How to install TWRP and root on MIUI EEA 11.0.3 (Android 10)? - Redmi Note 8 Pro Questions & Answers

I have installed the latest MIUI EEA version (11.0.3.0 QGGEUXM) and, naturally, lost root and the recovery. Subsequently, I tried to install OrangeFox Recovery (Android 10 version) but this recovery was replaced by MIUI on boot. I also tried to install latest unofficial TWRP but now the phone failed to boot.
I also tried to install OrangeFox Recovery and, thereafter, Magisk. But once I had installed Magisk 20.4 the phone failed to boot.
Did anyone have success with the latest MIUI EEA ROM and, if yes, how did you root the phone?
Thank you.
(I edited the post once I discovered that there is not only the official EEA = EU ROM but also a modded xiaomi.eu ROM. I am talking about the official ROM for the EU/EEA.)

I now managed to install a presistent TWRP recovery. I used 1210 from wzsx150.
https://forum.xda-developers.com/re...overy-twrp-recovery-redmi-note-8-pro-t4033695
I also applied "Disable Replace TWRP" in advanced settings = modification of AVB2.0 stock boot. EDIT: This was indeed necessary.
Another hint: The recovery frequently fails to decrypt the phone. Solution: type very slowly. Hit backspace and delete the last two entries and retype if there is a hiccup and one of your "keystrokes" is not recognized.

Magisk patched boot.img worked for me.
Magisk 20.4

Global Hardware and Xiaomi.eu ROM.
When hiding Magisk Manager in Settings and Reboot Jailbreak Detection of Apps seems bypassed. (tested on Paypal)
Hi
Maybe a noob question, but I'm new to Xiaomi and I can't find a proper response for the Mi Mix 3
If I want to Disable Dm-Verity and ForceEncryption, I found Disable_Dm-Verity_ForceEncrypt_02.04.2019
Also I download the new Magisk 18.2 that I found for the Mi Mix 3
I already unlocked the bootloader
I installed TWRP, Wiped (System, data, everything) then Flashed the newest rom with XiaoMIFlash, before it rebooted I reboot to fastboot, Installed TWRP, copied the files, installed first Disable_Dm-Verity_ForceEncrypt_02.04.2019, then Magisk, then I reboot to system, it starts the phone from the initial setup, after I setup everything I checked and no magisk was installed, and in Security Encryption is still enabled, I reboot again to recovery and again it asks for the decryption password, tried to install magisk still no luck after reboot
If I try to only install Magisk 18.2 it works, but how I can disable Force Encrypt
plz help
I have the Mi Mix 3 Global version with the lastest ROM
Anyone tried Chinese hardware with global rom?
Try the Canary builds, the even work with banking apps that usually do not work with root.
They can be unstable but worked with every Rom so far for me
If you install the latest EU stable ROM (10.3.1) you can simply update Magisk Manager and Magisk itself to the latest version (7.3.2 and 19.3) without any problems and it works like a charm

[ROOT] [MAGISK] Magisk 19.3 working for 10.3.2.0 Global

Hey all,
Just thought I'd share the versions I used to gain root (and pass safetynet) on 10.3.2.0 global stable (PEEMIXM).
MIUI 10.3.2.0 global stable (download recovery version NOT OTA)
TWRP 3.3.1-5 (unofficial, developed by mauronofrio)
Magisk 19.3 for Xiaomi devices
I was already rooted on 10.2.2.0 with Magisk 17.3 and had TWRP 3.2.3-1 (official) installed, so this process was pretty simple:
Flash TWRP 3.3.1-5 in TWRP (if you want to update TWRP)
Reboot back into recovery to verify the update took
Flash MIUI 10.3.2.0 zip in TWRP
Wipe dalvik/cache
[OPTIONAL] Flash TWRP 3.3.1-5 again for good measure (probably not needed)
Flash Magisk 19.3 zip
Wipe dalvik/cache and reboot into system
I haven't had any issues so far, and decryption works in TWRP. The instructions for starting from the stock ROM can be found elsewhere in the XDA forums, but if you want to save some time I can send you how I did it.
Thank you to mauronofrio for helping me with these steps (I'm still a bit new to this process, especially with Xiaomi) and all the other developers that helped create these tools!
In case anyone is curious, I installed the 19.4 version from the link here on an older version of TWRP onto Xiaomi.eu (9.9.26 weekly). It works perfectly!
Help me root MI Mix 3 MIUI 12.0.1 Global rom
Hi, Please help me root mi mix 3 miui 12.0.1 global rom, I tried installing TWRP but the stock MI-Recovery 3.0 is replacing it.
Does any magisk version will work?

How to update with twrp and root access installed?

Hello,
i have version 11.0.2.0 Global on the device with twrp, magisk and edXposed.
Now I have seen that there is already a global version 11.0.6.0.
In my case, how can I update to a new version without losing the data and settings?
And one more question in general. Version 11.0.6.0 is not shown to me via OTA. Here it says, latest stable version 11.0.2.0. Is it not rolled out via OTA?
And if there was a newer version available via OTA, could I install the update despite TWRP?

I (without root) flashed the OTA on 11.0.2.0 global PGGMIXM to 11.0.6.0, but, to flash with root... Maybe (I dont know if it will brick) but you can try flash a recovery version of 11.0.6.0

I had exactly the same setup as you - here's what I did: 1 - Downloaded full rom from official Mi website (MIUI Global 11.0.6.0(PGGMIXM) 2 - Moved rom to root storage 3 - Flashed rom with TWRP, and voila! Updated to latest stable rom. Just remember to flash TWRP recovery again through Fastboot, because you will have stock recovery after update. I am using LTWRP- 3.3.1 -0924 and rooted and installed Magisk, without issues

One thing you forgot to mention is what region is your phone (not your Rom). If Chinese you may have to be extra cautious and steps above might not work for you.
Good luck!

