just make sure its for the same processor.
OK, so, I flashed first Star Wars Android 9 version of U1 firmware to test and it works perfectly. Booted up with Canadian carrier sim and it loaded all APN settings. Everything works perfectly.
Flashed Android 10 version of Star Wars U1 firmware and its all good.
So you can load U1 firmware on N975W unlocked version. Same hardware and works in both countries. Do not even need Canadian CSC.
Do not load the HOME CSC file. It will wipe everything but its worth it. Firmware is solid and beautiful.
By flashing unlocked firmware, did you get rid of any carrier bloatware?
Can I ask you guys an info? I own N975u1, on first boot It haven't Greek language and I choose it later at setting. Does N975w on first boot has Greek language? So I install N975w firmware to solve my problem?(some settings remains in English).
975W is Canadian model and i have it on my note 10+ with carrier esk or eastlink if you wish to know what carrier esk stands for. If you are trying to get your phone to show Greek language I do not believe the 975w firmware would be a good choice. It lets you select which country you are from when you start up a freshly formatted phone but I have never selected any language other than Canada which is English. Just thought I would let you know that my model is also a Snapdragon chipset and I don't know if you can Flash another firmware unless you unlock Bootloader and I do not know if that is possible currently on a Snapdragon chipset Note 10.

The only phones with an unlockable bootloader are the N9750 (chineese variant) and Exynos models.
Can you please be more specific with what you are looking for within regards to firmware. Other then the information/answers posted in the first page of this thread I saw this thread, but depending on what your looking for specifically the post may not be of any help.
Also be aware that if you want to retain full compatibility with Virgin then you shouldn't go messing around with the firmware. Flashing other firmware (especially for US models) can result in things not working the way they would normally.

Only firmware for OEM UNLOCK switch in developer menu is exynos models. I found other sites on the net stating SM-N975W Snapdragon can be bootloader unlocked but i tried them all and none worked. DO NOT flash exynos firmware on Snapdragon model as you may ruin your phone or void warranty. Luckily mine still shows official and knox counter didn't get tripped. Sorry, wish I had better news 4 ya.

Flashing S20+ SM-G9860

I recently obtained a Samsung S20+ SM-G9860. However, I am in the US and am intending to flash the AT&T firmware for the SM-G986U. When I try to do this, I get a secure check fail on the PIT file due to the differing model. Is there a way to circumvent this? The two models have identical hardware from what I can see.
Is it possible to do this, and what is the process for doing this if it is indeed possible?
You cannot flash a rom built for a snapdragon chipset on a phone with a exynos chipset
Be thankful there is that safety check built in. Lol

The hardware isn't identical, SM-G986U is a Single SIM Device, your's is a Dual SIM.. TGY is the CSC in your device and even if you could flash SM-G986U Firmware the CSC would not change, it will still be TGY. If you're looking to get full AT&T call functionality on your device it's not possible as the CSC doesn't support AT&T compatibility. Firmware is CSC specific as well.

Oh well, guess gotta wait for another few month for newer updates to be able to use another network esim or firmware flashing that can enable this option soon...

If your device is the SM-G986U it's a Single SIM Device which doesn't at this point doesn't support eSim. Does the SIM Management Screen actually display the word "eSim"? Share a photo please. The device is likely still locked by Verizon. What is your motivation to change the Firmware to SM-G9860, do you live in Hong Kong?
Im sorry unfortunately I cant post links for my screenshots or upload any pictures..

I bought my phone online.. When I start up my phone it says Verizon, but its unlocked though because I can use any country physical simcard. Like right now im using my local simcard in Malaysia. I live in Malaysia and the reason I want to flash rom my SM-G986U device to Hong Kong firmware is so that I can use any eSim network in my country for my other network phone number.... If its a software for eSim that I can get for firmware that will be very helpful. Because the main local Malaysian samsung s20+ 5G firmware model is base on Exynos 990 which I doubt will fit for my US phone model..
I don't think you can flash SM-9860 Firmware onto your device but even if you could you still won't have eSim capability. Mix and matching firmware typically has more success on Exynos International Variants since they are Multi-CSC Enabled Devices. So if you have a British CSC (VOD) you may have success flashing German Firmware (VD2) since both CSC's are already stored in the device however even then some call features may not work. Snapdragon Devices don't have Multi-CSC's and as mentioned previously the Firmware is CSC Specific, they're made for one another. IF you had an Unlocked Bootloader, which you don't, there may be a method to modify the CSC once you root the device.. I did follow a thread a couple of years back where a gal had some success modifying her CSC on a Snapdragon Device but I believe that was a Galaxy S8. Also, I'm still curious if the word "eSim" actually appears in the SIM Management Screen on your device.

Damn.. that is some nice insights.. I really want to upload some links of the screenshot but for now I cant do anything as Im a new member.. I just have to wait for the network shop to open up to change my current esim card to physical simcard.. its been 2 months plus of this coronavirus lockdown and our network providers cant do much about it too..
Anyways I really appreciate the insights, like you said even if I could flash in Hong Kong SM-9860 in to my US SM-G986U, I might run into some software or calls dysfunctionalities..

S20+ CSC Change

Hello Everyone,
I have the SM-G985F/DS in Canada. The current CSC is XSP/XSP,XSP/XSP.
This phone is the international variant. Can someone please guide me on how I can change the CSC? I am a total noob. I would like Samsung Pay/ VoLTE to work. Preferably Fido CSC or Unlocked Canada, some bands aren't working properly.
If this isn't possible will I get updates for my phone?
This has been a big headache.
The phone is Exynos and I'm in a Snapdragon country.
Thanks

Since you're using an Exynos phone in a country where they officially sell the Snapdragon variant, you won't be able to flash the Canadian CSCs since they're only available for the Canadian variant.
VoLTE should work after you insert your SIM and reboot the phone, I've seen multiple reports of VoLTE no longer requiring the correct CSC to function.
Messing with band support is almost impossible on Exynos variants and I believe Samsung Pay requires the correct CSC to work so you're out of luck there.
All this aside, you will still get OTA updates based on when they're released for the XSP CSC.