Interesting. I'm still on rooted miui 10 4.5.0 PGGEUXM rooted magisk and twrp recovery-红米Note8Pro-3.3.1-9.0.img
I didn't update yet as bricking started to happen and I can't miss my phone as a daily driver.
Normally I would flash the full ROM, flash magisk, wipe cache and reboot.
So flashing full ROM doesn't break root?
Can't we flash recovery by twrp after flashing ROM instead by flashing by fastboot?
Isnt secure flash twrp after the ROM.

Flashing a full rom will break root, and install stock recovery...
It is too risky to flash another recovery with twrp (possible brick)
so where to put official update on sd card?
download recovery rom?

I just brought rmn8p with miui 11.0.6.0 ,so it is ok to use LRTWRP-3.3.1 -0924. I came across a new version -1104, I'll try it after unlock the bootloader. After that flash preloader then trwp.
Use LR.TWRP, it got an option to make the TWRP persist on every OTA.
Also LR.TWRP = less headache on Xiaomi devices.
Here's the latest build: https://mega.nz/folder/cMAT3Q4b#7CbPV7sbEuSEdP7cehXJ-w

What is correct solution to update rooted phone?
Redmi Note 8 Pro, 11.0.2 QGGEUXM, TWRP 3.3.1 1210, Magisk 20.3 -> 12.0.1 QGGEUXM
System say there exists update, i choose download, select reboot, but after reboot i end up in TWRP but nothing happened. After exit i boot to old 11.0.2 system with message that update fail.
Edit 1: after 2. download/update/reboot TWRP start installing image ...
Edit 2: after automatic update system say 12.0.1, just loosing root (all apps stay)
Edit 3: installed TWRP again, Magisk (there was little problem because Magisk Manager say "not installed", but after some googlig i fix that. So i update system without reinstalling apps or loosing data.
Clear solution is probably download full rom from official Mi website and flash selected rom with TWRP (flash TWRP recovery again, repeat root process, to get root back). See next post.

This is how I upgraded, try at your own risk.
Download full recovery zip of MIUI 12 and latest magisk
Create twrp Backup just in case
In LR TWRP 10 mount & format system, cache, dalvik, vendor.
Flash full rom (not ota!)
Press home to return to the main screen Choose Advanced-File Manager item >system_root / system / folder at the bottom if there is a recovery_fromboot.p file delete it.
Go back to Advanced and select Close AVB2.0 and confirm with a swipe to the right.
flash Magisk
boot to system
First boot takes a while, relax and grab a drink
Remember to backup and close AVB!
Thank you so much for sharing these steps. I have questions for a couple of steps below:

What is TWRP 10? Do I format first and then mount? I usually wipe system, cache, dalvik and then "install" the full rom (your next step), but i never try "mount" here. What does mount do here? what is wiping vender and mounting vender?

There are two check box here. one is "close the boot verification of avb2.0" the other is "close the DMVerity of avb2.0". Do O check one of both?
Thank you!

China stable MIUI 12 ROM, how to root? After flashing zip through custom recovery

Hi guys,
after flashing china stable MIUI 12 and wanting to root again with custom recovery and magisk i got the problem as follows:
Device was blank, flashed TWRP through fastboot, then updated to SHRP.
With SHRP i flashed the china stable ROM MIUI 12 as zip file.
Booted once, system is fine, enabled developer options and debloated.
Moving magisk on the device and rebooting into recovery gave me stock recovery, so no flash of magisk possible hm.
Thought well, on stable Chines ROM now just flash TWRP once more, did like always, flashed vbmeta, flashed twrp, fastboot reboot and instant power + volume up to reboot TWRP, worked.
Now reboot leads in lost ROM, TWRP loop.
Where is the error please?
Just flashing china stable MIUI 12 once more and waiting for next step to safely root device.
so far I think, you should flash vbmeta before flashing AOSP rom, I don't know if your problem was solved or not. share your experience here so that others can be benefitted.

Question Installing miuimix a12 and magisk

I need some help flashing the latest weekly miuimix a12. I'm experienced and all, been flashing roms before I could walk haha. But this device is really cracking me up.
I've tried flashing the weekly android 12 miuimix through twrp. Twrp vasishath gives a couldn't recognize zip file and twrp nebrassy gives a twrp crash (back to homescreen twrp) upon swiping the rom installation. I think both twrps don't allow installing android 12 rom. So I unzipped the latest weekly, went to fastboot and run the installer bat. This installed the rom for me.
But I don't think the installation was correctly done, since miuimix comes with magisk on board and magisk wasn't installed.
I also can't manually install magisk. I installed the app, patched the boot, flashed boot a and b, even installed twrp and sideloaded magisk.zip but the magisk app is showing n/a.
What did I do wrong, the miuimix a12 flashing or the patched boot flashing. Does someone know how to install an android 12 rom? This device is giving me a headache...

I'm not sure if magisk already support a12. The creator of magisk was working on it, with a lot of change like the no more hide feature, but idk if it already out
I was on the a12 supported canary build of magisk, but i guess maybe its to much "canary".
Or is installing miuimix a12 like i did, causing some trouble? By not being able tot flash the zip through twrp and installing with fastboot.
I'm lost on rooting my F3 on A12 as well. I can't do it through TWRP. I can't do it through adb sideload either. Will patching a boot image (not sure which to use for a global F3) and installing through magisk manager work?
Thanks.
